"Interview with Valerie Fier." Nick Goode spoke as he pressed down on the recorder.

"Sunday, October second, 1994." He spoke, as Valerie nodded. "Wanna tell me what happened?"

Valerie then began to repeat what Deena told her to.

"We went to pick up Sam's prescription. And then suddenly the lights went out. It was pitch black, we couldn't see anything. We all ducked behind a counter and I was just scared." Valerie told him as Nick nodded along.

"We hid until we thought it was all over. " Valerie told Nick and he nodded.

"How did your stitches reopen?" Nick asked and Valerie sighed.

"I fell on some glass, it hurts like hell." She told him, and she sent him a small smile.

"You had to get more stitches, though." He told her with a confused expression.

"Yeah, they were kinda coming apart anyways. And the new ones, I probably got it when I was lay on the glass. The nurse that did them must of rushed it back in Shady, glad you took me to good old Sunnyvale to get some new ones done." Valerie answered as Nick stared her down.

"I'll tell you what the facts tell me. The junkies-" Nick began before Valerie coughed to interrupt him.

"Kate and Simon, you mean. They may have been junkies but they were still people. Teens also. They were good people. Kate was smart and Simon was too." Valerie reminded him.

"They're to blame for everything. That feels too easy to me. But that's the story this department will go with unless you can help me to see it differently." Nick told her and Valerie scoffed as she leaned back in the chair.

"Another Medal for you then and another nail in shadyside's coffin." Valerie scoffed as Nick looked at her.

Nick leaned towards Valerie, "I'm sorry for not believing your friends. I'm also sorry for how I took you away from your friend at the mall killing." Nick apologised as Valerie laughed at the 'friend' part.

"What?" He asked as Valerie continued to laugh.

"She wasn't just a friend. She was my everything. My life, my true love, my soulmate. I should've died that night with her. I wish I had. It's my fault she's gone. I wish I had done more." Valerie sobbed, as Nick clicked the record off as things got more personal.

"It wasn't your fault." Nick told her, as she leaned back in her chair.

"Do you know Athena Slater?" Nick asked her as she was about to leave the interview room.

"Yeah she worked with me in a school musical. She was nice." She replied, with a smile at the memory of the blonde.

"She sends her condolences for your girlfriend Heather." He told her and she smiled at that.

"Tell her that, I would love to see her again soon and I hope her husband isn't working too hard." Valerie told him and with with that she left the room.

She hoped that the horrors were all over now as she thought of Athena Slater.

1990

"Okay! Valerie Fier get your ass over here!" Athena Slater shouted, as she made her way towards her. Valerie Fier, a fourteen her old was the lead in the school musical and was having stage fright.

Athena Slater, a 28 year old volunteer was chasing after the teen. She had put so much effort in to the show and was not gonna let it go to Shit.

"I swear to god, Fier! You're gonna be fine, you'll rock it." Athena shouted, as she managed to catch up to Valerie.

"I won't. They all hate me cause of my last name." Valerie complained as she folded her arms across her chest, she then began playing with her hair.

"No, they don't." Athena lied, as she scanned around looking for someone to help reassure Valerie. She soon spotted a teen around Valerie's age, with a floral dress on. Athena smiled, it was Heather Watkins.

"Heather!" Athena shouted, immediately getting the fourteen year old's attention causing her to swirl round.

"Hey, Miss Slater." Heather spoke, as she walked towards the woman and Valerie was burying her face in her hands trying to hide her red face.

"Do you hate ,Valerie, here?" Athena asked, as she looked between the two immediately wanting to get them together.

"No. She's cool." Heather shrugged, and Valerie slowly removed her hands from her face to look at Heather.

"You think I'm cool? You're literally the definition of cool!" Valerie told her and Heather smiled as a light blush dusted her face.

"I'm gonna leave you two to it." Athena smirked, as she slipped away from the teens. Athena watched the two, nodding towards them with a smirk. Little did Athena know that her old matchmaking skills had worked, causing love between the two young teens.

End of flashback

Valerie Fier replayed this moment in her head, wanting to thank Athena Slater for giving her the best four years of her life with her soulmate.
