Never Like Home
"Y/n!!"
"Grey!" You cheered with the same excitement as you leaped into his arms, which were so quick to pull you in his embrace, just as you were with him. "Ah, I missed you so much!" You heard him same as his grip on you grew tighter. "I definitely missed you more, being across the world isn't too easy." You chuckled, hearing him do the same. You both reluctantly pulled away from the hug, giving one another a genuine smile of joy. "It's been too long," Greyson said. "It's been too long." You repeated. "Now come on, let me through, I wanna see my little Jasmine, where is she?" You said as you pushed past him into the home with your things, immediately taking in the brighter look of the house.
You remembered it looked dark and gloomy. It would take you weeks to convince him to get any other color than black or gray. But added on with the new colors, were also new people. Exactly four men, who stood in the living, just as shocked as you were. "Oh, hi?" You said awkwardly with a wave. You saw the tall ginger wave to you with a smile. Greyson would come to your side, scratch the back of his neck nervously. "I-I should've explained this to you all before uh..uhm how do I put this..?"
With just that, everything clicked in your head. "I got this." You whispered to him as you patted his back. "It's nice to meet you four, I'm Y/n Iris, Greyson's younger sister." You told, seeing a wave of relief come to their faces. "I had a feeling you were his sister, he's told us about you before. It's nice to meet you Y/n, I'm Edd." The brunette with life-full chocolate brown eyes said. You would give him a smile as the tall ginger that waved to you, walked up to you with a confident smile. "Hello Y/n, I'm Matthew, but you can call me Matt!" He said with his freckled hand held out to you.
You took his hand, shaking it with a firm grip. "Okay Matt, don't break her hand for god's sake." The black-eyed brunette said, taking the attention of the both of you. "That's Tom. Don't listen to him, he's just a big brute." Matt huffed with a pout. Before Tom could add to that, the man with horned hair threw his arm over Tom's shoulders with a grin. "Matt isn't wrong, Jehovah tends to be a huge stick in the mud." The horned-haired man said with a cheeky smirk. "And you tend to blow up hous-" "Anyways, I'm Tord, it's nice to finally meet your acquaintance." Tord interrupted as Tom gave an annoyed huff, and shoved Tord off him.
"Oh please, I should be saying that. Grey never told me about any of you." You said, gently nudging the bashful Greyson in his side. Matt would let out an offended gasp. "Grey, how could? After everything!" He dramatically said. "It wasn't on purpose, just other things would be talked about. That reminds me to also say, they have been living with me for the past five years." He told. "Oh, that's okay. I can see these guys are a good influence on ya. Hell, you look you've been catching up on sleep, during those years." You chuckled patting his back to calm him down.
"Yeah, Grey is a crazy workaholic, almost barricaded him in his own room once," Edd said. "Oh please, when we get things running up again, a lot more of that is gonna happen, but I'm here to do my part." You said confidently with your hands upon your hips, before your stomach growled. "Well, after breakfast of course." You giggled, getting chuckles from the men around you. "Alright, I'll cook up something for all of us, while you all get to know one another, how does that sound?" Grey asked, having neither of them disagreeing. As Grey walked to the kitchen to make breakfast you and four men sat at the table to chat.
"So, why don't you start first Tom." You said, shocking the black-eyed man. "Uh, alright. Well, as they said before, I'm Tom. There's nothing much to me, but I play guitar, make a few songs, and teach others how to play for a living." Tom shrugged. "That's awesome actually. I only know basics of guitar, but everything about the violin." You said, remembering the days you were forced to play at recitals. "I've never been much of a fan of all the classical stuff. I always liked metal, or rock, like Autopsy or-" "Twisted Sister?" Tom asked. You gave him an excited grin.
"No way. You like that band too?" You asked in disbelief. "Of course man! Dee is my idol! I've been practicing We're Not Gonna Take It on my guitar for weeks." Tom said now in an excited tone. "Oh dude, you should totally let me hear you play." You said. "Got it." He said. You gave Tom a wink before turning to Edd with a smile. "Now, what about you Edd? What do you bring to the table?" You asked him.
"Well, not much. I'm kinda just a freelance artist. I draw things for people, at a fair price, and it pays well so there's that." He told as he rubbed his neck. "Don't sell yourself short Edd. Edd is more than a freelance artist, he also makes cartoons, even has a fan base thing too!" Matt told. "Ooooh, that's awesome! With my job, drawing is necessary but I was never able to get a hand on animating." You told, looking to Edd who had rosy cheeks. "Well, I can teach whenever you want. It's hard at first but after some time it comes easily." He said.
"I'll take your word for it. Now, Tord. What about you? Are you a pirate?" You asked, pointing to his eyepatch. "Oh ha ha, haven't heard that before. But if you must know, I'm a mechanic for cars, and on the side, I fix computers time from time, not too serious there." He told you. "No, actually that's cool. Grey actually thought of being a mechanic before taking business, but he still knows some things. While I'm scared of driving." You said with a bashful chuckle. "Scared of driving? How come?" He asked. "It's just the possibilities, but they aren't major. Still managed to get my license though." You smiled. Tord cracked you a smile with a nod.
"And lastly Matt, what about you?" You said. "Well, isn't obvious? A beautiful face like this can't be hidden from the world." Matt boasted, getting you to giggle. "I'm assuming you're an aspiring model?" You asked, see him nod eagerly. "Mhm! I managed to get a few gigs, here and there, but I want to be part of a company, but just gotta wait for the time." Matt said. "Now that you mention it, my career specializes in modeling, I can book you a few gigs with us if you want?" You said. "Oh, I'd love that! I'll just have to talk with my manager, and all. But, what you Y/n?" Matt said, giving you the attention.
"Yeah, where have you been for the last few years?" Tord asked. "Well, I've kinda been everywhere." You chuckled. "Traveling?" Edd asked. "Ehhhh not much of that more like-" "PANCAKES!" Greyson cheered as he held a tray of plates that all had pancakes with a side of eggs, bacon, two pieces of French toast. "Oh, alright, I'm starving," Tom said, rubbing his hands as he brought his plate with a dark cup of coffee, thanking Greyson once he got it. "This looks amazing, what did you do with my brother?" You asked as you took a brief sip of your orange sip.
"He's still here, just got better," Greyson said, sending you a wink. "And better is true," Edd said as he happily bit into a piece of bacon. "Thanks, guys, I'm set up the dishes, Tord, it's your turn this time," Greyson told, getting a nod from the man with his mouthful of his breakfast. "Ah man, home-cooked breakfast is just different." You said as you cut into your pancakes. "Yeah, nothing beats food from home, especially made by Grey!" Matt said, sipping his orange juice.
"Yeah, never like home."

After breakfast, Greyson helped bring your things upstairs to your old room. "Ah man, there's not even a speck of dust by this door, been cleaning while I was away?" You asked. "You can say that still the say as before that for sure. I'm just glad to have you back." Grey said. "I'm glad to be back." You said as you opened the door, entering the untouched room, seeing everything was in place just like you left it. "Damn, I forgot how edgy in art I was." You said, looking at the picture that hanged on the wall. "You're edgy in everything Y/n." Grey chuckled as he carried your things in as you placed your bag on your bed.
"Aye, this entire family is edgy. Got us to where we are today." You said, mocking your father's voice, which to your luck brought Greyson to laugh as he stretched. "Well, say in a few days we get everything back in place when you're all settled in with your newfound freedom," Greyson said as he stood tall with his arms crossed. "Oh, you know it. The old me is back and she ain't going anywhere. Mainly because you're my only ride." You said as you jumped back onto your bed.
"Damn right I am. It's best that you and I drive together for a bit, I don't want that prick coming down here looking you out, plus I know exactly what you'll spend your money on when you go and buy a car." Greyson huffed. "A motorcycle." You said in a daydreaming state. "A motorcycle." He groaned. "Just why dangerous things? Why..dangerous people..?" He sighed. You slowly sat up, with a pitiful look. "Don't tell me you blame yourself for what happened." You said.
Greyson wouldn't answer you, he only bowed his head down in regret, but that answer was loud and clear. "Oh, Grey." You said as you got up from your bed, quickly pulling him down to your embrace, him melting instant to soft sobs, as he trembled in your grasp. "I can never forgive myself for what he did to you.." You heard him whimper. "It wasn't in your control, I was across the world for goodness sake." You said, gently rubbing his back.
"I could've done something. I could've got a flight, and kill his sorry ass for laying his hands on you." He said, letting out a shaky breath. "Greyson, look at me." You said, bringing him to faces you, his eyes tears and cheeks, wet. Your hand cupped his cheeks, wiping away the tears as they fell. "You are, and forever will be the best older brother. What happened was out of your control and no way in hell your fault. You did everything an older brother could do. Never, put yourself down over this, because that I ain't going anywhere, I'm here to stay." You told him.
Greyson's eyes swelled with tears as he pulled you into his embrace once again. "Thank you..thank you.." He cried. You would smile and hug him back, rubbing his back. "Oh don't cry Grey, gonna make me cry too." You said, fighting a battle with your emotions. "That'll make me cry more." He chuckled, as he slowly pulled away, you follow along. He would wipe his tears and sniff back a few hiccups. "Okay, waterworks are done, and it's been a long time since I broke down like that." He said. "Dude, it's been a long time since we've done anything." You chuckled.
"Right there, your right there. Say, when you're all set why don't you come down and hang out with us, watch a movie, or something? Just something for us all to do together." He said. "Yeah, I'm up for anything, but let me make my emails and calls to Ally and the others. I know she wants to rip my head off when we meet." You said, remembering the short feisty woman who basically kept you in check. Greyson would shake his head and pat your shoulder, before walking to your door. "Alright, I'll leave you to it." He said. "Thanks, bro, see you in a bit." You said, opening one of your bags. "Hey, Y/n," Greyson said. You turned back to him with a confused look. "It's been too long." He said. A smile fought its way onto your face.
"It's been too long."
