Chapter Twenty-Seven

Walking down an near-abandoned street of Central City at night both put me at ease, and made me anxious. I really did need this time to myself, so I guess it felt good.

Hearing the roaring of engines got my attention, so instead of turning to the bustling streets, I headed underneath the old bridge, where what looked to be hundreds of people stood, scattered around and cheering.

As I got closer to the crowd, someone slid out of a car. And honestly, I wasn't surprised that it was Wally.

Both of made eye contact for a moment as I quickly walked up to him, a look of both annoyance an d fear in his eyes.

"I'm going to take a wild guess and say that this is why you didn't show up for dinner last night." I said with a small huff as Wally rolled his eyes.

"Guess I didn't have my dad to teach me that." Wally said as my mouth dropped.

"Jesus Christ Wally. Show at least a little respect for him. Now, is this why you came to Central City? To drag race instead of meet your dad and sister?" I asked as he sighed, looking around.

"No one would race me in Keystone anymore. Why am I even telling you this? I don't have to explain this onto you." He said bluntly as I sighed, crossing my arms.

"Actually, you should. Sure, you don have to tell your dad about this and I understand why. I mean, the shit you're doing tonight is illegal. And if you've forgotten already, your dad is a cop-"

"Right, the detective that didn't know he had a son, and doesn't know anything about me." Wally said, cutting me off as I frowned.

"We are trying, Wally. But we won't get far if you keep blowing us off like this." I said as Wally pointed to his car.

"This is how I pay for my moms medical bills, Daisy. It's how she gets the help she needs." He argued as I rubbed my face.

"I understand that, Wally. I do. But this." I gestured to everything around us as he slowly looked around. "This isn't the way to go. Let me help you get a job or something. Or at least let me help by giving you some money."

"I don't want your money. In don't need a job, either." He said bluntly as I nodded slowly.

"Then do something else that won't end up with you in a cell or a casket." I said as he only rolled his eyes again.

"Look Daisy. You seem like you're trying to get me to like you and the West's." Wally said as I nodded slowly, listening. "But I got my own family to care about. You should go back to them." Wally said as he began to walk away, leaving me standing by myself, frowning after him.

I started debating telling at least Joe or Barry about this. Telling Iris would mean she'd dig so deep into the  drag racing dangers to get Wally out of it. It might be good to tell her, though.

Wally seemed like such a sweet kid that was only doing this out of the good of his heart, but I could feel something terrible coming out of this.

Sighing, I made my way out from under the bridge, feeling several eyes on me in the process before making sure our was out of sight and running back to the West's.

"Hey Daisy, how's it going?" I heard Joe say as I shut the door, giving him a half-hearted smile, still debating wether to tel him about Wally.

"Good um.. Joe I know why Wally didn't come over last night..." I spoke quietly as Joe tilted his head and frowned.

"Oh?" He said as I sat on the couch.

"Well, I was walking back here from S.T.A.R. Labs, and I heard a bunch of engines running under that abandoned bridge close to the outside of Central City... a drag race thing going on and.. well Wally was one of the racers." I said as Joe's face dropped.

"I already gave him that debate and tried to talk him out of it on why he shouldn't be racing, one because you're a cop and his father, and that it's dangerous.. but he wasn't listening, mainly because he was doing it to pay Francines medical bills." I continued as he just nodded along, rubbing his beard in the process.

"Well... I guess I'll just have to try and talk to him myself." Joe said as he stood up and walked away and upstairs, leaving me on the couch, once again alone.

I huffed through my nose, fiddling with my necklace as I leaned back, resting my head on the back of the chair and looked up at the ceiling.

I shut my eyes, only for a moment before I opened them again, my eyes wide as I realized the room was green, meaning only one thing: the Turtle was here. But why?

I stood up painfully slow, looking around only to see for a moment before I was picked up, watching everything pass by like a glitching screen as time felt terribly slow.

I tried to fight, but each punch I sent barely dazed the Turtle from how slow they were, and then I was somehow strapped to a chair with stolen meta cuffs.

Perfect.

Just my luck.

Barry

"Joe have you seen Daisy?" I asked while walking downstairs to the kitchen. She didn't join me in bed last night, so I had first assumed she fell asleep either on the couch or the guest bed since she left S.T.A.R. Labs before me.

Shaking his head, Joe took a sip of his coffee. "Not since last night before I went to bed." He answered as I frowned, starting to think of only the bad things, even when I know she can handle herself.

There was a chance she fell asleep on the couch or the guest bed and woke up early. Maybe she's back at S.T.A.R. Labs or CCPN.

Pulling out my phone, I dialed Daisy's number, hoping she'd answer quickly.

But upon hearing my own phone ring, I could also faintly hear her's.

Walking out into the living room, I found Daisy's phone laying on the couch, a worried look crossing my face. She would never leave her phone, so what happened?

"Joe. I think something happened to Daisy." I said while hanging up my phone as he walked in to see me with both phones, his eyes now wide with worry.

"You don't think Zoom got her, do you?" Joe said as my own eyes widened. I didn't even process the fact Zoom mag have taken Daisy, but now that was the only thought in my mind.

"Or.. maybe the Turtle got her." Joe suggested, trying to make it slightly better.

"I need to tell them." I said before running to S.T.A.R. Labs.

Daisy

"Is this really how it's going to go?" I said with a frown as the Turtle chuckled. "Why me anyway?"

"Because, I know that you know the Flash. I've been watching S.T.A.R. Labs for a long time now, and you seem to be the one in there the most with the scarlet speedster, so you two must be close, am I correct?"

"If I say no will you let me go?" I asked with a raise of a brow as the Turtle frowned. "What are you gonna do with me anyways?" I asked. I knew I wasn't going to die, so might as well have some fun with it.
"Go ahead and kill me to get it over with if you want. I have all day, apparently."

"Oh, I'm not going to kill you. That's much to.. fast and messy. I like to take things nice and slow. To hurt someone who cares about you." The Turtle said as I just rolled my eyes in boredom.

"If you're going to keep doing this I'd pick up the pace just a little bit, buddy. The Flash could be here any minute, second, hour to save me." I pushed as the Turtle sighed.

"That's a waste of time.. saving people. They take everything for granted." He said as I tapped my foot impatiently.

"So I'm guessing that you take things people value most?" I said as he nodded slowly, walking up to a box hidden behind a cloth.

"My wife Rosalyn took me for granted. She wanted to leave me... the thing I valued most." He said with a sad voice as I frowned.

"That's why you're doing this? Because your wife left you? That's tough, dude." I said as he turned to me.

"I couldn't let her leave me. So I made her mine." The Turtle ripped the cloth off the box, revealing a glass case with a woman frozen in time behind it.

"Woah! Okay yeah that's a little freaky." I said, looking away as he chuckled to himself.

"I do hope I spelled your name right, Cora." The Turtle said as I frowned.

"It's Daisy now, but whose keeping track?" I said with a forced smile as the Turtle frowned.

Barry

"We will find her, Barry." Caitlin said as I crossed my arms nervously.

"I'm not getting any leads on this gu- hold on." Cisco said as he sat up straight, pointing to me as he turned. "That ring you got for Daisy. Didn't you put a tracker in it in case something were to happen to her?" Cisco said as my eyes widened.

Quickly nodding, he turned back to the monitors and typed quickly, a bing sounding through the monitors as Daisy's named popped up on the screen, Cisco snapping his fingers.

"Naydel Library. His ex-wife used to be an archivist for antiquities there." Cisco said as I scoffed a smile before quickly changing into my Flash suit, standing in the center of the Cortex.

"Wait Barry, we haven't even figured out how to neutralize the Turtle's powers." Caitlin said as I shrugged.

"Well, I'm gonna have to power through it." I said before sprinting off, running through the streets of Central City before stopping in front of the library.

"Okay guys, I'm at the library." I said through the comms.

"Barry, the only way to save Daisy is if you grab her in between each of the Turtle's pulses." Cisco said as I nodded. "You'll only have 2/10ths of a second to make your moves."

"Got it." I said as I ran into the library, quickly finding the Turtle going to inject Daisy with some strange liquid.

"Guess he doesn't care about you as much as I thought." He said, not realizing I was behind him as Daisy's eyes widened.

"No!" I yelled, getting the Turtle's attention as I ran at him. I slowed down every now and then before getting closer and closer to him before landing a punch to his face.

Quickly, I unlocked the meta-cuffs on Daisy, telling her to run as I grabbed the Turtle, both of us speeding back to S.T.A.R. Labs.

I threw Turtle into the meta-cell and ran back up to the Cortex to see Caitlin already checking Daisy for injuries and her health. "Caitlin, I said I'm fine. He didn't inject me with anything. Barry got to me before he could." She reassured as I smiled at her.

Daisy quickly gave me a warm smile back, embracing me in a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I'm so glad you're okay." I whispered to her as she hummed while whispering back.

"I'll always be okay if you're there to save me, Barry. You alone could save me from the darkest nights."
