~Chapter 4~
It was currently mid of June, meaning Monsoon season had already started, flooding the forest and naturally discarding the rubbish in it by rainwater. During this time, a lot of things could go wrong in the forest, specifically falling of trees leading to animal deaths or the thick trunks of them blocking flowing water, leading to a flood.
Considered to be a shape-shifter, it was Genos or any other shape-shifters duty to patrol and protect the forest. Both Geno and Error would take turns, Error would patrol at nighttime since his black coat could be used as a camouflage through the night, and Geno would patrol at dawn as his Phoenix would give out to much light at nighttime, so it was easier to patrol at dawn.
Fresh was also their brother and did not possess any magic trait like them, however, it made it easier for the trio since it is hard to control one's animal, especially in public, so Fresh would help to financially stable the house while his brother performed their assigned duties as shape-shifters.

Geno sighed as he stood on the rooftop of his shared house, waiting for sunrise as he summoned his wings made of fire. After a few minutes, the sun welcomed him with shining its vibrant and warm rays as they fell onto the forest, giving it warmth and color. With one final glance at the forest, he shifted into his Fire Phoenix, letting his magic flow through his body as he opened his wings and took flight.
The rain, or last night's storm, left quite the damage to the forest, no matter where he looked, he saw either fallen trees or the corpses of the creatures of the forest. It pained him to see the forest int his state, but nothing could be done, it was the cycle of nature after all.
Minutes turned into hours as he flew, helping many animals recover their fallen nests of dens, it took great effort to remove trees on his own but no one could help him. Error was too tired after last night's storm, having to stay out in the rain to help the animals get to safer ground, leaving him with faint injuries and as expected, a fever.
Having flown over the whole forest twice he considered retiring for the day. Suddenly, the sky clouded over and the wind picked up, swaying the trees as it blew by.
Genos POV; (About time!)
This is bad, really bad. I flapped my wings as fast as I could, trying to reach the house before the rain started. If it starts raining, my fire will weaken, and I won't be able to fly or move since it will drain both my magic and my energy. Unfortunately, I was too late, a few drops of rain landed on my wings and body, leaving me in aching pain.
Quickly I found a place to land, changing into my skeleton form. I, being an idiot, forgot my phone at home, meaning I had no communication device to alert my brothers. I almost lost balance as I leaned against a tree for support, feeling dizzy from the sudden magic drainage from my body.
After a few minutes, I started to carefully walk my way home, in the soaking rain. I had a good sense of direction since I lived there for more than 5 years, meaning that my way home should be a piece of cake right?
Wrong, very wrong.
I had a sense of direction but it was too cold and foggy to see where I was going, leading me to just hurry back of where I think my home was located. During my panic, I saw a figure in the distance, I thought it might be an animal but a closer look at it told me it was a monster a skeleton to be precise.
Weird... no one should be this far out in the woods unless I'm way closer to home than I think I am. Walking over to them I yelled out to get their attention, "Hey!" they seemed to have heard me and quickly walked over to me, from the looks of it, I could tell they were new to town, and this forest too.
"Excuse me, do you know the way back to the city? I seemed to have lost my way..." They were a white boned skeleton dressed in a black hoodie, grey pants, and sneakers, and judging from their voice they seemed to be male. The skeleton wore a worried expression as he looked at me, he had no eye-lights, I only saw black as I looked into their sockets, it reminded me of an empty void.
"Yes, but unfortunately I can't lead you there, the rain will get heavy soon and we'll get more lost than we already are, you can stay at my cabin for the time being if you like," I was not one to be offering random strangers a night at my home, let alone talk to them, but this one just seemed... different, like I've known him for a long time and that I could trust him.
"Thank you! I owe you big time! Also, aren't you cold? You are only wearing a thin hoodie and a t-shirt," He said, pointing to my attire, "Here, take my hoodie, it's the least I can do," He quickly took off his hoodie and handed it over to me, I put it on and mentioned him to follow me, hopefully walking down the path where I thought looked familiar.
"Thanks for the hoodie... my names Geno by the way," I murmured, continuing to walk, not sparing a glance at the stranger following me. "No problem, my names Reaper, it's a pleasure meeting you, Geno" I looked back and smiled at him, he smiled back and ran up to walk next to me, sharing small talks here and there.
We finally reached the cabin, opening the front door I was greeted by Error hugging me tightly, whispering into my shoulder of how worried he was and how he was about to go out and look for me, gently reassuring him I hugged back. I looked back at Reaper, seeing him glance around the cabin with awe, he caught my stare, and before I could speak Error interrupted me.
"Geno who is he? And what is he doing here?"
(Cliffhanger, ya'll ain't finding out what's going to happen until I get inspiration for the next chapter. Yee-)
(Also I'm too tired to spell/Grammar check, sorry) T-T
