Chapter 4

It was now January 5th, four more days till I return back home. If only these four days lasted a minute each.

I've been avoiding my parents since the fight, it wasn't that hard considering the fact they were never really home, always having an excuse to be out.

I didn't mind it though, I liked being home alone, it was peaceful. I started baking more, trying new recipes to do once I get back home. I was trying this new rice krispie with oreo treat before dinner (home alone of course) when I heard a knock on my front door.

"I'm coming I'm coming, hold on!" I yelled as I wiped my sticky hands on a dishcloth.

Opening the front door, I saw Louis holding a pie in his hands, a sweatshirt on with a puffer jacket over it. It was freezing.

"Louis? Oh-uh come in, what are you doing here?" I asked, opening the door wider.

He handed me the pie as he blew into his hands and rubbed them together.

"My mum baked an apple pie and I wanted to come over and give you some. I texted you but you didn't reply." We had walked into my kitchen, I placed the pie on top of stove and glanced at my phone that was sitting on the island.

"Oh yeah sorry about that, I've been busy." That's when he took in my flour stuffed apron, messy bun and the dirty pans on the counters.

He looked at me then walked towards the treats. "Whatcha making?" He took a piece of the rice krispie and bit into it. I watched him as his eyes opened in surprise and he nodded his head.

"Now that- that is good, we're definitely making some of that when we get back home." He said taking another piece.

I smiled at him and went to his side, "Yeah sure I wouldn't mind."

He turned to me, "Are your parents home, are you busy?" He asked.

"My parents are out again, the boys have another tournament so they won't be home till much later, and well no not really, I'm just baking that's all." I replied pointing towards the dirty dishes in the sink.

He grinned, "Let's go out yeah? I have an hour or so until I need to be back home for dinner. We can go skate around."

I looked at him, "Um okay yeah, let me wash the dishes and change first, you can go turn on the tv and wait." I said trying to unknot my apron, but having slight trouble.

Louis then got up from his seat, making his way to my back. His cold hands touching my bare neck as he untied it for me. I felt his breath on me, creating goosebumps.

"I can wash the dishes darling, go change, and dress warm it's quite cold outside." He said.

I hesitated, "But I'm not being a good host if I let you wash the dishes-"

"No, no I insist now go hurry." He pushed me towards the hallway that leads up the stairs.

When I had finally chose an outfit warm enough for the weather outside, I found Louis munching on some more of the rice krispie. When he took notice of me in the hallway walking towards him, he turned to me, his face looking like a deer caught in headlights.

"Seriously Lou? I was gonna pack some up for you and your sisters, but you're gonna eat it all before I have the chance." I pushed him away from the pan, putting it into the fridge.

"Yeah well you like me more, so I deserve it." He replied back, puffing out his chest.

I turned to him and laughed, "Who said I liked you more?"

He dove to tackle me, but I avoided it by hurrying into the garage where my skateboards were.

"You don't mind borrowing my brothers do you? Or I can ride my longboard and you can use my skateboard?" I asked, pulling down the boards from the top shelf.

He walked into the garage, "You get nervous on the skateboard so let me have it." I shook my head at him for the false accusation.

"And don't even deny it, I always see your knees shaking whenever you skated on your board, but never on your longboard." He grabbed my skateboard from my hands and opened the garage.

"Let's go shall we?" He set the board down next to mine on the street, reaching for my hand.

I looked at him and smiled, "We shall"

Louis and I dove in and out of neighborhoods, not wanting to go into busy streets since the sidewalks were so narrow.

The sky was painted with a beautiful mix of orange-yellow, pink and blue. It was only 5 pm, but the sun was starting to set. Louis held my hand the whole time, leading my board and I. He would tease me by pretending to let go of my hand which made me nervous, but would hold on tighter when he saw my breath hitch.

We laughed and smiled as the wind blew through our hair. The sun shining the last of it on our faces.

I saw a small park when we came to the edge of a hill, squeezing Louis's hand, I pointed to it. He took notice and pulled me beside him.

Louis sat on the grass first leaning on his hands behind him, signaled for me to sit down.

I placed the board in front of us as I sat inches away from his body, crossing my legs. I felt him laugh beside me, then placed his arm around my waist, pulling my body close to his I was leaning on his chest.

We stayed like that for a while, I was listening to his steady heartbeat as the faint noises of the cars around us were tuned out. We were looking up at the sky as the sun started to fully set.

"Are you cold?" He whispered, then laying down on the ground, bringing myself down with him.

"No" I replied back.

He had his arm around my shoulder, playing with my hair, as the other played with my bracelets on my wrist.

"Are you excited to go back?" I asked, looking up towards the sky that was turning into a shade of dark blue.

"I am, but I'll miss my family of course, and my friends." He answered.

I turned my head a bit, "Is your family not coming back with us again?"

He sighed, "No, they can't, Millie and Issie's terms are starting again and my mum and dad don't want them missing it. I understand though, I have you at least." That made my heart warm.

"How about your friends?" I questioned.

"I mean I'll miss them too, I've been hanging out with them lately, since you never want to go out with me." He teased.

I gasped, "Um no it's because you always ask late stupid." I said nudging his shoulder.

He laughed as he held on tighter.

"There's nothing going on with Aubrey and I, Ami. I swear." I felt his head turn to me, but I didn't want to face him.

I stiffened, "I know."

"Well I know you know, but I just don't want you getting the wrong picture." He sat up as he turned to me, still laying on the ground. "Aubrey has been trying to talk to me, but my friends always jump in, never giving her a chance, thank god for them." He rambled.

"Mhmm I get you Louis, you don't have to explain."

"But I want to." Was the only thing he could say.

"Well why did you break up with her?" I asked lowly.

He sighed then looked at the sky above us. "Well she was getting quite annoying after the auditions. She forced me to do it, and then the results came and I got the part and she didn't. She was upset. And um well she was saying some mean things about you, which I never ever believed by the way." He pointed out. "And just everything after the announcement, she was just exposing more and more of our relationship. She wanted me to take her out on dates, hold my hand more, even kiss her more. I was getting uncomfortable. I think the last straw was when I realized she was going to use me you know? I lost feelings for her right then and there. I mean they were slowly fading, but that was when I realized." He bit his bottom lip as he finished.

I nodded my head at him.

"Sorry, let's not talk about her anymore yeah?" He scratched his head.

I nodded again.

He laid back down next to me, sliding his arm around my shoulders. I felt his breathing beside me as my thoughts wandered.

Should I ask about the kiss?

Should I ask what were are now?

Are we friends? More than friends?

The thoughts ruled my mind till he spoke again.

"Should we talk about it now?" He whispered.

"Talk about what?" I don't even know why I'm asking, I already know what.

He took a deep breath, "The kiss."

Was he reading my mind?

"Um yeah I think we should yeah?" I sat up now, combing through my tangled hair.

He sat up, sitting across from me, his legs crossed and his hands laying on my knees.

"Well it's obvious we both like each other, I mean we said it on New Years." He blurted out.

I laughed at his straight forward ness.

"I-uh well yeah, that's pretty obvious." I cleared my throat.

We stayed quiet, unsure of how to continue this very awkward conversation.

Louis coughed, catching my attention. "Well I know your last relationship wasn't an easy one, and I'll understand if you don't want to date. I mean you even told me you don't date. I'm saying I understand if you wouldn't want to date at all." Louis unraveled, worry taking over.

I shushed him, "Louis, yes my last relationship was hard, but I know you wouldn't treat me like he did. Hell you even beat him up for me" He laughed at that. "But I hope you understand me when I say I want to take things slow. I mean we're going to be busy the next couple months. We have press, the premiere, might even have some award shows. Let's just...take things slow yeah?" I said, not really making eye contact with him.

"I understand, I definitely do, but we can still go on dates yeah?" He questioned.

I nodded.

"Great, we'll take things slow." And then we laid back down on the somewhat dewy grass.

Shit what does take things slow mean?

Are we officially dating? Or are we just going on dates as friends?

Is it too awkward to ask now? No, no I'll probably ruin the moment.

Those thoughts took over my head as the sun became darker.

Louis then stood up, dusting his knees, "Get up M'lady, we got to get you home." He took his hand out, which I grabbed, pulling me up.

We took a short cut towards my house, diving in and out of familiar neighborhoods. Luckily when we skated into my driveway, my parents car wasn't home, meaning they're still out, meaning I wasn't in trouble.

Louis helped me put our boards back, placing them on the top shelf since I wasn't able to do it myself. I packed him and his sisters some of the rice Krispies while he washed his hands in the bathroom.

I handed him a bag as he walked into the room looking at his phone, "I should get going, my mom wants me back for dinner."

"Ok" I replied as we walked towards my front door.

We stood facing each other, I bounced on my heels, looking down as he laughed at me.

"You're so cute." He pinched my cheeks and smiled at me. I blushed as I looked away, flattered by the compliment.

I looked back at him, his eyes who seem to always be looking into mine. We leaned in, only for him to get a message on his phone, pulling our faces back.

He glanced at it and put it away. I opened the door to where we walked out into the cold, chilly air. "I'll get going now, let me know when your parents arrive home."

I bobbed my head. Then he quickly kissed my lips and walked away leaving me breathless.

"You're going to be my girlfriend soon Azami Navarro! Soon." He yelled out as he got onto the sidewalk.

"Soon" I whispered, closing the front door behind me.

Releasing a breath, I did a little dancy dance (💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻), giddiness running through my body.

Holy shit he's going to ask me out.

Fuck when will that be?

Are we talking?

What is this between us?

I cleaned the kitchen to distract me from my burning thoughts, when I heard a ping from my phone.

Running to it, I unlocked the screen. A smile pinned on my face as I see a familiar name pop up.
