3rd Person's POV
"Nothing crazy mister. Watch your hands."
Colby holds up his hands in surrender, "One dance Laney. Nothing crazy."
Laney bites the inside of her cheek as she slowly rests her hands on his shoulders.
"Flaws and all, I love 'em all, to me, you're perfect
Baby girl, you got it, girl, you got it, girl (Oh-oh)
You got it, girl, you got it, girl (Ooh)"
Laney's breath catches as she gasps in surprise. Colby lightly pulls her closer and wraps an arm around her waist as they sway to the music.
He sings lowly along with the song making Laney's cheeks redden.
"I don't wanna play no games, play no games
Fuck around, give you my last name (Oh)
Know you tired of the same damn thing
That's okay 'cause, baby, you."
Finally relaxing, feels Colby's hands rub her back lightly.
"You the only one I'm tryna make love to, pickin' and choosin'
They ain't really love you, runnin' games, usin'
All your stupid exes, they gon' call again
Tell 'em that a real man steppin' in."
Colby looks at Laney with an intense stare making her feel butterflies in her stomach. Out of all her past situations with guys, she could honestly say that this felt like a fast connection that some people would describe as love at first sight. Was Laney in love? No... but she could see Colby being in her life, and that scared her more than anything.
Seeing her face, Colby squeezes her waist lightly and shakes his head, "No thinking... just a dance."
Laney nods and let's out a sigh.
After another minute, the song ends and Colby moves away from Laney causing her to frown. He backs away slowly but freezes as Laney grips onto his hand pulling him back over to her.
"One dance that's all I asked for."
Laney stumbles over her words, "I know... But we can more if you want..."
Colby smiles mischievously, "I'm sorry Laney, I'm gonna need you to say those words."
Laney chuckles and rolls her eyes looking down. Colby puts his hand under her chin and raises her head so she looks into his eyes.
"C'mon..."
Laney sighs, "Colby, I would really like it if we kept dancing..."
Colby nods with a smirk, "All you had to do was ask."
Laney rolls her eyes once again and pulls him even closer so her arms are wrapped around his neck. Colby grips onto her waist making sure not to go any lower. Their foreheads rest against each other and they sway sensually as another song comes on.
"Honestly, I'm tryna stay focused
You must think I've got to be joking when I say
I don't think I can wait
I just need it now
Better swing my way
I just need some
I just need some love
Tired of fucking with these lames
Baby, I just need a thug
Won't you be my plug, ayy
You could be the one, ayy."
One of Laney's hand slowly moves to Colby's hair as she lightly grips his dark locks. Colby gulps as Laney starts to do the same thing he did, sing along with the song. Except more sensually.
"We could start with a handshake
Baby, I'ma need more than a hug
Girls can't never say they want it
Girls can't never say how
Girls can't never say they need it
Girls can't never say now.
Ayy, I need some lo-o-o-o-ove
Ayy, and you can't judge (I won't)"
By now the two had received half the rooms attention, but they were so in their own world that they didn't even notice. The two hadn't looked away from each other once.
"Besides, pleasure not meant for one side
You should just do what's best for your mind
How 'bout I just take my time?
You call up my line, I fall up inside you
Girls need love, too, I know."
As the song ends, the two stay in the close position. A fast song comes on as all the college kids start to jump around them. Laney giggles finally looking away from Colby who was still dead set on her and her only.
Biting her lip, Laney holds up one finger, "One date... that's it. If you screw it up than that's on you."
Colby raises an eyebrow, "Screw it up? Lane all I need is one chance to show you how all the guys before should have treated you. Out of the night that I've spent with you so far, I've come to the conclusion that you are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful person I have ever known...and even that is an understatement-"
"Did you just quote F. Scott Fitzgerald?" Laney smiles making her cheeks hurt.
Colby chuckles before turning serious once more, "Laney I've been unable to stop thinking about you since the moment I set my eyes on you in the Bronze. Give me a chance to love you and I promise I'll do my best to make you smile everyday."
Laney smirks as she looks him up and down, "Hmm... how long did it take you to memorize that little speech?"
Colby chuckles looking off to the side, "One hour... give or take. You're a tough nut to crack but you're worth it.
Laney shrugs, "True..."
Colby raises his hand to her face and moves a strand of her hair behind her ear, "I love how we're always on the same page."
...
In the library, Angel looks at the paper revealing the owner of the bracelet, a missing girl.
"She found the bracelet in the cemetery. Near the south wall."
Giles frowns, "South wall."
Willow stares at the window in fascination. Angel casts no reflection in it.
Giles turns to Willow, "What are you doing?"
"Oh! Sorry. The reflection thing that you don't have. Angel, how do you shave?" The men exchange a look making her smile sheepishly, "South wall. That's near the college and... the fraternity house!"
Giles frowns, "A fraternity?"
Willow nods nervously.
Angel shrugs, "Could they be taking these girls?"
Willow nods again.
"Let's get out there!"
Giles and Angel start to go.
Willow holds back, "Buffy!"
"We don't know that it's concrete. Uh, let's not disturb her until..."
Willow bites her lip, "Is there! With Cordelia and Laney. They went to a party at the Zeta Kappa house."
Giles freezes, "She lied to me?"
"Well..."
Angel crosses his arms over her chest, "Did... she have a date? She didn't have a date did she?"
"Well..."
Angel huffs.
Willow finally explodes, "Well, why do you think she went to that party? Because you gave her the brush-off!"
Willow points to Giles, "And you never let her do anything except work and patrol! And I know she's the Chosen One, but you're killing her with the pressure! I mean, she's sixteen going on forty! Laney always wants to help and you just put all the pressure on Buffy."
Willow then points to Angel, "And you! I mean, you're gonna live forever! You don't have time for a cup of coffee?!"
Angel and Giles are speechless.
Willow frowns, "Okay, I don't feel better now, and we've gotta help Buffy."
She hurries out of the library. Giles and Angel look at one another before following shortly behind.
...
Laney and Colby are sitting outside on the porch of the frat house as Richard and Tom walk out.
"The party is inside you two."
Colby nods smiling lightly at his older house brothers, "Yeah I think it's getting late. Laney is getting pretty tired."
Laney smiles lightly looking at Tom and Richard, "Sorry to be a party pooper. Have you guys seen Buffy and Cordelia around lately?"
Richard nods pointing to Tom, "We did actually. Cordelia said something about not letting girls go to the bathroom alone."
Laney laughs shaking her head, "Sounds like her. It's fine I can stay for a little bit longer."
Tom grins, "Great. Let us get you a drink."
Colby clears his throat holding Laney's hand, "She's fine guys."
Laney shrugs patting Colby's leg, "It's fine Colby. One drink won't hurt. I haven't had any all night."
"You sure?" Colby frowns.
Laney nods making Tom and Richard grin.
"Perfect."
"Be right back."
The two go back inside making Colby raise an eyebrow at how weird they were being. Never had they ever pushed someone to drink like they were tonight.
"Hey I don't want you to feel pressured by them. If you don't want to drink it's cool."
"I know. Thanks. Seriously it's just one drink. And you're with me... I'll be fine."
"You're staying in my sight. Got it?"
Laney sticks out her tongue at him, "Possessive already?"
Colby chuckles shaking his head, "The things you do to me already baby."
Tom and Richard make their presence known as they come back outside both holding a drink. Tom hands his glass to Laney as Richard hands his to Colby.
Colby stands up and helps Lane stand before letting out a curse.
"Guys we should do a toast. I think it'll be bad luck to have a new person in the house and not hold them to a traditional toast."
Richard winks at Colby, "Right you are brother. We'll be quick."
The two boys disappear once more inside the house making Colby roll his eyes.
"I forget why I want to be in a fraternity."
Laney giggles.
Colby grabs the glass from her hand and switches it with his.
"What's that for?"
"Just in case. And if there is anything wrong with this drink at least you can be my hot nurse."
"Who said I would help you?"
"You would."
Sticking out her tongue once more, Laney chuckles as the two boys come back outside.
"Alright a toast to new friends."
"To fun nights."
Colby grins looking over at Laney, "To a chance."
Laney looks down at her glass smiling, "To new beginnings."
...
"They've got to be around here somewhere..."
Laney and Colby had been walking around for almost ten minutes and there was no sign of Buffy or Cordelia anywhere.
Laney groans leaning against the wall, "I'm getting a headache and I gotta pee."
Colby frowns rubbing her arm while looking around the empty hall upstairs, "Alright you go to the bathroom and I'll run downstairs quickly. I'll look around the rooms and outside then be right back. You stay in the bathroom... understood?"
Laney nods holding her head.
"Laney you okay?"
Closing her eyes and opening them once again, Laney's eyes widen as she stares at a blurry Colby.
"I-I just need to pee and lay down."
Colby looks at Laney in concern before huffing, "Alright. I'll be right back."
Colby opens the bathroom door for Laney allowing her to walk inside. Giving her one last look, he quickly closes the door and runs downstairs looking for Laney's friends.
Inside the bathroom, Laney does her business then stands trying to get the room to stop spinning.
What the heck was happening to her?
Was she drugged?
Shaking her head she tries to think back to what she drank tonight. But her brain was hurting too much to think.
A light knock sounds the silent bathroom. Sighing in relief, Laney opens the door.
"Colby did you find them?"
Richard and Tom stand on the other side of the store staring down at Laney blankly.
"You're not Colby..."
"No but he says hi."
That's the last thing Laney hears as her world goes dark.
Yikes...
Colby and Laney... how do we feel? ๐
Willow makes me laugh she's too much!!
Did anybody else actually kinda trust Tom... only to be let down?
Any future predictions?
Special requests...
