We pulled into school and I got out quickly, wanting to check in with the front office secretary.

I was a student ambassador for Hawkins high. Usually, I was only needed once or twice a year.

On Mondays was when new students usually started so Phyllis the office lady would give me assignments in the morning.

"Good morning Diana!" Phyllis greeted me as I walked in.

"Morning!" I smiled, setting my stuff down on the counter in front of me.

"Great news, you actually get to show someone around this week," Phyllis informed me.

I felt my heart race a bit. "No one too harsh I hope. That last girl scared me enough to want to quit."

"No actually. This time it's a guy, a real charmer. All the way from California!" Phyllis clapped in excitement. "He's in the principals office right now getting his schedule sorted out but when he comes out you can get started on the tour. I already notified your teachers that you were busy today so don't worry about it."

I took a seat in one of the empty office chairs and waited while Phyllis told me about her wedding anniversary coming up. Her husband, ironically named Phil, was planning on taking her to New York to see a musical on broadway.

Phyllis loved to talk, especially about herself. I've learned a lot over the last two years of being a student ambassador.

Phyllis and Phil have been married for 43 years. They have one son named Mitchell who is 37 and has been in the Navy since he was 22.

Mitchell has a wife named Laurel who is 31 and a daughter named Gretchen who just turned 10 last week.

Phyllis loves horses so her and Phil own three horses at a ranch outside Hawkins. Phyllis also really likes those tiny mints in a tin because she has about ten of them in the desk in front of her.

She always offers me one and I always decline because they make me sneeze for some reason.

Phyllis finished telling me about her plans when the principals office door burst open, revealing the balding principal followed by the hottest guy I'd ever seen.

He stood taller than me so probably 6 foot something, a denim jacket and long hair complimenting his drop dead gorgeous face.

The principal cleared his throat, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Good morning Diana. We have a new student here with us. This is William, from California."

"Please, call me Billy," The guy smiled at me, his voice husky. I got goosebumps and for a moment I was mesmerized, but then I shook it off and got back to business.

"Here's the schedule for today and also a map of the building. You're in good hands Billy. Diana is our best student ambassador," the principal smiled once more before disappearing back into his office.

I stood up and grabbed my things, swinging my purse over my shoulder.

I stuck out my hand, "Nice to meet you." I put on my most dazzling smile as we shook hands.

Billy's hands were soft with callouses on the middle ridges of the inside of his hand. He gave me a panty dropping smile in return and I nearly died.

"Follow me," I told him, feeling like I just sounded absolutely pathetic as we walked out of the office area and into the hallway, where crowds were slowly dissipating.

We walked for what seems like eternity, but really it was 30 seconds. I stopped at the main entrance of the building, where I usually started my tours.

"Welcome to the wonderful Hawkins High. This is the main entrance by the parking lot where most people come in from."

I started walking down the hall away from the main office.

I could feel Billy's eyes follow me as we walked down the hall.

"Each hall has five classrooms on each side of the hall. Ten in total. If we follow this hall, it will lead us to the gym and then out the gym doors and to the athletics fields."

I began to babble about the school and its activities.
