𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐀, the leaves touching your skin, tickling your side and your face.

you looked up at the sky, as you waited.

the different colours kidnapping your eyes and making you keep your focus on them.

your brain immediately wondered to neteyam, the shades of blue in front of you reminding  you of the pattern of his skin.

how could it not?

it was with you every time he could and you felt like he had started to take a special place inside the organ at the center of your chest.

sneaky bastard.

that's what you had thought when you had realised just how much you looked forward to getting lost into his beautiful eyes as he talked, and talked, and talked.

you moved your hands to cover your eyes, groaning into your palms.

you tried to shook away his imagine as you rolled around in the grass, chest facing the ground.

you heard a screech but you didn't bothered looking up, instead opting to simply roll your eyes as you knew who —or what— you would find.

"you've already eat, stop bothering me" you told him as you picked the leaves between your fingers.

he screeched again and you understood but you pretend that you didn't, not wanting to give him that satisfaction.

"don't know what you're talking about" you closed your eyes again, laying fully down pretending to go to sleep.

you heard some movements and before you could turn around and see just what was happening a big and dangerous paw was on your back.

his claw almost touching your side.

you should've been afraid, anyone else would've been.

but that anyone else would've also feared you first, so there was no reason for you to feel the same for him.

especially when he was the one that had chosen you.

"i thought you were supposed to be a bringer of death , stop acting like a puppy" you felt his grip tighten and also something else, something deeper in your soul.

god, you hated how powerful a bond could be.

"alright, alright" he letted you go, while you turned around to lay on your back he moved to sit next to you, as soon as he could he leaned his head on your belly and you started to gently cuddle him.

"so...can i stand him? definitely not. is he funny? not even in the slightest. does he know how to be silence enough to not make every single prey run away? i don't need to give you the answer. and lastly, do you approve? sadly, yes"

you traced the pattern on his hard skin with your fingers, he screeched, this time less high pitched making it feel as if it was just for the two of you.

he moved his head against your skin, almost as reciprocating your action.

who would've said that a toruk could've ever been so peaceful.

you chuckled at memory of neteyam seeing it for the first time, the way is breath had got caught in his throat, his eyes wide.

you felt your body temperature rise a little at the image of him going in front of you, to protect you.

he didn't thought twice, he had just did it.

in that moment you had rolled your eyes at him, pushing him back to your side as you moved in front of your friend to scratch his head.

that day was the day that you had finally started to open up about yourself to him.

you had explained to neteyam how the bond between you two was created, he learned that the first toruk makto was in fact a t'herkaya, but no one ever likes to talk about it.

you had told him that you had found him in a cave, it had been a really raining day and you had just hoped to find some comfort into the rocks.

but instead you had found him.

he had scared you at first, he had tried to bite you, he had tried to grip you with his claws, but when you had realised that he actually couldn't move from his place on the ground you had decided to help him.

you didn't know why.

maybe it was because his eyes were a reflection of your soul, that he had been scared just as much as you.

he had been just a baby, he still was, you knew that his father was probably the famous toruk that neteyam's father used to bring the clans to victory but you didn't knew where he was now.

so you took care of the baby in every way you could until he could move again, then he tried to kill you again and you realised that your paths couldn't be divided yet.

"what are you dreaming about" asked the familiar voice that had been hunting you every day.

"different ways to kill you" you responded, your companion got up from you, looking your blue friend up and down before flying away god knows where.

"damn!" he whistled at you, smirking as he walked towards you, his braids swinging from one side to the other "where are you taking me today?" he asked as he looked right into your eyes.

you smiled at him,  biting your lips before turning around and running away.

he chuckled to himself before following you into the darkness, and in that moment he knew that he would've followed you everywhere.

"so, we've all noticed how weird neteyam acts right?" loak's voice had a joking tone but for the trio in front of him it was a really serious matter.

"yes" replayed kiri as tuk and spider nodded in unison.

"he's always getting lost in his own world" spoked kiri as she used her hands to break a fruit in two half.

they were all seating around kiri and tuk were against a three while lo'ak and spider were in front of them on the grass.

"and the stupid excuse he makes every time" rolled his eyes lo'ak as he observed tuk draw on the ground with a stick.

"do you know where he goes?" questioned spider making the sullys sigh in exasperation.

"if we knew we wouldn't be here" loak's response was bitter but the human boy didn't cared.

"can't we just find out?" tuk was a genius, that was what the two boys thought as they kept their gaze on the little girl, kiri rolling her eyes as she had thought about that same idea lots of time prior.

"no, it's his thing guys" she tried to make them think, she wanted to know what was happening to her brother just as much as the others but she also noticed how he had been more relaxed since he had started to become weirder and she didn't want the others to took that from him.

"we just want to know!" protested kiri as they all got up on their feet.

"then, i promise, we are gonna pretend like nothing happened"

kiri knew that his younger brother was incapable of pretending like nothing happened if it was about neteyam, and she knew that she should've probably tried harder to stop them from thinking about their plan, but the truth was that she was curious like nobody else.

and so she letted tuk puppy's eyes be the thing to break her as she took her sister's hand in hers, following the other two.

she just hoped that neteyam was as smart as he looked.
