❚ mandatory character death

hi, guys! so, i'm going to talk about something that i've not really spoken about with you guys yet but i believe it is pretty important.

so, here's the thing. this is a roleplay with stakes involved. your oc cannot make dumb decisions and be excused. they may not always be killed but they will face consequences. of course, not every character will get punished for a mistake, because, again, audience matters. your oc can be dumb around some people but not around others. however, some consequences may lead to death.

in addition, some plot points require death and that's when we hit a wall. well, you can't kill without permission, can you? actually, we can under specific circumstances. for some events we will use a spinner to determine who dies or gets punished for something (even if they didn't do anything — lots of stuff didn't have actual evidence ngl) and we want to show this without asking who would be willing to give up their character.

also we may choose characters to die or be punished based on their actions if not the spinner (because some will make poor decisions). now, the king's council will be doing some investigating in the roleplay so there may be circumstances where i hold a poll with their admins and they'll vote someone onto the chopping block (based off of their character's belief and not their own. they must be suspicious of an oc to condemn them). this will all be done in roleplay btw but it must reflect a character's beliefs and not your own.

as for the spinner and how that'll work, i will not rig it for those with only one oc. if your oc is chosen to die then oh well, either you will have to either create a new oc and hop back in or you won't be part of the roleplay anymore. or ya know, some might be able to escape death somehow. but originally i was going to rig it a bit but i decided that i'm not going to because that's not very fair. there's always open roles for a second oc, you know.

however, some of you might be wondering about roles like the elyrian royals, the seven assassins, the foreign royals, and the king's council. i will actually rig things for them during the first half of the roleplay. they will face consequences too but since they are the main force of the plot, they probably won't be dying until the second half in which everyone has an equal opportunity to die. for these specific roles, they will likely be killed based on counts of treason, exploitation, or some may be killed by other characters for getting too close to discovering them or for attempting to expose them. someone may also be hired to assassinate them btw.

anyways, this roleplay has a lot of death but we aren't going to kill everyone off despite how we are making it seem rn. don't worry about everyone dying (:

finally, i do want to talk about some things. the elyrian society is sexist and homophobic but for foreign royals, ladies, and guards, the majority of kingdoms were more lax if not completely liberal (their views should reflect a more liberal stance!!!!) but i'm noticing a trend of homophobic ocs that claim to not be homophobic. i can't tell if they're just in denial or what? elyrian society says homophobia is okay so don't sugarcoat it, cool? cool. btw i'm not mad and i don't mind those ocs (given the roleplay's nature) but if your oc is homophobic, just say it how it is so it's less confusing. remember, discrimination or dislike of homosexuals or homosexuality is homophobia. and again, just because your oc has morally incorrect views doesn't mean you share those views (unless they do in some cases—).

also another thing to clear up is romantic and sexual orientation (i notice many people do not understand it). romantic orientation is who you love and sexual orientation is who you're sexually attracted to.
romantic — emotional
sexual — well, sexual

let's say, for example, a panromantic homosexual person. they are able to be romantically attracted to all genders but would only have sex with someone of the same sex.

or, say, a heteroromantic bisexual character. they would only be romantically interested in the opposite sex but are sexually attracted to the same sex and the opposite sex as well.

hopefully that cleared things up. thanks for reading!
