the mandalorian x daughter figure! reader

as you may have already guessed, this is going to be sad, and it's also set in chapter 16, so spoiler alert.

warnings:

Fear.

There were no other words to better describe what you were feeling at that agonizing moments such as fear.

Fear of never being found by Mando again, fear that, this time, he wasn't coming to save you, fear that Grogu could be harmed, that Mando could suffer, that Cara could be hurt, fear that the Empire would do things that you didn't dare imagine with Grogu, the baby that since you first saw him, you swore to protect, a baby that had the same powers as you, that you hid until the day Mando and the IG unit showed up, and your life changed forever.

There you were, laying on a cold metal bed, your handcuffs so tight that your wrists would bleed, stormtroopers surrounding you, and an evil looking man whose name you've heard thousands of times.

Moff Gideon.

He looked down at you in with a villainous smirk, eyeing you as if you were the prize he had finally took possession of.

"Do it." He said coldly

In your current state, you didn't knew what he was talking about, but as soon as the lifeless-looking, white-armored figure started approaching you, something snapped, like a jolt of electricity that ran trough your entire body, giving you strength, you started remembering the good memories, the ones that you would lose if you gave up, the ones that you still had to protect, and this thoughts lead to one thing.

You had to fight.

As if it was on reflex, your hand went up, throwing the stormtrooper at the wall, knocking him out cold. The other one came fast towards you, but you balled your fist, lifting him on the air and pushing him on the ceiling, making it drop immovable on the floor.

As you turned around to look for Gideon, he was already gone. All the energy that was sent to you on that moment seemed to be drained out of your body, making you pass out in exhaustion.

While you were slowly opening your eyes, you sensed three lives, one of them in which you were afraid of, one that you despised. For the other two, one of them was the life you knew for longer that you remember, the life that you swore to protect since you've first met.

Grogu. And he was safe.

The other one, was a life that you cared deeply for, a life that you loved, a life that you saw as the father you never had, the one that protected you, the one that saw you as his daughter.

Mando.

When you opened your eyes, you saw him, you saw Grogu and, unfortunately, Moff Gideon, that held a sort of dark laser sword.

"Drop the blaster." Gideon said pointing the sword at the both of you, when Mando started approaching.

"Slowly." He demanded, Mando did so.

"Now kick it over to me." And Mando, again, did as he asked.

"Very good." He said coldly.

"Give me the kids." Mando demanded, speaking up.

"The kids are just fine were they are" He said, while hovering the dark saber above the both of you, and Grogu let out a coo of fear.

time skip for when you are at the control room (i'm sorry, it's kinda rushed :/)

A lot of dueling later, you, Cara, Mando, Bo-Katan, Koska, Axe, Fennec, Grogu and a handcuffed Moff Gideon were in the control room.

Even with the doors sealed, the strong and terrifying banging from the darktroopers could still be heard, and the door didn't seem to be going to hold on for much longer too. With all of this situation going on, the feeling of moments before came back flooding your thoughts, almost drowning you.

Fear.

It came back.

Grogu and Mando seemed to notice it, but as Grogu was closer to you, he brought one of his tiny hands to your knee that was huddled against your chest, and a wave of comfort hit you, a sense of a foolish hope, that everything would work out, despite being a foolish, even an unreal sense o hope, something still told you to believe it.

Your thought were interrupted by the sound of a ship.

"An X-Wing, great, we're saved!" Cara said sarcastically.

"Incoming ship, identify yourself." Koska said to the communicator, but received no response.

As the ship entered the ship, you noticed that the banging noises started slowing down, and eventually coming to a stop.

You started feeling something that you haven't felt since the day you've met Grogu, and the day you've met Ahsoka. The feeling of small sparks in the back of your head brought you to a realization.

The Jedi was here.

You shot up from your position, and came where the security cameras could be watched, you saw a hooded figure holding a metal cylinder with a beaming light coming out of it, slashing the darktroopers with an unbelievable easiness, and sending some of them flying trough the force, smashing them against the walls, completely destroying them.

After watching as the camera was blown up by a blaster shot caused by a darktrooper, you turned to Moff Gideon, who seemed terrified.

Your tired state couldn't notice him sneaking his hand to get a blaster nearby, but the sound of a blaster shot colliding against metal rang trough the room made all of you turn your heads to the scene.

He shot Koska, and moved the blaster to the bottom of his chin, preparing to kill himself, when Cara knocked his blaster to the floor, and afterwards knocking him out.

"Open the doors." Mando said, knowing that both you and Grogu had sensed him, and also trying to accept what was going to happen in the next few moments.

He would have to say goodbye.

The team opened the doors and and figure wearing a dark cloak came trough the doors, stopping and removing his hood, revealing himself as a man in his late 20s or early 30s with dirty blond hair and blue eyes.

"Are you a jedi?" Mando asked.

"Yes, and I've came for two lifeforms that I sensed trough their contact on the planet Thyton" the dirty blond said.

"I shall train them, I also vow to protect them with my life." He continued.

"But I can't completely guarantee their safety" He concluded.

Mando turned and walked over to where you and Grogu were at, and picking the little green baby up and placing his hand on your back, motioning you to get up and follow him.

"'Guess it's time to say goodbye, huh?" He said sadly, and tears started streaming down your cheeks, you knew you had to leave him, but you weren't ready to do it, you saw him as your father, your guardian, the one person that loved and cared about you more than anyone ever did in your whole life.

Grogu approached his tiny hand to the edge of his helmet, and surprisingly, Mando took your hand and placed it together with his and Grogu's one. He started lifting his helmet, your hands following his movements, exposing his face to you.

You could see that he was trying his best to be strong, that was one of the thousands of things that you deeply admired in him.

He turned to you, pulling you both closer to him, embracing you in a tight hug, not letting go, as a final goodbye.

As you pulled away, he nodded to you to follow the jedi, and you hesitantly did so.

The jedi placed a comforting hand on your back, and started walking towards the elevator.

You took a final glance back, and saw Mando, with teary eyes, trying desperately not to cry.

And there it was.

The time to say goodbye.
