IRL ! ; valentine's pov

               RAYS OF SUNSHINE peek through the blinds of valentine's shared dorm room, eventually waking her up from the deep slumber she fell into. after everything that happened last night, val desperately needed to sleep, especially with the small feeling of guilt that's slowly consuming her.

but of course when valentine's eyes flutter open, she glances over at sophie's side of the room to see that she's already awake with a radiant smile on her face while texting somebody. she quickly waves at valentine, "mornin'!" sophie beams before turning her attention back to her phone.

even despite it being the second day of valentine's fresh start at blackmore, she's slowly warming up to sophie, just not her friends. they briefly introduced themselves to valentine at the frat party, only muttering quick 'hellos' before leaving val by herself. she doesn't mind though because solitude is better than everything but even while being surrounded by hundreds of people valentine still felt lonely.

she just huffs, leaning up and propping her body up with her elbows. "morning sophie," valentine eventually replies followed by a yawn.

"i'm sooo sorry you didn't properly meet my friends," soph says, sounding genuinely upset because anybody can tell that sophie is an empath by the way she acts. she's sweet with a kind soul that valentine can immediately see. "you should have lunch with us," she offers a caring smile.

valentine's not sure what changed overnight but she wouldn't mind spending time doing something other than worrying about chris. "yeah—sure, that's fine," val responds as sophie rises from her seated position on the bed.

"cool!" she beams while adjusting the strap of her vest. "i'm gonna go take a shower," sophie mutters and valentine just nods as a response before she's out of the room, leaving val alone.

once the door clicks behind sophie, valentine fully leans up, easily reaching under her pillow for mars' phone. but val's just glad she turned it on silent because all she felt while she was sleeping was the phone vibrating from beneath it. she turns it on and is immediately greeted by a 'good morning baby' text from chris. it's honestly unbelievable to her how caring chris is because when you look at him and the people he surrounds himself with, all you'll think is that he's a player.

she just sighs, responding to them like this whole situation is normal, but suddenly, a strong feeling of curiosity takes over so valentine clicks on the messages app, her eyes widening once she clicks on a text thread between mars and somebody that's on the football team with chris.

               VALENTINE JUST FEELS pure disgust as she continues to scroll through the messages between mars and one of chris' friends. she simply cannot wrap her head around the fact that mars could do something so hurtful towards chris, somebody who genuinely cares for her and makes it obvious to everyone around them whether it's in person or on his socials. but val ensures to screenshot every single incriminating message of mars cheating, planning on sending it to her phone later on.

now val doesn't feel guilty for what she's done to mars as it was deserved because lying and cheating on somebody like christopher just pisses her off. her jaw trembles as her grip on the phone tightens, wishing that she could've made mars suffer through the amount of pain she deserved.

valentine places mars' phone back on her pillow, then reaching for the box she's hiding beneath her bed while her jaw tenses. she just can't believe she was slowly letting the guilt eating her alive when in reality, she did chris a favor.

but that's just what valentine will continue to do because chris means everything to her even though val shouldn't be jealous because he isn't even hers.

well, not yet.

valentine knows how to make her his though, so before she opens her box to place mars' phone in, she picks it up. val then turns it on and clicks straight on the messages app to where chris' name is, sending him those screenshots of the texts between mars and jason.

"fuck," val breathes out, inhaling and clamping her eyes closed as chris instantly opens the message. she eventually opens her eyes, immediately greeted by a bunch of texts from chris ranging from '???' to 'mars wtf'.

this is exactly what needed to happen though, because mars deserved this and every single bad thing that's happened after playing chris, a sweet guy who practically kissed the ground she walked on. however, valentine allows chris to continue to spam messages full of confusion as she places the phone in the open box, closing it and returning it to the place beneath her bed.

she begins to quietly chuckle to herself as a single tear slowly runs down her soft cheek without a clue as to what's causing this reaction. maybe it's the overwhelming emotions valentine is starting to feel at once or maybe it's the fact that all of this is starting to remind valentine of her past—the one she's trying to forget.

as well as the girl who started this all.
