It was morning and we three woke up early as Zinnia had to be at college for her project.
I was drinking my coffee and nibbling cookies while Zinnia was on a call with her groupmate, giving her ideas on the project. And Lily, of course, was busy preparing breakfast.
I was waiting for Zinnia to cut the call so I could talk to her about Amy. She completely ignored Amy yesterday, maybe because she was busy or she was acting busy. Well, I wanted closure about Zinnia and Amy so I was not going to procrastinate anything when it came to these two.
"Yeah, I will see you at college. Bye," Zinnia said, hanging up the call.
Finally!
"Hey, I wanna talk to you." I turned towards Zinnia.
"Owwwkay," she said, dragging the 'okay' as she was a bit puzzled seeing my straight face.
"It's about Amy."
Zinnia rolled her eyes before saying, "Elka, I already told you. I-"
"Just zip your mouth and listen to me, will ya?" I cut her off.
Lily's focus averted from the bacon and eggs to us.
She better not burn our breakfast!
"K," Zinnia said as she gestured, zipping her lips.
"I asked her about that Friday. About the talk between her and Ash."
"Wait, you just asked her about their conversation just like that? It's something between them. It's private," said Zinnia.
"Zip!" I yelled.
She sighed and leaned back on the chair.
"Yeah, I did. And screw the privacy. All that matters to me is-"
"Zinnia." This time Lily interrupted me and stood there, smiling. "We know, Elka. We know you love us."
I turned my head towards Lily before saying,
"Curiosity. All that matters to me is curiosity."
Lily's smile faded.
"Now stop interrupting me you nitwits," I screamed.
Lily didn't say anything and went back to cooking.
I turned towards Zinnia and said, "I asked her casually and she didn't hesitate to tell me about it."
Zinnia nodded her head.
"So Ash called her to talk about their relationship, obviously. She said that he asked her why she was ignoring him for the last few days. At first she tried to hide the truth about her thought of rebound and all but Ash was compelling her as he knew that something was off. So she didn't have any other choice but to tell him what was going on in her mind all along. She blurted out everything that kept bugging her mind from the day they began to date."
"What did he say?" asked Zinnia, poking her chin out.
"He didn't deny it."
"That schmuck! So Amy's suspicion was right?"
"Yeah, it was. After hearing nothing from him when she asked whether she was just a rebound to get over his ex, Amy was about to leave him at that spot. But Ash stopped her from leaving and asked for a second chance. He said he missed her and he knew her worth only when she was slipping out of his hands. Just like you said, Zin."
Zinnia smiled faintly and shrugged her shoulders.
"He was constantly apologizing and asking her to give him one more chance and that he will be as good as before. He promised to be with Amy everytime, even after college," I said.
"So Amy gave him another chance, right? I know she will," Zinnia said.
"No," I said.
Zinnia snapped her head towards me.
"What?" asked Lily, keeping two plates of Spanish omelet and fried bacon in front of us.
I looked at Lily and nodded my head.
"She said she needs some time. She said to Ash that right now she's happy because she's got someone who knows how to make her smile and laugh and feel special. And she wants to stay like this, so she needs time and space to think about her and Ash," I said, grinning.
Zinnia was gaping at me whilst Lily was also grinning like me.
"And when she said she was happy because of someone, she meant you, Zinnia," I said looking at her, my black soulful eyes giving her hopes.
Zinnia was gaping at me for a few more seconds until she started to laugh joyfully.
"Really? Oh my fucking God, really?" she asked through her laughs.
"Yes!" I said joining her laughter.
Lily squealed as Zinnia hugged me like there was no tomorrow.
"Oh my God, Elka! Thank you for asking her," she said as she retreated.
I nodded and smiled. "Sometimes curiosity can do good shits."
"But what if she decides to give him a second chance? What if she goes back to him?" Lily asked, making me and Zinnia turn our heads towards her.
"Yeah, she may or may not. But we are no one to predict. So before she makes a decision or even tries to think about her and Ash, Zin, you have to make a way into her heart," I said, turning towards Zinnia.
"B-but how?" she stuttered.
"Seriously, Zinnia? You are asking that to us when you're a hotshot when it comes sweeping one's feet off the floor?" Lily asked back.
"Yeah. Zin, as I said that day, you don't have to be someone else to steal her heart. You just have to be yourself," I said. "If you want her to be yours forever, then you better start working on that," I added, pushing her.
She looked back and forth between me and Lily before nodding her head and saying, "I will. I will make her mine, no matter what."
"Yes," me and Lily said in unison with fist pumps.
"So girls, place your hand on Zinmy," I said, placing my palm in the middle of us.
"Zinmy?" Zinnia asked as Lily also looked at me, baffled.
"Yeah, I kinda collabed Zinnia and Amy and so Zinmy, you know...." I trailed off, smiling sheepishly.
They chuckled at my cuteness and placed their palms on mine and we yelled together, "Mission Zinmy!"

The day at college was usual. Zinnia didn't appear at our table for lunch due to her project and I could see that Amy was kind of expecting her. Danish and Andrew now joined us for lunch. Me and Danish still annoyed each other and bickered even though we were friends now. It was fun to joke around with him. I noticed Clay stealing glances at me when I was with Danish and not going to lie, it was somewhat irritating. It felt as if he became a borderline stalker with the arrival of Danish. But I just brushed it off and put him at the back of my mind and enjoyed the day with my friends.
After college, we all met again at the car lot. Amy came with me to the lot as she wanted to see Zinnia. Nervousness and excitement were running through my body as Zinnia and Amy will be facing each other after a few days. And I wasn't being overwrought for nothing as I saw Zinnia's and Amy's faces lit up as they saw each other.
"Hey," Zinnia said, looking at Amy as soon as we approached them.
"Hi, you have been busy these days, right?" Amy asked her.
"Yeah, kinda. I have this project coming up. So yeah, I'm busy."
"Ok. What happened to your phone?" Amy asked Zinnia, which took her as well as me off guard.
Shit! I didn't tell Zinnia that I lied about her phone. And Amy still remembers it? Why?!
"My phone? Zinnia asked, wholly perplexed.
"Yeah, Elka sai-"
"Hey, Danish!" I said boomingly and ran towards Danish as soon as I saw him walking towards us.
I did so as I wanted to divert them from the conversation about the phone. And I knew that when it came to me and Danish, all eyes and ears would be on us.
On the other side, Danish was taken aback seeing me running towards him. Well, who wouldn't?
"Hey." He looked at me cynically.
"What is it about my phone, Amy?" Zinnia asked, gaining her attention from me and Danish.
What the fuck is wrong with you, Zin?
"I missed you!" I said as I hugged Danish.
I was damn sure that there was no way Zinnia could take her eyes off us. Both Zinnia and Amy were goggling at me hugging Danish.
"Woah, it has been only two hours. You miss me already?" he said as I pulled back from the hug.
His face was plastered with a smirk to which I was internally pitying him.
Poor boy thinks I miss him. My ass. Oh wait, my peachy ass!
I smiled and nodded to which he booped my nose.
Oh boy! I wasn't expecting that!
I dragged Danish by his arm towards them and they started to talk about something, leaving behind Zinnia's phone. My plan worked!
Lily and Andrew joined us not long after.
"Hey, I want you all to come to my apartment tonight. I'm having a small party," Danish said.
"Yeah, Danish has been talking about hosting a party for some days at his apartment. But I didn't know that it would be today," Andrew said, looking at Danish and raising a brow.
"Yeah, I know. But it's fine, I just have to buy some things."
"Wait, aren't you guys living together?" I asked, hearing Andrew.
"No, not anymore. I moved out and found a new place. Didn't Lily tell you?" Andrew asked, looking back and forth between me and Lily.
I looked at Lily with a baffled face.
"It was when Danish came. You didn't like Andrew back then so even if I told you, you wouldn't even care," Lily said.
She was absolutely one hundred percent right.
I nodded my head once before asking Andrew, "Why did you move out?"
Andrew exchanged glances with Danish before answering, "It's becau-"
"Privacy, Elka, privacy," Danish cuts him off.
"Andrew has a girlfriend so he needs some privacy, right? With me and my brother living with him, he can't have that privacy. And above all, me and my brother can't stand hearing any moans and groans."
"Danish!" Lily cried out and smacked his arm lightly while Andrew laughed.
"Ok, ok. So be at 8 tonight," Danish said.
"It will be fun," Lily said, clasping her hands.
My eyes went to Zinnia who was looking at Amy through the corner of her eyes. Instantly, an idea popped inside my head.
I moved closer to Danish and tugged at his shirt, making him look at me. I motioned him to bend down to my level and when he did, I whispered to him, "Call Amy too."
Of course I had to take a step for Mission Zinmy.
"What?" he whispered back.
"Call Amy for your party."
"Why?"
"Just listen to me. Call her."
He stood straight and cleared his throat before calling her, "Hey Amy, you're also welcome."
Amy looked at Danish before saying, "No, it's fine. I'm not at all a party person."
"No no, you have to come. You're also my friend," Danish said.
"Thanks," Amy said shyly.
Something's gonna happen tonight. Buckle yourself up, Elka.
And I found love where it wasn't supposed to be
Right in front of me
Tlk some sense to me
