Beatrice Liddell's POV

Beatrice was always the left-out one in the Wonderlandian group, whether it was then or now. In their childhood, Bea couldn't visit Wonderland as much as the others, because she would only ever be the side character in their legacies. No one remembers Alice's Sister, the normal one. It made her feel pathetic, like she was less than.

No, Bea wouldn't let herself be weak-willed.

She wanted power, she craved it. It was the only thing that kept her going as her resentment for Wonderland grew. It was like a blackened iron fist that gripped Bea's heart, consuming every thought of her. She wouldn't go along with her legacy so easily, she needed to forge a more powerful path for herself.

But then there was Claudia Hatter, who bewitched everyone, Bea included. They were so in love that Claudia briefly made Bea forget her simmering and secret hatred. When they kiss, it felt like Bea was floating in her own world. She let down her walls around her, and together, they were everything for each other. Love was power, but it was also destruction. They would watch the waves below the Forever Bridge and Claudia would smile at Bea.

"Are we forever?"

"Of course, Claude."

Lies upon lies.

Bea knew that she was softer around Claudia, but she was also weaker then. Bea had to eliminate all weaknesses, it would only interfere with her plan. So she killed Claudia, giving her the drugged drink to fall down the Forever Bridge's depths. Claudia had been seeing visions lately, she told Bea once, about her downfall. Bea took that as a warning that Claudia was a slippery slope, and she had to be finished once and for all.

Cressida Lockes was just as sly, Bea got worried that the girl would figure out her ruse. So Bea stole Carmelo's key to the greenhouse and took the Deadly Nightshade berries, poisoning Cressida slowly. Then she framed Carmelo and Jace for it, they were the likeliest to be arrested. Bea's plan came into action, and it worked like a charm.

Bea, however, hadn't planned Hadie's murder at all. The clever Hadie had discovered Beatrice's ploy, and would have snitched to either Normandy or the others the first second she had. Bea slipped away, holding nothing but a baseball bat, and beat Hadie until blood was spilled. It wasn't easy killing another Wonderlandian friend, but Bea had to do it. "Bea, please, please," Hadie gasped out in her final seconds. "If you have any mercy left, you'd... y-you would let me live."

Mercy was for the lesser.

Ruby and Alex... Bea really did root for themโ€”if Ruby got past her shit and Alex got past his affection for Claudia, then maybe it could have worked. But fuck Ruby Red and Claudia's stupid Old Riddlish Dictionary.

In Old Riddlish, a companion is used to describe not a friend or acquaintance, but rather a lover. Hence the noun companion is loosely translated to a spouse. God, if only Ruby just minded her business and stayed away.

Bea met her in the forest, pulled up her gun and shot Ruby in cold blood. But Alex had followed Ruby, and was horrified to find Bea as the Companion. "Y-You killed her! You... You are the Companion, a murderer!" Poor Alex Liddell, the boy who sought Claudia's love, but didn't get it. Bea always knew that he had a silly crush on herโ€”and she didn't care for it, Claudia was lesbian and it changed nothing between the Liddell cousinsโ€”but it caused him to become madly interested in her murder case. He should have dropped it, perhaps moved on.

It was easier to kill Claudia, but Beatrice resisted when the idea of murdering Alex crossed her mind. Alex was Bea's cousin, you couldn't hurt your family, could you?

"I love you, but you just got in the way. I'm sorry, Lexi. "

She pulled the trigger, the bullet flying to the back of his head.

Cadien Cheshire's POV

Cadien stayed invisible as he watched Bea emerge from the shadows, a gun in her hand. The weapon was pointed at Adelaide, who stood alongside the Weaver boy that Bianca told Cadien about. The Companion was Bea, he thought grimly. They didn't know he was there, Cadien would have to use that to his advantage. Bea jerked the gun towards Rhys, glaring. "Who's he?"

"They call me the Weaver," he spat back, defiant.

"This is between us, Beatrice," Adelaide told her, her eyes darting slighting to where Cadien was. Even if he was invisible, she somehow had super-sonic hearing to hear his breathing. Good thing that Bea didn't. "Why did you kill them? They... They were your friends and family!" Adelaide was stalling to buy them more time.

"Claudia weakened me, she would have made me stray from my desired path. I... I needed to focus on my goals. She stopped me and started having visions of me killing her," Bea said, her gaze flickering like she was dazed. "No, it wouldn't work. Now, get away from the Well of Wonders and give me your map."

The Weaver glared. "What's your little plan with the Well?"

Bea pointed the glock at him, scoffing. "Shut up, some things deserve to stay dead."

Adelaide's eyes lit up with horror. "You're trying to destroy Wonderland, aren't you? You want to ruin the Well of Wonders, that's why you had to kill Claudiaโ€”she was the Mad Hatter and would have stopped you. Cressida's research would have exposed your plans, Hadie must have figured it out, Ruby and Alex were collateral damage. Bea, no, this isn't right!"

Cadien's eyes darted to the corner of trees where Bea couldn't see. They had to do it right or they'd never get the perfect chance again. Cadien moved along Bea, who hadn't realized he was invisible and watching them keenly.

"Wonderland doesn't deserve anything, it's the source of my despair," Beatrice roared, her hand tightening around the trigger. She shifted the gun's line of target from the Weaver to Adelaide's chest. "If it's anything worth to you, I did appreciate your quick wit, Addie." She pulled the trigger as Cadien reappeared behind Bea, a Cheshire grin plastered on his face.

"Now!"

Adelaide dropped to the ground while Tilly smashed a baseball bat at Bea. Bullets went off as the gun went flying to the grass. "Shitโ€”grab ahold of her!" the Weaver yelled as Normandy tackled Bea, fists engaged while Bianca rushed over to Adelaide and the Weaver. AJ came running onto the scene with Tilly by his side, a phone in his hand.

"Detective Benson and Pois are on their way," he shouted.

Bea easily overtook Normandy, plummeting her fist into her jaw and rolled over to her side to grab the gun. Cadien could barely breathe before three shots went off; one of them went through Normandy's neck while the other took out Weaver's leg. They immediately both collapsed as Bianca screamed, startled.

"Take her gun!" Adelaide hollered in the distance, near the Well.

Cadien lunged forward, pinning her arms while the gun was locked around her hand. Bea struggled against his grip, but she shifted her body weight and managed to kick his legs, sending both of them tumbling to the ground. They thrashed while Cadien heard Tilly's choked sobs, the younger Hatter sister was bent over Normandy's body, trying to save her.

"You silly kitty," Bea rasped out, her gun pointed at Cadien. They fought against each other, one of Bea's hands clamped over his throat while the other held the glock. Cadien couldn't breathe, his head light as a feather. No, you can't die now, Cadien! "You can't stop me."

Just before she managed to pull the trigger, the baseball slammed into the side of Beatrice's head. Cadien was freed, gasping for air. "You are outnumbered, Beatrice, it's five against one," Adelaide said, panting heavily while grasping the bat. Bea's nose was bleeding as she staggered to her feet. "Surrender now, and we'll hand you over to Benson and Pois peacefully."

Bea let out a manic laugh. "Oh, but I doubt any of this will be peaceful."

Then Cadien heard a sharp, strange sound. "Bullets! Everyone, get down!" They all dropped to the grass, the whining noises of bullets flying through the air while triggers were pulled. Ringing echoed in his ears as Cadien's head lifted up once the bullets stopped. His voice hitched, stunned.

Next to Bea stood Erzulie Facilier, holding up double smoking revolvers. "You have your backup, and I have mine," Beatrice said simply.

Matilda Hatter's POV

She held Normandy in her arms, horrified and shaky. "Oh my Grimm. Okay, okay, this is fine, we'll survive this," Tilly whispered, applying pressure to Normandy's wound, blood dripped from Tilly's hands. "You're not dying, n-no one else is dying, this is it." She knew that Normandy never liked her much, but God...

Matilda didn't see Normandy's face, she saw Claudia's.

Normandy's eyes were lidded, her breathing laboured. "Are... Are we winning?" she asked weakly, little life left in her. Tilly tossed a glance over her shoulder, seeing Zulie duelling with AJ, guns drawn while he tried to make his way towards the others. "Fuck, we're all going to die."

"No!" Tilly roared, losing control briefly. "We're not going to."

"Let me die. For Grimm's sake, let me die, Matilda! Go, help Adelaide with Bea." Then her eyes softened, because Normandy must have realized she was talking to an insanely scared child. "Death isn't scary; I'm the butterfly now. Just go, Tilly." Normandy's head lolled to the side, blood dripping from the corners of her mouth. She was gone as Tilly sucked in a quivering breath.

I'm the butterfly now.

Tilly sprang to her feet, tackling Zulie as her thoughts consumed her. "You fucking traitor! You said you admired my sister, and now you're helping her murderer!" Tilly screamed, plummeting her fists into Zulie's face. Blood was spilled on her hands as Zulie's body went limp, unconscious and out of trouble. Still, Tilly couldn't stop hitting her, shuddering and her chest heaving. You helped kill my sister, you lied to our faces, Zulie.

"Good Godmothers, Tilly, stop!" AJ grabbed Tilly off of Zulie, nudging her ribs. "Remember that Bea's our main target." He grabbed Zulie's guns, tossing one to Tilly. They moved along the grass quietly, the night covering their tracks. "Look, there's Bianca and the Weaver guy!" They rushed over, peering down on them.

"Just sit still, Rhys," Bianca said while blood poured out of his leg. "Don't move."

"The paramedics are on their way too," AJ advised.

"Where's Jace?" Tilly asked worriedly. "Oh my God, where is Jace?

"He's back at EAH and alive. We didn't ask him to come, he's trying to find a way to bail out Carmelo. Plus, if things went south... Well, at least one of us survives to snitch on Bea," Rhys said, trying to lift his leg, wincing. He sighed at everyone else's puzzled expressions. "When Adelaide and I were going to the Well of Wonders, she didn't want to involve you all. Said that it was too heartbreaking to think if you guys got hurt. But I went behind her back and told Bianca to prepare you as backup."

Bianca glanced around, suspicious. "Wait, where did Adelaide, Cadien, and Bea go?"

Rhys' face paled. "Shitโ€”the Well of Wonders never stays in one place for long, it must have moved. The last we saw of the three were when they were attacking each other near the Well." He looked around, grimacing. "The Well must have taken them to a new location."

AJ's eyes widened. "What if... What if they fell into the Well?"

A/N: So it all goes to shit... I enjoyed all of your theories by the way, many of them were half-right, but I don't really think anyone guessed it was Beatrice before the Chapter Eleven. This apply fic ends for real after the next chapter & the epilogue.
