CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
I WAS WORRIED ABOUT YOU
Kea practically bounced out of bed and into the shower.
Today she had actually felt motivated to get out of bed and do her daily routines.
She got dressed into white body suit with a pair of baggy ripped jeans, a black flannel and white docs.
She tied her hair into two big puffs before packing a few things into a bag.
Then she started to pace around the room. She was actually going to do it. She was actually going to tell Josh how she felt about him.
Keabetswe didn't even understand where the sudden confidence came from but she didn't care, she had to get what was on her chest...well off of it.
After a few days of planning exactly what she was going to say but now was the time.
She wasn't feeling hungry so she got straight to work and by the time she had finished cleaning up her apartment lunch time was approaching so she got the bag she packed, her mask and her keys before walking out the door and locking it.
Kea sat in her car in the drive thru of McDonalds, after paying for the milkshakes and fries and every now and then she'd step on the accelerator to drive foreword as people got their food.
She took out her phone and began to look through the things that she had been tagged in. Most things has been edits that her fans had made but there were two posts in particular that her fans had tagged her.
They both had links to articles. She chose one post, copy and pasted the link in Google and began to read.
JOSHUA BASSETT WAS NOT JOKING
The article written by GQ had been released earlier today and Kea's eyes trailed over the words as she scrolled down.
Her lips upturned into a smile as she read the interview. She was really proud of him, part of her wishes that he had told her but she knew first hand how hard situations like this could be.
As she finished the article part of her felt a little lighter. She was happy for him, he got the one thing that she wished she had the opportunity to do do five years ago.
He was certainly much braver than she was, even though he blurted it in an interview. He was still much braver than she was because she knew how terrifying coming out could be.
She drove a little further before stopping again to wait again. She left the page of the article and went to the second post.
This one made her face drop and her heart beat faster.
"What the hell?"
This wasn't something that she expected to find out from Entertainment Weekly or something that Joshua would lie to her about.
After going to Taco Bell, Kea drove to his apartment with a different objective in mind than originally.
At first she was feeling all light and bubbly but now she was on the verge of tears. She was really proud of him but also terrified of what she had just read.
She parked her car in the guest parking before getting out her car and opening her boot (trunk). She put their food in the basket she had prepared and left in the car yesterday and fixed the decorations and made sure everything sat properly.
She noticed the small card under the confetti and smiled a bit before taking the basket, bag and closing the boot.
Kea locked her car before walking towards the stairs. She repeatedly reassured herself as she walked up the stairs.
With every step she took the grip on the basket became tighter until she reached his door, she moved the basket to her left hand and winced when she saw how red her hands were.
She cleared her throat and turned the nervous frown into and excited smile before forming a fist with her right hand and knocked on the door three times.
She stretched her fingers as the faint sound of guitar strings stopped and footsteps approached the door.
Joshua opened the door and a smile instantly appeared onto his face. "Kea he-hey. What are you doing? I didn't miss any of our plans, did I?"
"Oh no, you didn't miss anything. I just thought it would be cool to surprise you with some of our favorites." Kea assured before holding up the decorated basket with take-out.
"Great. Uh come in, come in." Josh stammered before moving to the side to let the girl in.
She walked in and went straight towards to the kitchen and placed the basket on the marbled island.
"You bought taco's, you are an absolute godsend." He exclaimed as he joined her after locking his door making the woman smile sheepishly.
After serving the two found themselves sitting on the living room carpet laughing amongst themselves.
From the moment the girl read the articles, her entire objective shifted and now she didn't know if she was going to tell him anything. As she started to think about said article a small frown formed on her face and before she could switch back to a more happy look Josh noticed.
"Kea? What's wrong?" The boy asked making her return to reality with a fake smile.
"Nothing everything is fine." She responded quickly.
"Hey." He tilted her chin up. "What's. Wrong?"
The girls lip quivered as tears formed in her eyes and before she knew it she was crying.
Questions were running through Joshua's mind. Had he done something wrong? Did he say something wrong?
He used both his thumbs to wipe away her tears. "Did I do something? I'm so sorry if I did."
"No you didn't do anything. I ummm read the article."
He moved his hands from her face away with a frown on his face. "Oh. I didn't think you'd react like -"
This time she took his hands in hers. "No. No. No. No, I'm not crying because of that article. Words cannot describe how proud of you I am. Even though you didn't say what you are which is perfectly fine. You were brave enough, to speak and talk freely about who you are and that is amazing."
"But?" He said knowing that she wanted to say more.
"I also read the other one. Where you said that you were in hospital because of your heart." He frowned slightly as Kea sniffed. "Why did you lie about your health?"
"It was just a scare, okay. I'm perfectly fine now." He assured as he squeezed her hands.
"It wasn't just a scare. You almost died." She started as she wiped a tear away. "I'm not even that mad at you. I'm mad at myself for ignoring your calls and texts. I only started talking to you again because I was worried about you and finally pushed past my pride and talked to you."
"You were worried about me?" He questioned sounding shocked making Kea scoff and stand up.
"Of course I was worried about you, stupid. Do you know how terrifying it was to read that article? I had been a bitch for months and then all this drama happened and now I find out that you could've died during all of this? So yes I was worried." Kea ranted as she paced up and down the room.
The boy stood up and walked over and stood in front of her and took her hands. She looked into his eyes making her calm down as her brought her knuckles up to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on them.
She smiled slightly before he let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her waist. She did the same with his as she pressed her head against his chest. The boy kissed the top of her head.
"I'm sorry for lying. I just really didn't want to worry you. I'll never lie to you again. I'm okay I promise okay?" The boy assured as she rubbed her back.
"Okay."
While they were still in their hug, Kea peered at the pink card hidden under the confetti in the basket.
She made a mental note to take it later and to make sure he never see it.
