A/N:-
Read the announcement of my message Board too!!
"Ava," Atulya's voice cut through the moment.
I turned, my eyes locking onto hers. She stood frozen, her gaze taking in our disheveled state. Adwait's hands were tangled in my damp hair, my lips still inches from his, and my shirt open to the crisp wind.
Atulya's face flushed with awkwardness. "I'm so sorry to interrupt, but it's urgent," she said, her eyes snapping shut.
I smiled inwardly; she was adorable when flustered.
We stood, and I quickly buttoned my shirt, wrapping the denim jacket around me for warmth.
"What happened?" I asked, standing beside Atulya, Adwait flanking me.
Atulya opened one eye, ensuring the coast was clear, before fully opening them.
"We need to leave, guys! It's not safe here," she urged.
Adwait narrowed his gaze. "I don't think there's a problem. Why should we leave?"
Atulya's expression turned grave. "Someone is after you. We must leave immediately."
"Fine, let's go!" I decided.
We entered the suite, where Caleb and Aniket stood, their eyes locking onto us with a mix of shock and alarm.
"I think they're already here," Aniket whispered, glancing out the window into the moonlit night before handing me my gun.
"I see!" I replied, my grip tightening around the weapon.
"Take Atulya and Adwait with you, I'll deal with them," I instructed Caleb.
But Adwait intervened, his voice firm.
"What? No way!" Adwait stopped me mid-track.
"They're here for me, not you. They won't come after you," Adwait argued, his eyes blazing with determination.
After considering his words, I realized he was right. The hitters targeted him.
"So what now?" Aniket asked, his voice laced with concern.
"Well, why don't you and Mr. Randhawa take your bike and get somewhere away from the crowd? We'll take over from there," Caleb suggested.
Adwait countered, "It's not safe at all. You should take her out first. I'll deal with them."
I stood firm. "Are you freaking crazy? I'm coming with you, and that's final."
Adwait's jaw clenched, ready to retort, but Atulya intervened.
"Yes, she's right. Let her come with you."
Adwait's voice rose. "No! Not at all. It's too risky."
I stood my ground, ignoring Adwait's protests.
Atulya proposed an alternative. "I don't think any of you are right. Considering tomorrow's function, you two should leave through the back door. Let's get changed first, then Aniket and I will take the bike. Adwait will leave with his guard, and you'll go with Caleb. It's safer that way."
After heated arguments and petty fights, we agreed on Atulya's plan.
Adwait left with his guard, while Atulya and Aniket took the bike we arrived on. I departed with Caleb.
"He's right, by the way," Caleb ventured. "You two are getting married tomorrow; you should be safe."
I silenced him with a stern glance.
As we diverged onto separate paths, I monitored the sideview mirror.
"Caleb, take a right," I instructed, my eyes locked on the mirror.
"But ma'am, it's not the right way," Caleb protested.
"Just do as I say," I ordered. My instinct proved correct – the suspicious car reappeared.
"It seems they're following me," I muttered.
To confirm, I told Caleb, "Take another right."
The car persisted, still tailing us.My grip on the gun tightened.
"We have a problem, Caleb." I sneered.
Caleb's eyes darted to the rearview mirror.
"What do we do?" his voice quavered.
"Do we have any guns here? Big ones?" I asked.
"Yeah, we have a few in the trunk," Caleb replied.
I inspected the trunk, finding an assortment of firearms.
My eyes landed on the Savage Arms MSR 10, a long-range rifle.
"How many magazines for this?" I questioned, lifting the gun.
"Maybe 10 or so?" Caleb estimated.
"Is it in here?" I again asked, checking.
"Yes!" Caleb confirmed.
I counted five magazines."Perfect!" A smirk formed on my lips. Time to show these peasants whom they are following.
I started to calculate our odds."How many people can fit in the car following us?"
"Maybe 6-7," Caleb answered meeting his questionable gaze with me through rearview mirror.
I thought for a moment and added.
"And there are two cars, meaning around 12-14 people." Caleb nodded.
"Yeah."I mentally prepared for the confrontation.
With 50 shots from the Savage Arms MSR 10 and my handgun.
We had the upper hand.
"Is there a quiet place, away from the crowd?" I asked, formulating a plan.
Caleb's eyes narrowed. "What are you planning to do? Should I call Mr. Randhawa?"
I glared at him. "Whom do you think you work for? Me or him?"
Caleb quickly backpedaled. "No, no! I didn't mean it that way. Just to check if they're being followed?"
His explanation was valid. We needed to ensure Atulya and Adwait's safety.
"I'll call Matteo for backup," I decided. "Adwait would have informed his team, but we can't be too cautious."
Caleb nodded in agreement.
With our next move clear, I pondered our situation.
I called Matteo, briefing him on our situation.
"What's the plan?" Matteo asked.
"Find me an abandoned location," I instructed.
"Are you serious, boss?" Matteo's tone shifted from sleepy to alert.
"Questioning my decisions?" I raised an eyebrow.
"No, ma'am! I'm on it," Matteo apologized.
"As we approach, stay vigilant," I warned Caleb.
Caleb nodded, his eyes locked on the road.
"Time to lose them," I whispered.
Matteo had narrated the path, and I directed Caleb accordingly.Caleb took a sharp turn, then another. The followers clung to our tail.
"Take the next left," I instructed.
Caleb complied. The road narrowed. We weaved through alleys. The followers hesitated.Their hesitation was our chance.
"Floor it," I ordered and Caleb accelerated.
We burst out of the alleys. The followers reappeared. But we'd gained ground.
"Next right," I directed.
Caleb turned. The maze of one-way streets confused our pursuers. We exploited the layout.Slowly, the followers vanished. We'd shaken them for now.Caleb let out a sigh of relief.
"Well done," I praised.
But my gaze remained fixed on the rearview mirror, Our pursuers could reappear.
"What now boss?" Caleb inquired
"Let's go to the factory."
"But didn't we lose them? Yes to create an ambush." I smirked.
"What now, boss?" Caleb inquired.
"Let's go to the factory," I replied.
"But didn't we lose them?" Caleb asked, confusion etched on his face. .
I smirked."Yes, to create an ambush."Caleb's eyes widened.
"You're setting a trap," he realized and I nodded.
"We can't let them dictate the game. Time to take control."We arrived at the abandoned factory, its crumbling structure an ideal backdrop for our plan.
"Get in position," I instructed.
Caleb nodded, gun at the ready.I surveyed our surroundings. The perfect ambush. Now, we waited. For our pursuers to walk into our trap.
