I get claimed...finally!

Ah yes, capture the flag. The one time you can give somebody a cut and get points for it. The game wasn't until this afternoon but everyone was chatting with excitement over it, and so was I. Logan and I have gotten better at it over the last few months, even so that we were able to be allowed to fight alongside our team, which was awesome to say the least.

Unfortunately, our good friend Percy didn't have that kind of luck yet. Or no kind of luck as far as I'm aware of. He was bad at almost everything in camp. From archery, sword fighting, sword making, or even running. The nymphs outran him in a second and after that second it took him three minutes to get to the finish.

The only thing he was good at was kayaking. He's good at one thing and it involves water. It doesn't take a genius to see who his father was but I guess nobody in this stinking camp wants to believe it.

After all that was camp sword training. It was the Hermes cabin's turn today and I did not want to do this. Why? I'm more of an archery girl than anything. But despite that Luke still forced us to participate.

I was training with Travis and I could see that I was getting good with sword fighting as I was able to take him down quite easily. Or he was getting bad at sword fighting and was also getting lazy. But either way I kept winning.

"That's cheating!" he said as I beat him for the fifth time today.

"Cut it out, Travis," Connor said, walking by us. "You're getting lazy."

"I am not!" Travis snapped back.

"All those chocolate bars getting to your head?" I asked him. Travis pushed me as Connor and I started laughing at him.

Travis groaned. "You two are terrible!" he groaned before getting into a starting position. "Now come on, Heaths, let's go again. I'm ready."

I sighed before getting into one as well. "You're going down, Travis," I said. "Again."

Travis grinned like he was really going to beat me, but before we even started, Luke blew a whistle, signaling our attention. Travis groaned while I laughed.

"Everyone, gather 'round," he told us. "Today's gonna be a demonstration, and since he's new, I want to make Percy here our test puppy for this lesson."

I heard a few snickers coming from the campers, as well as a few 'he's getting his ass kicked' I just sighed while watching the scene unfold.

Luke and Percy got into a starting position. Percy's was a bit wobbly but it was something to take care of later. Someone blew a whistle and the fighting commenced. Luke gained to upper hand on Percy pretty quickly, with the younger boy only throwing a few synchronized hits but they were always blocked by Luke using a more aggressive yet rather more gentle technique.

I have to admit, Luke is excellent when it come to sword fighting. He says only the greatest become great with practice and he has definitely shown that repeatedly. I can't even catch up with him no matter how much I try to practice. That's how good he is.

Soon enough, the first round ended with Percy on the ground with a sword inches from his throat. Luke called a break and everyone went to get some water. Luke poured some water on himself and it looks like Percy did the same thing. I finally felt relieved once I finally got a cup and went to stand beside Connor and Travis, both of which were arguing with each other.

"Heather," Travis called to me. "Tell him that Kai is definitely an Ares kid?"

Ah yes, Kai. one of our undetermined. He's more of a Hypnos kid if I've ever seen one. Yeah he's violent but only when someone wakes him up, then he just goes back to sleep.

"I fully believe that dude's a Hypnos kid," I told Travis. Connor grinned widely at his brother.

"See? Even she thinks so!" Connor told him. He then earned a push by his brother.

Travis was about to say something else but Luke blew his whistle again and gathered us all together.

"Okay, guys," he called out. "We've all refreshed ourselves a bit, are we ready?"

A few of the campers cheered while about half of them groaned.

Luke then turned to Percy. "Wanna go again?"

Percy sighed. "Let's get this over with."

They both got into a starting position and soon enough a whistle blew again and the fighting commenced. Luke gained the upper hand once again but surprisingly Percy began to catch up with him, finding out where he's striking and targeting there. It took then about two minutes but for round three it was Percy who had the sword to Luke's throat while his was on the ground beside me, Connor, and Travis.

"Sorry," Percy muttered.

Once Luke got out of his stunned state, he laughed. "Sorry?" he repeated. "Percy, that was awesome! Come on, do it again."

Percy tried to do it again, but I could see him getting wobbly once again and Luke was quickly catching up to him. After two minutes, Luke won this final round with Percy panting on the floor.

Luke shrugged. "Beginner's luck," he said while helping Percy up. "You'll get better with practice, take it from Heather over here." Percy glanced at me before looking back at Luke. "Okay, guys, let's wrap this up. Ares's turn and we do not want scorpions in our bunks...again."

Percy and I made it over to the railing overlooking the water. Percy noticed a few naiads in the water. They waved to him and after a moment he waved back. I quickly put his hand down.

"Don't bother," I said. "Naiads are terrible flirts."

"Naiads," Percy muttered. "Okay, I wanna go home."

"You can't, Percy."

"And how do you know?"

"Do you have any family to go back home to?"

Percy shut up and I knew I said the wrong thing.

"Percy, I'm sorry," I told him. "But you can't go back home. For now, Camp is your home, though it is messed up and complicated, it's home."

"But I'm a loser."

"And? Half of these kids are losers. I'm a loser. We're all losers. That's what makes us special. That we can all be losers together."

Percy looked at me for a moment before looking down at my leg once again. "Who do you think your godly parent is?" he asked.

I shrugged. "Everyone had different guesses," I told him. "Some think it's Hades, some think Apollo, Aphrodite, or Hermes. I just wanna be claimed so they can stop guessing."

Percy sighed. "Well," he spoke. "I don't think it's fair for the gods to only claim some of their children while the others get abandoned."

I nodded. "Same, but they're busy ruling the world. They don't have time for all of their kids. Some of them don't even know they have kids."

"But it's still unfair nonetheless," Percy countered. "They should recognize all of their kids. Not just the ones who do incredible feats to get their attention."

I can't say I disagree. Because I don't. I've seen and heard the unclaimed and how they just wish to have their parents in their lives and not disregard them like trash. I can just imagine the insecurities they feel after staying unclaimed in the Hermes cabin for years. That would cause anyone to feel unworthy and angry for having their lives ruined by gods who would much rather fuck other women or men than take care of their kids who their lovers had to risk dying to take care of.

This is causing me to think about if we are here for care or for entertainment.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Percy speak again.

"What's that?" he asked.

"Hmm?"

"The thing in your hand," he motioned. "What is it?"

I looked down at my hand and what rested in it was a Hades figurine. It was more silver than the actual figurine which was a dark gray.

"Oh," I muttered. "It's just a Hades figurine."

"Figurine?"

"From Mythomagic, a kind of card game. My mom had it before she died."

"Your mom..." Percy paused for a moment before looking at me again. "What was she like?"

I sighed. "I never knew her personally, but from what other people told me about her, she was like a goddess that ascended from the Heavens. She was kind, smart, gorgeous, brave, and had a voice that could rival Apollo himself. I always wanted to meet her, but she died before I could even remember her face."

Percy didn't say anything. He just put a hand on my shoulder while I clutched the figurine tighter.

"This..." I choked. "This was one of the last things my brother and I have of her to remember her by." I shook my head. "I...should be talking about this."

"No, no," Percy reassured me. "I think it's good. To talk to someone about this. My mom always told me that talking about your losses makes the process better."

I sighed. "But this is something me and my brother went through, even if we don't remember it. I shouldn't talk without him."

As if right on cue, Logan ran towards us, panting heavily.

"Hey," he said as he got his breath together. "What are you two doing out here?"

I looked at Percy and he was looking back at me. "We were just...talking about mom."

Logan looked at me for a moment before sighing. "Luke wanted us to come to the Hermes cabin for a bit of a pep talk before capture the flag. I just know we're gonna rail on the Ares kids."

"I thought you liked the Ares kids," I told him.

He waved it off. "Connor and Travis are ten times more interesting than them," he said. "And they never forgave me for that 'helmet tree' incident."

"Helmet Tree incident?" Percy questioned.

"We'll tell you later," I said as the three of us walked to the Hermes cabin. "You have to get ready for your first game."

"Oh," Percy said flatly. "Woo-hoo!"

Logan laughed. "Don't worry, you'll be fine. The most you'll have is border patrol."

"And what's that?"

Logan and I looked at each other. "You'll see," we said in unison.

It was now the afternoon. Finally time for Capture the Flag. I put on my armor and made sure it was tightly secured. I helped Logan with his and we made it to the middle of the woods where Chiron and the others were waiting.

I heard everyone chattering with excitement, especially the Athena kids. The Hermes Cabin was in a temporary alliance with the Athena cabin as well as the Apollo Cabin since Hermes and Apollo had the most campers. Meanwhile, the Ares cabin had an alliance with the other cabins, Demeter, Hephaestus, Dionysus, and Aphrodite. We were the blue team while they were the red.

I saw Percy make his way next to me, Logan, and Luke while Annabeth was discussing the plan to everyone.

"You know how to play?" I whispered to him.

"Uh, yeah," Percy whispered back. "I think."

I sighed. "Grab the Ares flag and return it to our post before the other team gets our flag to theirs. Everything but killing and maiming is allowed."

"So stabbing is allowed?"

"Slicing is but not stabbing."

"Oh."

Annabeth's voice caught my attention. She already discussed the plan without Percy in our cabin earlier. He was going on border patrol to distract Clarisse from grabbing our flag. Meanwhile, Logan, Connor, Travis, and I were going to hide near the Ares flag post to distract the watchers so Luke and Annabeth can grab the flag and return it to our post. The others have to fight anyone who comes our way. Sounds easy enough.

A horn sounded as we made our way to the center of the woods where Chiron was waiting. As we came face to face with the Ares team. I noticed Chandler amongst them. Since he was a Demeter kid he wasn't on our team, but once he caught our eye, he sent us a salute, telling us good luck. We sent one back.

"Campers!" he announced. "You know the rules, the creek is boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed but may not be bound or gagged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I will serve as referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves."

He then spread his hands and a giant table full of armor and shields filled said table. Everyone grabbed a weapon of choice as well as a shield. I grabbed a bow and arrow while Logan held a sword.

"We're actually supposed to use these," Percy asked as he looked at the table.

Luke looked at him like he was crazy. "If you don't want to be turned into a human kebab by the Ares cabin, then yeah." Luke then tossed Percy a helmet. "Here, you'll need this. Annabeth put you on border patrol."

Luke looked at me. "Heather will show you what it is before going to her position. Right?"

I sighed. "Right," I repeated before straightening the buckles on my armor. "Just follow my lead, Perce."

Percy walked beside me as another horn blew, signaling the start of the game.

"Blue team, forward!" Annabeth yelled, causing our team to holler out in chants as we ran beside her. I caught Clarisse's eye as the daughter of Ares gave me a menacing grin. I just made an L on my forehead as we passed her. Safe to say that she was pissed.

Percy and I ran into the woods near the creek. We passed a large stone and that's where we stopped.

I pointed to the stone. "You'll stay here to watch out for any potential reds coming our way." I then pointed past the creek and into the woods where the Ares flag is. "Logan, Travis, Connor, and I will be right out there in front of the Ares flag. Signal the others so they'll know that the coast is clear. If I get distracted or you can't find me, Logan, Travis, and Connor will already be there so talk to them instead. Got it?"

Percy nodded. "Sounds easy," he said.

I nodded. "Trust me, it is." I said as I put on my helmet. "Remember, don't get killed."

"Got it."

I smirked as I ran off to where the Ares flag was.

I was sneaking through the woods, trying to get to the Ares flag so I could talk with Travis, Connor, and Logan. I've went through these woods more than once so I know my way around them.

I pulled out an arrow from my quiver and readied my bow. I was looking around until I heard footsteps coming my way. I turned around to see Chandler coming my way holding a sword.

He smirked. "Bringing a bow to a sword fight?" he questioned. "Bold choice."

I scoffed. "I don't need a sword to know I'm gonna beat your rich ass."

Chandler sighed. "Just because I'm British doesn't mean I'm rich."

"Coming from someone who spent the new years on a yacht."

Chandler paused before snapping back into reality. "Shut up!"

It was my turn to start smiling. "Make me," I said as I arched my bow back.

"On second thought you have an unfair advantage!" Chandler yelled at me.

"It's not my fault I prefer archery over sword fighting."

"Yes, it is."

"Shut up!"

Chandler looked down before taking a deep breath. "Fine. let's do this."

Without wasting any time, I released my arrow. He managed to dodge it as I released another one. He dodged another one and before I knew it a wall of vines flew towards me. I rolled away from them and released another arrow at Chandler making him lose concentration and control over the vines.

"Talk about an unfair advantage," I scoffed.

Chandler put his hands up. "Magic is allowed."

I sighed as I continued to shoot the arrows. Luckily, the ones that were lost always returned to my quiver, so I didn't run out.

Chandler gained the upper hand unfortunately and his vines wrapped themselves around my legs. I quickly tried to release myself, but they tightened around my legs and began to reach for my arms.

"Let me go!" I shouted.

Chandler smirked. "Make me."

He did release me seconds later but then we heard cheering and noticed the blue team running to their port with the Ares cabin flag. It was my turn once again to smirk at him.

"We won," I said.

"Don't get too attached to the win, darling," he said, though a smile formed on his face afterwards.

For some reason, my heart skipped a beat upon hearing him call me darling. He says that to everyone but it's the way he said it to me that made it different.

I caught myself looking at him longer than usual until I shook my head, snapping myself back into reality.

"You will pay for that," I told him.

"We'll see about that," he said before running ahead of me towards the creek. I ran after him to see Clarisse, Percy, and some of Clarisse's siblings near the creek with three of her siblings on the ground helping each other up while Percy was in front of Clarisse, her broken spear in between both of them.

"Woah," I muttered.

"What happened here?" Chandler asked. I was wondering the same thing.

We all got closer to the creek and noticed Annabeth standing a few feet near Percy and Clarisse. I then realized everyone was staring at something over the rocks. I followed their eyes and my blood ran cold.

It was a dog. But the dog was the size of a freaking rhino. She didn't know what it was and it was coming straight for Percy.

"Hellhound," Chandler muttered. I continued to stare at the thing.

I didn't know what happened next, but I felt someone push me in front of Percy and the Hellhound. The hellhound noticed me but it just swerved around me and straight towards Percy once again.

I looked at Clarisse, who pushed me. She wasn't looking at me though and kept her eyes on the hellhound.

I wasn't thinking, but before I knew it, I grabbed an arrow and one after another I shot it at the Hellhound's neck. Some more followed my lead until about forty arrows decorated the hellhound.

I watched as the Hellhound fell dead at Percy's feet. Logan ran to help me up while glaring at Clarisse.

"Are you okay?" he asked as Chiron made his way towards us.

I nodded. "I'm fine," I said but I wrapped my hand around his neck and used him to steady myself.

Chiron trotted towards us, a bow in hand.

"Di immortales," Annabeth muttered. "That's a hellhound from the Fields of Punishment. They don't...they're not supposed to..."

"Someone summoned them," Chiron told us. "Someone inside the camp."

"It's Percy's fault!" Clarisse cried out. "Percy summoned it!"

"Girl, how is he going to summon a hellhound with no powers?" I asked her.

"You think Percy would summon a hellhound that wanted to kill him?" Annbeth added.

"Sounds very suicidal," Logan said. He winced as I nudged him hard.

"Be quiet, children," Chiron scolded.

We all watched as the hellhound melted into shadow, soaking the ground until it disappeared. Chiron picked up one of my arrows and ran his hand over the carvings. I didn't know this at first, but there was a name on the arrows. All of them.

Απόλλων.

"Apollo," Chiron muttered before looking my way. Logan and I looked at each other before looking at Percy.

"You're wounded," Annabeth told Percy. "Quick, Percy, get in the water."

"I'm fine,"

"No, you're not," the daughter of Athena said before looking at Chiron. "Chiron, watch this."

Percy, deciding that there was no use in arguing with her, stepped into the creek, the wounds in his chest healing quickly. Annabeth then motioned to Logan.

"You," Logan pointed to himself and Annabeth nodded. "Yes you, come here."

"You know my name, but okay," Logan let go of me as he walked into the water as well. The water started to heal him as well. Even most of the scars on his face disappeared except the one on his eye. I walked next to Annabeth as she watched the boys attentively.

I knew Percy was obvious who his father was but I never even thought about Logan until it all became clear to me.

Suddenly, a bright green light appeared. I shielded my eyes as it appeared above both Percy and Logan. While there was a green glow coming from above Percy, there was a yellow glow coming from above Logan. Floating above their heads I can now see a three-tipped spear. A trident.

"What the hell?"

All the campers gasped once they saw it. Logan looked above his head, probably was trying to see if something was wrong with his hair before he saw the trident. Percy, though, started apologizing.

"Look, I-I don't know why....I'm sorry..."

Percy then looked at me and noticed my expression. I pointed above his head. He followed my hand and finally looked at the trident above his head, though it was already disappearing by the time he looked.

"Your father," I heard Annabeth mutter. "This is not good."

Logan looked at me and his eyes widened as he looked at me. I gave him a look and heard everyone gasp once again. I looked at Annabeth who was looking at me with a surprised expression as well.

She was looking above my head this time and I followed her to see a staff looking thing above my head, a two-tipped spear. A bident. Mine, like Logan's, also had a yellow glow around it.

"What the hell?" I muttered for the second time today.

Logan quickly got out of the water and ran towards me.

"Your dad..." he said.

"I know."

"My dad..."

"Uh-huh."

"How..."

"I don't know."

"It is determined," Chiron muttered.

Annabeth then kneeled, which caused everyone else to do the same. Even the Ares Cabin had to kneel, which they didn't look too happy about.

"My father?" Percy asked, still bewildered.

"Poseidon," Chiron told him. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, father of horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."

I chuckled a bit under my shock. "Travis owes me three drachmas."

Chiron then turned to us. I looked at Logan once again and he was looking at me. Chiron looked at us.

"This is a rare sight," he told us. "Both of you have different godly parents, but you are twins."

Logan looked my way again before looking at Chiron. "Is that a bad thing, or no?" he asked.

Chiron turned towards Logan. "Logan Agulera, Son of Poseidon, Stormbringer, Earthshaker, father or horses." he then turned towards me. "Heather Agulera, daughter of Hades, God of the Underworld, Ruler of the dead, King of riches. Hail, Logan and Heather, children of Poseidon and Hades, and Legacies of Apollo."

Legacies?

"What are legacies?" Logan asked me. I shrugged.

"It means you're the descendant of a god," Annabeth told us. "In this case, it's Apollo."

I tried to connect the dots but couldn't until I realized something. I pulled a folded up picture of my mother from my pocket and unfolded it. I was staring at it until I turned it around and in gold were the words 'Martha Agulera, daughter of the mortal Crystal and Sun God Apollo.'

Our mother was a demigod.

Logan and I gave each other a scared look.

"Our mom's a demigod," Logan muttered.

"Mh-hmm."

I heard Annabeth shudder. "This isn't good at all."

"Yeah, I think that was established already," I said as I put the picture back in my pocket.

I then looked at Travis and Connor, both of which were giving something to Chandler, who was smirking.

"Travis still owes me three drachmas."
