Uzumaki Naruto was impatient.
He had been waiting for Miyuki to come observe his training. He wanted to show her all the things he had learned during his time with Jiraiya. He wanted to brag to her that he mastered her father, the Fourth's signature move –The Rasengan.
But she was nowhere to be found and no matter who he asked, they all gave him the same reply, "Oh sorry Naruto, I haven't seen her."
He wasn't going to give up though, 'how can a future Hokage ever give up?'
'Wait- Hokage...! Grandma Tsunade must know about this!'
With that thought in mind, he made his way to the Hokage office assuming that all would his questions would be resolved once he reached the Hokage's office.
"I am not going to let you join the mission." Tsunade crossed her hands and leanes back down her chair, staring straight at the boy in front of her.
"But I haven't done anything after coming back! All my friends are out on missions. Every time I try to talk to any one of them, they are always going on about the cool moves, tactics or fights that they had used or encountered in their missions." Naruto complained.
"I am going to be clear, I do not have much time to listen to your problems. However, I'm not going to just let you take part in such a high-ranked mission by yourself." Tsunade was firm in her answer.
"But... no, what am I saying.. leave it." She was about to say something as he was just about to leave but instead, decided against it, choosing to focus on the paperwork again instead.
"Tell me Grandma Tsunade!! Do you have a new, cool mission or something for me? One where I can show off my Rasengan!?" It did not even take one second for him to stand right next to her.
"No, I do not." She turned to him, smirking slightly. "But, if you really want to know about Miyuki and Kakashi's mission, I have the mission file here in the table. However, I can't give it out to just anyone, you know."
"Can I just take a peek?" He asked, wondering what the big deal was about their mission.
"No, not allowed." She replied almost immediately. "But I need you to take the file and deliver it to Shizune, she should be nearly returning from an errand I sent her to complete." Tsunade ordered.
"I will, Grandma Tsunade!" He pointed at a brown file, "Is it this one...?"
"Yes, just drop it off to Shizune. But don't you dare sneak a peak, alright?"
"Yes, yes.." Naruto bolted out the Hokage office without even turning back.
Tsunade smiled, 'Mission succesful..'
Shizune entered right after, "Lady Tsunade, I saw Naruto run away as soon as he saw me. Do you know what's that about?"
"Not a clue, not a single clue."
Naruto made his way outside the gates, opening the file only after he managed to cross a few meters from the gates where Tsunade could appear from at any moment.
He found two papers. It was the details of the mission that Kakashi and Miyuki had taken up. He skimmed through it, "A man named Banri — blah blah blah — oh, there it is! The location where the guy was last seen." He put the paper back in the file. "I'm totally gonna Rasengan this Banana guy and then I won't have to listen to Kiba's latest cool move anymore!"
He made his way to the woods, completely surrounded by the forests. He wondered what Miyuki would have done in this situation.
He heard her voice in his head, memories from their past trainings started to flash by, 'Check from above, and then check below.'
He jumped up and sat on a branch, checking to see any abnormalities. He couldn't find any, however, he seemed to come across an uneven patch of land. The leaves were not doing a good job at hiding whatever was underneath.
'Damn, Mr.Banana must have played 'Shinobi Flash 2' because he did the same thing the main character did in trying to hide the Princess's crown.'
He ran to the spot, 'What to do now?' He looked around the forest, 'What am I supposed to do now?!'
He panicked, 'I was so confident in stealing the scroll from Grandma Tsunade. But she should have just given it to me though!' He whined, 'Who else is better to be in a mission then me?! I just came back from a super awesome training!'
'But there must be something here. . . A clue or something.' Just as he was about to take a step forward, he fell through a hole.
"AHHH!! HOLY MOTHER OF RAMEN!!" His scream rang out, but no one could hear it. Not even the birds on the trees right next to his previous spot. Neither in his time nor in the time he would be sent to.
A long time before the birth of Naruto – who was currently in a time hole – a blonde woman was gambling in a small town on the outskirts of Konoha. By her side, praying she wins, was a young girl who happened to be holding a pig.
A bottle of sake was in the hands of the blonde woman as her competitors laughed at her, as she seemed to them to have no luck at all.
"Lady Tsunade, I thunk that's enough for today." The young woman said as she tried to stop her from creating more avoidable losses.
"No, no. I am about to win." She answered, because she did have good cards. It just happens that the others had better cards.
The girl and the pig stared at each other, giving each other 'the look'. The kind of communication via eyes where they both knew that Tsunade was a hopeless case, addicted to gambling... and seemingly addicted to losing.
She believed everyday, with a refreshed spirit that everyday would be her lucky day. Instead, she was making everyone she faced off against, 'lucky'. And had also built up quite a reputation for herself.
What the three of them didn't know was that that day would just be their 'unluckiest' or in Tsuande's logic, 'luckiest' day.
