It was the day of Wednesday's court ordered therapy sessions, so October expected to stay behind while his sister went to them, but he was surprised when Principal Weems said that he was allowed to go to the sessions as 'support' for Wednesday. October wasn't entirely sure why Wednesday needed his support, but it was better than staying in Nevermore.

So, they were packed in a van and driven to Jericho by the principal.

October hated the town as soon as he saw it. It was a nice little town. It was pretty. It just seemed so...fake.

Principal Weems pulled up to the building. "Dr. Kinbott's office is on the second floor. Other Nevermore students swear by her."

Wednesday asked, "And you will be waiting here until I'm done?"

"Perhaps afterwards we can visit the Weathervane for hot chocolate," Principal Weems stated.

"Sounds good to me," October told her. He was sitting in the seat behind the principal.

"Principal Weems, this feeble attempt at bonding may work on my brother, but it's beneath you," Wednesday told her. She opened the passenger door and got out. Before she closed the door, she added, "And chauffeuring your students around is below your pay grade."

"Given your history, I'm sure you're intent on running away," Principal Weems stated, stopping Wednesday from closing the door. "I'm here to prevent that from happening."

"I wish you luck," Wednesday told her, before closing the door.

"I'm sorry about her behavior," October said. "She's just...rough around the edges."

The principal said, "She's not the only tough student that I had to deal with and I know she won't be the last."

October took out a word search booklet from his red backpack. He had taken a black sharpie and drew flames on it at some point.

He finished two puzzles, when he realized something. He crammed the booklet in his backpack and leaned forward. He asked, "Principal Weems, do you want anything from the Weathervane?"

"No, no, I'm good," Principal Weems told him distracted because she was on the phone. He got out of the van and closed the door. All he had to do was look over on his right to notice Wednesday in the middle of having a vision. He went over to her and noticed a man holding a crate of apples.

"Sorry about my sister," October told the man.

Wednesday came too.

The man asked, "And you let this goddamn weirdo out of the house?" He put a crate in the back of his truck.

Wednesday grabbed October's arm and took off with him, leading him down the sidewalk.

"He dies of a broken neck," Wednesday told him.

"I can't believe I blanked on responding to him," October griped.

"He's not worth your time anyway," Wednesday replied.

They walked in the Weathervane together.

The guy behind the counter was kind of cute, in a bland, boring way. He probably read Atlas Shrugged for fun.

He was messing with some kind of coffee machine and the machine released a large cloud of steam.

October chose to sit in a booth while Wednesday went to talk to the guy. It took a few minutes when Wednesday went to him.

"The barista, Tyler, will take me to the train station after his shift," Wednesday told him. "You're welcome to come with me if you want. I would prefer if you didn't, though."

October knew he would go with her and he knew that she knew he would. However, a small part of him wanted to stay just so he can talk to Enid and Xavier again. But...wherever she went, he went. It was just how he was.

Wednesday sat in the booth across from him and started staring at him, unblinkingly.

October stared back, at her, not blinking, "Really?"

"Yes," Wednesday replied.

For a weird brief moment, he wondered what Tyler, the barista was thinking if he saw them having a staring contest.

The contest was ruined when three boys walked in, wearing pilgrim outfits. They blocked them in.

"What are two Nevermore freaks doing out in the wild? This is our booth."

October ignored him in favor of keeping the staring contest going. They were intense when it comes to the staring contest.

Once, Pugsley hit October over the head with a snow globe and October didn't even blink, even when blood started trickling down his temple.

One guy grabbed October by the arm and dragged him out of the seat.

Wednesday didn't take that too kindly because she grabbed the guy's wrist and twisted it, before pushing him into his friends.

"Guys, back off," Tyler said.

"Stay out of this, Galpin!"

"Yes, stay out of this. They touched my brother, so they must pay," Wednesday told him.

October stayed aside, while Wednesday fought the guys.

Tyler asked, "Where did she learn those kung fu moves?"

"Our uncle taught us," October explained, "He spent five years living in a Tibetan Monastery as a prisoner."

An older man walked in the coffee shop and Tyler said, "Dad."

"Tyler, what the hell's going on in here?" the man asked, looking at the guys on the ground.

"They were harassing some customers," Tyler stated. He motioned at Wednesday, "And she put them in their place."

Tyler's dad looked at Wednesday in disbelief, "This little thing took down three boys?" He looked at October and Tyler, "Did any of you help her?"

"Why should I help her?" October asked, "She can take care of herself and she clearly did."

Principal Weems walked in. "Apologies, Sheriff. These two slipped away from me."

"I told you where I was going," October defended himself.

The principal looked at them, "Come on, Mr. and Miss Addams, time to go." They walked to Principal Weems.

"Wait a minute, hang on," the sheriff said. October looked at him. "You two are an Addams?"

"Yeah," October replied.

The sheriff said, "Don't tell me, Gomez Addams is your father?"

October replied, "Yeah, why?"

"That man belongs behind bars for murder. Guessin' the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm gonna keep my eye on you two," the sheriff stated.

Wednesday just smirked at him in response.

On the way back to the school, Principal Weems said, "Your first day and you two are already on Sheriff Galpin's radar. Wish I could say I was surprised." She seemed more annoyed than angry.

Wednesday asked, "What did he mean about our father?"

October was more in disbelief that his dad didn't tell them about it. He was proud of their accomplishments, but not to say anything about murder?

"I have no idea, but a word of advice for you two: stop making enemies and start making a few friends," Principal Weems stated. "You two are going to need them."

"I'm the one making enemies, not October," Wednesday said. "We're two separate people. You don't need to tack him on to my accomplishments."

October looked out the window to see something, "It looks like there was some kind of accident ahead."

Principal Weems said, "I hope the driver's okay."

"He's dead. He broke his neck," Wednesday stated.

Principal Weems asked, "How can you tell from this angle?"

October messed with the ring on his finger. He wished Wednesday didn't say anything that sounded oddly suspicious.

Wednesday didn't reply to that.

Wednesday struck a deal with Enid and used a webcam to contact Tyler. He was still willing to drive them to the train station.

They stood at the entrance of the festival. It looked like Tyler and his dad were arguing.

Enid asked, "Are you sure you can trust that normie?"

October didn't trust Enid's jacket.

"We trust that we can handle ourselves," Wednesday stated.

"Well good luck and safe trips," Enid said. She held her arms out for a hug and stepped forward to hug Wednesday.

"We don't hug," October stated. He actually would've hugged her, but he was sure that she would've given him a rash.

"We're contagious," Wednesday added.

Enid took that as her cue to leave.

It looked like Principal Weems was sitting at a picnic table, watching them.

October went to a ring toss game. He tossed some rings onto some bottles, landing them.

Enid came up to him. "You really are good at this. Where's your sister?"

October motioned with his towards the dart game. It looked like Xavier was there.

"Here's your stuffed animal," the woman who was behind the booth said, handing over a green teddy bear.

October didn't want it, but took it. "Here you go." He handed it to Enid, who took it with a rather gleeful smile

Enid said, "Thanks." She gave him a one-armed hug and October awkwardly patted her on the back.

She seemed to narrow her eyes and October looked to see that Tyler was there and Wednesday and Xavier was looking over at them. All they saw was October handing Enid a teddy bear who took it rather happily before hugging him, and he just awkwardly hugged her back.

It was so strange.

So, Wednesday walked over to the booth and barked, "Let's go," to October. So, they were on their way.

They reached the parking lot just as the fireworks started.

Tyler walked up to them, holding a file. "Hey, before you guys leave, I wanted you to have this." Wednesday took the file from Tyler.

October asked, "What is it?"

"It's your dad's police file from when he was at Nevermore. I think it's the reason my dad hates him," Tyler said. He looked at Wednesday, "You okay?"

October took that as his cue to leave. No surprise that Tyler seemed interested in Wednesday. How the hell did three people develop crushes on her?

"Hey, freak!"

Oh god. It was the three boys from the Weathervane and they were holding baseball bats.

"Look. His girlfriend isn't here to defend him," one of them taunted.

October wasn't that surprised. Most people assume that, because he was white with green eyes compared to his obviously Latina twin sister and parents. He had gotten his whiteness from an ancestor somewhere along the family tree. He asked, "You mean my sister?" He looked at the baseball bats. "That's pathetic, really. How can you just sit around and decide to beat a girl to death with baseball bats, just because she kicked your asses? How bold do you have to be to decide to beat an unarmed girl with a bat? Do you even play baseball?" They seemed to advance on him.

Someone grabbed his arm.

"Come on, we can lose them in the crowd."

That was Tyler dragging him away.

They ran through the crowd, October only stopping because Wednesday bumped into someone and then did her usual Vision Stance, falling down and October had to grab a hold of her.

Maybe he shouldn't have worn a red and black stripped hoodie.

Tyler started, "Whatโ€”?"

Wednesday snapped out of it and turned around, looking at the guy she had bumped into.

"You two, we need to go," Tyler said, tugging on Wednesday's arm. "Come on."

October asked, "What did you see?"

Wednesday took off, "Rowan, come back!"

October ran after her.

Someone grabbed his arm.

Why do people enjoy grabbing him?

He turned, fist up, ready to throw a punch only to see that it was Xavier who had grabbed him.

Xavier asked, "What's going on?"

"Don't know," October replied, shaking Xavier's hand off of him. He ran across the bridge, only to hear some kind of growling and someone screaming.

He got through the woods and found Wednesday standing over the guy's body. He had blood on his face and a gash in the abdomen.

"Wednesday!" October said, grabbing her arm. "We really need to go."

Wednesday looked at him, "We need to tell someone about this."
