it had been two weeks since you'd sent in an online application to the biggest law firm in the city to be a paralegal. it had also been one week since they had, to your surprise, invited you for an in person interview. it had gone terribly wrong. stumbling on your words, misunderstanding questions, getting caught in clear lies about your experience- you were certain nothing but a rejection would ensue. except, they did call. "the job is yours," they said. you couldn't believe it. but only a fool wouldn't have accepted it, so, of course, you did.

there you were, day one at the firm, dressed in your best business attire. one of the junior partners had greeted you at the main doors of the building and taken you up to the top floor, where he'd offered to tour you around the office. it was thirty minutes into his tour when he stopped in front of a cubicle, empty lest for a new monitor and the basic office supplies: pens, pencils, paper clips, hole-punch, the works. and, pushed up into the corner but clearly shown, was a standing plaque with your name on it. the junior partner told you to make yourself at home while someone else greets you, then left you to your own accord. and as you wondered what it was exactly you were meant to do after by your lonesome, you saw a familiar face heading right towards you from down the hallway. (bias).

"(oc name), how nice to see you," he/she said once at your cubicle. in your moment of stunned silence, you realised that the office in front of which you were set up had a sleek silver plaque on the door. (bias' name) it read.
