Gil had to make an emergency stop when suddenly three persons appeared out of nothing, right in front of her. It was a good thing they were in a quiet alley, most of the humans were a few streets away, still staring at the Big Ben, but some already started to walk again. Whatever they had been looking at was probably not interesting anymore. No one noticed the sudden appearance of the three person, save from Gil of course. The ones who had suddenly appeared were Michael, Castiel and someone Gil did not knew. The girl was coughing up blood and very pale. Gil could see the blue veins through her almost transparent skin. She looked really, really bad.
Ten, who had been running behind Gil, didn't noticed she had stopped and collided against her back which caused Gil to crash into Michael. The archangel caught her hand before Gil could fall on the street and put her back on her feet with no effort what so ever.
"I'm so sorry," Ten apologised but Gil waved it away. That could happen.
Eleven, Dean, Sam, Sherlock, John, Serena, Alexis, Hawk, Greg and Phoenix all skidded to a halt as well when they saw Gil and Ten had stopped. Castiel disappeared, only to come back mere seconds later but now in his hand he was holding a small flask with an illuminating substance in it.
Sam knew what that was and glanced at the pale girl lying at Michael's feet. She was an angel.
"It is going to be all right, Muriel," Michael muttered while striking the red hair of the girl. "We are here now."
Muriel tried to smile but she had almost no strength left to do so. Castiel handed Michael the flask and the archangel kneeled in front of Muriel. He opened it and the angel's grace returned to its owner. Michael put his hand on the gaping wound and when he removed it again, the wound was healed. Colour returned to her cheeks while she loudly gasped for air. Finally, she could breathe without blood seeping into her lungs. Not only was her throat healed, she felt as if she was as good as new. For the first time in centuries, Muriel felt whole again.
Michael helped her on her feet while he shot an angry glace at Castiel. "That was very foolish of you, Castiel," he said. "You could have died."
Alexis frowned at Castiel. It seemed they had missed something.
Castiel shrugged. "I caught him by surprise. There is nothing to worry about it. If I hadn't tried it, Muriel would have lost her power and who knows what Avus would have done with it. You saw it as well: he was casting some kind of spell."
Hawk bowed towards Sherlock. "Am I the only one who is a tad confused?"
Sherlock shook his head, almost invisible. "No, you're not the only one." He didn't like it, though.
"Did you... Did you kill Avus?" Serena asked Castiel, unsure of what to make of the conversation between the two angels.
"No. I hit him on the nose."
Dean chuckled. God, too bad he hadn't been there to see it. That would've been hilarious.
"Those humans have a bad influence on you, Castiel," Michael said and glared at Dean who stopped laughing. "It is not funny. Now, we have an angry archdemon on our tails."
Castiel rolled his eyes. "We already had that. At least now he couldn't complete whatever he was doing. You should be rejoiced."
Muriel cleared her throat to get their attention and to stop the angels from arguing. "I saw a glimpse of the future, Michael. We indeed should be happy Avus couldn't succeed. He was about to free the Cold Dark One. Or, as we know him, Frigus. Now we only have to deal with the archdemon and not with an overpowered demon as well." Muriel's blue eyes drifted towards Hawk and suddenly this all looked very familair. As if she had seen it before. In a flash, it all came back to her. She had in fact seen it before; in a vision from when she thought she was nothing but a mortal.
Hawk recognised her as well. She was the crazy woman who had harassed her a few days ago in Baker Street. So she was an angel? Great. Hawk bend over to pick up her fox Han, to avoid the piercing blue eyes of Muriel who looked as if she had seen a ghost. And when Hawk stood straight again, she found out why.
A cold blade was placed against her throat and painfully pricked in her skin. Han Solo growled and jumped out of her harms, towards whoever was standing behind her. The fox did not come close and Hawk's heart broke when the high screech of Han filled her ears and the bundle of red fur smacked upon the stones. Han Solo did not move and Hawk feared for the worst. She tried to free herself to reach her beloved fox, but the silver blade only dugged farther in her skin and some drips of blood trickled down her throat. Her threatener would not let her go. With big green eyes, Hawk stared at the unmoving fox. A wrinkled hand placed itself on top of her shoulder and Sam's translation of the archdemon rang through her mind; grandfather. Avus was here and probably very pissed. Hawk was afraid her life would end in a blink of an eye, just as had happened to Han. She had little hope left of her fox surving the crash against the unforgiving street.
"Back up," Avus hissed at the persons who were standing around Hawk. "Or I will slit this girl's throat." They slowly walked away from Hawk while holding up their hands, showing they wouldn't try anything. Hawk's eyes crossed Sherlock's and nodded at her, assuring it was going to be okay.
"Avus," Michael grumbled. "Get away from the girl. She has got nothing to do with this. This is something between the angels and the demons. Leave the humans be."
"You are wrong, cousin of mine," Avus answered with a low and rasping voice. "This does concern the humans. They do not deserve to live on the earth. Earth belongs to Lucifer and his demons. It belongs to me." He put more pressure on the blade and Hawk yelped in pain but the hand on her shoulder kept her on her spot.
"What is that you want?" Muriel asked, the words were tumbling out of her mouth. She knew what would happen, she had seen it before and time seemed to be going too fast as well as too slow.
"You know what I want." Avus' voice was dangerously low. "I need the grace of an archangel."
Michael pushed Muriel behind him and Castiel grabbed her wrist so that she couldn't surrender herself. Out of the sleeve of Michael's coat slid an angel's blade and the archangel grabbed the handle tightly. "You cannot have her. Your story ends here, today. You will take no other innocent life."
A shiver ran down Hawk's spine when Avus chuckled slowly and ominous. The blade digged in her skin, deeper with every laugh that escaped Avus' mouth. Hawk closed her eyes. So... this was it. Avus was going to kill her because of Michael's provocation.
