               "OKAY THAT'S NOT how it sounds miks," chris mumbles with his hands on mikayla's hips, attempting to clear up what serena previously said, "i promise."

mikayla frowns and tilts her head, still sat on the counter. "so you didn't invite your ucla girlfriend to stay with you?" she retorts, rolling her tongue inside of her cheek.

it might not be obvious but mikayla's an overthinker. not jealous, she just has a habit of thinking too much about something in a way that is more harmful than helpful. it's been like that ever since she was young, but it's not like she's in the wrong right now. chris doesn't mention serena having a crush on him, or the fact that she was flying out or even how she's staying at his parents' house.

"i'm being deadass right now, marylou offered a place for serena," he eventually says and mikayla's eyebrows furrow at his unexpected response. "you know that i practically stay at your apartment whenever i'm not in la," chris adds on, a pleading look in his eyes for mikayla to understand. "serena'll just be there with nick and matt, maria too i guess because she's always with him."

mikayla agreeingly nods her head because she trusts chris more than anyone and she knows he wouldn't do anything to purposely hurt her, "fine chris, but you'd have to be stupid to not see that she's doing it on purpose."

"doing what?" he questions before clearing his throat, his hands still on her hips. "i mean...fine, yeah i see it miks and i'll, you know—make it obvious that i'm not into whatever she's doing," chris offers her a soft smile while their eyes lock.

mikayla's hand reaches for his brunette waves—still slightly upset that he cut his hair—tugging on them and looking up at chris through her lashes. a small smile grows on her face and she leans forward to press a quick kiss onto his lips. "thank you chris," she whispers while wrapping her arms around his neck.

"you don't have to thank me for being understanding, miks," chris mumbles and mikayla's eyes sparkle before he leans forward to do one of his favorite things; kiss his girlfriend. he smiles into the kiss while mikayla twirls his hair around her acrylics. but she pulls away for a second, looking at chris and admiring his flushed state before looking down at her pinging phone.

"we should go back to the others," she says, with a frown because its the last thing she wants to do. mikayla honestly wished that she could stay with chris because talking to him for hours is something she loves to do, "matt's being matt so we gotta go before they leave us..."

chris rolls his eyes at that before pulling mikayla into another kiss. "fucking cockblockers," he groans, making mikayla softly chuckle as he helps her off of the sink. chris drops his hands to his side, choosing to grab mikayla's and link their fingers.

               MIKAYLA GROANS QUIETLY as her eyes flutter open due to the rays of sunshine pooling through her blinds. chris snores loudly, the noise filling her ears from behind with his arms wrapped around her waist beneath one of his old shirts she's wearing—another habit gained since their relationship started. a hum of approval leaves her lips as she rotates her body, now facing his heaving chest.

after the couple met the rest of their friend group, the friends split up and went their own ways. matt drove the minivan back to mary lou and jimmy's house with nick, maria and serena after he dropped mason and lucille to her house. while mikayla drove back to the apartment with nate and chris. she's just glad that he came back with her, rather than going with the others, serena in other words.

of course mikayla would trust him enough to go with them, but it's just serena she doesn't trust with those sly comments and her weird body language.

mikayla looks up at chris, happy to call him hers, and she plays with his hair; just something that she's always enjoyed doing. chris' nose twitches at the action and he smiles without opening his eyes, making miks giggle quietly.

his eyes open eventually, adjusting to the sunlight and miks grins widely, continuing to play with his brunette waves. "someone's tired," she teases and chris just rolls his eyes before he rolls onto his back with an arm around mikayla's waist. she shuffles closer towards him, resting her cheek on his chest.

"i love you miks," chris randomly speaks up, break the comfortable silence they fell into. mikayla's head immediately shoots up and she blinks repeatedly at chris. not because she's in shock of course since it's not the first time they've said it to each other, mikayla just loves how it sounds.

"i love you too chris," miks replies with a dimpled grin, until her phone pings from her bedside table. she stretches over chris to grab it and respond to her new messages.
