~ Chapter One Hundred Five ~

"So...?" the couple questioned, carefully eyeing Dusk as she finally looked down at the small stick. "Positive," She whispered. She couldn't back the tears anymore, and the moment that sob escaped her lips, Five and Victoria immediately went to hug her. "I just can't believe it!" Dusk sniffed. "I never thought... They said it couldn't happen again," Victoria and Five peered at each other over Dusk's shoulders, both surprised by her words, but given her already fragile state of mind, they decided not to pressure Dusk into explaining, already having a sneaking suspicion. She may have been close to the two of them, but of course, everyone kept a few secrets stashed away in the closet.

The doctor's words echoed within Dusk's mind, words that had haunted her at the mere thought or the glance at a child. Even taking care of James would sometimes trigger her trauma. "You will never be able to conceive again," they taunted her. Slowly, she pulled away from the group hug, walking over to the mirror. It all felt like a distant dream, a dream that she never thought would come true, especially with how chaotic and busy her and Klaus's lives were. The oh-too-familiar sense of fear and dread attempted to take over her mind, but as her hand unconsciously went underneath her shirt, she pushed it all to the side.

Holy shit... this is really happening!  A slight smile crossed her lips, and for a moment, she could feel a sense of peace. She wasn't sure how far along she was, maybe a month or two at the most, but already she could feel the return of her bump, a small but gentle reminder of her and Klaus's future. Klaus... How was she going to tell him? Surely, he'd be confused as to how it all happened! Granted, he never even brought up the topic of kids, so who knew what his thoughts were? And how would she even tell him, knowing his germaphobia was at its peak around this time of the year?

The continued questions swirled around in Dusk's mind, and she was snapped out of her trance, she looked back to Five and Victoria, who could see the panic in her eyes. "Well, this is gonna be a Christmas to remember," Dusk chuckled softly. "So, you're okay with this?" Victoria questioned, hearing that nagging voice in her head telling her otherwise. "Yeah, I am. Like I said, it's still very shocking," the brown blonde nodded. "We should go. We need to keep looking for Jennifer,"

Dusk pulled her shirt back over her stomach, her mind still reeling and trying to come up with a way to tell Klaus. He may overreact or go on another rant about germs, but she had to tell him eventually. They walked out of the shop, Victoria still clutching onto her lukewarm cocoa as they walked back to the town square, back towards the Christmas fair. Deck the Halls filled the air as the carolers continued their singing and the cold afternoon air began to nip at their noses. "Popcorn! Come get your fresh batch of popcorn right here, folks!" One man shouted as they walked through the snow-covered sidewalk. "Fresh apple cider! New Grumpson's pride and joy!" One woman shouted in the next tent over.

"It's a nice setup for such a small town," Five glanced around, looking towards the carousel full of little children. Dusk caught a glimpse of the amusement ride and looked up from the small rack of scarves and hats. They all looked so happy, so content with their lives as they awaited the night for Santa to drop off their presents. I wish our Christmases could've been like this... Dusk sighed, remembering how they'd have to wake up at 5 am for training, and only after six hours of endless exercise, would they be allowed to open the three presents they received every year without fail. One from Pogo, one from Grace, and one from Reggie.

As they continued walking, taking in the fun while keeping an eye out, Dusk's mind continued to be plagued with flashbacks and fears. Her heart began pounding inside her chest, but no matter how hard she tried to calm down for the sake of the baby, she could feel the past beginning to control her. Unbeknownst to her, Five could feel the energy radiating off her, his twinly instinct screaming that something was not right. "Hey, I'll catch up with you in a bit. I'm gonna look around," Five grabbed Victoria's hand. "Alright, just be careful," Victoria nodded. "Always am," Five smiled reassuringly before pecking her lips.

As the redhead walked toward the axe-throwing booths, the time traveler turned back to his sister. "You don't have to lie to me, you know," He spoke, his voice coming off softer than he intended. "What would I be lying about?" Dusk questioned. "Come on, sis. You should know by now you can't keep secrets from me. Something's clearly on your mind," He placed a hand on her shoulder. The silence hung heavy between them, the excitement in the air and flashing holiday lights a stark contrast to the darkness that threatened to engulf her.

"Five, it's complicated..." Dusk sighed, her gaze shifting to the snow crunched underneath her boots. "Unless it's complex math equations that determine whether or not you get back to the right timeline, I'm sure whatever's on your mind is not that complicated," Five chuckled softly, slightly brightening up the mood. Dusk took a shaky breath, looking up to meet Five's emerald eyes. "I don't know how I'm going to tell Klaus. I just don't want him to freak out. What if he takes the news the wrong way? What if he tells me babies are full of germs and that increases his germaphobia?" The words flooded from Dusk's mouth like word vomit. And though he tried to keep up, Five found himself unable to form an answer as she continued to spill her worries.

"Hey, hey, slow down for a second, yeah?" He eventually cut in, putting a brief pause to her worries. "I know you're scared. Hell, I think anyone in your shoes would be. But Klaus loves you, and he's going to love this baby just as much," "How do you know that for sure? What if he tells me to get rid of it?" Dusk's voice trembled at the thought of doing that. "Stop, don't even think about that! He may be shocked, but he's not a monster. He would never make you do that; I'd make sure he wouldn't," Five vowed.

Right across from the apparel booth was an empty bench, and the two siblings sat at it, starting to feel their legs grow tired from all the walking. "I still can't wrap my head around it. I thought I was infertile after... the miscarriage," Dusk sighed deeply. Though Five kept his composure, the look of shock in his eyes confirmed what he suspected back in the bathroom. "Dusk, I'm so sorry," He whispered. "It's not your fault. I've spent years blaming myself for what happened. And it is... it's all my fault. If I had been a better girlfriend and paid more attention to Seb than my music, then I-"

"Wouldn't be the successful, talented, and caring person that you are," Five finished. He scooted closer to her until their shoulders were practically touching. "Don't blame yourself, Dusk. What you went through is horrible. But you deserve to be happy. This is a fresh start for the both of you and this kid," Five whispered. "I don't want them to grow up the way we did. I want to be a good mom. But I don't want to lose another baby..." Dusk wiped at her tears. "You won't," Five said with unwavering conviction. "You're not alone anymore. Klaus will be there for you, Victoria is there for you, and I'm here for you,"

Dusk took a moment to absorb his words as the snow began to fall around them. Maybe he's right... "Thank you, Five," She whispered. The smile returned to Five's face as he opened his arms to her. Without hesitation, Dusk embraced him, her grip slowly tightening with every passing moment, like she was afraid he'd slip from her grasp. "You're going to be a kick-ass mom," Five assured. "Well, I'm definitely not the stay-at-home-and-bake apple pies type," Dusk grinned. "Absolutely not!" Five chuckled.

In the van, Klaus sat in the front passenger seat, enjoying the silence and the cold air surrounding him. Despite the protection of his thick layered coat, the continued chill sent shivers down his spine. Hopefully Dusky comes around with the hot cocoa soon! He reached a gloved hand into his satchel, pulling out a box containing a deck of tarot cards. With not much to do at the rehab facility, it seemed inevitable that he'd find something else to preoccupy his mind. Something that didn't have him so hyper-focused on potential ways to die.

"Hmm... what'll you tell me this time?" He asked as he shuffled the cards, pulling one out of the stack. A depiction of a couple standing on either end of the card looking longingly at each other, while an angel looked down on them. "That's so obvious! I haven't slept with the missus for a month," He muttered, setting the card on the dashboard. Klaus turned his gaze away from the stack as he plucked up another card, looking back to see a card he had grown too familiar with. "The tower," He whispered, setting it right next to the lover's card. "Loss of self-control,"

Klaus shut his eyes tightly, hoping that his next card would point to something positive. "Come on, baby. Come on. Give me a good..." As his hand turned over the third card, he could've sworn he was seeing things. Out of all the tarot cards he spent years memorizing and all their meanings, it was a rarity that he pulled this one. A woman looking out into the sunset, her hand resting against the fabric of her dress, underneath a protruding bump. "The Empress? Wha-what?!" He stuttered, trying to make sense of it all. What does... this mean? No, there's no way! This can't be right!

He drew another card, but this one left him more puzzled than ever. Ten swords were plunged into the ground, digging into the spine of a corpse. "Card of Death," Klaus's eyes widened. "Is it me? Is it Dusky? Who's dying?!" He started to panic, but gripped the bottom of his seat, trying to steer himself back to reality. "That's enough tarot for one day. I think I'll just leave that there!" He shoved his cards back into the bag before looking out through the cracked window. "Come on, where are they?" But there was no sign of his wife or any of his siblings coming back down the road.

He couldn't bear the thought that Dusk might be in trouble, but as his fears of getting hurt tried to prevent him from getting out of the van and searching for them, his hand went to the glove compartment, popping open the narrow space and reaching inside. "Hey there, old friend," He slightly smiled, taking the jar of half-full Marigold into his grasp. It looked so beautiful, twinkling as if a million stars had been captured and stored in this very bottle. Klaus stared at it intently, weighing his options. Was he willing to take the risk of relapse and join the rest of his family in reclaiming their powers?

"Nope, not today!" He shook his head as he tossed it back into the compartment and shut it tight.

"There we go! We've got Grace and the twins covered. You want one?" Diego turned towards Lila, as she stood next to him and took a sip from her cocoa. As she caught wind of Victoria walking past her, Lila declined her husband's offer before catching up to her sister as she walked through past the other gaming tents. "Vic! Vic, wait up!" Lila panted. Victoria turned around, her eyes widening momentarily as she watched her sister hunch over, trying to catch her breath. "Did you run all the way here?" Victoria blinked. "Maybe, but that's not the point," Lila brushed it off. "There's something I need to tell you,"

Victoria looked over her shoulder to make sure no one was listening before gesturing for Lila to continue. "I heard Five and Diego talking in the van last night. Don't get angry, but they were talking about you," Lila explained. Victoria slightly straightened her spine, glaring over to where Diego was taking another turn at the throwing axe booth. "Really? And what did they say?" Victoria inquired, keeping her gaze focused on him, like a predator eying its prey. Lila took a deep breath, knowing full well her husband might be in trouble if she revealed the conversation that took place.

"Diego thinks you're cheating on Five," she said slowly, carefully eyeing her sister's expression. Victoria's face contorted as she took in Lila's words, but rather than lashing out, she struggled to keep in her laughter. "Uh, should I be concerned?" Lila took a small step back. "I'm sorry... it-it's just... What?" She choked. "Apparently, he saw you in some cafe with another guy. Really went into detail on the mustache. Now, I'm not saying you would, but are you-" "Hell no!" the redhead interrupted. "You do realize this is Five we're talking about, right? If I even thought about cheating on him, he'd have that man's head before we ever met!" Victoria retorted.

"I mean... I know you wouldn't! Just us sisters have to look out for one another," Lila assured. Victoria slowly nodded in agreement, squinting as she looked back in Diego's direction. "Well, I don't know if Ben spiked his Marigold with a little something extra, but tell your husband if he sticks his nose in my relationship again, I'll break his nose!" Victoria vowed, before taking another sip of her drink. But upon realizing she had just run out, she tossed the cup behind her, flawlessly landing in the metal can, before continuing her walk through the fair.

Watching as her sister's figure grew smaller and smaller the further she walked, Lila's ears perked up at the sound of that familiar voice standing in the middle of the passing crowd. "Blink... just blink!" Five strained, placing one leg in front of the other as he took his time-traveling stance, but nothing happened. To the townsfolk passing by, he either looked like an idiot, or like his shoe was stuck to the ground by a big wad of gum. "Doing your Kegels in public, now, are we?" Lila questioned, walking over to him.

"You know, just trying to stay limber. Not give myself deep vein thrombosis," Five excused. "Mmm. At your age, you gotta look out for that," Lila replied. "What do you want, Lila?" the time traveler asked, looking up from the ground to her. "I heard you and Diego talking last night. About Victoria," She stated. "Shit, I thought you were asleep," Five shook his head, hoping the conversation would've stayed just between him and his brother. "You don't think she'd actually cheat on you, right?" Lila's impending question may have seemed like a simple one to answer. But it wasn't, it was more of a test. A test to see how insecure Five may or may not have become from that thought being planted in his head.

"No way," Five answered, his voice filled to the brim with confidence. "Good, 'cause she wouldn't! Nice to know you're not as insecure as my idiot husband. At least there's one couple in this family that's somewhat normal," "Really? We're the only ones?" Five challenged. "Duh! Luther's still looking for that Sparrow wife of his. Me and Diego barely manage having three kids, Klaus and Dusk are all kinds of cuckoo for cocoa puffs, and Ben and Dahlia..." Lila took a deep breath, her eyes squinting and blinking at the same time. "Don't even get me started on those two,"

Everyone was fully aware of how distant the couple had become, especially after the raid on their apartment and Ben's arrest. Their relationship had been icy to begin with, but it was only a matter of time before the ice thawed and they'd hit their cracking point. And when that happened, who knew what would come next? "Hey, so how worried do you think we have to be about this Cleanse thing?" Five changed the subject. "Hard to say. You know, I used to think the Keepers were 90% batshit. But since I've been roofied with dodgy Marigold, and I'm shooting laser beams out of my eyeballs, I'll give them 50/50," Lila answered.

"Right. Well, after this, we'll go back, find Jean and Gene," Five plotted. But out of the corner of his eye, he saw Diego walking over, eyeing the two of them suspiciously. "What are you two talking about?" He queried. "Trying to decide what festive drink to partake in," Lila lied. "And?" Diego inquired. The three of them looked over to the drink stands, where Dusk stood, drinking from the two piping hot cups of apple cider. "Mulled wine for myself. Eggnog for the lady," Five answered. "I don't know. Whatever Dusk's drinking has got to be good if she's got two cups of it," Lila muttered.

"Make that three," Diego noted, watching as the brown blonde ordered another cup. But as she took another sip, her gaze shifted back and forth between the three sets of eyes, looking as if she had been caught in the act. Still gripping onto the cups in her hands, Dusk glared at them all, the words that escaped her mouth were barely audible amidst the noise surrounding them. But suddenly, the screams of joy and the Christmas carols slowly came to an end, and Five slowly turned around in bewilderment. What the hell is going on? Standing at the control panel of the carousel was a man dressed in a green elf costume, his squinted eyes shooting daggers at the three of them.

"That elf. He's staring right at us," Five noted, making Diego and Lila turn around as well. "Who?" Diego questioned, unable to pinpoint who Five was talking about. "That elf over there. He's been staring at us," Five repeated, slightly cocking his head in the glaring man's direction. "How much wine have you had? Stop being weird," Diego squinted, peering down at his brother. "Trust me. There's something up with this guy," The seriousness in Five's voice was evident, but Diego and Lila still didn't take him seriously.

"Maybe he likes you," Lila teased. Without warning, the man grabbed the joystick and pulled it, the carousel coming to a slow but screeching halt as more eyes fell upon them. "What the hell is going on? Why are they staring at us?" Dusk caught up with the group, still clutching onto her drinks. Before either of her siblings could answer, the townsfolk reached underneath their winter clothes and under the stacks of fake presents for their rifles. "We should run!" Dusk's eyes widened, dropping her drink carrier and the siblings took off as the townspeople opened fire.

"It's gotta be Sy the dry cleaner! He screwed us!" Five shouted over the noise. More gunfire pierced the air as Diego, Dusk, and Lila kept running. But as Dusk glanced behind her for the briefest moment, Five was nowhere to be found. "Lila! Use your eyeball thing!" Diego yelled. "I'm trying!" Lila blinked furiously. "Well, try harder!" Dusk insisted. A stray bullet narrowly missed the side of Dusk's head, and as they sprinted past the towering statue and plaque. Dusk and Lila quickly hid behind another clothing booth, while Diego ducked behind the statue, clutching onto the reindeer plushies. "Where the hell are Five and Victoria?" Diego asked. "I thought Five was right behind us! And I don't know where the hell Vic is!" Dusk answered.

The zooming of the bullets and the gunfire only grew closer and closer the more siblings stayed in their hiding spots. It'd only be a matter of time before they finally reached them. "Hey, don't worry! I'm gonna go out, okay? You two wait here!" Diego looked over to his wife and sister. "No! You stay, I'm gonna go!" Lila shouted back.

"No, you stay, I go!" Diego argued.

"Don't tell me what to do!"

"How about you both stay, and I go?" Dusk volunteered. "Dusk, it's too dangerous!" Diego warned. "We've dealt with far worse! This should be a piece of cake!" the brown blonde shot back. "Just let me handle them!" Dusk's eyes fluttered closed as she tried to concentrate, reaching deep inside of herself, hoping to pull her inner phoenix out of the darkest depths and save them all. Come on, you haven't failed me yet... "Any time now would be great!" Lila shook Dusk's shoulders. With that final push of determination, Dusk's eyes slowly opened, the corners of her eyes ignited into the purple flames, her pupils twinged with violet.

"Stay here!" Her low commanding tone sent shivers down Lila's spine as Dusk stood up from the ground, her dark and bloodied wings revealed themselves as she stepped out into the open. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Diego screeched. But Dusk paid no mind, only focusing on her targets. With a swipe of her hands, they started glowing purple as the fireballs grew increasingly larger with every step she took toward them. The townsfolk continued to fire in her direction, the bullets ricocheted off their intended target, busting windows and hitting some of them square in the chest.

For the rest of the townsfolk who were unfortunate enough to be alive, the purple fireballs were growing larger, larger than any Dusk had conjured before. About a dozen townsfolk ran towards her, and she threw the fireball in their direction. The townsfolk screamed as they tried to run away, but the fireball was much too fast for them. And with a single flash and scattered screams, the townsfolk were vaporized. All that remained of their existence was their hurried and scattered snowprints. A whistle blew through the air, and as Dusk turned around, she saw another group of townspeople with more ammunition and guns.

But as they began firing at her, Dusk's defenses went back up, ricocheting the bullets every which way, but her fireballs were quickly dimming and starting to lose their effectiveness. Peeking out from the hiding spots, the couple watched as Dusk began to struggle, and as the crowd was nearing closer, Diego closed his eyes and without a second thought, he leaped through the air, the incoming bullets circulating his body as he flipped out into the open. Landing first feet, the bullets flew back to where they were initially shot from, killing the group with bullets to the head.

Dusk exhaled slowly as the air grew quiet and she looked at the carnage surrounding them. "Wow... I didn't think you still had it in you," She turned back to Diego. Diego rolled his eyes, but quickly his gaze grew focused as he appeared to be looking behind Dusk. "What?" Dusk asked, slowly turning around to see the barrel of a gun pressed against her back. That fucking elf! A flash of green light came right behind her, and the elf lost his grip on his weapon as his body was sliced in half. "Yes!" Lila cheered, happy to learn she had some control over her lazers.

"Thanks," Dusk slightly smiled. "Really? You gotta one-up us like that?" Diego squinted. "It does sting a bit," Lila chuckled wryly as she grabbed the reindeer plushies from behind the statue. "We should get out of here before any more of them show up," Dusk advised. "Well, if that wasn't obvious," Diego muttered. Stepping over the body of her would-be attacker, Dusk's eyes accidentally wandered to his lower half, the blood and guts spilling out onto the snow, making her want to throw up again.

"I am a wonderful person. I am good enough to live this wonderful life," Klaus recited as the ambiance music from his cassette player echoed through his headphones. "No, I will not look outward, but rather inward to the lives..." Something inside Klaus told him to open his eyes, and as they slowly fluttered open, a young woman ran towards the van. Taking off his headphones, he could hear her cries for help. "Help! Help me, please!" She continued as Klaus tossed his cassette player to the side and scrambled out of the car.

"Jennifer?" He asked her, squinting through the cracks in the window. "Yes! Yes! Yes! They're trying to kill me! Help me get out of here!" The woman begged. "Jennifer! Oh my god, we've been looking for you everywhere!" Klaus smiled. "Man, am I good!" "We have to go now!" Jennifer grew insistent. "I know, but we have to wait for my family because I have a terrible track record of abandoning my post," Klaus looked over his shoulder, then back to Jennifer. "You don't understand! They're going to kill me!" Jennifer shook him. "I know! We just gotta wait!"

"Klaus! Klaus, you idiot! Start the van!" Ben called out as he and another woman ran towards them. "Hey! Hey, I did it! I found Jennifer!" Klaus shouted back to him. "Start the van, Klaus! Start the van!" Dusk shouted as she, Diego, and Lila bolted towards them from the connecting road. "Jennifer? Her name is not Jennifer, I'm Jennifer!" The other woman looked confused. "I thought you were Rosie!" Ben questioned. "That's just the name I put on my name tag, so guys don't stalk me!" The second Jennifer explained.

"Oh, so wait! My mistake. You are..." Klaus turned to the first Jennifer. The panic in her eyes slowly faded into anger as she reached into her pocket. "You shouldn't have come here," She warned. "KLAUS!" Dusk screamed as the imposter pulled out a gun, but just before she could reach her husband, the gun went off, his him right in the chest. Klaus stumbled back with a shocked expression, his gloved hand going to his chest as he lay on the asphalt. "No, no, no, no! Baby, stay with me!" Dusk bent next to him, a hand resting against his chest as she tried to keep pressure on the wound. Klaus's eyes were full of fear as he looked up at his wife, seeing the panic in her eyes only made him worry more. He had been so careless with his life before, and now for the first time in his life, he feared death.

"Let me go!" The real Jennifer thrashed against the imposter as she held a gun to her head. "You can't trust these people!" The imposter hissed. "Come with me! I'll keep you safe!" Ben stepped closer to her. They wouldn't be letting the real Jennifer that easily, not until she was back home and safe. One of Ben's tentacles shot out of his back, striking the phony Jennifer in the neck. "You can't die! I won't let you die!" Dusk vowed, taking one of his hands in hers. "D-Dusky..." Klaus coughed, blood started to pour from his mouth.

"He's bleeding out! Goddamn it, we gotta go!" Dusk yelled to Ben as Diego and Lila helped her load Klaus back into the van. "Lila, take my keys!" Dusk reached into her pocket, tossing them towards her sister-in-law. "Meet us in the town square! Make sure Vic and Dahlia are safe!" "Dusk, are you sure? I-I," Lila stammered. "There's no time! Go! NOW!" Dusk insisted, slamming the passenger door shut, and continuing to cradle her husband's dying body in her arms.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back in town, Viktor, Dahlia, Luther, and Allison ran through the bloodied streets, their eyes landing on the bloodied and battered bodies of the townsfolk. It felt like they were stuck in a nightmare, how could a seemingly perfect and quaint little town contain so much violence and hostility? One moment they were eagerly looking around at antiques, and the next they had guns pointed at their heads. "The hell is this place?" Allison's eyes nearly bulged out of her head. "Who the hell are these people is a better question!" Dahlia retorted. As the four of them stopped to catch their breath, Luther's eyes wandered to one of the bodies lying on the edge of the road.
Just underneath the man's coat was a small but clear white symbol, resembling an H and E combined. Hargreeves Enterprises The letter underneath it spelled out. "Dad?" Luther whispered to himself. Surely, he couldn't be behind New Grumpson or the people out to kill them! But then again, the man was known for stabbing people in the back, quite literally. The pounding of footsteps echoed across the street, like soldiers marching into battle, more townsfolk came charging towards them, guns in hand. "Oh shit! Get down!" Luther yelled charging towards his siblings, shielding the three of them with his body.
Bullets zoomed through the air, narrowly missing Dahlia, Viktor, and Allison as they took cover, but even though they were able to escape the bullets, Luther's back was getting ripped to shreds from all the bullets. While some of them were able to bounce off, Luther realized they could not stay this way forever. They'd have to fight back one way or another. Sensing the Ape-Man's weakness as he tightened his grip on her waist, Dahlia's eyes turned icy blue, her fingertips turning a similar shade. With a slight nod of her head, she and Viktor stepped out from hiding, and with a thrust of his hands, an orange blast sent six or seven men and women flying through the air. Dahlia's hands made contact with the wet cement, focusing on channeling her new energy, a wave of ice and water began to form just behind her, and as her three siblings looked up at the menacing wave that threatened to consume them, they started backing away just as the townsfolk momentarily lowered their weapons.
Waving her hand downwards, Dahlia brought the wave down on them, the bone-chilling screams of pain and shock from the cold engulfed the air. The ice particles stabbed them over and over, all over their bodies, and the frigid water filled their lungs. And as their bodies spread across the pavement, everything grew cold and quiet again. "How... how did you?" Luther looked at her stunned. "I didn't know I could do that!" Dahlia chuckled nervously. The sound of jingle bells filled the air, and running down the opposite end of the street was an elderly man dressed as Santa Claus, shooting at them with the two rifles tucked under his arms.
Immediately, the siblings took cover behind Luther, and once again the shooting pain of the bullets made it hard for Luther to keep his siblings huddled together and protect them. But as more bullets with fired at them, the siblings looked up as they heard that familiar woosh of air. "Five! Victoria! Get in here!" Luther yelled to them. The redhead and time traveler wasted no time in taking cover. And as the angry Santa kept sprinting over to them, continuing to fire, they were stuck at a crossroads, nowhere to run, no one else who could save them, and with Luther's defenses starting to weaken, death seemed all but inevitable.
But in a strange of fate, the tortuous Baby Shark song along with the screeching of tires came barreling down the street. And with a loud thud, the siblings walked from under cover, watching as the now airborne Santa came barreling towards the ground, and not too far behind, Lila pulled up in Dusk's car. "Get in! Now!" Diego opened the passenger door. The group of six ran towards the vehicles, but as Victoria passed by the van, she stopped in her tracks when she saw Dusk clutching her bleeding husband. Goddamn it, not again! Victoria couldn't bear to leave them, not when Dusk needed all the help she could get to save his life.
"What the hell happened?" The redhead piled into the van, noticing the blood spreading across his shirt. "He... he got shot," Dusk stammered, trying to keep her emotions in check. Klaus's breathing was beginning to slow, and the normal beating of his heart started to grow eerily quiet. "We gotta help him!" Dusk begged as Victoria piled into the back, shutting the door behind her. Hitting the gas as hard as he could, the Hargreeves sped out of town, hoping to save Klaus's life before it was too late.
"You can't leave me like this! I won't be left alone again!" Dusk wiped at her tears. "Guy's he's dying!" Victoria called to the front. Diego peered into the backseat through the mirror, seeing the life fading from his brother's eyes. "Five, get the Marigold!" Lila instructed, and without hesitation, Five reached into the glove compartment. "No! He doesn't want that!" Allison shook her head. "We have no other choice, Alli!" Dusk shouted. "You can't just let him die!" Luther hissed. As the arguing continued all around them, Klaus's hand grew cold, and his breathing came to a stop. And Victoria could see the look in Dusk's eyes as she frantically tried to keep him awake.
"No! NO!" Dusk sobbed, cradling his head. "Luther's right! Give it to him!" Ben passed the Marigold over to Allison, who looked amongst her siblings as they all watched her expectantly. "Just do it!" Victoria growled. With a reluctant exhale, Allison cracked open the bottle. "I'm sorry, Klaus..." She whispered, pouring some of the glowing liquid into his gunshot wound. But even as his wound began to heal, Klaus didn't move an inch. His body only grew colder and heavier the more Dusk held onto him.
"Why isn't it working?" Dusk grew frantic. But none of her siblings could provide an answer, they all grew silent as the nightmare began to sink in. But Dusk refused to accept it, still holding out hope he might make it out. "Klaus, I don't know if you're still in there. But you need to come back. Cause I'm not doing this without you," Dusk sniffed. She pressed a soft kiss to his knuckles before bringing his hand to her stomach. "We can't do this without you. This baby... they need their daddy,"
If silence didn't fill the car before, it most certainly did then. Everyone's eyes grew wide with shock. There was no way they could've mistaken what she said. "I'm pregnant, Klaus. You're going to be a dad," Dusk repeated. A gasp erupted from Klaus's lips as he sat up, his lungs aching for air as Dusk held him tightly, sobbing with joy. "You're okay! You're okay!" Dusk whispered. "Thank God," Five breathed from the passenger seat. "Did... I hear you correctly?" Klaus slowly turned towards her. Dusk nodded excitedly, "Mhmm! We're having a baby!" Dusk grinned. The uncertainty in her husband's face shifted into joy and excitement as he hugged her so tightly.
"I didn't think you had it in you, buddy," Ben commented from the front seat. "Neither did I!" Luther grinned. Dusk's cheek twinged with pink as she and Klaus pulled apart, pressing a quick kiss. "Well, that was a weird fucking town," Viktor commented. "You know it was all Hargreeves goons?" Luther questioned. "I should've known! Those sconces were too perfect!" "At least we got who we came for," Five reasoned. "Good job, Ben. You found her!" Luther smiled. Ben nodded in acknowledgment, turning back to the confused and traumatized young woman. "Hey, we're gonna get you back to your dad safe and sound," He assured.
"My dad?" Jennifer questioned. "Yeah, Sy Grossman," Ben clarified. "Who?" Before Ben could further clarify, a crash came from the side of the van, sending it flying through the air. The occupants barely had any time to react as the van spun upside down, their hands raising in the air, while Klaus grabbed onto his wife's and Dusk protectively shielded her stomach. The van came crashing back to the ground, knocking the majority of the siblings into unconsciousness, but through Dusk's hazy gaze, the passenger door slid open, and two people dressed in beige fur coats reached in, pulling Jennifer out of her seat.
As her head pounded and her ears rang loudly, Dusk's eyes fluttered closed, her hand still tightly clutching Klaus's.
