To say Amelie Flood didn't have a casual bone in her body would be an understatement. It was almost as though she had no idea what the word meant. Whether that be in dressing, or relationships, Amelie was not built to be casual. She was over the top and if people in her life couldn't handle that then it was their own problem. Luckily, Sam Golbach was aware of this and he could handle it.

When Amelie opened her front door to let the man in while wearing a long sleeve black dress that came to her mid thigh and a pair of black heeled boots, he was ready and dressed for the occasion. Any normal person hears the words 'dress casual' and they usually put on a pair of jeans and a hoodie, but never Amelie.

   She accepted the bouquet of flowers he handed her with a smile before opening the door further and letting him wonder into the house like he done many times before. She followed after him, neither saying a word, neither really knowing what to do and how to navigate this.

    Everything was changed — not necessarily fucked like Amelie had imagined it would be, but very different. There was unclear waters they were trying to navigate and neither knew what to do.

   "You dyed your hair again." He broke the silence by saying. Sam pushed himself into one of the chairs on the kitchen island and smiled at the girl, his finger pointing to her newly brown hair.

   Amelie shrugged, grabbing a vase from underneath the sink and began to pour water into it, "Yeah... It's a- It's a long story."

   "It's nice." He complimented, leaving her to duck her head to avoid his eye, "It's longer too."

"Extensions. Expensive. Almost took out a loan— Why is everything so expensive here?" There she was. The Amelie he was she fond of. Don't get him wrong, he loved all her version, but this one had to be his favourite. The version of herself where she was just that. Herself.

He must have been staring because she had to snap her fingers in front of his face just to catch his attention. She whistled as she did so, "You have a staring problem." Oh, so he definitely was.

   "Only for you." He said and Amelie rolled her eyes as she grabbed her purse from the island and waited for him to stand up.

"You're so corny it makes me violently ill." She told him as they walked towards the front door.

   Sam held the door open for her as she slipped past him, "No, it doesn't."

Unfortunately it didn't.
