Aurelia's house buzzed with the excited chatter of her friends. Anastasia, Lilly, and Blake had come over for a day of swimming and fun, and they were currently lounging in her room, sprawled across her bed and floor.

"Did you see Walker's comment on your TikTok?" Lilly asked, looking up from her phone with a knowing smirk. "He's such a simp!"

Aurelia rolled her eyes, though a smile tugged at her lips. "Come on, Lilly. We're just friends. He was just being nice."

Anastasia snorted. "Nice? He practically wrote you a love letter in the comments. 'OKAY WOAH ' That's not just nice, Aurelia."

Blake chuckled, shaking his head. "Gotta say, it did seem a bit over the top for 'just friends.'"

Aurelia's cheeks flushed slightly. "Okay, fine, maybe it was a bit much. But really, Walker's just a sweet guy. He probably comments like that on all his friends' posts."

"Uh-huh, sure he does," Lilly teased. "Just admit it, he's got a thing for you."

Before Aurelia could respond, Anastasia jumped up. "Enough about Walker! Let's hit the pool!"

With a chorus of agreement, they all changed into their swimsuits and headed outside. The sun was shining brightly, casting a golden glow over the sparkling water. They splashed and played in the pool, laughing and enjoying the cool relief from the summer heat.

Blake challenged Lilly to a race, and they took off across the pool, their competitive spirits in full swing. Meanwhile, Anastasia and Aurelia floated lazily on pool floats, soaking up the sun.

"Hey, Aurelia," Anastasia said, glancing over at her friend. "Do you ever think about what it would be like if you and Walker were more than friends?"

Aurelia sighed, her gaze fixed on the clear blue sky. "Sometimes, I guess. But I don't want to ruin what we have. Our friendship means a lot to me."

Anastasia nodded thoughtfully. "Just something to think about. You never know what could happen. I mean look at me and Noah "

After a few hours of swimming and splashing around, they finally climbed out of the pool, their skin pruned from the water and their laughter echoing in the warm afternoon air. They wrapped themselves in towels and headed back inside, their stomachs rumbling with hunger.

In the kitchen, they ordered a couple of pizzas and settled into the living room, still wrapped in their towels. Aurelia set up her laptop and queued up the latest episode of "The Summer I Turned Pretty," while Blake retrieved the drinks from the fridge.

"Hey, Aurelia, do you think Walker would like this show? Maybe you should invite him over next time," Lilly said with a teasing grin.

Aurelia laughed, shaking her head. "You guys are gotta stop anti this . But sure, maybe I will. Just to prove that we're really just friends."

"Good idea," Blake added with a chuckle. "That way we can see him squirm in all the mushy parts."

Anastasia giggled, "Oh, I'd pay to see that. Walker trying to act cool during a love triangle scene? Classic."

They all laughed and settled in with their slices of pizza, the room filled with the cozy camaraderie of close friends. As the first episode started, Lilly couldn't help but keep up the teasing.

"So, Aurelia," she said, leaning in conspiratorially, "what's the real reason you're so defensive about Walker?"

Aurelia groaned, covering her face with a pillow. "Lilly, I swear, there's nothing to tell! He's just a good friend. We have fun together, that's all."

Anastasia smirked. "Fun together, huh? Like those late-night text conversations?"

Aurelia peeked out from behind the pillow, her eyes wide. "How do you know about those?"

Lilly grinned. "You left your phone unlocked, sweetie. We may or may not have taken a peek."

"You did what?" Aurelia exclaimed, her face turning bright red. "You guys are terrible!"

Blake raised his hands in defense. "Hey, I had nothing to do with it. But I gotta admit, it does sound like there's more to the story."

Aurelia sighed dramatically, throwing her hands up in the air. "Fine! Maybe there's a little something there. But it's complicated, okay?"

"Complicated how?" Anastasia pressed, her curiosity piqued.

"We're both busy with our careers," Aurelia explained. "And I'm not sure if he feels the same way. Plus, I don't want to ruin our friendship."

Lilly reached over and squeezed Aurelia's hand. "We get it, Aurelia. Just know we're here for you, no matter what."

Aurelia smiled, feeling a wave of gratitude for her friends. "Thanks, guys. Now can we please just watch the show?"

They all laughed and settled in to watch, the room filled with the cozy camaraderie of close friends. As the sun set outside, casting a warm glow through the windows, Aurelia couldn't help but feel grateful for these moments of simple joy and the bonds that held them all together.
