The rustling and the clatter noises coming from the bedroom were heard in the apartment. The insistent drip of sweat falling on her nape and temple was distracting but her focus was still directly on the metal in front of her. She can feel the strain in her muscles as she continues to smash down on the metal and calculate at the same time.
Gwen could have used the machine to create it. But there must have been a reason for why it was made. There must be something hidden within the blade that has to be made by her hand only. Why in the form of a blade? Why in months from now? She couldn't wrap her head around it.
Even though she had the assumption that she would eventually not make it to live a further life or she would end up leaving the dimension and making it home. She is still confused about why she had created a sword to suck the stones. And why a sword when she could have made a syringe or something similar?
Just what was she thinking?
Gwen grunts as she finally manages to flatten the metal to her satisfaction, ignoring the scrapes and bleeding on her knuckles. She raised the flat metal towards the window where the beige curtains hardly covered the sun, illuminating the sticky room. Her blue eyes narrowed on the metal, trying to remind herself exactly what the blade looked like.
"J.A.N.E.T.," she spoke up, twirling the metal to look more closely. Almost in hopes that somehow future Gwen would send a carving for the purpose of the blade form suctioning. But nothing. "Scan me again," she ordered as she placed the blade back on the floor and started flattening it more. It was still thick.
"Your body temperature is increasing. Please rest," J.A.N.E.T. stated but Gwen ignored its concern.
"I'm still trying to figure this out. It's getting annoying, you know?" she grunts as she webbed the aluminum oxide sandpaper and started gently before continuing rhythmically on the service on the steel.
"Adrien wishes to see you this afternoon," J.A.N.E.T. informed, making Gwen stop momentarily before continuing. "Shall I set up a reservation to theβ"
"Thank you, J.A.N.E.T. but that won't be necessary," Gwen smirked as she dipped the metal in the basin filled with cool water. The excess of metal and sand spread on the surface of the liquid while Gwen cracked her knuckles, groaning as she felt her wrists pop.
She sighed as she stood up from the ground, grabbing the edge of her bed to stabilize herself before walking towards her cabinet. "Let him know that I'll meet him after work. Damn, my back is killing me," she muttered most to herself while arching her back to loosen the muscles tightening.
"Very well, Gwen. I suggest a LONG bath to rid of the odor."
Gwen stopped, looking down at herself and nodding as she noticed the excess metal smudge over her pants and forearms.
"On it, thanks."
Gwen walked over to her smaller cabinet and pulled out what she needed before stepping out of the room to walk toward her bathroom. However, a sudden ping sound came from her room, stopping her in her tracks.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she could have missed it. But the small whirring sound started from her room, making her drop her clothes on the floor and walk back to her room.
"Did it work?" her eyes widened in disbelief as she saw the small watch in the fabricator. Well, she wouldn't consider it a fabricator anymore. More like a 3-D-printing machine. She slowly walked towards the machine, observing the finished product of the watch.
"Report," Gwen ordered as she opened the clear glass and pulled out the red and silver watch. She chuckled as she saw the small thin metal arms ticking per second.
"It has been a success," J.A.N.E.T. softly spoke.
Gwen laughed, practically bouncing on her feet as she looked at it. After so many calculations and tests, she finally managed to do it.
A multiverse wristband.
It may not be as futuristic as many would hope based on the vibranium used but it was perfect. It looks just like a normal watch. And of course, with today's date carved on the side. Now, to use it she isn't so sure when. She is still focused on grabbing the pearled necklace before leaving the dimension.
Gwen chuckled, shaking her head in pride and disbelief. She was able to make it happen. Her first machine was too large for her taste. So, she's contented to see that she made it wearable and easy to carry.
This is valuable to lose and destroy. She has the blueprints already saved in the machine. But to think that she was able to make it. She is tempted to try it out but flooding concerns already started to spread in her mind.
What if she accidentally goes to another dimension? What if it's a one-way trip? What if it takes too much energy and accidentally takes her to a void? What if she explodes? What if it doesn't work?
Gwen sighed, already feeling down just by looking at the watch. Placing it back on the machine, she started walking back towards the bathroom to bathe. Fully unaware of the watch lighting up as it connected from an outside source.
πΈπ·πΈ
"Today's the day, I can feel it!" Alya grinned, pumped for the good feeling she'd felt since she woke up. Just earlier, Marinette declared to the girls that she was going to gift Adrien a berret for his fifth name's day. As expected, the girls were excited to hear about that.
Alix was amused and only navigated around the cones she set up to skate. It was a bummer Gwen was working today. It has been a while since all the girls hung out. Gwen usually kept to herself or was with Adrien or Lila. There's no problem with that but sometimes, they wish for the girl to be with everyone. She's really cool.
Gwen is the kind of person to ditch school and spray paint walls and still somehow be the mayor of Paris because she's the friendliest and the best person to get along with.
"Bet you my skates she won't do it," Alix chuckled.
"And I'll bet my favorite unicorn that she will!" Rose grinned, also excited to witness any kind of romance. Especially Marinette's. That girl is just so complicated.
"Oh, Marinette!" Mylène blinked, noticing the topic of their conversation walking towards them with a nervous frown.
The girls blinked, not expecting the girl to come by so soon. But seeing the gifted present in the girl's hands, they immediately groaned that she didn't, once again, go through with it.
Marinette grimaced at their faces, holding her present tightly. "I was just thinking maybe Adrien doesn't like berets, or what if he hates it when people celebrate his fifth name's day? Or...maybe he wouldn't want to know that I love him?"
Alix smirked, sticking her hand out to Rose. "Don't worry, Princess Twinkle Peach will be happy with me."
Rose pouted, losing the bet and reluctantly handed her plush unicorn to a satisfied Alix.
"The only way you'll know is to tell him how you feel," Alya tried but Marinette sulkingly sat on the bench beside the picnic basket. Juleka quietly sighed, sitting on top of the bench while continuing to strum the guitar.
Marinette sighed, "I know, but..." she goes to reach over the picnic basket but Rose shuts it with a huff.
"That's it, Marinette!"
All the girls' eyes widened in disbelief as the most kind-hearted person in school was suddenly fed up and turned to Marinette with a glare.
"No more picnics, sleepovers, or going to the movies with us until you give him that gift! You made that hat for Sant Athanasius Day, which is today! How is Adrien supposed to know you're thinking of him on his fifth name's day if you don't give him your gift?" Rose scolded with a glare.
Alya grinned, now feeling pumped by Rose's words. "She's right! Today's the day!"
The girls grinned, chanting to Marinette to go. Marinette looked at the girls with uncertainty but she felt a sudden confidence fill her that made her legs stand up on her own. She gripped on the present and started heading over to Adrien's.
"Rise and shine!" Mylène waved her arms, almost as if giving her confidence powers. "Behold, the goddess of self-confidence has awakened!"
Feeling more inspired, Marinette bolted.
"And don't forget the card!"
Marinette ran, grinning widely as her eyes seemed to even brighten at the idea of what would occur. She ran without a care and ignored everything around her. She has a goal in mind and she will not put it to waste.
"Are you really gonna do this?" Tikki peeked out of her bag, looking up at her.
Marinette nodded, "I am, Tikki, and you know what I won't take for an answer?"
πΈπ·πΈ
"No," Nathalie bluntly stated.
Marinette grimaced, "Okay, well..." She honestly wasn't sure what she was supposed to do next. She's not the most confrontational person when it comes to Adrien. "Uh, when will he be back?"
"I can't tell you. Goodbye, young lady," the camera retreats back to the wall as Marinette blinks.
Marinette pulled out her phone and looked at the time and the saved schedule in her file. "But Adrien's fencing class ended 27 minutes ago! He should be back by now!"
Tikki peeked out slightly, "Maybe you can give him his present tomorrow at school?"
Marinette shook her head, looking around. "No. You heard what Rose said. I can't back out again." She started running across the street before looking back at the mansion with determination filling her. "Since he's not back yet, I can go through the windoβ!"
Glitch
Marinette shook her head, looking around. "No. You heard what Rose said. I can't back out again." She started running across the street before looking back at the mansion with determination filling her. "Tikki Spots on!"
Ladybug grinned, gripping the present before jumping to the nearest roof. Grabbing her yo-yo, she threw her arm back to aim when a sudden pop was heard behind her. She frowned, looking behind her to see Bunnyx stepping out of the portal and falling to her knees.
Ladybug gasped, dropping to her knees and hovering her hands up with worry. "Bunnyx?" she took in the older hero and furrowed her brows more to look at the poor condition she was in. The woman panted and looked paler than her usual rosy skin. Her hair was disheveled and burned from the tips. Her body trembled from exhaustion and was visibly shaken.
"WhatβWhat are you doing here? What happened to you?" Ladybug grabbed onto the woman's arms but Bunnyx hastily grabbed her hands and pulled her closer.
"Ladybug. The universe is out of balance. We have no time to waste," Bunnyx panted with a desperate glare in her eyes. "Call Chat Noir now."
Ladybug shook her head in confusion. What's going on? Why is Bunnyx acting like this? And why only Chat?
Not far from them, a passing limousine headed back to the mansion. Adrien lightly smiled at the medal wrapped around his neck. Almost by instinct, he looked out the window frowning to see two people on the roof. He recognized Ladybug, however, it took him another second to realize it was Bunnyx on the roof and not Ghost.
He frowned, unsure of why the woman was here but he had a feeling it meant trouble. He wasn't far from his house, so when the limo parked, he stepped out of the car and started running to the stairs but was met with Nathalie standing in the doorway.
"You're very late, Adrien," she stated loud and clear.
Adrien frowned, holding his medal. "The awards ceremony took longer than expected. Then we gave Kagami a ride home."
Nathalie stepped aside for the boy as he walked inside. He stopped by the door and glanced at his father's office, knowing full well his father remained closed. "Will you let my father know I won?"
Nathalie nodded, "As soon as he's done with his work."
Adrien sighed in disappointment and normally walked up the stairs but the thought of Ladybug and Bunnyx made his haste faster as he got into his room.
"Something's going on," Adrien voiced out his concerns as Plagg flew out of his bag.
"Oh relax," Plagg grinned, flying over to his cabinet to find any cheese.
But the feeling still wouldn't go away. He was tempted to go and find out why Bunnyx was here but he also knows to trust Ladybug to come to him and tell the situation...except she doesn't know who Chat Noir is.
"Plagg," he calls out. "Claws out!"
"Noo!" Plagg clung to the piece of cheese but lost his grip as he was sucked into the ring before the transformation.
Chat jumped out of the window and headed towards the heroes. Getting closer to them he became aware that Ghost hadn't arrived yet. Bunnyx noticed him instantly and waved him over. Ladybug frowned, turning around in time for Chat to arrive.
He grinned at them, "What a nice day to meet you on a suddenly unexpected and interrupted afternoon. What brings you hereβ" Chat blinked, taking in Bunnyx's state. "Uh...did Barney stomp on you on your travels?" he tilted his head in confusion.
"No time to explain," Bunnyx stood straighter. "Something happened today that caused a major disaster in the future. I'm not sure what it was or when it happened exactly. Nothing unusual to report on your side?" she asked desperately, mostly turning to Chat who glanced at Ladybug who shrugged.
He chuckled nervously, "Uh...no?"
"Think! Did something something to Ghost?"
"Ghost?" Ladybug's and Chat's eyes widened in worry.
Bunnyx hesitated, glancing at Ladybug before groaning. She grabbed their wrists and started dragging them to her portal. "In my burrow, now!"
The pair watched in awe at the many portals around the void. Many in different colors. However, Chat couldn't help but narrow his eyes to the black circles taking most of the space.
"Wow, it's a lot bigger on the inside!" Ladybug watched in awe but Bunnyx wasn't wasting any time, walking straight towards one of the black portals. Placing her hand on it, it rapidly started to rewind while Ladybug and Chat continued to look around in excitement.
Chat ran to one of the colorful portals and placed his hand on it too only to yelp to see a shark heading for him. He immediately removed his hand in time for Ladybug to remove hers too. Bunnyx noticed what they were doing and put two bowls on top of their heads.
"What's that for?" Ladybug frowned.
"You wanna know what you're getting for your next birthday?" Bunnyx raised an unimpressed brow.
"No, of course not."
"We can?" Chat blinked but stopped as Bunnyx gave him a pointed look before guiding them back to the black circle.
"What about you?" Chat asked. "You know about all your birthday presents?"
Bunnyx chuckled, smiling in nostalgia. "I know about...some of them." She unblurs one of the circles, showing the moment her father gave her the watch to her younger self. "Normally, we have to avoid interfering with past or present events as much as possible, but this is really serious, guys."
She blurs the circle back to what it was and tries to push them into it but her hands gitches, becoming intangible. She gasped, gritting her teeth. "Our future is in danger! I need your help once more. Whatever you do, don't look at the bodies."
"Wait, what?" Both heroes' eyes widened, but Bunnyx shoved them out of the portal.
Bunnyx hesitated but finally removed the bowls off their heads, making them blink at the view. They frowned, seeing the city of Paris with the usual summer glow. The sound of cars and people in the street was normal. The heroes looked confused.
What are they supposed to be looking at?
"Are we back home?" Ladybug looked up at Bunnyx but Bunnyx looked horrified, looking around the city.
"The less you know about the future, the better," Bunnyx gritted her teeth. "Just do your thing: capture the akuma and restore order. Then, the train will be back on track."
Bunnyx started walking away when they asked, "You're not staying?"
"Let's say I gotta stand ready to jump back into time and try something else, in case you fail, mwah!" Bunnyx returned to her burrow.
The heroes stood in silence, still confused about the situation. They both started walking to the edge of the tower and looked down at the city. The people looked happy, conversing with one another. They don't seem frightened or worried. So...where's the akuma?
"Something isn't right," Ladybug voiced out her concerns.
"I'll say," Chat scratched his nape. "Where's the akuma? And couldn't we have called Ghosty for this 'mission'?"
"Yeah," Ladybug frowned. "Bunnyx only mentioned to call you here."
Chat hummed, grabbing his staff. "I think it's best to look around. Maybe we can find it faster that way."
Ladybug nodded, grabbing her yo-yo when she saw a shadow covering her. Her eyes widened, "Watch out!" she tackled Chat out of the way in time for a small dove to fly by.
Chat chuckled, amused at Ladybug's nervousness. "Scared by birdie?"
Ladybug frowned, "I could have sworn...never mind." She stood up and helped Chat to his feet. "Let's look around."
With that, the pair jumped off the tower and started jumping through the city. The white dove glided into the sky with the breeze, flapping its wings as it landed on top of a roof. It observed Chat jumping further away.Β
The dove's body glitched for a moment before flying away.
πΈπ·πΈ
Ladybug frowned, jumping and swinging in the city. So many questions flooded her mind. Why would Bunnyx bring them here? There's no danger around. Why did Bunnyx look exhausted and desperate earlier if things were normal here? And why did she bring up Ghost earlier? Did something happen to her?
Worst thoughts suddenly filled her mind. Her eyes widened in horror at the thought of Hawkmoth capturing Ghost. But...
Looking around the city, she still doesn't see the akuma anywhere. Where is the villain?
Ladybug looked down at her yo-yo. If this is the future, would that mean that Ghost is the same person as her Ghost? But she recalled the time when Ghost mentioned that going to the past would not change their future, instead, the past would go their own course from theirs.
Not thinking of ideas at the moment, Ladybug contacted Ghost of this dimension in hopes of the hero answering.Β
"Hey, I'm probably home. I'm just avoiding someone I don't likeβHello."
Ladybug's eyes widened as the voice in her yo-yo seemed louder and clearer behind her. Lowering her yo-yo, she slowly turned around to find no one other than Ghost right behind her.
"Ghost?" her eyes widened. "You're here! I'm glad," she sighed in relief, walking towards her. "Wait," she stopped. "Are you from this dimension or mine?" she took a moment to realize what she was asking and sweatdropped. "That's a stupid question." She rambled on and on, leaving Ghost to blankly stare at her. Ladybug groaned, looking back at her partner but blinked to see her swinging away from her.
"Oh, you know where the akuma is?" she beamed, following after her. "I knew I could count on you."
πΈπ·πΈ
Chat's first thought was back to Gwen. Something still felt wrong in his gut and it brought him back to the apartments and back to Gwen's balcony. He wasn't sure if she was even there. Looking around, he grabbed the handle and pulled but as expected of his favorite girl, it was lockedβnot. It was unlocked?
He frowned, slowly opening the door, and peeked inside. He blinked at how dark the apartment was. "...Gwen?" he called out, stepping inside, unaware of the dove flying between his feet and flying inside and out of view.
He walked over to a couch and reached over for the lamp by a counter and clicked it on, lighting up the room. The living room stayed the same. The same cream-colored walls and wooden kitchen. He walked around the living room, his eyes instinctively following every single object in the room to see any differences.
And he did.
Right by the TV were several picture frames. But there were no pictures in them. Instead, he saw dust on the glass. He frowned, knowing how Gwen likes to have her house clean. Seeing that there was nothing much in the living room, he decided to walk towards her room, knowing that's the 'forbidden' room Gwen doesn't allow anyone in.
However, with each step he took, the light of the living room started to slowly turn off, leaving him in darkness. He stopped, looking back to see the living room still lit up.
He flinched back as the dove flew by and flapped its wings on his face and toward Gwen's room. His heart raced against his chest. "That bird again." It must have accidentally got in from the balcony.
Noticing that it flew towards her room, he also walked along, ignoring how he was slowly leaving the light and into the darkness. Somehow the hallway seemed to be long before he finally encountered the door. His eyes widened at the sight of a white door consumed by golden flames.
"...Gwen?" he picked up the pace as he stood in front of the door. He stiffened as he felt such comforting warmth coming from it. Turning back from the living room, he realized that the living room light was completely off, leaving the golden flames light up the hall.
His green eyes turned to a daze as he felt all his burdens and powers leave him. He hears a name being called out as he touched the door knob. He expected it to burn by the touch but felt such warmth.
"Adrien!"
He flinched, snatching his hand back in shock. His heart raced as his breathing became irregular. His eyes constricted in fear as he took a step back. He could have sworn he heard...
Swallowing a heavy bile, he looked at the door. "...M-Mom?"
He desperately grabbed the knob again and turns it to open when he heard the flapping wings again. Turning around instinctively, he furrowed his brows as he saw a human figure behind him across the hall within the shadows. They were small but standing so still. He shivered uncomfortably.
Leaving his hand off of the knob, he turned around. "Gwen? Is that you?" He frowned as he started walking slowly towards her and away from the door.
He chuckled nervously, "Okay, this is getting creepy."
He blinked as the figure giggled childishly and ran away. "Wha? Hey!" he ran after them. The golden flames slowly extinguished behind him, leaving a trail of smoke as the door disintegrated along with it.
"Hey!" he ran, unsure of why the hallway was longer than the way he was coming from.
"Hurry up! We're going to miss them!" they laughed, hearing the clicking of their shoes running off.
The once solid floor suddenly turned to wet grass as he continued to run. The fresh smell of wet grass was comforting and delicious as he kept running. The dark ceiling was filled with an ocean of stars. Not far from him was a forest of large trees. What is going on?
He stopped as he heard a thump not far from him and ran faster to the sound. That's where he saw her. A small blonde girl was flat on the grass, whimpering and soaked by the grass. She shook the water off her pigtails and looked around. She gasped, looking up at the sky but only whimpered more as if she was missing something out of reach.
"Hey," he cooed, walking towards her to help her up. "Are you lost?" but the little girl seemed to ignore him and hug her knees.
"P-Peter?" she calls out.
Chat stopped, looking at the girl before looking around the find this Peter but he was nowhere. Her lips quivered. "Peter! I'm scared! Where are you?! Peter!" she sobbed.
"Hey, everything is going to be okay," he frowned, unsure of what to do. One thing he was in Gwen's apartment, now he's suddenly in a forest. But there are no forests he knows of in Paris.
"Gwen! Gwen!"
"Peter!"
Chat stopped, his eyes widened in shock and disbelief as he took in the little girl. This is Gwen?! Why is she tiny?!
He took a step back as a little boy ran down the hill to meet the little Gwen but he slipped and rolled down with a scream. Both children screamed as the little boy landed on her. Gwen pouted and shoved the boy off. Peter screamed as he landed on his behind and looked back at her.
"What was that for?!" Peter glared at her, reaching his hand behind him to scratch his back.
"You scared me!" Gwen shouted back.
"Well, you shouldn't go far! Scaredycat!"
Chat observed them, waving a hand in their faces but realized that they didn't see him nor hear him.
"S-Scaredycat?!" Gwen's eyes widened at the boy's audacity and slammed a fist on his head making him exclaim in pain and hold his head tenderly. "Why were you screaming earlier?" she huffed, sitting in front of him.
Peter sighed as he pulled out something out of his pocket. Chat's eyes widened as the boy pulled out a beautiful pearl in his hand. "Wait, that's..." he recalled vividly when Ghost fought desperately for a pearl in Hawkmoth's hand when they first encountered an amok.
"Woah!" Gwen's eyes sparkled. "What is it?"
Peter hummed, "Aunt May said they're called pearls. She said pretty girls wear it as necklaces and earrings."
"Cool!" Gwen reached to grab it but Peter snatched it back. "Hey! I want to see it."
"I found it. I'm going to give it to the prettiest girl!" he turned away.
Gwen gasped and pointed at him accusingly. "I'm pretty! Mommy said so!"
Chat chuckled amusedly at her cuteness. He quietly sat between them, hearing their conversation.
"Yeah right," Peter sweatdropped. "I'm giving it to Aunt May."
"Pfft!" Gwen laughed. "She's old!"
Peter's eye twitched and tackled her onto the ground. Chat sweatdropped as Gwen easily kicked him away and stood up, throwing her hands in the air.
"I win! I always win!" she cheered.
Peter huffed, tucking the pearl in his pocket. "Whatever. You're not pretty anyways. You don't deserve it."
"Oh?" Gwen smirked at the boy. "Once I grow boobs..." she pointed at him, throwing her head far, arching her back to look down at him. "I will be beautiful! Muahahaha!"
"Pfft!" Chat and Peter laughed.
"H-Hey!" Gwen blushed as she stomped on the ground frustratingly.
"Yeah, I'll let you know," Chat rolled his eyes, stopping as he realized he spoke out of his control. Looking beside him, Peter was gone, now leaving him and Gwen in the forest as she turned to him.
Looking up at the sky, he lightly gasped at the colorful wisps taking the sky and surrounding the field they were in. Gwen gasped too, bouncing around to see the pretty lights.
She spread her arms out as Chat stood up too to take in the fireflies. He looked down at her, seeing her smile widely with her front two teeth missing. Feeling something heavy in his pocket, he reached into his pants and pulled out an anklet. He frowned, realizing it was the same anklet he gave to Gwen. How did it get there?
Looking down at Gwen, he realized she didn't have one and kneeled down beside her. Assuming that she couldn't hear or see him, he lightly wrapped the anklet around her right ankle. He smiled contentedly and looked up at her but their surroundings suddenly changed once again.
He gasped as he was kneeling in front of teenage Gwen by the beach. The same sunset glows on her white dress. She was sadly looking down at him with a comforting smile on her face. All air left his lungs at the sight of her, feeling his face burn up at her beauty.Β
He slowly stood up and gave a hand to her.
Gwen stared at it for a moment before slowly grabbing it. Chat flinched, not expecting her to actually grab his hand. But she only continued to look into his eyes. He smiled at her before kissing her head, seeing the familiar flush.
"This can be the symbol of our charm," he spoke once again, remembering these words vividly.
Gwen smiled at him as she slowly removed her hand from his before glitching. Chat's eyes widened, taking a cautious step back and observing in horror as she continued to glitch. "Gwen?!" He reached for her but the beach sand he stood suddenly dropped, causing him to fall deep.
"No! Gwen!" he reached a hand for her but she only continued to smile.
πΈπ·πΈ
Bunnyx continues to rewind, trying to find the main solution. It's getting repetitive but the same thing happens over and over again. Right when she thinks she found the source, she goes for Ladybug and Chatnoir and sends them to the dimension. Only for the source to be wrong. And for that, every single Ladybug and Chatnoir she sends ends with their demise.
But she can't get this wrong. Not again. So what was the source of all this? "Come on, Ladybug," she worriedly continued to rewind to find out how this was happening. She knows that it has something to do with Gwen. So what did she do?
She kept rewinding to today's date and saw Gwen confessing to Luka but the screen glitched, making her know that it was made up and fake. She continued to rewind, stopping at Gwen's apartment with the girl making the familiar blade to suck the stones.
Bunnyx furrowed her brows, realizing it didn't glitch this time, and continued to watch her flatten the metal. What was she making? She saw Gwen stand up and head to the bathroom when a ping was heard in her room.
"Did it work?" Gwen's eyes widened in disbelief as she saw the small watch in the fabricator. "Report," she ordered as she opened the clear glass and pulled out the red and silver watch.
Gwen chuckled, shaking her head in pride and disbelief. Bunnyx's eyes narrowed by how Gwen's small smile slowly dimmed to an exhausted frown. Gwen sighed, already feeling down just by looking at the watch. Placing it back on the machine, she started walking back towards the bathroom to bathe. Fully unaware of the watch lighting up. However, Bunnyx was able to take notice of that immediately and frowned, unsure of why that watch lit up.Β
"What have you done, Gwen?" Bunnyx frowned, placing her hand back at the screen as it sped forward to the moment Gwen stepped out of the bakery, just finished with her shift. It was nighttime by the time she stepped out of the building.
Gwen smirked to see Adrien already waiting for her outside of the building. They both casually talked and smiled within themselves but the screen glitched once more, confusing Bunnyx who hoped to push through and look through the glitch.Β
However, the boy walking contently with Gwen and casually talking to her wasn't Adrien. It was a dark-skinned boy with a buzzcut. It looked like Gwen knew the boy. He was slightly taller than her but the glint in his eyes gave a deeper meaning than just friends. But Gwen seemed oblivious to this as she continued to talk to him.
"Shut it, Omen," Gwen chuckled, lightly punching his shoulder as the boy laughed.Β
"Omen..." Bunnyx frowned, knowing full well Gwen only called Adrien that name. Did Gwen think the boy was Adrien? But that can't be. What is going on? Why does the screen keep glitching the moment she gets closer to the truth? It doesn't make sense.Β
Bunnyx grunted, giving a deeper thought about the situation at hand. Why do the portals keep glitching? Every time she goes back in time to bring a Ladybug and a Chatnoir to the future, they all die at the hands of Ghost. She knows it is selfish to bring the two teens to fight their teammate but she doesn't have a choice. Especially considering she is still unsure of how it could have caused this.Β
Looking back at the glitches in every portal in the realm, a sudden thought came to mind. What if...Gwen is using the stones to try and rewrite what happened to prevent Bunnyx from defeating her.Β
That is one possibility.Β
However, Bunnyx thought back to all the fights she watched Ghost against Ladybug and Chatnoir. She had a different appearance. From a dark suit with white designs to her normal suit. She had to figure out what changed. What is Gwen exactly trying to show her? She knows Gwen is not evil. There has to be something wrong and she will start with that dark-skinned boy.
"Okay, Gwen," Bunnyx murmured as she placed her hand on the screen. "Show me what you want me to see."
The screen sped forward until Gwen and the boy stood in front of the Eiffel Tower. Gwen was smiling at the boy when her smile slowly dropped to shock and took a step back. She stumbled in her step before falling to the ground. Gwen visibly paled before slowly looking up at him.Β
"...Harry?" Gwen's eyes widened in disbelief.Β
Harry removed his hand from his pocket, bringing a familiar watch wrapped around his wrist.
"I thought I should let you down easy," Harry tearily laughed as Gwen teared up too, and jumped to her feet to tackle him in a hug. Harry laughed, hugging her back tightly. Her warm tears already spilled over his white shirt but they were both relieved to see each other.
Gwen moved back, placing her hands on his shoulders, and frowned slightly. "But-But how? How are you here? What was that illusion you put on yourself? How do you know Adriβ?"
Harry raised a hand to stop her, "Gwen. Give me a moment to explain."
Gwen stopped, taking in the boy in front of her. For a boy her age, he looked older and exhausted. For a span of almost a year, the boy had muscles seeping through his shirt.
"Gwen," Harry's eyes saddened. "Peter died because of me," he bluntly stated.
Gwen stiffened at the name but grew confused at the change of topic. Bunnyx couldn't help but hear their conversation more.
Gwen placed a hand on his chest, "Harry. You're talking crazy. That doesn't make sense. Peter was the lizard. He died fighting Ghost-Spider. What in the world could you possibly have doneβ"
"You don't understand, Gwen," Harry interrupted. "You don't." He sighed, feeling a strong bile stuck in his throat. "That night at the prom. The night he changed. He thought I tried to...I don't know what he thought I did to him or why but whatever came out of him. He hated me, Gwen."
Gwen's eyes softened, shaking her head. "Harry, listen to me. Whatever he said, whatever he did...that wasn't who Peter really was. That was years of feeling helpless. Years of bottling it all up. That was the Lizard talking. You couldn't haveβ"
"I saw it all, Gwen," Harry's eyes darkened. "I just stood there and watched Peter die. Ghost-Spider was angry gloating. Beating him wasn't enough. I watched her toy with him. Peter worshipped her. And I watched her break his heart."
Gwen's eyes widened in disbelief. Harry watched her...fight Peter. Her lips lightly quivered but stayed strong. Does...Harry resent her? He never thought that it could be a possibility.
"But, Harry," she continued, ignoring the heavy feeling in her chest. "Ghost-Spider was just trying to help. She didn't know it was Peterβ"
"But I knew, Gwen," Harry interrupted her. "I knew and I didn't say a word or lift a finger to stop her. I just stood there. I just froze like a coward. And for a year I've worked around knowing that if I'd only done something....that I could have stopped it all. So, Cindy Moon and Matt Murdock found me."
Gwen's stomach dropped at the name. Cindy?! Murdock?! What?!
Harry went through his pocket, taking out a control as he pressed a button. A quiet whirring came from behind the tower as a malistic green glider flew towards them. Spikes were on the sides and the front was shaped like a green goblin with scary green eyes, shocking Gwen.
"They taught me how to kill. And when they informed me that Ghost-Spider disappeared to another dimension and took you with her, I knew what I had to do. And now I'm here. I came back so you'd know that whatever I have to do nextβ whatever happens to me...that I did for Peter and for you. That I did it for us."
Gwen watched helplessly as Harry jumped into the glider. "Harry! Stop! Where are you going?! What are youβ"
"She's still out there, Gwen," Harry looked back at her. "Peter's killer is still on the loose. And I'm the only one who can stop her...I'm the only one who can bring Ghost-Spider to justice," Harry exclaimed, flying away.
"Harry!" Gwen screamed, running after him.
"This is worse than I thought!" Bunnyx gasped in horror. This Harry boy came from Gwen's dimension? And he is going to try and kill Gwen. This is horrible!
She sped the screen forward, seeing Gwen still running after the board. However, Gwen wasn't aware of her surroundings and bumped harshly into someone, knocking them both to the ground.
"Sorry!" Gwen rushed to her feet and kept running, but they exclaimed for her to stop. Hearing the familiar voice, Gwen turned back to see Adrien getting to his feet. She felt immense relief to see him and concern as she rushed back to him. "Adrien!" she tackled him in a hug, surprising the boy.
"Gwen?" he blinked and looked down at her with concern. "What's going on? Why were youβ"
"He's here!" Gwen gasped, feeling so much pressure coming to hit her harshly. "He's here!"
"Who's here?" Adrien looked around, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her to his chest while looking around. "Did someone follow you? Are you hurt?"
"Adrien!" Gwen gasped, now aware that tears were starting to spill. "Harry's here! From my dimension!"
Adrien's eyes widened in shock. "What?!"
"I need to go. He wants to kill me, I have to stop him. Stay home and don't go anywhere. I mean it!" Gwen removed from his hold and started running towards where she thought Harry was, ignoring Adrien's shouts and calls.
Bunnyx watches sullenly before shocked when the boy runs after her, completely ignoring the dangers ahead of them.
"Come on, guys!" Bunnyx went to another circle and sped forward to see the progress of the heroes.
Ladybug was jumping to follow Ghost-Spider while Chat kept falling into the abyss, falling into the water.
Bunnyx went back to Gwen's past and saw as Gwen changed into her costume and swung through the city in hopes of baiting Harry to find her.
Ghost knew this was going to happen. Knew they were hunting her. That they'd catch up with her. But she was sick. Sick of feeling like a coward. Tired of hiding in the dark. In the shadows where they can pretend that she's not like them. That everything is her fault.
Ghost panted, jumping to the roof. Hearing a familiar whirring right behind the hung sheets, she smacked them away as she narrowed her eyes at Harry. The boy she cherished and knew since childhood. The boy who she fought alongside to stop bullies from coming near Peter. The boy who took her to prom. The boy now wore a Gree Goblin mechanic suit. Its orange eyes looked at her form from his board.
She was sick of knowing the only reason they chased her at all...
"Enough," Ghost stood strongly on top of the roof just as it started to rain.
...is because they like to watch her run.
"Enough of this! You want to arrest me for what happened to Peter Parker? Fine. I'll go peacefully. But you're going to come down here and hear my side of it first." Ghost shouted at Green Goblin.
"Arrest you? Heh," he scoffed as he released razor bats her way. "Who said anything about arresting you?"
Ghost jumped and dodged the bats. She's an idiot.
"Now. This is a store-eee all 'bout how-muh life turned upside down," she lightly sang, flipping in the air and grunting as she felt one of the bats graze at her vibranium arm.
A child who lives in a fantasy world...
"No. No. Enoughβenough of that." she watched as Green Goblin flew away to keep distance and continue throwing razor bats.
"That is not the TV theme I'm gonna die singing!" Ghost exclaimed, dodging the bats.
She's out here why? Because the truth will solve this.
Cupping her hands together, she gathered a blob of web and caught one of the flying blades, swinging it right back at him.
The truth is that her friend Peter Parker turned himself into a monster. And she blames herself for that. The truth is right here, right now. It's all happening again.
The bat struck at Green Goblin's chest just as the bomb set off. She was close to the explosion as the impact flung her back against the hung sheets.
And there's nothing she can do to stop it. Again.
Ghost sat up, removing the sheets from her form. "Annn if ya threw a paar-taaay...innn-vited errrry-one yooou kneeeew..." she dizzily sang before groaning, standing up and holding her back. "Yeah, okay. That song is great. So classic. So comforting...such a fantasy."
All she can do is face it. The horrible truthβHarry Osborn is back. And he's out for her blood.
Her eyes narrowed the dust cleared away to reveal Harry on his glider looking down at her. She pants, unsure of how to start to explain. He deserves the truth. She's not sure what Cindy or Murdock told him but she knew that she has to be the one to tell him everything.
"Listen to me, Osborn," Ghost spoke. "I know who you are, okay, Harry? I know you were there whenβwhen it happened. When your friend Peter died. I know what you think but I swear to you I didn't know he was that monster. I was afraid. Scared that I couldn't stop him. I didn't mean to hurt him. To push him so hard. Iβ"
"Liar!" Harry shouted, swinging his arm angrily. His large sharp orange eyes on the mask almost seemed to glow menacingly. "He begged you! Pleaded for you to stop! And you toyed with him! Laughed at his pain! You broke his heart...and I-I just stood there...watching it all like a stupid movie."
"Harry, noβIβ" Ghost hesitated. Just tell him. "I was just scared. Hiding behind what I thought a hero was supposed to beβ"
Pull off your mask, Gwen.
"Harry, I knowβyou won't believe me. But I know what you've been through. What you're going through. I live with it too."
Show him like you showed Dad.
"I know the weight of not being able to stop it. To change it. But I swear to you, Harry..."
Show him the truth.
"None of this is your fault."
Harry's eyes widened in shock before narrowing them behind his mask, glaring seethingly at Ghost. "ThisβThis is 'your side'? This is your case? These are the words you think will make me forget?! Are these words supposed to bring Peter back?!" he launched pumpkin bombs at her.
Ghost's eyes widened, jumping and swinging away.
It's no use. Whatever Murdock put him through. Whatever he's done to himself. That's not Harry Osborn behind that mask...That's the Green Goblin.
Ghost wasn't able to go far as Green Goblin swooped in and grabbed her by the neck. "Die! Ghost-Spider! Die!" Gripping her neck he flew them towards the street.
He's toying with her. Taking his sweet time. Drawing this out just like she did with the lizard.
Ghost grunts, kicking his chest back just as he crash-landed on a car's windshield. She grunts as she falls to the concrete, rolling on the ground.
She can't fight like this. She shouldn't be fighting him at all. He has all the incentive.
Ghost stood up, as Green Goblin got off of the car and faced her. She webbed a trash bin behind him and pulled it back as it crashed against his back.
"Augh. You monster. You're making me do this. I can't resist. I can't just..." Ghost gritted her teeth.
Every advantage.
Spotting a hammer not far from her, she webbed it to her hand and raised it over her head. "Stop. Hammer time!" she grunts as she knocks it against his head, her eyes widening as the mask falls off to reveal a robot head. Where is he?
How do you beat the kid who has everything?
"You know," she calls out. "I hate to go all red-carpet fashion blogger on you. But what's up with this hoverboarding middle earth ranger thing of yours, Osborn?" she looks up as Green Goblin revealed himself with another figure beside him, assuming it's a robot too.
"Is this all you do? Talk?" Green Goblin bitterly glared at her. "Do you really think talking is going to stop me?"
"Yeah, well, maybe it ain't ground-breaking, but the kids dig it," she shrugged. "Ghost-Spider is for children, yo." Her eyes narrowed. "But enough about me. Go on and send me your daddy's last robot down here. Let me check that shit kicking off my to do list. And then maybe we can get down to figuring out what is it you even do, Osborn. Besides stand on the sideline and act like you're in the game."
Harry's eyes narrowed at her words. "What can I say, Ghost-Spider? When you're right, you're right. Power down. This whole thing so far, it's not what I wanted. It's too cold. Too detached."
Just as he ordered, the robot beside him fell to the ground. With that, he materialized a blade in his hand and gripped it. "...Let's get more hands-on."
She's going about this all wrong and she knows it. This is exactly where it went wrong with Peter. She was angry then. Scared. Frustrated. Sure. The Lizard tried to hurt her friends. But that's not really why.
Ghost dodged the blade, swinging to the side before punching his side. Her strength to her punch was a fraction of her main strength but it was enough for her to flung him back and crash through the Notre Dame wall. Ghost narrowed her eyes as she climbed through the hole, seeing Harry on the ground.
All she wanted was to be happy. To have fun with her powers. And all she felt was crushed by what was expected of her. By responsibility. It's about how powerless she feels. How obsessed she is with what she couldn't do. With something no one could've done.
Ghost walked over to him, removing his mask from his head. "This isn't what Peter would have wanted, Osborn," she narrowed her eyes at him. You have to know that."
Yes. Peter was angry. Frustrated. Confused. People hurt him but he tried to hurt them back.
Harry reached a hand out and grasped his blade, unaffected by the hero taking his mask off. In fact, he hoped for his face to be the last thing she saw before killing her. "You keep talkingβtalking like you knew him. Like you know me. But you don't. You don't know the things I've done to get here. You don't know what I'm capable of."
She had to accept that Peter made his own choices. His own mistakes.
Ghost's senses flared, making her look down just as a pumpkin bomb set off between her feet. The explosion flung her back, dropping Green-Goblin's mask from her hands in the progress. Ringing filled her ears and her vision hazed. For an indestructible suit, she felt sore as she landed on broken debris.
Ugh. So is this what a breakthrough feels like? Great. Gold star sticker for her.
She groaned, coughing as she slowly sat up. Harry stood up and faced her. "You're right, Ghost-Spider. Peter wouldn't have wanted this...cause Peter, he idolized you. He wanted nothing more than to be just like you."
Now how the hell does she get through to Harry?
Harry casually went to his pocket and pulled out a vial with green liquid. It bubbled inside, making Ghost frown at the vial. What does he plan to do with that?
"The hope you gave him drove him to create this. The Lizard Mutagen," Harry stated, glaring down at her. Her eyes widened in horror. Her heart dropped to her stomach at the statement.
"Osborn," she panted, groaning as she tried to stand up. "Harry...wait...Harry! No!" she screamed, flinging her wrist towards him as he opened the vial and drank it. Not a moment later, he felt immediate results. His body churned and coiled as he felt his blood boiling like acid.
Ghost kneeled in front of him, checking over him. There has to be an antidote somewhere. Where is it?! "Harry, why?! What did you justβ"
Like a great power surged through his veins, he smacked her away. She grunts as she feels a strong punch strike her chest directly, causing her to stumble and fall on the benches. The crash was overheard by the large building, echoing loudly from the commotion.
Harry panted, feeling his body's temperature slowly receding but it still felt warm. He couldn't help but look at his hands. He wasn't sure how long it would take for his usual dark skin to a scaly green. But he will make sure Ghost will see everything. Standing up, he slowly walked towards her form.
"I was never going to beat you with tricksβwith my father's money," he started. "But with Peter's help, I will. He did all of this on his own. He became special. And now so am I."
Ghost groaned, feeling her eyes drooping. Is it going to end like this? She doesn't have the will and strength to fight her best friend. The same boy who was by her side through everything. She couldn't do it. She can't bring herself to fight back, not like this. It started all over again.
She blinked slowly, opening her eyes once more to see Harry already close to her and reaching for her mask. She noticed how he brought his blade, reaching it high in the air to strike her.
Harry reached to her nape, noticing the improvement in her suit. "I am his greatest idea to come to life. His justice. His hand striking out from beyond the grave." He felt a bump in her nape and clicked the button to reveal her face.
Ghost sighed, "Harry...wait...stop..it'sβ"
"Get away from her!"
Gwen's and Harry's eyes widened in shock as a blonde boy tackled Harry to the side. Gwen immediately reached to her nape and closed her mask as she struggled to her feet and went after them.
Harry grunts, grabbing onto Adrien's sweater but the boy sweeps his foot under his, causing them both to fall. Adrien felt a sharp pull, making him yelp and be thrown back into Ghost's arms. "Gweβ!"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" Ghost gritted her teeth as she webbed them both further to the ceiling, hoping to find another exit. She could hear the growing growls below but Ghost pushed on ahead. She got herself into this mess. She can't bring Adrien of all people to be here.
"Helping you!" Adrien snapped, "What were you thinking of fighting this guy on?!"
"You don't get to say anything!"
Adrien's eye twitched, looking down, furrowing his brows in shock and concern as she saw the dark-skinned boy slowly growing green scales. His eyes widened in horror from the recognition. He recalled those scales when they fought Sandboy. The same nightmare Gwen had about her best friend turning into the green beast.

Ladybug frowned, realizing that after jumping and following Ghost for a few minutes, she finally spotted her standing still on top of a roof. She followed along, now standing beside her. She looked around but couldn't find any villains anywhere. The people continued to converse and laugh while having a good time. The sun high in the sky now slowly was setting. It is taking too long.
Where's the akuma?
"Ghost? Where is it?" Ladybug turned to her, blinking as Ghost silently pointed to the concrete ground. Looking back on the street, she realized that they were at the center of Paris. Right beside the Notre Dame Cathedral. "Is it inside the building?" She looked back at Ghost but blinked to see her gone. "Ghost?" she looked around, not finding her anywhere.
"This already feels off," she muttered. Without thinking, she dropped down from the building and landed on the ground. However, the moment she stepped foot on the concrete, it slowly sank like water. Ladybug yelped, not expecting her to suddenly start sinking. "What is this?!" she exclaimed, looking to the side, she threw her yo-yo at a light post and attempted to pull herself out but to no avail.
In fact, it only started to sink her faster and deeper to the ground. Ladybug gritted her teeth, trying to use most of her superpowered strength to pull but still felt useless. "Chatnoir! Ghost!" she called out but the ground rapidly sank her, now reaching to her neck.
Her breathing picked up as she gripped tightly to her yo-yo but her head sank along with her hand. Leaving nothing behind.
Ladybug closed her eyes and held her breath, expecting the worst. But stopped as she suddenly landed on her knees to the hard ground. Her eyes snapped open, widening at the sight in front of her. The city of Paris was turned to stone underwater. Ladybug instinctively gasped at the sight but stopped to realize that she was now breathing underwater.
"What happened here?" Ladybug murmured, standing up and looking around. The city was somehow intact, being turned into stone. The people in the streets also were into stones. Walking up to a child, she kneeled in front of her. She looked about seven years old but her hair was beautifully long and her smile was beaming as she seemed to be laughing at what her mother was telling her. Reaching up to cup her cheek, she shivered as she felt the stone being cold as ice.
A loud splash with a gasp appeared behind her, causing her to stand up and take a stance. But stopped as she saw Chatnoir falling from the sky and towards her. They both screamed as the poor boy landed on her. They groaned as they felt their entire strength leaving them, causing them to lie on the ground.
"What was that?" Chat groaned, sitting up and rubbing his head as he looked up. How did he fall downβhe stopped, taking in the place and frowning. "...What?"
"Chat!" Ladybug sat up. "What happened to you?"
Chat shook his head, "One thing I was at an apartment, then to the forest and sinking. I need a nap."
Ladybug frowned, looking around. Chat took notice and saw as she stood up, cupping her lips. "Ghost-Spider! Where are you?!"
Chat's eyes widened, "You saw Ghost?"
Ladybug nodded, turning to him. "She guided me here."
Chat frowned. If Ghost guided Ladybug here, did Gwen guide him here? But why? Glancing back at the statues, he frowned. What does Gwen have to do with this? He turned to Ladybug to ask her more when he saw how pale she was. "Um...Ladybug?" he called, taking a step toward her.
He noticed she was looking back up at the sky. But looking at it closer, he noticed how it wasn't really a sky. It was a ceiling, painted in blue and white. But that's not what made them both pale. It was the amount of web cocoons hanging from the ceiling. The many cocoons taking up the ceiling were unnerving.
"What is that?" Ladybug and Chat both asked.
"You don't want to know."
They stiffened at the voice. It sounded familiar yet older. They were being watched. They don't know how they know. But the slow voice seemed to give them a chance to make a choice for themselves. Run and hide...or turn around and see the worst.
Chat had to know so he was the first to turn around. The view in front of him was turned him cold. The stones around somehow turned to a holographic red as they surrounded the city like a flood, leaving nothing in their place.
"Reality."
Chat looked up, his eyes widening as he saw a figure sitting on top of the Notre Dame building. Even so far away, he could almost hear her warm breath hitting his ear. "Ghost?" he calls, getting Ladybug's cooperation to turn around too to see her. Her eyes widened as the statues slowly disappeared with a red glow, leaving the city on fire and ashes spreading on the ground.
"Reality is often disappointing," Ghost stoically looked down at the heroes. "That is...it was. Now..." she raised her pink gloved hand, as red light shined through her veins. Raising her hand to show, a shiny red globe appeared in her palm as red veins shined her body to her chest. "Reality can be whatever I want."
The heroes became intimidated by their partner. No. That wasn't her partner. Not anymore.
"What happened to you?" Ladybug's eyes watered in horror.
Ghost's body glowed blue as she disappeared from their view now standing in front of them. They took a step back and took in their partner. Ghost was taller, almost like a full adult. Her body was filled with muscle and blood spots all over her. Her old suit seemed to remain the same. The same white bodysuit, with blue and black stripes with a hint of pink.
Chat's eyes widened as he heard a flutter at the side, spotting the dove flying towards Ghost, landing on her shoulder before it glitched to disappearances.
"You've been luring us here," Chat frowned at her.
Ghost waved a hand, glowing red as the ground formed a chair for her to sit. "I have been in the same situation many times. I'd see this play out, you get angry, you fight, you lose, you beg, and another of you come back to repeat the same."
"What do you mean?" Chat frowns, seeing how she can easily use the stones in her body.
Ghost didn't say a word. She only pointed up to the ceiling where the cocoons were. Ladybug took the initiative, turning to Chat. "Something doesn't feel right," she murmured. "And something tells me that she won't let us leave."
"Distraction?" Chat suggested to himself, keeping his eyes on the girlβthe woman in front of him.
"Yes," Ladybug nodded.
With that, they both bolted in different directions. Ladybug swung herself towards the cocoons while Chat sped towards Ghost head-on. They somehow felt like they were at a time limit and they were already wasting it. He screamed as he pulled out his staff and struck it down but felt all air leaving him when her fist glowed purple and punched his chest.
All air suddenly left his lungs in his chest, he felt his body numb at the impact constricting his nerves. All he could see was purple. He could have sworn he saw multiple buildings glitching in his mind. He doesn't know where he landed or when he landed. He couldn't feel anything other than a burning sensation in his chest.
Ghost sighed, standing up, and started walking towards the boy. "I told you to destroy me the moment I wrong this world. But you guys are still too weak," she started, seeing Chat struggle to breathe as he sat up from the cracked ground. "Bunnyx keeps sending you from 6 years ago. But at this point, nothing can end me. You lost that opportunity the moment you stepped foot on the burrow."
Chat coughed, grunting as Ghost lifted him in the air to face her with the soul stone. "What...happened to you? How did...this happen?" he choked, peeking an eye. He was immediately met with her usual mask. But something kept gnawing at him about her features.
"...Hawkmoth happened," she whispered.
