A/N: Long Chapter Ahead
A little boy lay on the ground as a group of larger boys kept taunting and kicking him. The little boy winced every single attack but refused to give a cry. His eyes teared up as they kept kicking on the same spot and it seemed as if they get harder and harder to hold back.
"Hey!"
The boys stopped and looked around. They were in a lone ally, behind the trash. Adults would only glance and keep going, ignoring them.
They didn't see anyone. "Who's there?! Come out, punk!"
The others snickered at their leader's confidence. Seeing as no one came out or said anything, the leader smirked and pulled the little boy to his face, grabbing his collar. The boy winced as his toes barely touched the ground.
"You got someone here, Parker?" the leader smirked, throwing a fist back.
Before he touched Peter, a hand gripped his fist tightly. The leader's eyes widened as he didn't sense anyone behind him, not even the death grip they had on his hand. He winced and glanced back to see a blond little girl behind him.
He would have laughed seeing a girl but he was paralyzed when he looked into her sharp blue eyes. They were directly looking into his soul as if telling him that if he considered moving a single inch, she'll break him.
"What. Do. You. Think. You're. Doing?" she growls.
His goons paled when they recognized the girl. She may be small but she was tough and faster. They refused to be looked down on by the girl so they took out their knives and attacked her. But the girl didn't move as they ran at her.
Her eyes moved in their direction. With one swipe, she kicked one of the goons to the ground, instantly putting him unconscious. The others whimpered in fear when she stood but they can tell the fury she was giving off.
"Y-You freak! Get her!" the leader cried but she seethingly glares at them, making them stop and turn to their leader and shake their heads before leaving the scene.
"You cowards!" The leader turned to the girl but she was gone out of sight. He gasped as Peter only stared in awe. What the leader didn't anticipate was the harsh upper kick the girl gave from the ground.
The kick snapped his mouth shut, making him fly back and into the trash. Peter dropped to the ground with a wince and looked up to see a smile on the girl's face.
She took a hand out for him, making him feel safe instantly. He shakily grabbed it as she pulled him up and led him out of the alley.
The leader grunts as he pulls himself out of the trash and goes to yell out to the girl but seeing the cold glare she gave him earlier made him stop. He gritted his teeth, "I'll kill you! You just wait you bitβ!"
The trash's lid closed on him, engulfing him in darkness.
The girl sighed as she rubbed her nape and turned to her best friend. "What lie did you say this time?"
Peter flinched and turned away from the girl. He hates and loves it when Gwen knew him better than anyone. At this moment is a curse.
"I only said that I have been trained to be a professional fighter. They challenged me and you came along. Which by the way, you didn't have to go full monster on them."
She smirks at him and leans toward him, making him blush. "I'm a monster, now?"
He shook his head, "You're the most nicest and coolest person I know. Not even Harry is that cool."
She hummed walking next to him. "You shouldn't lie if you'll only end up getting in trouble, you know? What about that time when you lost your homework and blamed me for it?"
He chuckles remembering it perfectly. "That was one time. And your dad only grounded you for a day."
She shook her head and pouts, "Yeah, and he believes every single thing you say. I still can't believe my dad didn't believe me."
He rolled his eyes, "Right, because you don't lie in your life."
"No, I don't," she laughs.
He narrowed his eyes and stood in front of her. Which was unfortunate since she was taller than him. "There was this study that even the smartest liar can be detected."
"Oh, yeah? How?"
He walks backward, continuing the conversation as Gwen keeps looking forward in case he trips. "Every person has a flaw. When someone lies, a small movement can make anyone tell."
"Really? Try it on me," she grinned.
He rolled his eyes again. "I already saw your flaw, Gwen." 'Even though you never have flaw.s'
"What is it?"
He lightly blushed, looking away awkwardly. "Well...your nose cutely twitches."
Her eyes widened and slapped a hand on her nose. "What the hell? Since when?"
"Since forever," he deadpanned. "You lie all the time."
She scoffed, "I don't lie...that much."
He raised a brow, "Oh yeah, what about not going to my birthday party until midnight? What about coming to the concert all bruised up? What about the late-night stakeouts?...."
She sweatdropped at his listing and put him in a playful chokehold. She barely started her wrestling career and she didn't want to trouble Peter or her friends."I gave my reasons, didn't I? I told you my dad makes me stay later on and the bruising, I fell off the stairs."
They stopped in front of their houses. Gwen turned to him and gave him a hug, "Besides, I don't think I'm that smart to lie to someone who has an IQ higher than mine."
She waved and headed inside. Seeing the door close, Peter walked away and sighed.
"You lied again."
Gwen's eyes opened and stared blankly at the ceiling. She clenched her fists and curled up in her bed. This was the first time she didn't have nightmares of Peter. In fact, only a small memory she had when the radioactive spider bit her.
She sat up and walked to her bathroom to take a shower. She had a day off and she wanted to sleep in but she didn't anticipate having a peaceful dream that woke her up instantly. Turning her back to the mirror, her once black and blue wound was gone.
Gwen sighed and took a shower. After cleaning the house to a "simple environment" she walked out of the house and put on her headphones to Pink Floyd.
"Teacher leave them...kids alone," she lowly sang as she walked around the park. "We don't need no...education."
Gwen stopped as her senses flared for a moment. She looked around but she didn't see any danger. "That's weird..." She kept walking, more alert as she felt she was being watched. She passed by a few apartments when she heard grunting near her.
She stopped and turned to see some girls arguing with a girl. She frowned to see them smirking and shoving the girl.
She huffed and lowered her headphones before going in. "Girls...always the girls," she rolled her eyes.
The girl cried as she tried running away but the girl, who seemed to be the leader, grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall.
"That's what you get for lying, Lila. You're not that special. You're not even worth it," the girl taunted.
Gwen had enough and walked over calmly. She was not in the mood for this. She cleared her throat, bringing the girls' attention.
"Do you mind explaining what the hell you guys aredoing? In broad daylight? If you're going to be bullying someone, at least don't make it that obvious," Gwen deadpanned.
"Who are you, bitch?" a girl with noticeable freckles spat.
Not affected, Gwen continued walking before standing in front of the leader. "What's your name?"
"Huh? I'm not answering to you," she spat.
"I wasn't talking to you. Lila, was it?" Gwen asked, glancing back at the girl. The girl refused to look up, afraid that the new girl interfered already. She nodded.
"Hey!" the leader swung a hand at Gwen but she grabbed it and twirled her around, shoving her against the wall. The girl yelped when she heard a crack. "What the fuβAh!"
"No need for that," Gwen spoke before turning to the other girls who flinched at her look. "If you don't want to end up like girly here, I suggest going away and not bother this girl or you'll have to go through me."
The girls nodded and ran away. The leader shoved herself away from Gwen and gave her a stink eye before glancing at Lila who flopped to the ground. "You don't want to be too close to her if I were you. She lies to get whatever she wants. Stupid Pinnochioβ"
"Did I ask for your warning?" Gwen interrupted.
The girl's eyes widened. She doesn't believe her? She gritted her teeth and pointed at Lila. "You're safe now but you'll get what you deserve, Lila!"
With that the girl stomped off to find her friends. After a few seconds, Gwen turned to see Lila already staring at her. Gwen's eyes widened at the look in her eyes. She goes to give her a hand but Lila groggily stands up and walks off.
For some reason, Gwen didn't want her to walk away. So she followed her, stepping next to her. Lila noticed this and refrained from rolling her eyes. "You can go away now, I don't need your pity."
Gwen shrugged, "I didn't say anything. I'm Gwen."
"I didn't ask."
Gwen laughed and stood next to her, turning her phone off. "Are you hungry?"
Lila stopped, now confused. Why was this girl so insistent? She goes to refuse when her stomach betrayed her and rumbled rather loudly, making her blush. Gwen smirks and walks ahead of the girl. She stopped and turned to see Lila pouting.
"Well? Are you coming?"
πΈπ·πΈ
"McGoofy's? Seriously?" Lila asked incredulously as Gwen shrugs and enters the restaurant. She sighs and follows as the smell of children's feet burned her nose. Her eyes watered at the smell and the loud noises of children playing in the playground.
Gwen sits in one of the tables and Lila sits across from her. They both sat in silence as Gwen looks at the menu. Lila only frowns as Gwen hums to Pink Floyd, sometimes glancing up at the girl.
"I feel like Goofy-luxe, what do you think?" Gwen started.
"Why am I here?" Lila crossed her arms.
"It's lunch. Besides, I don't feel like eating by myself. Do you think Goofy-luxe is free today or the mini Goof-burger?"
Lila's eye twitched and looked at the menu. None of the orders is free, what is this crazy girl implying? "I don't know."
"Cool, I'll get the Goof-burger," Gwen set down the menu, before looking at her. "Then why do you ask?" Lila asked.
Gwen smiles, "Thought of making you smile. I saw you smirking earlier when I pushed that girl on the wall."
Lila's eyes widened. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Gwen hummed as the waitress walked over and took her order. "And she'll take the same, thank you."
The waitress nodded and left. Lila deadpanned at the girl. "I'm not hungry."
Gwen smiled, "Sure you're not. I just wanted to know why those girls were bothering you. Ladybug and Chatnoir don't usually come out for these kinds of fights."
Lila huffed and looked away before putting up a small frown, "I don't know why they did that, I all said I was going away."
Gwen shook her head, "Your eye twitched."
She blinked owlishly, "What?"
"You're lying, your eye twitched. It's a small flaw. I almost didn't catch it," Gwen smirked as the food came and she started eating.
Thinking of it as a challenge, Lila spoke again. "They were just jealous of me. I had it handled."
"I didn't need to see you to know you're lying. Your voice pitched, too. Another flaw."
Lila's eye twitched and snatched her burger before starting to eat. "Right, because you don't lie in your life."
Gwen stopped.
Right, because you don't lie in your life.
Gwen continued eating and shrugged at the girl. "You didn't answer my question. Why were those girls bothering you?"
Lila hesitated and shook her head. 'She doesn't know me. It's not her business.' "School stuff. I said some things, they didn't like it."
Gwen observed the girl and no eye twitching was there. "Sucks. What school do you go to?"
"It doesn't matter, mother o' dearest is making me move schools to that ugly one a few blocks from here," Lila rolled her eyes at the mention of her mom.
"Damn, sucks. I go to that school. It's not that bad but beware of the fans. There's this model that goes there and everyone goes crazy for him."
"Please. No one's that beautiful."
Gwen laughed at that, making Lila slowly smile and join her. "When do you start?" Gwen asks, drinking soda.
Lila groaned, drinking soda too. "Tomorrow. I don't want to go. They're probably two-faced in everything."
Gwen shrugged, "I only know a few people that are like that, but they're not that bad once you get to know them."
Lila's eyes darkened, staring at her soda. "Everybody is bipolar. They just wear a mask to hide it."
Gwen stopped to look at her. Something deep is going on and not something pretty. Her eyes moved to the bruise on her arm and grabbed her hand, dragging the girl out of the restaurant after paying.
"What are you doing?!" Lila tried pulling but the girl had a good grip on her as she pulled her to the nearest park. She sat her down on one of the benches.
"I'll be right back. Stay here," Gwen walked to one of the apartments.
Lila huffed and looked around. That Gwen girl left her phone next to her. What is this? A test or something? This girl knew when she lied, but a little snooping wouldn't hurt, would it? She cursed when she saw a lock with a five-letter code.
She stopped to see a picture of two little boys with a blonde girl. One of the boys was crying as the blonde girl was grinning at the picture with a peace sign as the other boy tried to calm the other down.
"What are you doing with my phone?"
Lila flinched, almost dropping the phone. Gwen smirked as Lila blushed in embarrassment. "Cute picture isn't it?" Gwen spoke up.
"I guess," Lila put her phone down. Gwen laughs before poking her eye, "Your eye twitched again."
Lila huffed as Gwen sat next to her with a medkit. Her eyes widened as Gwen pulled out a balm. "What are you doing?" Lila now asked as Gwen lightly grabbed her arm and started rubbing the balm on her arm. But she didn't move.
"Helping you, now don't move. You'll end up getting worse."
A little kiss would make it all better.
Lila's eyes darkened at the memory and snatched her arm away. "I don't need your help. I didn't ask for it so stop pitying me!"
Gwen didn't flinch and only put a hand out, not saying a word. Lila's eyes darkened but stopped when she saw the sincerity in her eyes. "Why are you helping me? No one asked you to."
Gwen smiled, placing her hand on the bench before looking at the park. "You remind me of a friend of mine. He was always defensive with others. You won't believe me, but it was hard to convince him to be my friend."
"Is it one of the boys on your lock screen?"
Gwen smirked, "Yeah. He lied about something to me and I beat the crap out of him. I ended up scaring him to be my friend." She laughs remembering that moment. They were only four at that time.
Lila stared at the girl strangely.
"That picture on my lock screen was when I beat the crap out of him," Gwen laughs. "He was more of a lonely person and would cling to my side. But he was the smartest person I have ever known."
"Was?" Lila asked, now intrigued.
Gwen's smile slowly dimmed, "Yeah. He passed away a few months ago. Still a fresh wound."
Lila frowned, remembering her father. "How...how did he pass away?"
Gwen sat back and leaned on the bench, "At my old school's dance, he tried something in the lab and it ended up killing him."
Lila frowned looking away as she saw a father playing with their daughter. She gritted her teeth and flung her arm to Gwen. The girl flinched at the sudden attack but stopped to see Lila turning away and indicating her to keep healing her. Gwen smiles and puts more balm on her.
"They were my friends," Lila started. "I lied about staying friends with them but they found out I was going to a new school. I told them I could keep in contact but they started a fight and I couldn't finish it."
Gwen listens and wraps a bandage around her arm. "Well, they're stupid. Over a little white lie, it doesn't hurt. But like I told my friend, you shouldn't lie to be something you're not."
"What do you know about that?" Lila turned to her, eyebrow raised.
Gwen shrugs, "I lie all the time but it's to protect my friends. To be honest with you, I don't even know what I am anymore. I don't know what I'm still doing here."
Lila frowns, listening to her words. She used to ask herself that too. But her mom would just nag her all the time for that. "You're just asking for attention."
Gwen stands up, "How about I introduce you to the school tomorrow? That way you don't have to be alone."
Lila hesitates, but nods. She can't trust this girl yet. She'll think like the others. She'll think like her mom.
Gwen smiles, "I'll see you tomorrow at the park."
πΈπ·πΈ
Waking up early, Lila felt a little excited to see the weird blonde girl again. She just hopes she's not like the others. She goes to walk out when she saw her mom in the kitchen. Her eyes darkened and goes to ignore her but she called her.
She stopped and turned to her.
"Good morning," her mom smiles.
"Good morning," Lila puts up a grin. "What are you doing up so early?"
Her mom smiled, "I wanted to see you off. I'm sorry for getting you out of your school. You know how my work is. Let me get my keys."
"It's fine mom, a friend of mine offered to take me there. Bye!"
With that Lila closed her door and sighed. She rolled her eyes and walked to the park close to the school. She waited for a few minutes when she saw Gwen get out of the bakery from the back door.
Gwen spotted her and grinned, waving her hand. Lila sighed and walked toward her. "Come on, the school's just across the street."
The girls walked to the sidewalk and to the school. The students nodded to Gwen as they entered. Some even called out to her but she only kept walking. Lila noticed how the students were grinning at Gwen. Is she popular?
"You need to grab your schedule, right?" Gwen asked, walking up the stairs. Lila followed when she overheard a conversation about Ladybug between the students. She's not really new in Paris. She knew exactly who is Ladybug.
The superheroine in Paris alongside Chatnoir and the new hero Ghost-Spider.
Her personal favorite was Ghost-Spider. She was mysterious and super strong.
If she wants to make new friends, she can find some people to get along with. Her eyes followed Gwen and bit her lip. She can be a start but it wouldn't hurt to have more friends to have your back.
Lila went to the office and got her schedule and walked with Gwen to the locker room. Gwen was taking out some things from her locker. She sweatdropped in disbelief when Lila immediately started making new friends.
She couldn't help but laugh at the lies she kept throwing out. Hell, she even made an interview with Alya about being friends with Ladybug. She shook her head and waited.
Lila smiled at other students and walked to Gwen who raised a brow at her. "What?"
Gwen shook her head, "Lying like that will end up biting you back."
"I didn't lie," Lila defended herself and yelped when Gwen poked her eye-lid.
"Your eye twitched," Gwen smirked. She looked over Lila's shoulder and saw Adrien walking to school. She grinned and grabbed Lila's hand, dragging her to her best friend.
"Omen!" Gwen smirked.
Lila's eyes widened at the boy. He was attractive. He is very attractive. Is he Gwen's boyfriend?
"Gwendy," Adrien smiled, swinging an arm around the blonde's shoulders. "I heard you had a day off yesterday and you didn't consider calling me? I'm hurt."
Gwen chuckled, "I was going to but then I thought of having a break off from you."
Adrien laughs, shaking his head. He turned to Lila who stiffened under his gaze. He smiles, "I'm Adrien. You're new here?"
"I-I..." Lila stuttered and stopped when Gwen smiled at her. She felt confident in herself and smiled. "I'm Lila. It's nice to meet you."
He smiles, "It's nice to meet you too. How do you know Gwen?"
Lila shrugs, "It's a long story. I was lost and she was nice to help me."
Gwen rolled her eyes at her lie but left it be, letting him believe it. "I bumped into her yesterday when I was walking around the park."
Adrien smiles, "Gwen has a habit of helping others. She's cool to hang around."
"Are you guys dating?" Lila asked.
Gwen and Adrien blinked before turning to each other. They chuckled before shaking their heads, "No, we're best friends."
Lila grinned, seeing that she might have a chance but stopped. What if Gwen likes him? What is she thinking? She cannot care about someone she met yesterday. But why is she hesitating?
Gwen smiles as Adrien drags her to the library. "I have something cool to show you."
Gwen saw the lonely look in Lila's eye and grabbed her hand, "Sure, let's go. I want to look for books for English anyway."
As they walked to the library, Marinette frowned when she saw the new girl. Especially when she is walking with Adrien and Gwen. She knew that Gwen doesn't have feelings for Adrien but the new girl?
She decided to follow them.
Adrien sat and grinned at Gwen, pulling out his father's book. It had a strange symbol on the cover which made Gwen frown at it.
"What is it?" Gwen asks, grabbing the book from it. Her eyes widened when she saw Chatnoir with different codes on it, the next page was of Ladybug too.
"It's a book about superheroes. I found it in my dad's office," Adrien looked at the Ladybug picture with awe.
Gwen chuckles, "That's cool I guess." Lila smiles sitting next to her with a book in her hand. She spotted the book and grabbed it from him.
"What's that?" she asked.
"Uh, nothing! Just a book about superheroes," Adrien nervously smiled.
Lila grins, "I love superheroes. My favorite is Ghost-Spider!" She stopped when she saw Gwen smirk. She huffed and looked away. "I mean, she's cool in my book."
Adrien laughs. Marinette on the other hand wasn't able to hear their conversation clearly and paled when Lila made Adrien laugh. Hell, she even made Gwen smile too!
She looked behind her and saw a book cart. She used it to scoot closer to them.
Gwen's senses flared and spotted the book cart scooting toward them. She frowned at it when she saw the familiar backpack. She inwardly sighed as she wasn't surprised to see Marinette close.
She basically has an Adrien radar.
Seeing Gwen being close friends with Adrien, made Lila want to be his friend too. In habit, she believed that if she lied right now, it would make things worse. But a little white lie wouldn't hurt, would it? Besides, it's not like the actual hero will come to her.
"You know, I actually happen to be very close friends with Ladybug," Lila smiled at them.
Gwen saw through her and sighed but Adrien's eyes widened, "Really?!"
"We can chat more about it if you guys want. Not here, though. Why don't we meet at the park after school and I'll tell you everything," Lila smiles.
They were abruptly interrupted as the book cart crashed to the other side of the library. The others didn't think much of it but Gwen can see Marinette under the table.
Adrien's phone started ringing which made him flinch when he saw the timer. "I gotta go! I've got a lesson in...58 seconds."
He grabbed his book but accidentally dropped it when Lila called him, "So, the park? We can get ice cream later?"
Adrien smiles at them before turning to Gwen, "Sure. Do you work today?"
Gwen shook her head, "I worked this morning, I'll catch you later."
Adrien nodded before leaving. Lila spotted Adrien's book and picked it up. "He forgot it, should we go after him?"
Gwen grabbed the book from her and lightly hit her head, "Do you want to explain to me why your eye twitched you mentioned Ladybug?"
Lila groaned before covering her face with her hands, "Sorry. I wanted to make more friends and he looks cool."
Gwen shook her head, "Just be yourself. You don't need to lie about that. Adrien is a big fan of Ladybug. I don't want you lying to my best friend, got it?"
Lila nods and they both walk out.
πΈπ·πΈ
After school came around and Lila went to the jewelry store. In the book the three were looking at earlier, was from a vixen miraculous. She liked it, hoping to make herself feel like a superhero like Ghost-Spider.
Gwen was already at the park, looking through the book. She frowned as the book was filled with miraculouses. Especially this Hawkmoth. She felt drawn to the pictures of the superheroes.
"So the miraculous is much more than I thought," Gwen whispered to herself. No wonder Ladybug was being protective of the miraculouses. But why did Adrien have this book? It's filled with codes she was not sure of.
Lila came and sat next to her. She felt awkward and spoke up, "I wanted to thank you for yesterday."
Gwen closed her book and looked at her, "No need to do that. I was just around the neighborhood."
She sighed, "I know. It's just. It's going to be hard for me to have friends. I have this nasty habit to lie to people. I'm going to try to stop it...if you can be my friend."
Gwen observed her again but she didn't see any twitches on her. She passed her the book, "Why don't you explain to Adrien your truth and give this to him."
Lila was about to reply when she spotted Adrien walking toward them. "Hi."
Lila felt more nervous and just sat next to Gwen as Adrien sat on the other side. Lila grabbed the book to hand it to him but she accidentally dropped it in the trash bin next to them.
"Oh no!" she whispered. Gwen didn't suspect it and grew nervous. What is she going to do now?!
Adrien was actually excited to know more about Lila. How does she know Ladybug? He saw it from the Ladyblog but he wants to hear it from her.
"So you do know Ladybug, for real?" Adrien started the conversation.
"I uh...the truth is...um," Lila stuttered, not knowing what to say. Gwen encouraged her to go on but her mouth blurted out more lies out of habit.
"Not only did she save my life, we've become very close friends because we have something very special in common. It's what I wanted to tell you guys about. I'm the descendant of a vixen superheroine myself, Volpina."
"Volpina?" Adrien asked in awe while Gwen asked incredulously.
"Wait a minute! I think I read about her in my book!" Adrien goes to open his backpack which made Lila more nervous and closed it shut.
"Of course, she's in your book. She's one of the most important superheroes. Actually more powerful and most celebrated than Ladybug," Lila lied with ease.
Gwen only deadpanned at her. Seriously? More powerful? Don't let Ladybug hear that.
Lila showed her necklace, "My grandma gave me this necklace."
Gwen stomped on her foot, which made her wince. Lila laughs which made Adrien confused.
Lila goes to clear her name when suddenly Ladybug literally jumped into the conversation, standing in front of the group.
"Well hey, Lila! How's it going? Long time no see. I saw your interview on the Ladyblog, awesome job," Ladybug sarcastically speaks before leaning close to Lila.
"Oh, sure! I remember our instant connection when I saved your life and we've been really good friends ever since! Practically BFFs!" she crossed her fingers which is making Lila uncomfortable in being exposed in front of Gwen and her friend.
"Uh, actually. When did I save your life again, Lila? I don't recall. Oh, yes! Of course, now I remember. Never!" Ladybug shouts at her before taking a few steps back and looking at Adrien.
"And we're not friends either! Miss Show-Off here was trying to impress you and everyone around her."
Gwen's eyes widened at her behavior and looked at Lila who was crying in humiliation. Adrien looked at Lila, "So, I'm guessing you're not the descendant of a superhero either?"
"She's more like a super liar," Ladybug smirked.
Lila gritted her teeth, "How dare you?!"
She ran away. Gwen's eyes widened and glared at Ladybug. What the hell's her deal? She shook her head and ran after the girl. "Lila!"
"Get away from me!" Lila cried, running faster from the girl.
Gwen looked around and caught up to the girl, grabbing her from the shoulders. "Lila, hey."
Lila squirmed and cried more in frustration. "Get off of me! I'm only trying to impress you, aren't I?! Looking for attention?! Just go away!"
Gwen's eyes softened, "Sure, it's not right to be something you're not but Ladybug also went too far. She didn't have to do that in front of Adrien like that. We can still go back to him and tell him the full truth this time. I'll be in every step of the way."
Lila sniffed and cried more when she saw a poster of Ladybug in front of them. "I hate her! How could sheβ? And you? What about you?"
Gwen blinked, "What about me?"
Lila huffed, knowing better to ask for the girl's opinion about her. She doesn't know Gwen well, the girl can turn her back on her too. Everyone always does!
"I'm not a big fan of Ladybug if that's what you want to hear," Gwen interrupted but smiled, "But I know that at least she's trying to be a hero. What she did was wrong, but karma is a thing and it'll come to her for this day."
Lila's eyes widened. She never thought someone would agree with her. She's seeing a new light from Gwen and she actually likes it. Maybe Gwen really is different from others.
Perhaps, she is more special than her own family. Lila did something she never thought she would ever do. She hugged her and cried more, feeling relieved that she is not alone anymore. She can finally have a friend.
A real friend.
Gwen smiles and hugs her back. After a few minutes, Gwen steps back. Lila composed herself a little and she smiled.
"Do you want me to go with you to talk to Adrien?" Gwen asks, still unsure if the girl would lie again.
Lila shakes her head and smiles genuinely at her, "I'm okay. I'll talk to him."
Gwen smiles and walks away. She later frowned that Ladybug would do that to Lila. They're both in the wrong and they could have talked in private.
It's no surprise that Ladybug speaks her mind to others, but to take it out on a civilian? There are moments when civilians can be crazy and lie on social media, but she had to assure them.
Did she react like that for her own sake or for someone else? She stopped when she remembered Ladybug smirking when Adrien figured out the truth.
She groaned and facepalm at the realization. How could she not have known? Back with Simon Says, she stayed close to him.
Ladybug likes Adrien.
Gwen rolled her eyes. 'Great, so she was jealous.'
"Idiot."
When Gwen was away from a few blocks, Lila stayed on her spot staring at the Ladybug poster. She gritted her teeth. She couldn't care less if she was exposed by Adrien now. She started to care about Gwen's opinion on it and she felt more embarrassed.
"What if she was lying? She couldn't be, she wouldn't have lied to me." Lila flopped to the ground and gritted her teeth.
An akuma flew to her necklace, akumatizing her.
πΈπ·πΈ
Gwen was entering her apartment when she heard gasps outside and some pointing to the sky. Her heart dropped when her senses didn't alert her. There's a meteor heading down straight to the city.
She ran to the nearest hiding spot and punched her fists together. She webbed to the citizens. A meteor that large can instantly kill everyone, there's no stopping it!
That's when her senses flared. A flying orange figure flew to the meteor and stopped it with her own bare hands. Her eyes widened as she couldn't believe it.
A raging fire meteor could have instantly killed the girl, but it didn't. Just who is she?
The girl threw the meteor away and landed on top of a building. She stood in front of the citizens and grinned, "I am Volpina, the only superhero Paris needs!"
The Parisians cheered for her. Not far from them, Ladybug stood far off and frowned at the new hero. "Volpina?"
Chat noir lands next to her, "Looks like we have a new partner."
"Don't you think it's weird this superhero just appeared out of nowhere?" Ladybug asked.
"Well, at least she got the job done. If she hadn't been hereβ"
"I could have easily stopped the meteorite myself," Ladybug crossed her arms defensively.
"Hey! Relax! I'm just saying she seems seriously awesome," Chat grinned.
They were interrupted as Volpina landed in front of them in a hurry. "Hey, guys! Glad you dropped in, I need a hand. Come on!" She flew off as Ladybug and Chatnoir followed behind.
Far away from them, Ghost was in a sticky situation. She confronted Volpina earlier and her spidey senses alerted her. She attacked her. Volpina was informed by Hawkmoth how intelligent Ghost was and to separate her from the others in order for the plan to work.
Because of this, Ghost was encountered with an illusion of an army of Volpina.
"Well, shit," Ghost gritted her teeth and turned on her blasters. She'll just have to get rid of them and catch up to the others.

Volpina smirked when she had Ladybug trapped with bombs.
"I wouldn't move an inch if I were you," Volpina smirks as Ladybug gasps seeing her. "Don't worry Ladybug, I don't wanna be your friend. I already have one and you won't ruin it for me!"
Ladybug gasps, "Lila?"
Volpina glares, "You will call me Volpina!"
"You're not a superhero. You're another one of Hawkmoth's akumatized victims!"
"Everyone thinks I'm a superhero, including Chatnoir. So you won't be able to call me a liar anymore 'cause everyone will think you're the liar! Once I get rid of you and Ghost-Spider, you are going to give me your miraculous!"
Ladybug's eyes widened, "What did you do to Ghost?!"
Lila smirks, "She figured me out by a glance. So, I separated her from you as you are vulnerable without her! She can't stand a chance against me. So give me your miraculous!"
Ladybug glares, covering her ears. "Never!"
Volpina raised the bombs at Ladybug. "Do you think you've got a choice, Ladybug? You'll give me your miraculous or the building goes down!" she pointed at the nearest building.
"You wouldn't do that!"
Volpina goes to blow on her flute but a lit hand punched through her, poofing her away. The bombs were directed at the attacker but Ghost was faster and punched them to non-existence.
Ladybug's eyes widened when Ghost landed in front of her, exhausted. "It's an illusion! Just like the meteorite! Just like Hawkmoth! Illusion, lies. Of course!"
Gwen slapped Ladybug's head making her wince at the strength and glare at her. "What was that for?!"
"You shouldn't have your emotions influence your decisions! Look what happened! Clear your head and focus on your job. That's why you're here. You're a hero! Don't use your power to your advantage! Now let's go!"
Ladybug blinked at Ghost's outburst. She never thought Ghost would snap at her like that. But she had a point and sighed. She nodded, "You're right. I'm sorry."
Ghost shook her head, "Apologize at the girl when you save her."
Ghost has an idea where Volpina will be heading. But she's not sure. She only met the lonely girl yesterday. If her instincts are right, she just hopes Volpina doesn't destroy her house.
Ladybug nods and calls Chatnoir. "Is Volpina with you?"
"No! And I can't find Hawkmoth either," Chatnoir replied.
"Forget it. He was never there in the first place," Ghost stepped closer to Ladybug's screen.
"Ghosty?" Chat blinked before shaking his head. "What do you mean? But we saw him."
"That's Volpina's power. She creates Illusions. The Hawkmoth we saw wasn't real," Ladybug informed.
"What are you trying to say?"
"She's not a real superhero. She was akumatized by Hawkmoth!"
"I don't get it. Why did he do it?" he frowned.
"I think it's partly my fault. I ruined her chances with a guy she likes," Ladybug guiltily looked away.
'Partly?' Ghost's eye twitched.
"I'm sure she's going to Gwen's house. She mentioned she has one friend and she was close to her. I'll send you the address," Ladybug hung up before turning to Ghost.
"I have a mission for you, can you please check on Adrien?"
"Is this because you have a crush on the boy?" Ghost crossed her arms which made Ladybug's face explode red.
"What?! What are you talking about?! I don't love him!"
Ghost shrugged, it can be an excuse to go to her apartment before Volpina gets there. She nods and heads to Adrien's house direction before turning to her apartment.
She jumped inside her window and punched her fists together. She sighs, rubbing her nape.
"How come I always end up in danger?" she sweatdropped.
Her senses flared and smirked. She put up an act and turned around to see Volpina standing in front of her. The window was wide open with the curtain pushed aside.
"Gwen!" she exclaims, hugging the girl.
Gwen flinched, "Who are you?"
"Do you remember this necklace?" she showed her fox tail necklace. "I'm not lying. I am a superhero."
"Lila?!" Gwen's eyes widened.
"You can call me Volpina. I'm sorry about the scene earlier today. I just hope we can still be friends for this. Ladybug's jealous because she's not as powerful as me."
Gwen's senses flared and she saw Ladybug and Chatnoir in the corner of her eyes but focused solely on Volpina.
She smiled and poked her eyelid making Volpina's eyes widen. "You can lie to anyone, Lila. But you can't fool me."
Stop crying! If you're going to lie to me, it's better to just stay quiet! No wonder he left!
Volpina's eyes watered and gritted her teeth. "I'm not lying!"
Gwen shook her head, "Lila. If you're lying to keep up a facade to shield yourself, it's fine. I...I felt a connection to you when I saw you. It won't bring Peter back but I can still help you. I can still save you from whatever darkness pushes you down. If you let me."
Tears spilled to the floor. Overwhelming tears burned her. She hated it. She hated it so much! How can someone like her understand her?
She hugged the girl. Full of emotions exploded on her, making her sob and cling to the girl. Hawkmoth would speak over her but she only wanted her new friend.
She couldn't hurt Gwen. Not when there's a chance she can understand her better.
"You can still stop this, Lila. I won't blame you. Give me your necklace," Gwen whispered.
Volpina cried and stood up, grabbing her necklace and handing it to Gwen. "I can never lie to you, will I?"
Gwen smiled before bumping her head against the girl affectionately. "Not as long as I'm still breathing."
She dropped the necklace and stepped on it, crushing it.
Volpina turned back to Lila.
Ladybug jumped inside and captured the akuma. This was the first time she didn't need to use the lucky charm. She was shocked to see Gwen helping someone who was akumatized. She really is brave.
She walked to the girl and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Lila? I'm so sorry. I totally overracted and...never should've spoken to you like that."
Lila's eyes darkened at the hero and moved away from her. "Forget it, Ladybug. You were right. We'll never be friends."
Ladybug saw her rejection and left the scene. Chat on the other hand stayed behind to check on Gwen. She has been getting into horrible situations. She was right, she always end up getting bad luck.
But is it always a bad thing?
Chat smiled as Gwen hugged Lila to her. "She's amazing," he whispered.
He didn't realize this, but seeing Gwen glance at him made his heart jump.
A/N: Woohoo! End of Season 1! Oh my god! I never thought that this story would be liked much and I'm crying to see so much support from all of you and I can't express how happy I am. Today was also my last day of school for the summer (Thank god).
You're probably confused about this chapter. I have been personally requested to give Lila more character. And I agreed as Lila is a great character but a loss of potential in the show. I want to at least change that and make her Gwen's friend.
Two broken girls deserve the world, don't you think? π
Because, what's the point in being a villain if you're not going to show your full backstory. I didn't show much of her but I will be from now on.
I hope you guys are okay with that. π₯²
I was even tempted to update every day when I started this story but I had to have patience and update my other stories.
I love you guys so much! That is why the next chapter will be a Questionnaire!
Throw me any questions you want me to answer about anything right here.
P.S. I made a small drawing that is dedicated to you guys β€οΈ
I hope you guys are safe! Love ya!
