Replaced (pt. 1)
3rd Person POV
Your average teenage boy with spider powers was making his way to his mentor's building, Stark Tower. It was an average day with average activities, for an average person. That is, if you were the friendly neighborhood Spiderman. His average day includes the following:
- Swinging through the neighborhood
- Stopping a mugger/robbery
- Helping an old lady cross the road
- Giving directions
- Etc.
But what your average boy wasnt expecting was to be replaced...
He had just gotten into his shared lab with Tony when said guy spoke up.
"Hey, Peter. What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Mr. Stark! I came for our usual evening! You know, fixing mechanics, upgrading suits and going on patrol later! Wait, is now not a good time, I can come again later if you want?" The boy said with a hint of sadness which Tony totally did not see.
"Yeah, Peter. It would be wise if you came back a different time." Then he added in a whisper "or never" but with Super Spider hearing, Peter caught it anyway.
"Well, uhm...I guess I'll get going then...Bye Mr. Stark..." Peter walked away, tears brimming in, but before he even got to the exit, Tony broke his heart even more.
"Hey, Ben. Come on out. Parker's gone. Although I'm still wondering why you have the same surname..."
Peter's POV
Ben?
Ben?!
Like Uncle Ben?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I feel nausea. My life sucks.
Uncle Ben's death still haunts me till now. The fact that I couldn't save him in time, even though I have the power to, that sucks and that left a huge scar.
But now, that I know a different Ben, who took my place with my Father Figure, that sucks even more.
Just, why?! I was a good intern! I was cheerful and Mr. Stark doesn't seem too disturbed by it.
I decided that the best way to get rid of stress is the Spider way.
I donned my red and blue spandex and swung around New York.
What I didn't except was to find Iron Man flying with a new guy, the Scarlet Spider, Ben Reilly. The dude from the lab. My friend...who I supposed turned his back against me.
"What are you doing here, Peter?" Mr. Stark, still in the suit, asked. We were standing in a very crowded area, and my identity could get exposed, but it seems like he doesn't even care.
"Mr. Stark! My identity! Couldn't you have said that a little quieter?" I hissed but not really. What I meant was I hissed but respectfully. Now I'm just confused. That didn't make sense, right?
"Well I don't care anymore. You're giving the suit back or else I'll make sure you never get in a good college and never get a good job. Not even as the trash collector." Mr. Stark spat and his face plate came off revealing that he was totally serious.
I didn't move. T-this wasn't him. This wasn't Mr. Stark-
"Now, Parker! I don't have all day!" He sneered in my face and pushed the spider emblem on my chest.
The suit came crumbling down, revealing me in my boxers.
Everybody turned to look and whipped their phones out.
Mr. Stark and Ben were just smiling and snickering, both with their phone out.
I felt my face go so red, I could beat a tomato in the redness contest so I ran head first into the first alley I saw and hid in a department store.
I grabbed a few pieces of clothing and tore the price tag and barcode off and ejected myself out the window.
I literally had no home, no suit and no job. Mr. Stark took all that away from me. Just because Ben came instead?
I walked over to the dumpster, I didn't want to bother Ned or MJ, they have their family time and I didn't want to intrude.
"Hey Peter."
I turned towards the voice, only to find Ben staring at me lazily. But there was something different about him...?
"What are you doing here?! Didn't you take away enough of my life?!!" I shouted as I jump at him.
"Chill man. I'm Kaine. Well, I don't really have a name. I'm your clone, just like your Ben, I suppose. He replaced you, didn't he?" Kaine said and took off his bandana.
I guess now I know why he has the same surname, cause he's my clone.
I don't know if I should be excited, grossed out or just out right have a heart attack on the cold alley floor...
"Well, if you call stealing your home, job and mentor/father figure, then yes!" I could tell I was being rude but there was like, no way I could chill after losing everything.
"Woah. Dude, you have to chill. Getting all riled up like that is not going to help anyone. But I have a plan. The dude who cloned us, Doc Oc, he gave us matching spider suit that he is using in the field with Stark. I could go out there and wreck his reputation. It would be suuuuper effective since nobody knows how we look like under the mask and we are basically one identity. It's a fool proof plan, man!" Kaine said and started to rummage his little sack.
I think it's a great idea, but that's really not what being a super hero is about. That is like, the last thing a hero would do, damage someone else's reputation.
"No, no. As good as your plan sounds, it's just not for me! I'm a hero and I don't hurt others. So, thanks for the offer, Kaine. But I'll have to decline. It was nice talking to you!" I said and started to use my organic webs and swung away with a paper bag around my head.
One little part of me knew that Kaine would go and do it anyway, even after that super inspiring speech I gave. But of course, being the stupid person I am, decided to ignore that little spider warning.
Turns out, that was a bad idea...
Because the next thing I knew, I was fighting in a blue fantastic four suit my friend lent me and a paper bag around my head, right beside our friend, Kaine. And the villain?
It was none other than, the alien symbiote, Venom.
And of course, an alien attack meant that the Avengers were coming.
My family was coming with that Ben guy.
Surprise, surprise. He got to join the Avengers.
And surprise, surprise, he had no hero-ing experience like me.
And again, surprise, surprise, he did not survive that stupid fight.
Maybe now Mr. Stark will consider having me back?
Yeah...no.
He still hated my gut.
He even blamed ME for letting Ben die when I was at the fight.
I mean, it's not my fault I was busy getting the people out of that building before Venom turned it into a pile of rubble.
And it's not my fault I had to constantly get Kaine out of the way.
And it most certainly isn't my fault that he let an unexperienced baby go out like this.
But on the plus side, my life is Ben-free!
And...I just realized how bad that sounded out loud.
Hehe...
But Mr. Stark? Just saying but, he'll never find, another Spider like mine. Someone who risks their life for you, like I do...
I have decided to go off the radar. Really lay low and take out all the cloning labs Oc has for me.
It's going to be a hard task, but with Kaine by my side, I will make everything right. The Peter Parker DNA shall endure no more cloning!
I mean, if they clone too much of me, it might turn on their creators, and maybe, possibly, take over the world?
(A/N: Go check it out. This channel is so dope.)
But yeah, I'll lay reeaaaaal low.
2 and a half years later
After successfully destroying all of Oc's cloning labs, it's finally time to resurface.
I mean I only have my onsie...
But it's time.
Today's the day.
The day the people of New York will witness my return!
I swung around town and all I heard were cheering people and applause.
It certainly felt good to be back.
Then I saw a woman with a ski mask, holding a teenage boy at gunpoint, while telling him to put his stuff in her bag.
I quietly dropped behind the woman and motioned for the boy to be quiet when a stealthily knock the woman out and web her to the wall before calling the police.
The moment I was sure the boy was safe; I took off and swung around the city again. I tried not to swing near Avengers Tower in case they see me. I mean, it's inevitable not to know that I'm back since I will definitely me on the TV after my return, but I just want to delay it as much as possible.
But then Parker Luck™ strikes again.
"What do you want, Stark?"
The armor flew after me, and sped up so that it came face to face with me.
"It's good to see you, Peter."
"You have no right to call me by my name." I sneered and the armor sighed in frustration. "Are you even there?"
"Yes! I'm here!" And the armor opened up to show me.
I scoffed.
"Look Kid, I'm sorry. Please come back. We really miss you."
"Well you can shove your apology up you ass. You weren't being controlled when you shove me away. And now I don't even need you. I took out dozens of Oc's goons without your help. I. Don't. Need. You. Cause now I'm shining solo." I flipped him off and swung away.
The sound of the thrusters didn't stop though, as it grew louder, indicating that the armor was following me.
"Seriously, Tiny Stank. Know your place. No matter how much money you throw at me. I will NEVER go back with you. I might have considered you as my father figure before, but now? You're nothing to me. So, get the fuck out of my sight and leave me alone!"
"You only have a fucking onsie! At least take the Iron Spider suit I made for you!"
"No." I said in an extremely cold voice even Nicholas Joseph Fury will get scared. "I'm not that stupid. I can make my own suit. Now go before I seriously injure you."
"No, Peter! Please! Please comeback to us."
"Well, you leave me no choice." My emotionless voice.
I stuck myself to the side of the building, making Tony look at me confusing.
I launched myself full force onto the armor and ripped off the arms, leaving his arms in the open with no protection.
"If you won't leave me alone, then I'll make you." I spat.
"Boss, your suit is repairing itself. Should I destroy the cause of destruction?" FRIDAY's voice rang in the armor and only because of my super hearing, did I hear that.
I chuckled evilly and snatched the helmet off from the body, throwing it towards the Avengers Tower, cracking the glass from the impact since this time, I'm not holding back.
"Look at that, Stark. Almost half of your armor is gone already." I laughed in his face.
I noticed from the corner of my eyes that he was going to blast me with the arc reactor so I jabbed it, breaking it as well.
But I'm not as cruel as Rogers when he left Stark to die in that frozen cave in Civil War.
No, I'm not that cruel.
I webbed him a cocoon and swung him to the Avengers Towers, breaking the glass in the med bay and through him in, startling Doctor Cho and Bruce Banner.
"And remember, Stark. If you don't want to die for real, leave me alone. And if you send the Avengers to get me, they will be seriously maimed, or worse, they'd be six feet under." I smiled sickeningly sweet and swung off.
He lost me the moment he disregarded me as a piece of shit when that stupid clone came along.
Do I regret cutting him out of my life?
Maybe. We could've made the world a better place.
But this is for the best.
If he nor the Avengers can't show me any love, then I know I don't belong there.
It's for the best if I leave and go solo.
I mean, I still have Kaine, and I'm sure Deadpool wouldn't mind keeping me company...
Yeah, sounds like a plan.
