WALE POV
In the midst of the loud conversation and throbbing music, my eyes catch sight of her, and in an instant, it feels as though my world has stopped. I can swear she looks familiar.
From the moment I set my eyes on her walking through the front door with her friend, the host's girlfriend, I gasped in awe at the ethereal beauty she emitted. To be honest, I'm mesmerized and can't help but be drawn to her.
And like one charmed, my brain obediently goes numb, and my eyes are blind to all the ladies flooding my space. I try my best not to make my stare obvious, but her stunning looks just make it impossible.
My stare is a mixture of admiration and curiosity as I yearn to discover the unanswered question regarding the alluring woman who has so casually captured my attention. "I'm positive I've seen her somewhere. But where?"
I initially refused my cousin's invitation to his friend's party. He said all he wanted was to mingle, and I never believed it was possible to find genuine love at a party.
That's me, a serious-minded Yoruba guy, and a complete package of TDH. Tall, dark, and handsome. It's been a while since my last breakup, and I just want to pause on any new relationship. Or so I thought.
I eventually agreed to join my cousin at the party. Not that he made any effort to persuade me to join him, but because a lady, whom a friend tried to pair me up with, was determined to come over, and I don't want to see her at all.
I met the girl once on a date; she was okay in terms of beauty, but every man has their own taste, and she isn't mine. She works at a cooperative firm, owns her own car, and lives comfortably. But, like every other shallow girl, all she did was talk about exotic travels on vacation, shopping, and her career. Not that they were bad, but damn, was she talkative. She made no room to ask serious questions, and even when she managed to ask a mediocre question, her patient was too low to listen for a reply. It was annoying that all I did was stare at her quietly while cursing my friend for setting me up with her.
The date was horrible for me; she told me she wanted to visit me at my house, and I had to run away.
"The party won't be that bad." I told myself this and immediately placed a call to my cousin, accepting his invitation.
My cousin knows a lot of people, and Uche happens to be one of his oldest friends. Although he kept his promise, the moment we arrived at the party, he went straight to mingle, abandoning me to people I didn't know and ladies I seemed not to be interested in.
"Hey handsome." I hear one of the ladies call to me, "You seem quite uninterested in being here; should we take the party somewhere else?" Her question hit an inattentive ear and fell back into her mouth. I can tell my lack of interest in her upset her, but I didn't mean to intentionally ignore her. The lady who has all my attention is now standing inches away from me.
The room is saturated in vivid colors, but she stands out like a beautiful obsidian pearl among the rainbow of hues. Hugging her slender figure is a black minidress that clings to her curves with a seductive appeal. The supple material highlights her exquisite movements, as though it were an extension of her own ethereal beauty.
While my brain is trying so hard to recall where I've met her, my eyes feed their apatite in careful adulation. Her long, slim legs seem to go on forever, accented by a pair of stylish shoes that give her outfit an extra dash of refinement. She exudes inherent magnetism from every pore, which is only amplified by the simplicity of her outfit.
Beneath neatly arc-shaped eyebrows are a pair of almond-shaped eyes with orbs of the deepest, most intriguing shade of brown gazing out into the world, suggesting a wealth of secrets waiting to be revealed. Her lips, adorned with a seductive shade of crimson, curl into a timid smile that commands my feet to take a step closer.
She is the picture of sophistication and grace, a seductive vision in black who dominates the attention and awe of everyone who dares to view her.
I can't tell what arouses me while lost in her charm—is it her alluring face or the tender look of her ebony skin? Her body is perfectly sculpted, everything placed in the right proportion, enough to turn a guy's head—my head—to nut.
I watch her turn in my direction as she laughs, giving me a full view of her angelic beauty. My heart skipped a beat when her bewitching brown eyes caught my stare and sent cold chills down my spine. Right then, it hit me. I remember where I first met her.
"Abeg, waka well." That was what she said to me after hitting me on her way out of the Primy bar.
I chuckle after remembering that incident, and then I propose In my heart to get at least an apology from her tonight.
I was pushing myself to move in her direction, but come to a halt when I hear Uche call for the attention of everyone.
