Thirtieth Prompt: A promise

„Promise me you'll protect them."

„I promise, Mum."

Peter looked back at Edmund.
His little brother nodded and Peter turned back to face the witch and her army.
He didn't feel ready.

The witch had had the strength to kill Aslan, how on earth should he beat her?

He drawed his sword and gave the sign.
He saw the griffins, flying over him.

Stay safe, Edmund. I promised Mum.

"Will you be with me?"
"To the death."

"FOR NARNIA! AND FOR ASLAN!"

The unicorn started to run and Peter's heart started to beat faster, when the beast's of the witch came closer and closer.

And then the fight begun.

A blue light catched Peter's attention and he turned around, only to see Edmund and the witch.

No!

The witch's staff was broken.
Had Edmund done that?

Peter stared at them, when the witch started to fight with Edmund.
He couldn't move. Fear shot through his body.

Edmund!, he thought.

Then the sword flashed right through Edmund's body and Peter couldn't tell if he was screaming, or if he wasn't making a noise at all.

He ran up to the witch.

"You will pay for this!", he shouted, tears in his eyes. The witch laughed.

"It is finished, Peter", Aslan said and Peter sighed.
The fight was over, Narnia had won.

"Peter!", Lucy screamed. He turned around and his sisters pulled him into a hug.

"Where's Edmund?", Susan asked and pain stroke through Peter's body.

Edmund. Edmund!

He trained around and ran off, to where Edmund lied on the grass.

"Ed!", he whispered and knelt down beside him.

He didn't notice much of what his sisters did, but Lucy pulled out her healing cordial.

But Edmund didn't woke up when the drop had disappeared.

It looked like he even had stopped breathing!

Peter looked up, into Susan's face and tried to find something he could hold on, something like hope.
But it wasn't there.

He looked back to Edmund.

Eddie... Eddie, wake up. I need you!

Edmund breathed in.

Peter started to cry and when Edmund opened his eyes Peter pulled him up into a hug.

"When are you going to learn to do as you're told?"

Edmund only smiled a little, knowing that he probably never would.
