"𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴..." {𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀}
With the creation of humankind, the Greek gods and goddesses [commonly referred to as "the gods"] of Mount Olympus found themselves against the lower super-powered witches and wizards [commonly known as "the mages"] for the praise of mankind. As a result of sensing the tensions between the two groups, it was Ares's idea to host a competition.
While some of the gods were skeptical about the concept, Apollo jumped onto the idea instantly, acting as the "Sponsor Initiative" for the candidates. Soon afterwards, Zeus agreed on the account of ensuring the mages would lose. With Zeus giving the final approval [seeing how he is the "king" of the gods], the idea was sent to the mages who were required to submit their champions... whether they would have agreed with the concept or disagree with it.
Thus, this began the Mystic Trials between the gods and the mages consisting of six champions from each side. While these two sides competed, the humans [commonly referred to as "the mortals"] cheered on their favorites, ensuring an abundance of rewards if their pick had won.
The cycle repeated for eons, each generation competing until the year Amarilis Ortiz had entered. A powerful and renowned witch in her own right, she had represented the mages alongside five of her other team members. Shaking up the competition by storm, the mages went from losing their members to 'eliminating' the gods, one-by-one.
This was a epic win for the mages, who kept losing for several years in a row. On the other hand though, Zeus was furious by these newfound changes!
He couldn't stand the chance of losing to the mages, so the god did everything in his power to make sure the opposing team went down. Ironically enough though, his plan had backfired... poorly. Not only was he caught early on by Athena but some of the gods had began siding with the mages, one of them being Hephaestus.
Hephaestus had fallen in love with the witch who had captured his heart much like Amarilis Ortiz, who had fallen for the god who had captured hers. From there, the two sharing a secretive yet forbidden relationship. If done correctly, these two would have had the love story for ages to come...
Except it never came.
Aphrodite had found out and through a couple of strings [with help, of course], she had managed to get Amarilis Ortiz to the top... With the intention of punishing the witch for breaking one of the rules.
Once word got through to Zeus, he strived himself to make an example of the witch, which he had [for the most part] succeeded... Not without Amarilis Ortiz getting the last word, however. With the necklace given to her by Hephaestus, she had cursed the arena grounds, much to the shock of both sides.
Ensuring that the curse would be lifted after her successor found her necklace, her words weren't enough and she was burned, the win going to the gods on the account of the mages breaking the rules.
Naturally, the mages were outraged from this, having just lost one of their best fighters to bring accused of breaking the rules [as Ares had purposely tweaked the words given by Zeus with help from a inside mage], sparking a first war between the two sides. The mortals [who were supporting Amarilis Ortiz at the time] stopped worshipping the gods as support for the mages.
This was their biggest mistake.
Natural disasters appeared from left-to-right, the endless stream of disasters harming the mortals in every way possible. The gods were only revert these changes if the mortals offered something in return. In exchange of things returning to normal, the mortals gave up two of their kind, the ones who had supported the witch from the start.
With the two mortals being made into an example, the concept of teams spouted out as a way of preventing everyone from being punished rather than the mortals collectively choosing their respective champion. But by then, the competition was sealed off and became nothing more than a mere legend, the curse practically forgotten...
Twenty-one-years later after the incident, the competition reopened with new changes.
Inspired by the sacrifice, the slots included two mortals for the sake of reminding them of the consequences should things go astray. Only this time, these two mortals are fighting back, determined not to lose. With one even resembling the spirit of a certain witch...
All while there is a sinister plot to overthrow Zeus and claim Mount Olympus, ruling over the gods and soon, everyone else with them with their own team.
Who will come out on top? Which team will win? What is the ultimate prize? How will the sinister plot be stopped, if the plot is stopped at all? Find out the answers to these burning questions and more in...
The Mystic Trials!

This book is the revamped/new replacement for MSMG [Magic Spells and Missing Gods: Book One] with some of the elements from the former book planted onto this new book. As such, those who had their characters in the previous book will make an appearance here [shout-out to magicsunsapphire for giving me the idea of re-using the characters].
More information on these characters will be revealed in the next segment but for now, their names will be listed here as a reminder of the characters from the previous book.
In addition, the list is not in order.
For those who are interested, I am looking for one demigod [preferably, a girl] and one mage [preferably, a male wizard]. If no one is interested, then the remaining spots will be filled in by me.
