Mia

I left the foyer when Lucifer and Queen came back to talk to Syn. I didn't know how everyone felt but I for one was ecstatic to have Syn here. Queen for some reason wanted to keep what happened with Dimitri a secret and I had no idea why.

All I knew was that Syn would protect her. And that's all that mattered. I walked back to my room quietly and when I arrived, I jumped when I saw Cain sitting on my bed. I was supposed to be trying to stay away from him.

At least that's what my boyfriend wanted me to do. We'd been dating for the past couple of years, and he proposed to me a few weeks ago. I told him I'd think about it but I still for some reason couldn't say yes.

I didn't doubt that it had something to do with the maniac sitting on my bed though. His legs were crossed as he read a magazine and when I walked in, he smiled up at me. "Hello, my love."

"Let's not do this today," I muttered. He grinned and returned his attention to the magazine and I sat next to him. "We need to hang out today." I wanted Queen and Syn to be alone so I made up an excuse for Cain and me. Now I just needed to follow through.

He glanced up at me then back to the booklet. "Can't."

"Why not?" I asked.

"I'm busy tonight," he muttered.

"With what?"

He grinned as he slowly looked back up at me and closed the book. He tossed it to the side and clasped his hands into his lap. "Wouldn't you like to know?"

"I mean, friends usually talk to each other about these things," I said with a small laugh.

He sighed and rolled his eyes before looking back at me. "Well...if you must know, I have a date with Jocelyn."

"Your lawyer?" I asked in shock. "You're going on a date with your lawyer?"

"Ehh sorta, sorta not," he said with a shrug.

"Isn't she married?"

"Why are you asking so many questions?" He asked with a laugh. "If I didn't know any better I'd say you were jealous."

I scoffed and crossed my arms. "I'm not jealous at all."

"Okay."

"Okay," I mimicked.

"Alright," he shrugged once again.

"Cain seriously how are you going to call me your love and stuff, and then go on a date with someone?" I pouted. I knew that I shouldn't have been as upset as I was but the thought of him going out with someone was a thought that I didn't like.

"The same way you have a boyfriend yet you're upset about who I go out with," he replied.

I took a deep breath and remembered a few words from my newest therapist:

"It's not Cain's job to stick around while you figure out what you want. You know you need stability, he's not that, Jackson, your boyfriend, is that."

When I opened my eyes I saw Cain looking at me with a smile on his face. "What therapy bullshit did you just think about this time?"

"It's not bullshit, it really helps me," I said sadly.

His smile dropped and he sighed. "Okay, sorry about calling it bullshit. But what did you think about?"

"Just something she said. She told me I needed stability, and she's told me I needed to follow my mind when it came to relationships," I said carefully and precisely.

"I believe in following your heart," he said as he looked into my eyes.

My heart stopped for a moment until I remembered who he was. "No, you believe in following your dick."

He laughed softly and gave me a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah sure, you're right," he said quietly.ย

"What am I going to do Cain? I already said I'd be with you," I whined. "Can I just come with you and Jocelyn?"

"Hell no! Do you remember the last time you went with me on a date? You told the girl I had herpes."

I moved my hair over my shoulder and shrugged. "In my defense, I helped you out, she was a bitch."

"In your defense, you have feelings for me," he argued. I blew out a breath and rolled my eyes as he laughed. "Come on Mia, you can lie. I'll be with Jocelyn and you can be with Crapson."

"Jackson," I corrected.

"Semantics," he said quickly with a wave of his hand.

I looked down at my lap and sighed. "He asked me to marry him."

He remained quiet for a few moments before sighing. "I'll kill him if you said yes," he said simply. My head snapped back up at him and I laughed out loud.

"What?" I said in a voice full of amusement.

"I'm so serious, Mia," he said with a straight face. "Dating? It hurts but I can handle it. If you marry him, I'll kill him."

My laughter died down as I took in the seriousness of his expression. I frowned and I shook my head at him. "You can't just kill someone I-"

"Don't. Fucking. Say. It," he threatened through gritted teeth.

"Someone I lo-"

He wrapped his hand around my neck and pushed me down against the bed. "Mia, my patience is wearing thin right now. I've been waiting for you for three years, don't do this to me right now." His eyes searched mine and mine did the same to his. As I looked longer I saw sadness and hurt reflected in his. "Please."

I nodded and he plastered a smile on his face before sitting up and pulling me with him. He fixed my hair that had fallen into my face and picked the magazine up as if nothing had happened.

The lingering feeling of his hand around my neck made me solidify my previous thoughts. Cain was unstable in every way imaginable. He was unpredictable, unsafe, unreliable, and most the most dangerous of all, I was under his spell.

A spell I needed to break as soon as possible. All these years I've been doing a good job in taking care of myself mentally. Me falling for Cain would send the both of us into a downward spiral of chaos and destruction. I was enough for Cain amidst that foreseen chaos, but I don't know that he'd be enough for me.

I couldn't be with a man that I didn't know would be waking up next to me or in prison, and because of that, I knew my answer to Jackson's proposal.

"I got to go," I said as I stood up. His eyes followed my movements as I grabbed a bag from my closet and set it on my bed. I walked to my dresser and grabbed a few clothes and came back to the bed.

Cain stood up from the bed and walked to me. "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to stay with Jackson for a few days," I said as I stuffed the clothes in the bag. I turned the dresser to get more clothes but when I tried to put them in the bag, Cain stopped me.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because I want to," I said as I reached around him. He stepped in front of me again and I threw my hands up in frustration. "You're so annoying!"

"I am," he said. I rolled my eyes and tried to move around him once again but he did the same thing. "Cain, I want to be with him."

"Do you now?" He asked in a flat voice.

"Yes, so if you'll excuse me," I replied. Instead of moving like I wanted him to, he remained strangely quiet and took a step towards me. I assumed it was an intimidation tactic so I remained firmly in my spot and our bodies were pressed against one another. We entered into a glaring match and I, of course, looked away first.

I was a lot stronger than Cain considering I was a vampire, but he had this aura about him that made me want to cower into a corner sometimes. "You're going to marry him," he said.

"Yes."

He brought his face lower to mine and I could feel his breath against my cheek. His hands moved around my hips and trailed down my ass as a smirk graced his beautiful lips. I brought my eyes back to his and he stood up straight and let go of me.

He walked past me to the door and I turned around to watch him leave. I held my breath as he stopped walking and turned to face me.

"I seriously dare you to try to marry him, Mia."

Cain

Pissed was a fucking understatement to how I felt as soon as I left Mia's room. If she was one of my subs I would've spanked her until she couldn't sit for a week. I stormed straight out of the palace, not bothering to talk to anyone and I walked to my car.

I needed to blow off steam and what better way was there than for me to do my job. I lived at the palace but it wasn't my home. I truly only stayed here because of my sister and Mia. But right now, I needed to get away from Mia before I hurt the both of us.

I started my car and pulled out of the driveway and sped home. I drove lazily with one arm, and my sports car thundered down the underworld's busy streets. The honking from other cars didn't phase me as I was usually used to police sirens following behind me.

Within thirty minutes, I pulled into my building and quickly got out of the door. "Sir," the valet greeted. I nodded and tossed him keys and opened the large double doors.

I walked through the large cool lobby and I ignored the eyes that followed me. I heard one of my guards on his earpiece notify someone that I was heading upstairs and I continued walking. I was used to that since that was the normal procedure when I was to arrive here.

I clicked on the elevator button and waited impatiently as it came down. About two minutes later, it did and I stormed in and clicked on the 50th floor, where my penthouse was.

I leaned against the wall and watched the bright red numbers above the elevator go up one by one. There were no interruptions at all until I got to the 43rd floor. The doors opened and a beautiful green fairy walked in. She was practically naked as she covered herself with her wings and gave me a shy smile.

"What floor?" I asked.

"The 50th," she answered in a small voice. I smirked as she said my floor and I pressed the button once again when the doors closed.

I leaned against the wall again and looked up at the numbers. "Is there a reason you're naked?"

"I flew here," she said.

"And you're here to see Cain?" I asked.

"Yes," she whispered as she looked down at her feet. Her confidence didn't seem the best so that was something we'd have to work on. I eyed her luscious and curvy body and didn't see why she felt so ashamed.

Whatever the reason behind her discomfort, I'd figure it out. In all my years of training subs, I've come across many plus-sized women who hated themselves, along with size two women who did as well.

"Why are you coming to see him?" I asked.

"My husband wanted me to," she said.

Oh no. "That's the only reason?"

"No, I'm a bit curious myself," she said as she hugged herself. I removed my jacket and passed it to her and she shook her head. "No, that wouldn't fit me," she denied with a small laugh.

I ignored her and wrapped my jacket around her shoulders and she looked up at me with Golden brown eyes. The elevator dinged open and I stepped aside and she gasped as she saw the trail of women kneeling on the floor before me wearing black lingerie and masks.

"When we walk through these doors, you'll refer to me as Master. If I tell you to wear something, I don't want there to be a comment on your weight," I walked into my penthouse and my subs bowed their heads.

The girl followed behind me quickly and gasped. "Cain?"

"I could've sworn I said to call me Master as soon as we walked through the doors."

Can I call you Daddy instead?๐Ÿ˜

So Mia is stuck in a bit of a pickle here. She clearly has feelings for Cain, but doesn't think he's good for her. Which he may not be...๐Ÿ‘€. Give me your unbiased opinion on what she should do๐Ÿ˜Œ.
On oh jeez, a trail of women?? I guess Cain never mentioned how many he trained at once. Maybe we'll get more insight into that life of his...maybe we won't ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ. We'll see.
