Chapter - 18
The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft golden glow across the room. Y/N stood near the window, her eyes fixed on the pastel hues of the sky as she sipped on her coffee.
"Morning." Yuna greeted with a sleepy mumble as she shuffled in the bed, still half-asleep.
Y/N turned to face her friend, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Morning," she replied, the warmth of her coffee cup seeping into her hands. The quiet hum of the morning enveloped them, a sense of peace settling over the room as they both enjoyed the serene start to their day.
The running sounds from outside grew louder, prompting Yuna to stir from her half-asleep state. "What's that?" she asked, her voice tinged with bewilderment.
"No idea." Y/N mumbled, equally curious as they both walked towards the door, the mug of coffee still in her hand.
Opening the door revealed a scene of chaos outside, with students running back and forth, whispering urgently to one another. Y/N furrowed her brows, trying to catch snippets of the news spreading through the crowd. The air was filled with a sense of urgency and excitement, leaving both Yuna and Y/N wondering what had caused the commotion gripping the usually quiet morning.
Y/N reached out and stopped a girl who was darting past them, her expression frantic and panicked. "What's happening here? Why is everyone running?" Y/N asked, her voice filled with concern.
The girl's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Y/N and Yuna. "You didn't hear? Soobin ssi is dead," she said, her words hanging heavy in the air.
Shock and disbelief washed over Y/N and Yuna, their hearts sinking at the news of another murder. The morning that had started so peacefully now felt shrouded in uncertainty and shock.
"What? When?" Yuna asked, her voice trembling with disbelief and confusion.
The girl shook her head, her expression grim. "No idea about that. He was found dead in his room, everyone's going crazy," she said before darting off into the crowd, leaving Y/N and Yuna standing in shocked silence. The news of Soobin's death hung heavy in the air, casting a shadow over the once serene morning.

Namjoon's brow furrowed as he looked at the note that Hoseok handed him, his thoughts racing. "Same killer?" he asked, turning to look at Hoseok who nodded in agreement.
"Arghh... This is getting on my nerves," Namjoon murmured, frustration evident in his voice as he studied the words 'BEWARE' etched on the note. Before he could delve deeper into the investigation, Jackson's voice drew their attention.
"Namjoon ssi," Jackson called out as he rushed towards them, carrying a laptop in hand. The group gathered around the laptop, the glow of the screen casting an eerie light in the dimly lit room.
"The CCTV wasn't off this time. Take a look at this," Jackson said, showing them the CCTV visuals on his laptop screen. The others leaned in closer to get a better look at the footage.
On the screen, a black silhouette was shown moving stealthily, climbing up to the victim's room through the window. The figure remained inside for a few minutes before swiftly exiting the room and running away. The group watched in silence, a sense of unease settling over them as they tried to make sense of the chilling footage and piece together the events leading to Soobin's tragic demise.
"But, why did the killer didn't cut it off this time? It's suspicious," Hoseok said, his voice tinged with concern as he analyzed the CCTV footage.
"Maybe the killer must have thought 'they are really slow, so why don't we give them a hint'," Jackson said sarcastically, a hint of frustration evident in his tone as he threw his hands in the air. The group exchanged troubled glances, feeling the weight of their failure to apprehend the killer and bring justice to the victims.
"Anyway, from this information, it looks like it's a boy, and he must be young, a student probably," Hoseok said, his eyes focused on the screen as he analyzed the footage for any identifying features.
"We should warn the students," Jackson suggested, his tone urgent with the need to protect the others from potential harm.
"Right, this is getting more complicated. They need to be careful," Hoseok agreed, realizing the gravity of the situation as they recognized the imminent danger lurking within the university. With a shared sense of determination, they prepared to alert the students before delve deeper into the investigation.
"Ah, one more thing. A girl from the second year saw someone yesterday, probably the killer," Jackson revealed, adding a new piece to the puzzle that heightened their sense of urgency.
"Call her, I want to interrogate her. And you interrogate the others, it's of no use anyway," Namjoon murmured the last part, his words tinged with a hint of frustration at the lack of progress in the investigation. The team scattered into action, each determined to extract any information that could lead them closer to identifying and apprehending the killer.

All students were gathered at the main hall, huddling together in anticipation of Mr. Choi's announcement. The two officers stood stoically alongside him, their presence underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
"Attention, everyone," Mr. Choi's voice echoed through the hall, commanding the undivided attention of the gathered students. A hush fell over the room, the air heavy with a mix of anxiety and apprehension as they waited for the news that would undoubtedly impact their sense of safety and security within their university.
"This is Mr. Kim and Mr. Wang, officers from the investigation team," Mr. Choi introduced, gesturing towards the two officers standing beside him. "I would like you all to listen to what they want to say," he continued, emphasizing the importance of the forthcoming information.
"Morning, students," Namjoon began, his voice carrying a sense of urgency. "We don't have time, so I will get straight to it. We will tell you five rules now, and we want all of you to follow these to ensure your safety," he declared, his eyes scanning the attentive faces of the students, seeking their cooperation and understanding.
"1. Don't go anywhere alone, always stay with a friend," Jackson emphasized, his voice ringing with concern. The importance of safety in numbers resonated through the hall.
"2. If you ever feel like someone is watching or stalking you, report it immediately to the school authority or us," Namjoon implored, highlighting the significance of proactive communication.
"3. Try to avoid interacting with students or individuals whom you don't trust or who weren't previously close to you," Jackson said, encouraging to safeguard themselves from potential threats and maintain a circle of trusted companions.
"4. If you receive any unknown calls, texts, or notes, report it to us immediately," Namjoon emphasized.
"5. Keep your phones with you at all times, fully charged," Jackson added, recognizing the significance of having a phone readily available in case of emergencies.
"And remember, this is for your own safety," Namjoon concluded, his voice carrying a sense of earnestness.
The hall erupted into a murmur of whispers and conversations as the students absorbed and processed the rules, exchanging concerned gazes and acknowledging the gravity of the situation.
"You can ask if you have any questions," Jackson added, attempting to address the growing curiosity and concern within the students.
"Did you find any clues?" a student bravely inquired, their voice trembling with a mix of fear and hope for progress.
"We have found some leads, but we cannot disclose the details at this time," Jackson replied, his tone reflecting the necessity for secrecy in the ongoing investigation.
"Why are they killing our students?" another student asked, their voice filled with frustration and sorrow.
"For that question, we don't have an answer yet," Namjoon admitted, his words tinged with a hint of disappointment. The absence of a concrete motive only added to the sense of unease that permeated the hall, leaving the students grappling with the uncertainty of why their friends had fallen victim to such senseless acts.
"When will you catch the killer?" a student asked, their voice filled with a mix of desperation and fear.
"Soon," Jackson responded, trying to instill a sense of hope amidst the uncertainty.
"Is that even possible?" Y/N interjected, her voice carrying a hint of skepticism. All eyes turned to her, a collective gaze of disbelief evident on their faces.
"If you could, you could have already done that, right?" Y/N continued, her words carrying an air of frustration, as if mocking Jackson's reassurance.
The room fell into a tense silence, the weight of her comment hanging in the air and highlighting the mounting pressure on the investigation team. Jackson, taken aback by the unexpected challenge, momentarily paused for a moment.
"If we were not skilled enough, we wouldn't have qualified as investigation officers, Miss- Miss Y/N," Namjoon replied, addressing her by name, a sign that he remembered her. His voice held a slight edge, perhaps in response to her challenging demeanor.
"Then, why haven't you found the killer yet?" Y/N pressed on, her voice laced with impatience and frustration.
"We are working on it," Jackson interjected, attempting to diffuse the tension. However, Y/N scoffed, a hint of disbelief evident in her demeanor, unconvinced by their reassurances.
"You are working on what? You don't even know a single thing ab--" Y/N's sentence was abruptly halted by Mr. Choi's stern interruption.
"That's enough," Mr. Choi interjected firmly, his voice cutting through the tension in the room. The commanding tone of his words silenced any further comments, demanding respect and order within the hall. The students looked to him, momentarily startled by his assertive intervention.
"As exams are nearing and with all the chaos taking place, the university will be closed until the exam day," Mr. Choi announced, his voice projecting through the hall. The students took in this unexpected decision, realizing that it was a necessary measure to ensure their safety and provide them with a conducive environment to focus on their studies.
"You can study at the library," Mr. Choi continued, offering an alternate space where the students could concentrate without the distractions that the ongoing investigation had brought upon them.
"And Miss Y/N, please meet me at my office," he added, singling out Y/N in a manner that piqued the curiosity of those around her.
With the meeting adjourned, the students slowly dispersed, making their way back to their respective dormitories and classrooms. The anticipation of the upcoming exams, combined with the lingering unease of the recent events, created a subdued atmosphere as each individual contemplated their next steps. Y/N, in particular, moved towards Mr. Choi's office, her mind filled with curiosity and unanswered questions.
