4: So How's School?
The first week of school was slow. I got to know everyone by name. I got my hero suit. I finally moved into the dorms. I'm officially a part of the "Bakusquad". I guess that was the name of Bakugou's friend group. It was getting harder and harder for me to get close to Bakugou. It's like he knew I'm bad. I had to start getting creative. I tried changing my personality to match his friends but it didn't work. For example:
One morning during class I tried to match Kirishima's personality since he seems to like Kirishima more than the rest. So I showed up to class with a smile on my face and tried to be more up beat.
"Hey Sōjū!" Sero smiled as I walked through the door.
"Good morning Sero-Kun!" I said with a cheerful smile.
"Woah someone is in a good mood! What's got you all happy?" Denki asked as he leaned onto his palm as his elbow rested on his desk.
"Oh nothing, just thought that I should start being more positive!" I said, keeping my fake smile even though every part of face muscles were telling me to stop.
"I like this new Sōjū!" Kirishima said with a smile.
"Thank you Kirishina-Kun!" I said flashing him a big smile. I glanced at Bakugou and he had that same bored look until we met eyes. His red eyes furrowed when he noticed my smile.
"What the hell happened to you?!" He yelled.
"Oh, I'm just in a good mood is all." I said giving him a small smile with a gentle shrug.
"That's bullshit. I've known you for a couple weeks and even I know this isn't you. Stop the stupid act." Bakugou growled at me.
I let out a huff and frowned as the group got mad at Bakugou for "ruining my mood". In reality, I was just frustrated it didn't work.
I walked to my desk and continued to frown as I dropped my bag on the floor next to me and crossed my arms on my desk and rested my chin in the middle of my arms. I started analizing his personality to see what would match his the best. So I tried acting more like him, didn't work. All he ever did was insult me. For example:
The next day I showed up, putting on a face to match Bakugou's.
I walked into class with an angry expression.
"Hey Sōjū!" Sero smiled like he did every morning.
"Leave me alone!" I yelled at him as I quickly walked to my seat in the back of the class. I dropped my bag by my side and leaned back in my chair with my arms crossed.
I noticed Sero no longer had his smile. He was always smiling. I kinda felt bad for him but it didn't matter, getting Bakugou's attention was my goal.
I thought it worked when I saw Bakugou stand up and walk to me. I could hear his growl get louder the closer he got.
He slammed his hand on my desk and got up in my face, snarling with a smirk on his lips.
"The fuck was that about? Got a stick up your ass or something?" He growled at me.
ok Rin, keep this shit up and its in the bag! I thought to myself as I smirked back at Bakugou.
"I don't have shit up my ass but I hear bullshit coming out of your mouth!" I growled back.
I noticed his hand that was resting on my desk was starting to let off small explosions. My curiosity almost got the better of me.
"YOU WANNA GO STRAIGHT FACE?!!" He screamed at me.
"BRING IT DUMBASS!" I shouted back as I stood up, getting into his face as well.
He brought his hand up and grabbed the bottom of my chin, forcing my face up and I could feel his hand still letting off more explosions. It kinda hurt but I didn't care.
I was about to use my quirk on him but Kirishima pulled him off of me and Sero pulled me back away from Bakugou.
"LET ME GO, IF HE WANTS TO FIGHT, HE CAN CATCH THESE HANDS!" I screamed and tried to fight Sero's grip.
Kirishima used his quirk to harden his arms to keep Bakugou from escaping.
After a while of stuggling, Bakugou calmed down and got pissed, pushing Kirishima aside. Sero didn't let go of me.
I glared at Sero and pushed him off of me, walking to my desk again.
This one morning I finally figured out how to get close to him. It was a Saturday morning and we were allowed to leave campus but only in groups.
The squad decided to just hang out at a mall. Mina decided to drag the other three boys into a makeup store to help her pick stuff out cause she had learned I'm not into makeup, leaving me alone with Bakugou.
"So why have you been acting so damn strange lately?" Bakugou asked me.
"What do you mean? You barely know me. You've known me for a little under a month. This could be normal for me for all you know." I responded.
"You show up everyday with a new mask on weirdo." He insulted.
I stayed silent trying to come up with an answer but I couldn't come up with one so I told him the truth.
"I was trying to get your attention. I'm not going to lie, I wanna get to know you better but you always seem so isolated and I didn't know how to get close to that wall you put up so I acted different to see how you would react." I explained. I didn't lie to him. I did want to get to know him.
"You dumbass. You shouldn't change the way you are to get the attention of someone." He said as he flicked my forehead.
I groaned when he flicked me and rubbed where he flicked me. I thought for a second and realized that I already had his attention, he just didn't show it the way I thought he would.
I glanced at him and took note of how he was acting. He was a little sweaty and his hands were out of his pockets unlike normally, his eyes were shifted toward the floor, his fingers were curled up, not quite in a fist but close, and he wasn't slouching like he normally would.
I smirked and grabbed his hand. He finched and pulled his hand away from me, backing up.
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT DUMBASS?!!! DID I FLICK THE SENSE OUT OF THAT EMPTY HEAD OF YOURS?" He exclaimed as I noticed a small fog of pink on his cheeks.
My right side of my lips curled up into a side smirk as I shook my head.
"Nah." I responded as I started getting more and more ideas to get close to Bakugou.
