ย ย IT WAS ANOTHER SATURDAY and you had decided to finally agree to another date with Jean. You finally had enough free time and thought that going on a date would clear you mind from school. To say Jean was excited was an understatement. He was ecstatic.
Walking around the supermarket with him made you feel a little awkward since he wouldn't let go of your hand. He was softly humming a tune to himself as he did his grocery shopping. Your eyebrows creased with concern as the groceries piled up inside the shopping cart.
"Don't you think you're going a bit overboard Jean? Are you doing some shopping for your parents or what?" You stopped in place causing Jean to come to an abrupt stop.
Your boyfriend shot you a confused look and raised his eyebrow. "For my parents?" He laughed softly, letting go of your hand and snaking his arm around your waist. "It's all for us silly."
"Who's cooking? Don't tell meโ" You frowned being cut off mid sentence by a peck on the cheek.
He then began walking once more, not letting you free from his arm around your waist as his eyes wandered around the supermarket. He tapped a finger against the handle of the cart while reciting his grocery list in his head.
Your shoulders sank in defeat. Sometimes you had forgotten how stubborn Jean could be. After all, that was a charm of his as he would say. You found him puzzling and unbelievable, you didn't know whether to call it a charm or just childish.
"Listen Y/N, I know how to whip up a good meal okay? I've inherited my mom's cooking skills." He finally freed your body and began loading the conveyor belt with the groceries. Then he reached into his pocket, pulling out a folded reusable bag. Well, at least he was eco-friendly.
Without wasting another second standing idly, you assisted him by handing him the groceries inside the little basket in front of the cart. You sighed and slowly shook your head "The last thing I'd want to hear is your fire alarm screeching. So I'll be keeping a close eye on you."
Jean took your hand after placing the last item down. The corners of his mouth lifted up into a small smile. "Trust me princess, I know how to cook." Upon seeing your head bob up and down his smile spread into a wide grin. "That's a good girl. See? You should put some faith into your boyfriend."
Over hearing your conversation, the female teenage cashier let out a soft giggle. Clearly someone was amused with the conversation between you and Jean, and that person was not you. You turned your head towards the girl and jutted your lower lip out into a small pout. Without realizing it, you were squeezing Jean's hand.
The girl quickly noticed and raised her hands up in defense. She waved her hands and let out a nervous laugh. "Oh! I wasn't trying to flirt with your boyfriend ma'am. I have a boyfriend and he acts similar to yours. They're a handful aren't they?"
Both Jean's eyebrows shot up as a small smirk played at his lips. He then turned to the cashier and leaned on the counter a bit. "See, I didn't know my girlfriend would get jealous like this. I apologize if she seemed scary." He threw his arm around your neck before fishing his wallet out of his back pocket.
"Listen kid, don't listen to what this idiot says." Your reddened cheeks betrayed your words. "I wasn't jealous at all, I don't know what got into me. You know it might be coming close to that time of the month again!" You concluded as you gently pounded your curled fingers onto the counter with a satisfied smile on your face.
"She's jealous." Jean whispered once more before handing his credit card over. The girl let out another giggle before returning the card and receipt to your boyfriend.
"To answer your question from earlier; this one is a handful! Sometimes I want to tape his mouth shut." You folded your arms over your chest.
Jean playfully rolled his eyes before pulling you away from the cashier who was clearly pleading for his interference. She then flashed him a smile of gratitude and moved onto the next customer who was an elderly woman.
The woman began complaining about how the customer in front of her took too long. The teenager could only apologize a countless number of times before the woman calmed down.
"So you want to tape my mouth shut?" Jean rubbed at his jaw with an amused expression on his face as he drove steadily towards the horizon. "Is that some sort of kink you have?" He questioned you with a teasing tone in his voice.
You lifted your gaze off your phone and snapped your head towards his direction. "Kink?" You echoed back in disbelief. You pinched the bridge of your nose and sank down in the passenger seat. "Must everything I say come off as indecent?"
"I'm just messing with you. It's all out of love Y/N. Just like when you scold me. I can tell it's out of love because your eyes shine through." He took one hand off the steering wheel and placed it on your lap.
"You're impossible, Jean." You exhaled quietly and turned your head back to the scenery on your side of the car.
Jean chuckled softly and rubbed small circles on your thigh. "Oh but that's not true. You just need time to get used to your amazing boyfriend."
As the sun spent its final moments sinking beyond the horizon, the sky's colors quickly shifted. From a fiery haze mixed in with the colors violet, orange, yellow, red, and blue to the deep color of ultramarine. Half your date was spent at the grocery store and having to deal with Jean's antics.
But you guessed that's what made him so lovable. His challenging personality.

"Ta-da!" Jean beamed with pride and joy as he showcased his work of art. A golden fluffy omelette over rice with ketchup drawn in the shape of a heart. He let both his hands rest on his hips and smiled confidently "My mom makes the best omelettes and she taught me how to make them too."
You stared down at the plate before you, the corner of your mouth shooting up to form a lopsided smile. "You even drew a heart with ketchup on top. I guess I can let you slide with this one."
He pulled a seat right next to you and picked up the metal spoon. Jean bummed a familiar tune as he placed a good balanced portion of rice and the omelette on the spoon. He lifted the spoon up to your lips and let out a soft "Say ah~" to get you to open your mouth.
"What am I? A child?" You sighed furrowing your eyebrows at him. The innocent smile he wore on his face was something you could not argue with. Instead of letting out a remark you complied and put your mouth over the spoon, slowly biting down and pulling the contents off the spoon.
Jean's smile only grew wider with satisfaction evident in his eyes. He leaned in closer to you, patiently waiting for a few words of praise or compliments from you. He turned your chair and trapped you in between his arms with eyebrows raised with anticipation.
You leaned back in your seat completely startled. You swallowed the food before exhaling quietly. "Was that necessary?" You questioned him with lips pressed into a tight line.
"How was it?" He ignored your question.
You hummed softly and tapped your index finger against your chin. "Ah," You finally gathered your thoughts and crossed your arms over your chest. "I guess it was okay." You replied nonchalantly shrugging your shoulders.
Jean narrowed his eyes at you, not believing a single word you said. "Okay?" He half-shouted with disbelief "You've got to be pulling my leg here, Y/N! Tell me it's amazing or I'm not letting you leave this seat."
"Gordon Ramsey would fucking yell at you for making something so bland." Your lips curved up into a small smirk as you teased your boyfriend who was not amused in the slightest bit. Upon seeing all the light wash away from his expression you decided to drop the act. "Fine." You tousled your fingers through his ash-brown locks before leaning back "It was amazing for an omelet. It exceeded my expectations."
His eyes immediately twinkled with excitement after hearing your compliment. Jean leaned back in his seat and used his thumb to wipe the ketchup off the corner of your mouth. "I knew you'd love it. It was made by yours truly!" He directed a finger at himself and wore a proud smile on his face.
"Yeah, yeah." A soft laugh escaped your lips in response to his words. You took the spoon from his hands and took another bite of the delicious omelette.
Jean removed the apron around his waist and threw it onto the floor before digging into his own meal. He hummed with satisfaction, chewing slowly in order to fully enjoy his favorite meal. Occasionally, you'd sneak glances in between bites and find yourself smiling at his cute reactions.
"Be careful Y/N, I can see you drooling from the corner of my eye."
You lifted your arm over the lower half of your face as a deep red hue flooded into your cheeks. You choked out a small "Huh?" Before quickly bringing your eyes back to your plate. "Oh please. Your reactions were just distracting me, how do you expect me not to look when you're making all that noise over there?"
"Honesty is the best policy. And you're not being honest with me, my dear." He chuckled as he wiped the corners of his mouth with a paper towel. "Now, if you're finished would you like to go to the library?"

ย ย The rest of your evening was spent inside the large library inside your boyfriend's house. At first everything was a bit overwhelming since it was far bigger than any of the libraries you've been to. Even the school library did not have ceilings this high with a glass pane roof.
You managed to pick out a couple of books and began reading right away. A velvet sofa was located in the middle of the room so that's where you sat. Jean shortly followed after you once he picked out a book for himself. He laid down next to you, resting his head on your lap.
You exhaled softly not even wanting to bother questioning him. You were too immersed into your own world and taking your attention off the book would just throw you out of that world.
The book was called 'Almond'. It was originally a book written in Korean but after gaining a lot of popularity it was translated to different languages. At least that's what one of the pages said. The most eye-catching part was the fact that the main character was a person who had a difficult time reading emotions.
Minutes turned into hours as the clock had finally struck nine. Without realizing it you had dozed off. It was most likely because of the warmth that you were feeling earlier. You opened your eyes to the sight of Jean's chest. Beneath your head was Jean's arm, he had placed it there to use as a cushion for your head.
You bit down on your lower lip and widened your eyes, looking up at Jean who was also sleeping. From the looks of it, he had managed to successfully move you without waking you up so you were lying down in a more comfortable position.
Your heart almost dropped when his eyes slightly opened. A tired smile curled upon his lips as he groggily said, "You woke up? Man, I enjoyed holding you like this."
A small hiccup escaped your parted lips as you furrowed your eyebrows. "My soul nearly slipped out of my body when I woke up in this position."
"Why?" He chuckled, running his fingers through your strands of hair. "It's not like it's the first time I've held you like this."
A pinkish color cascaded over your cheeks as you recalled a memory from the night you shared a bed with him in your own apartment. You snapped yourself out of that trance before slightly shuffling in his arms. He firmly moved his arm down and wrapped it around your waist.
Without any given warning he suddenly flipped you from your side to your back, letting his figure hover over yours. A devilish smile tugged at his lips. You were taken aback by his sudden unexpected movement. The colors in your cheeks only grew darker.
Trapped between his arms you couldn't just roll off the sofa. Your eyes were widened in pure shock. "Jean Kirstein, what do you think you're doing?" You sputtered out the words feeling flustered.
"Oh relax princess. I just want to look at your face from here. Plus, I think it's cute when you get all flustered like this." He laughed quietly before stealing a kiss from your lips, which were zipped into a straight line.
"Uh-huh." You rolled your eyes before turning the tables. This time you were on top of him. You had to admit, you were surprised with how you managed to flip him over so easily. "Why don't you get a taste of your own medicine then huh?" You huffed out.
"That was attractive as fuck." Jean breathed out with a look of bewilderment on his face. Eyebrows raised with shock. His comment didn't help your heart settle in the cavern of your chest, in fact it was running wild at this point. "Where'd you learn how to do that?"
"Self-defense classes you weirdo." You muttered softly feeling defeated. You let yourself sit back on his lap. It didn't occur to you that you were basically straddling your boyfriend, which was probably not appropriate. It completely went over your head.
This time Jean was flustered. His cheeks grew warm as the color red sank into his cheeks. He propped himself up with his elbows and raised an eyebrow waiting for you to finally realize.
"What now?" You sighed.
"So you didn't even realize that you've been straddling me for the last three minutes?" Jean's face cracked into a smile as he bit down on his tongue to suppress the laughter traveling up his throat. "I didn't know you were that bold Y/N. Because lord have mercy, you're about to make me act up."
"Shit.." You breath got caught in your throat. Your jaw dropped as realization finally hit you. You looked between your legs and immediately rolled off of his legs, tumbling onto the floor. A loud thud echoed through the vast library as you landed hard on your back.
Jean shot out of his seat and kneeled down next to you. "Shit Y/N are you okay? You didn't need to throw yourself off of me like that. I know you didn't mean to position yourself like that but you're going to end up getting a concussion if you do that again."
You winced in pain as tears pricked at the edge of your eyes. That hurt like hell. "If a concussion would help me forget what just happened, I'd do it again." You groaned with embarrassment, palming your forehead.
Jean lifted your hand off your forehead and dipped his head down, gently pressing his lips against your forehead. "I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen again because that looked like it really hurt." He creased his forehead with concern evident in his brown irises.
"But I did find it hot." He finished off his thoughts.
You sat up quickly and gently punched his shoulder "Jean!" You hissed with a small frown on your face.
"Alright, alright!" He threw his arms around your neck and drew you in for a soft embrace. "God, I love you so much."
You rested your chin on his shoulder and exhaled quietly. "I love you too."
