Trigger warning: flashing image

Your grandmother was furious when she saw the bruise on your face. She believed you had been bullied again and wanted to contact the principal right away to demand an explanation.

Your teacher called her just in time to explain the gym incident.

You couldn't figure out why you were in such a depressed and melancholy mood. You couldn't believe you told Yeojun your secret. Why did you tell him?

It was as if something sinister was at work, and you couldn't shake the uneasy feeling. It frightens you to death. Why weren't you warned about the gym incident? You never see it coming. You've decided to avoid the popular as of tomorrow. Out of sight, out of mind. Your grandmother was furious when she saw the bruise on your face. But the Oracle gift made it nearly impossible to remain unnoticed.

Your friends are unaware of your gift, much less the curse. Why couldn't the seer gift latch onto the boys, instead of burdening the women in your family? You don't want to be the go-between for the spirit realm and your culture. You want to be just 'Luna'-plain, unassuming Luna.

That night, you couldn't sleep because you felt a presence with you. In the bedroom, you felt a heaviness and a dark aura.

You couldn't tell your grandmother or Sammy. It will disturb them, and she may summon all of the Korean shamans to come and cleanse the house. You simply kept your mouth shut.

Your nightmares were splattered with blood and gore. You awoke from your slumber, wet from perspiration, and groggily ran to the dark and cold bathroom to refresh your face with cold water.

When you looked in the mirror, your reflection became foggy and misty. You tried to clean the mirror, but it suddenly reflected a misty silhouette of a figure with a hand slowly reaching out toward you. You jump backward in fear, your heart thumping erratically inside your chest as your eyes widen and fixate on the mirror image.

You were so terrified by that glimpse in the old mirror that you ran back to your bed. You jumped into the covers and threw the duvet over your head, almost paralyzed with fear.

" Oh, Dios mรญo ( oh my goodness) What was that...oh my goodness! I'm going to die...they're coming for me!!!" you mutter incoherently under the covers

You remember your mother telling you about Mexican folk tales or urban legends about mirrors. It scared you half to death. After all, they've always been called "windows into another world." A portal to the spirit world.

You appear disoriented because you awoke later than expected. Was it real? Was it a dream or a vision? When you hear a frantic knock on your bedroom door, you quickly throw off your covers and call out,

"I'm up, Grandma!"

You don't want to be chastised by your grandmother this early.

"Good morning, Luna! Your Appa is on the phone, so hurry down!" You hear her yelling at the door.

"Morning, Gran...I'm coming!" you grumbled back.

You're wondering why your father couldn't call you on your cell phone.

Oh, yes! You turned it off because your two friends wanted to talk late into the night. Your grandmother does not want you to sleep too late. She set a sleep schedule for you to follow with the help of your Appa, so 10 p.m. was your curfew.

You entered the bathroom with caution, your brow furrowed as you looked in the mirror.

Wasn't it an ornate, vintage-styled mirror? You sigh with relief, knowing that your nightmare wasn't real. You rush through your morning routine and dash downstairs to the kitchen/dining room.

Sammy was already dressed in his uniform as your grandmother served him a bowl of hot porridge. You greet her with a bow.

She handed you the phone and furrowed her brows, "Your cheek looks purple, before you go, let me redress your nose...children can be so brutal these days..." she clicks her tongue as she dishes up a bowl for you.

You simply nod and greet Sammy, who was looking at you with curious eyes.

You just shook your head and answer into the handset, "Buenos dรญas papรก (good morning dad), How are you doing?"

"Good morning, my dear; I hope you and Sammy are settled. I'll see you this weekend. But I'm still working on finishing up at work and selling our house." You could hear him say softly.

"Papa, we miss you. Please be extremely cautious... I'm afraid...the dreams are becoming more graphic now. I'm terrified of losing my family." You whisper so that your grandmother and Sammy don't overhear your conversation."

"Don't dwell on that gift, my darling. Enjoy your school, enjoy being a carefree teen... You only have one life to live. I'll be traveling to Korea with your great aunt Ines. She could be useful "He told you softly.

"No one survived the curse, Papa. Grandma, my great-great granmother. Nothing could appease the Oracle. Someone has to die. It's so difficult, papa." You had a sobbing tone.

Whatever your ancestor chose, the Oracle just smirked and went about its business. What sets you apart? You must choose either the mark of the oracle' or the soulmate mark.'

There is no in-between. It's either one of them or death. It was the only option you had. As your 17th birthday approaches as a carrier of the oracles mark, you will receive the unfortunate knowledge of knowing who your soulmate is. Why can't you be like all the other normal kids in the soulmate system and get to meet your soulmate on your 18th birthday? You must now live with the knowledge that you know your soulmate before he is even aware of your existence.

"We'll win this time, baby girl. You will survive, as will your soulmate whoever it is. Don't worry about the future. Leave it in the future and enjoy the present... Papa will see you. Look after yourself and Sammy."

You greet them and then hang up. You frown at the phone. Your great aunt Ines is your late Mexican grandmom's only surviving sister. She is the only family that hasn't discarded your family as the cursed family, the family with a stigma.

You sighed deeply as you told your grandma about your aunt Ines's forthcoming visit.

"She will assist you in better understanding your gift...so eat up and go change. Before I allow you to board the bus." Your gran went to her room after placing her coffee cup inside the basin.

Sammy looks concerned as he looks at the dark circles under your eyes "Luna, you appear tired. Are you all right?"

You gave your younger brother a loving look "I'm fine, Sammy. Don't be concerned about me. I'll make it. Just be cautious, please...."

You ate a few spoons of porridge, but the tension in your stomach makes you feel nauseous. You don't want to go to school, but you have a music theory test coming up...and you had to avoid the boy known as...Yeonjun.

......

You were so tired that when you were in Korean history class, you just folded your arms and turned your face toward the window to relax on your arms. Ignorant of what is going on around you. You had to dig and dive, and every time you saw the Y3 class, you had to hide. Dahyun and Chayeong were amused by your antics.

"Did you go clubbing last night, Luna? You have panda eyes." Dahyun was giggling in your ear.

You mutter as you turn your head, "I wish...never been to one either. I'm simply too exhausted. I didn't get much sleep."

You couldn't get the strange dream out of your head; what does it even mean? You're hoping Aunt Ines will shed some light on this new phase.

"Or maybe your dreams were plaque by a very....hot and handsome Mr. Choi Yeo--," Chayeong grins and waggles her eyes.

You sit up abruptly, grab her by the mouth, and seethe "Cha, are you insane? Keep your mouth shut...do you want Yeji to kill me...or all her crazy minions?"

"Would you like to join me and my mom for some Korean BBQ?"

Dahyun looks at her two friends. Chayeong excitedly jumps.

"Oh, yes!JYP diet meals are slowly killing us. My mouth is already watering "Chayeong exaggeratedly licked her lips.

You moved your head, "That will be wonderful. I must first inform Grandma."

Dahyun's eyes widen as she asks, "Guys, how will we be a part of the leadership camp in two weeks? We need to join a cool group, earn their leadership, and voila, we're in a group. I'd like to attend that fantastic camp. Soobin will be present...I have to be there."

She cast a dreamy glance at Soobin, who was conversing with the teacher. She had a deep crush on the new idol. He is friendly, but not particularly receptive to her advances.

You grin as Chayeong smirks sarcastically, "Ok? It's all for Soobin. Then we need to look into groups that are looking for new members. Txt groups are already full. The vocal, dancing, art, and cooking groups are all full, while the drama group does not accept new members. Too exclusive for anyone."

You ask them, your eyes light up, "Guys...what about the music club or even a sports club?"

"There is already a vocal club...and I am not aware of any sports clubs that are looking for new members." We need a club that requires less effort." Dahyun wrinkled her brow.

"I understand...but isn't there a music club, like the orchestral class?"

You arch your brows.

"Oh my goodness! The club of Eunoo. He is the Instrumental club's president. Why haven't we considered him?" Chayeong's eyes sparkle. You all give each other high fives.

"Perhaps you two can make his club and go on your long-desired camp."

You notify them.

"What do you mean exactly? ...we two...we're three, and we're all getting into the club...we're a clique. All of us or none of us"Dahyun pursed her lips.

You all smile and decide to approach Eunoo the next time you see him.

The following subject was music theory. You gather your belongings and follow your classmates out. Dahyun and Chayeong were talking about the upcoming test. You sigh because you didn't study thoroughly the night before. You just have to hope you pass.

You felt a tug at the back of your head. Oh no, not again. Images will flood your mind in a matter of minutes. You need to get away from the crowd and into a quiet spot. You can't just freeze in the middle of a student body.

"Please inform the teacher that I am on my way. I'm just going to the restroom..." As you rushed to the nearest restroom, the pain in your head quieted down. When you got to the stall, you closed your eyes.

Just as you shut the stall door and sat on the closed toilet seat, your eyes began to glaze over as images entered the recess of your mind.

Vision:

โ†ถ*เณƒโœงหš. โƒ โ†ท...girl fell on the rough ground...bloody knees...hands touching...โ†ถ*เณƒโœงหš. โƒ โ†ท หŠ

The odd vision made you shake your head. There is no face...only two hands touching.

Strange...

You don't feel compelled to take action. You leap up and dash back to class, hoping that your teacher will not be annoyed.

You must go downstairs to access the music studios. You dash down the stairs, checking your wristwatch. You have nearly 2 minutes to get to class before you are marked tardy. As you approached the second last step, your feet slipped beneath you and you fell to your knees.

As you struggled to keep your tears from falling, the pain in your knees took your breath away. You did not bother the frantic footsteps coming down the stairs while you inspect the damage to your knees.

"Ugh...Oh my goodness! It hurts "as you saw streams of blood flowing from the wounds, your vision blurred. It stung.

You repeatedly tried to stand, but before you knew it, a pair of hands were tugged under your arms, swiftly lifting you, and placing you on the upper stair. As you tried to look at the person bending in front of you to inspect the damage on your legs, your eyes were too blurry with tears. You quickly grabbed his hand away from your knee when he attempted to touch it. Sparks flew through both of your hands. You catch your breath as you look into the eyes that locked into yours...Yeonjun.

How crazy that the vision brought you two back together?

"Yeojun?"

You express your disbelief. Wiping your eyes quickly with the back of your trembling hands. Why is it him?

Yeonjun looked quietly into your tearful eyes, a smirk on his lips. "We meet once more... Luna. Let me examine your knees-- "His gaze was drawn to your scuffed-up knees. He appears to be concerned about the strong flow of blood. He quickly reached into his bag for a hanky to help stop the flow of blood.

You look terrified all around. On the top of the stairs, two of his group members were amusedly looking down at the caring Hyung and the girl who caused him a lot of trouble with his crush, Yeji.

Your gaze shifted from the smirking two to Yeonjun, who was wiping away the blood with his hanky....unaware of his friend's grins.

The gentle touch of his hands triggered thousands of butterflies in your stomach.

"Er...Yeonjun...I'm fine. You'll be late for class...please go....it's all right?" You don't want new rumors about the two of you to circulate. You don't want to get into a fight with his girlfriend and her wacky lackeys.

'It appears you require another visit to the sick bay...Luna.'

The look in his eyes made you flush. Why are you so taken with this boy? You're terrified of falling for him, even though you know it's already happening.

"It's okay...I...I have a music theory test to write," you protest.

"Nonsense...your knees require medical attention before infection can begin." He raised his eyes to his smirking friends, "Taehyun, please go to Luna's class teacher and inform him that Luna had a minor accident, Beomgyu, please take her bag, and let's get her checked out."

"But....but....," you mutter to yourself. This is not a good sign. The new birdies will spread rumors when Taehyun informs your teacher when he visits your class.

Yeonjun carried you through a different hallway in bridal style. You were flushed as you took large strands of your hair and covered your face so no one would recognize you.

When Yeonjun noticed what you were trying to do, he laughed. Beomgyu began to chuckle at this funny girl. He had heard that this girl was constantly implicating his hyung. She doesn't want to be seen with the 'it boys.

Beomgyu grinned "Hi, my name is Beomgyu. I'm delighted to finally meet you "He just shrugged as Yeonjun gave him a warning look.

You pull back your hair and take a look at your cute friend "Oh, Hello, my name is Luna. Beomgyu, it's a pleasure to meet you." You crack a small smile. You were perplexed as to why you felt Yeonjuns' heart was racing. Your heartbeat was so in sync.

He looked down at your crimson face, puzzled as to why he felt so protective of this girl. She is the one who has caused him so much anxiety. Why is he so taken with her? She is not his soulmate because she is still 16 years old and he will be 18 in a few weeks.

Is it her gift, or something else? He's known that he likes Yeji for months, but since the hot water incident, he can't stop thinking about her. He became more hesitant to ask Yeji out, citing their company's dating ban, even though it was merely a precaution.

When you entered the sick bay, the school nurse was surprised to see the same couple from the day before. Beomgyu informed Yeonjun that he needed to attend class. He'll go to Yeonjuns' senior class and inform his teacher about him assisting a girl.

While you sat on the bed and the nurse attended to your knees, you looked everywhere except in his eyes, which were filled with questions.

Yeonjun assisted you in getting off the bed when you were finished.

"Please be careful, Luna, I don't want to see you in the sick bay again....how is your nose feeling?"She warned in a concerned tone. Lifting your chin to examine your nose.

You smile wryly, "It's a little sensitive, but the ointment helps with the bruising." Your knees were plastered over. You're relieved that the school nurse didn't wrap bandages around your knees; thank God for small miracles.

You simply nod and take your bag to where Beomgyu had placed it on the black sofa.

You thanked Yeonjun and wanted to return to class when you were outside, but he gently grabbed your upper arm.

"Luna, why are you avoiding me?"

You're wondering why he appears sad. You simply shrugged.

You look up at his tall frame with a soft tone, but the expression on his face makes you nervous, so you look down "I had to because I was causing you too many problems...with you and Yeji. I apologize for everything. Please forget you ever knew who I was. From now on, I'll stay out of your way."

His brow furrowed, but his tone was urgent. "Then, please explain why I have this nagging feeling that we are connected in some way...?" But there's something about her that captivates people. Captivates him.

You just shook your head, "You must figure it out for yourself, Yeonjun. I have to go write my test. Thank you so much for everything." Gazing into his eyes, you just inhaled deeply.

You turned around and walked slowly to class. Yes, but what is the connection between the two of you...?

You already have a nagging suspicion that frightens you half to death.

A/n Hi MOA's hope you all love the chapter. Yeonjun already experiences soulmate awareness with Luna.

Do you think Luna has an idea what the connection might be?
