Chapter SIX: Coronation

THIRD PERSON POV

The choirs high voices rang through the cathedral as the Coronation began. The three VK's in the balcony shared a look of worry, and remorse.

The giant doors opened as Alex was shown to everyone. Murmurs of how great he looked were heard from the guests on the floor as everyone bowed to the soon to be king. He walked down the blue carpet towards his mother and father at the altar.

He looked to his left and smiled at Ben and Mal, the latter having a sad look on her face once he passed.

Fairy Godmother stepped up to the Altar and hugged Belle. She turned to the current king and curtsied before reaching up and taking the crown from his head. She walked over to where Alex had kneeled and placed the crown on his head, with Mal looking nervous to his left.

Alex's father removed the glass casing of the magic wand as Belle picked it up, before handing it to its owner. Mal looked up to her friends, who shared her nervous look. Fairy Godmother stood in front of Alex.

"Do you solemnly swear, to govern the peoples of Auradon, with justice and mercy, as long as you shall reign?" She asked the prince. Mal stared up at the interaction.

"I do solemnly swear." Alex answered, smiling up at them.

She tapped each of his shoulders with the wand. "Then it is my honour, and my joy, to bless our new king-" She was cut off from her speech as the wand was grabbed from her hand. A stream of energy was shot from its tip as it hit the barrier, creating a hole in its outside.

"Child, what are you doing?!" Fairy Godmother asked the girl.

"If you won't make me beautiful I'll do it myself!" Jane shouted back as the force of the wand forced her side to side. Alex ran in front of Ben and Mal. "Bibbity, bobbity, boo!" She tried to cast but to no avail.

The guests ducked down as she was shook around. Mal ran around the boys and to the girl and eventually forced the wand from her hand. Alex and Ben stood in front of her as Evie, Jay and Carlos ran down from the balcony.

"Mal, it's ok." Alex tried to reason with her.

"Guys stand back." She warned them. The other three ran in from the doors and down the aisle.

"Just give me the wand, Mal." Ben followed suit from his brother.

"Ben, I said stand back!" Mal shouted.

"I told you so." Audrey spoke from the side as Mal turned to face her, forcing gasps from everyone as Audrey backed off.

"Let's go."

"Revenge time."

Alex looked over at Evie. "You really wanna do this?" She looked down guiltily.

"We have no choice Alex. Our parents-"

"You're parents made their choice. Now you get to make yours." He told them. Mal looked up at the three on the altar, and their looks of concern.

"I think I wanna be good." She said honestly.

"You are good." Alex once again looked at Evie. "All of you."

"How do you know that?!" Mal asked them.

"Because.. because we're listening to our hearts." Ben told her, as her face softened.

"I wanna listen to my heart too." She lowered the wand and turned her her friends. "And my heart is telling me that we are not our parents."

"I mean stealing things doesn't make you happy.." She gestured to Jay. "Turney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy." She said as he smiled to himself. "And you, scratching Dude's belly makes you happy, who would've thought?" She said to Carlos as she laughed slightly. She then turned to her best friend.

"And Evie.. you do not need to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart." They both chuckled. "And I know what you really want." She finished. Evie glanced up at Alex whose eyes were trained on her.

"And I don't wanna take over the world with evil, it doesn't make me happy. I wanna go to school. And be with Ben." The boy looked up at her. "'Cause Ben makes me really happy." She told him as she turned to him and showed off the ring, he smiled at her.

"Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things." As Evie shook her head. "I choose good, you guys." She said, putting her first towards them. For a moment it looked like she was alone in this thought.

"I choose good too." Jay said sticking his hand in.

Evie smiled at them. "I choose good." Everyone looked at Carlos.

"So, just to be clear, we don't have to be worried about how really mad our parents will be?" Everyone laughed at his concern. "'Cause they're gonna be really, really mad."

"Your parents can't reach you here." Ben told him, as his concerns were alleviated.

"Ok then. Good." He finally put his hand in. Mal nodded her head towards the princes. They made their way towards the former villains and stuck their own fists in. Mal leaned her head against Ben's shoulder, as Evie and Alex smiled at each other.

Their joy was short lived, as a cloud of green smoke came billowing in from the window. Alex and Ben were forced away from the group as the smoke landed, revealing Maleficent.

"I'm back!" She shouted.

Mal let out a sigh. "Go away, mother."

Maleficent laughed and snorted. "She's funny. You're very funny. Here. Wand me, chop chop." She told her daughter, as Mal threw the wand to fairy godmother.

"Bibbity bobbity-"

"Boo." Maleficent finished off for her as she froze everyone. Alex had began to run towards Evie after Maleficent raised the spear, but was now stuck in place.

"Sike." Maleficent snorted again as she laughed, making her way over to Beast. "Ohh, in another time, in another time." She wondered as she twirled his glasses in her mouth. She mumbled her song as she made her way to Fairy Godmother.

She took the wand from her hand and forced the ring from Mal's finger, making her look sadly at her hand. Maleficent walked over to the princes. "Falling in love is weak, and ridiculous." She said, playing with Alex's face.

"Leave him alone." Evie tried to tell her, making her chuckle.

"Well, at least Queenie'll be happy you found your prince. Fine. This one can stay. He can be our butler or something. But you?!" She gestured to Mal. "It's not what you want."

"You don't know what I want!" Mal fired back. "Mom has you ever once asked me, what I want? I'm not you." She told her.

"Well obviously. I've had years and years and years and.. years of practice being evil. You'll get there." Her mother tried to encourage her.

"No I will not! And I really wish that you had never gotten there yourself." Maleficent looked angry. "Love is not weak, or ridiculous. It's actually really amazing."

"I know one thing, young lady. You have no room, for love in your life!" Maleficent shouted at her.

Mal gritted her teeth. "And now I command, wand to my hand!" She cast as Maleficent struggled against the spell, eventually relenting.

"It worked." Mal said.

"I hardly think so. This is merely tedious, and very immature. Give me the wand. Give me the wand!" Maleficent shouted at her.

"Hold on Mal." Carlos told her. "Maybe good really is more powerful than evil." He said.

"Awhoho, please, you're killing me." Maleficent barked at him as Dude ran in and jumped at her. Jay ran to her and tried to force the sceptre from her hand. She ran her hand up his arm. "Gaston should be jealous." She told him, as she flicked his forehead, disorienting him.

"Hahah. Enough!" The kids looked to her. "You all, will regret this!" She told them as the smoke reappeared, and from it came a huge purple dragon. They all looked shocked up at it, as it let out a breath of fire towards Jay.

He rolled out of the way and ran to the side of the church. He slid into an archway as the dragon caught up with him. "C'mon Jay run!" Carlos shouted as his friend ran back towards the altar, stopping once she had shown up in front of him.

"Jay!" Mal shouted as they all ran down the aisle.

The dragon was hot on Jay's tail. "Magic mirror shine a bright light!" Evie told it, as a light shone into the dragon's eyes. This temporary blindness forced her to the ground.

"Get behind me, E. Leave my friends alone!" Mal warned her mom.

The dragon growled as they faced off. "This is between you and me mother." Their eyes turned green. "The strength of evil, is good as none, when stands before four hearts as one!" Mal cast. She repeated this incantation. Their green eyes stared into each other as they tested their resolves.

Eventually, Maleficent relented, and the smoke once again surrounded her. The group looked at each other, shocked, as Fair Godmother was unfrozen. They all ran to the small lizard that had appeared.

"Did you do it?"

"I don't know!"

The group questioned what happened as they reached it. "No, no, no, your mother did. She shrank to the size of the love in her heart. That's why it's so.. itty bitty." Fairy Godmother told them.

"Will she be like that forever?" Mal asked leaning down.

"Forever is a long time. Maybe if you can learn to love, so can she." They exchanged the wand and the ring and Fairy Godmother unfroze everyone.

Ben and Alex roared as they charged at the group. Mal placing her hands up to stop them. "We kinda got this wrapped up here." She told them laughing. Ben grabbed her by the waist and hugged her in the air. Alex smiled over at Evie, one she returned.

"Next time I rescue you, ok?" Ben told her.

"Yeah let's not let there be a next time."

Mal left to talk to Fairy Godmother, leaving the group alone. Evie and Alex looked up at each other, not knowing how to go about this.

"I'm sorry Evie." He started. She continued gaze at him. "I shouldn't have ignored you like that, and I left things really weirdly." He took a breath. "I just want you to be happy. And I wish you and Doug nothing but the best. I just hope we can be friends." He told her.

"Alex.." She started. "Doug and I aren't together." She told him.

He looked up, very confused. "You're not?" She shook her head. "But I thought?.." It started to click in his head. "I'm an idiot."

Evie laughed at him as they moved closer to each other. They would have continued had it not been for the group. "Let's get this party started!" They all laughed at Jay. "Ohayohayhay!"
