Ray POV
Noen sends me the time and location of the event in Savannah and tells me once him and Chase figure out how to get me in, they'll get back to me. I head out of the room and go back to my bedroom.
After about a half an hour, I get a FaceTime from Payton. I smile and accept it, propping it up against the bottom of the dresser while I sit on the floor.
"Hey, Payton," I say when his face comes up on the screen.
"Hey, Ray." Payton smiles at me and then looks over. "Why are you two laughing?" he asks.
"Because you're talking to your girlfriend, and it's cute." Noen's face comes into view on the screen. "Hey."
"Hey," I reply.
"Tell her I said hi!" I hear Chase yell.
"Hi to Chase," I say with a sigh. Payton just laughs and shakes his head before unlocking his hotel room door and stepping in. I see the door closing behind him before his face blurs up. A second later, he is jumping onto a bed.
"This is better," Payton says, then sits up in the bed. "Hi. I missed talking to you."
"I missed talking to you, too," I tell him. "How are you doing?"
"Good. How about you?" Payton asks me.
"Pretty good."
"That's great." Payton smiles at me again. After that, we keep talking for over an hour. He asks me about how I'm feeling, and I tell him that I'm good. I ask about the event today and how it went, what he got from fans, and how everyone is doing. Payton shows me everything he got and tells me about everyone that he met.
"I like seeing you this happy," I tell him after a while. "It makes me happy."
"Well, then I guess I'll have to be happy all the time, then," Payton says with a laugh.
"Mhm."
"Hey, I'm still thinking about what we are going to do for our date. Don't think I forgot. Chaser was helping me come up with ideas this morning on the way here, so I have some plans forming." Payton smiles at me. "I think you'll like it."
"I'll like it because I'll get to see you," I tell him with a small smile. "I bet it will be loads of fun, though."
"Yeah, but I'm keeping it a surprise until then. You'll just have to wait." Payton smirks as he falls back against his pillows.
"Then, I'll just have to wait." I sigh before looking over at the clock. "Hey, it's getting late. You probably need to be getting to sleep since you'll have stuff to do tomorrow."
"But Ray, it's just packing up and getting on the bus. I could sleep all the way to Savannah!" Payton whines.
"Do you actually think that you'll be able to sleep on a bus with all of your friends? I know how loud they actually are." I look at him across the screen. "I don't think anyone is going to be getting any sleep on that bus."
"Yeah. Good point." Payton sighs and rolls over in the bed. "I'll text you again in the morning, alright?"
"That sounds good. Sleep well." I give him a small smile after he yawns.
"You, too. I liked talking to you. A lot," Payton says.
"Me, too. Bye, Payton."
"Bye." I smile and hang up the FaceTime call before plugging my phone in and laying it down on the nightstand. I change into a big shirt I got from Payton's room while we were talking and get in bed before falling asleep quickly.
