PHANTOM TRAVELER [PART THREE]
___
"He's joking, right?"
โ
"Believe me, he's not. He's actually afraid of flyin'."
โข โข โข
The three hunters are spread about their motel room, Juliet on her and Deans bed with Harlow taking a nap next to her while Dean is on Sam's bed and Sam is at the motel table. Each hunter is in full research mode, not that long ago, they taped news articles and images on the walls and not to mention the other articles spread over both beds.
Sam sits at the table, doing research on his laptop and Dean is sitting on his brothers bed, reading while Juliet goes through old newspaper clippings.
Sam looks up at his brother and best friend, making sure to speak with a low voice so he doesn't wake his sleeping niece. "So, every religion in every world culture has the concept of demons and demonic possession, right? I mean Christian, Native American, Hindu, you name it."
Dean nods his head, agreeing with his little brother, "Yeah, but none of them describe anything like this."
Juliet turns to her boyfriend and shakes her head, "That's not exactly true, hon. According to Japanese beliefs, certain demons are behind certain disasters, both natural and man-made. One causes earthquakes, another causes disease."
Juliet looks up when she notices that the room has gone quiet, except for Harlow's little snores. The brunette raises her eyebrows when she sees both brothers looking at her as if she's grown another head. Sam looks at her impressed while Dean looks at her in shock.
The huntress rolls her eyes, "Yeah that's right, I know things." Dean shakes his head, "And this one causes plane crashes?-" the older Winchester brother gets up from the bed "-All right, so, what? We have a demon that's evolved with the times and found a way to ratchet up the body count?"
Juliet and Sam nod their heads, the latter of the two answering. "Yeah. You know, who knows how many planes it's brought down before this one?"
Dean snorts at Sam's words and turns away causing his little brother to furrow his eyebrows in curiosity. "What?" The oldest Winchester brother turns and looks between both Juliet and Sam. "I don't know, guys. This isn't our normal gig. I mean, demons, they don't want anything, just death and destruction for its own sake. This is big and I wish dad was here."
Sam sighs, "Yeah. Me too."
Juliet doesn't say anything and tries to make out like she's doing something else, when in actuality, her stomach is doing flips and not the good kind. She feels like her chest is tightening and her heart is heavy and she feels like she could crack at any moment and burst out with the truth but on the outside she keeps a cool and calm demeanor, a neutral expression on her face, not wanting to let Dean think she's upset because then he will start asking questions, questions that she has the answers to but won't be able to say.
Little does she know, Dean can read her like a book and even when she's not showing it, he knows when something is up. He narrows his green eyes at her suspiciously, not in a shifty way but in a concerned way. The oldest Winchester brother goes to speak but his ringtone playing out stops him. Dean lets out a dejected and frustrated sigh as he answers his phone.
"Hello?"
"Dean, it's Jerry?"
The oldest Winchester brother looks to both Juliet and Sam with a raised eyebrow, motioning for the two to get closer, which they do. Once they are close enough, Dean puts it on speaker.
"Oh, hey, Jerry."
There's a pause on the other end which causes Juliet's eyes to narrow as she hears Jerry take a deep breath.
"My pilot friend...Chuck Lambert is dead."
The three hunters share a look of shock, their eyes screaming with questions but they decide not to voice them. Knowing that they've been silent for too long, Juliet moves closer to the phone.
"Jerry, we're sorry. What happened?"
"He and his buddy went up in a small twin about an hour ago. The plane went down."
Once again, the hunters all share a look. "Where'd this happen?" Jerry is quick to answer Dean's question. "About sixty miles west of here, near Nazareth."
Juliet and Dean share a look, the latter answering. "I'll try and ignore the irony in that."
There's a pause before Jerry replies, confusion lacing his tone. "I-I'm sorry?" Dean shakes his head, even though Jerry can't see it. "Nothing. Jerry, hang in there, all right? We'll catch up with you soon."
Dean then hangs up not waiting for a reply. Sam sighs, "Another crash?" Dean nods his head as he gathers his things before gently waking up Harlow. "Harls, wake up sweetheart. We gotta go."
The little Winchester slowly opens her eyes and lets out a small yawn, "Where we going, daddy?"
Dean gently smiles down at his only child. "Nazareth."
โข โข โข
The impala drives past a road sign reading; Nazareth. Juliet narrows her eyes as she sees black smoke up ahead. She hopes that this time, it'll be easier to look at the plane crash and look for any sulfur that might be at the scene.
Juliet turns to Dean, "Let's just get the sulfur and get the hell out of dodge."
Dean nods his head, agreeing with the huntress. He steps his foot down on the gas.
โข โข โข
Dean, Juliet, Sam and Harlow stand in Jerry's office. Harlow is holding Sam's hand, wanting to be with her Uncle instead of her parents.
Jerry leans over the microscope and peers intently through the eyepiece.
Juliet raises an eyebrow as she shares a look with Dean. She then looks back to Jerry and narrows her eyes as her chocolate brown orbs meet his. "Sulfur?" Jerry nods his head slowly. Dean sighs, "Well, that's great." The oldest Winchester brother looks between Juliet and Sam. "All right, that's two plane crashes involving Chuck Lambert." Juliet nods her head, knowing where Dean's thoughts have gone. "The demon definitely has a thing for him." Dean hums in agreement. "This demon does sound like it was after him."
Sam looks between his brother and best friend, "With all due respect to Chuck, if that's the case, that would be the good news." Dean turns to his brother, "What's the bad news?" Sam sighs, "Chuck's plane went down exactly forty minutes into flight-" Juliet's eyes widen, she is quick to cut Sam off, wincing in apology as she does. "And let me guess, so did the flight 2485?" Sam goes to open his mouth but closes it as his shoulders slump as he lets out a deep sigh. "Yes."
Juliet can't help but laugh at the downsome expression on her best friends face. "Sorry Sammy. Didn't mean to steal your thunder." Sam sends Juliet a small smile as Jerry looks between the three hunters, completely and utterly lost. "Forty minutes? What does that mean?"
Juliet goes to answer but Dean beats her to the punch. "It's biblical numerology. You know Noah's ark, it rained for 40 days. The number means death." Juliet turns her head to look at Dean, her jaw slacked in shock. The hunter smirks at his girlfriend, "Yeah that's right. I know things." Juliet continues to look her boyfriend up and down in shock, not even comprehending Dean throwing her words from earlier back in her face, Sam clears his throat, breaking the huntress from her stupor. The said woman eyes Sam as he speaks. "I went back, and there have been six plane crashes over the last decade that all went down exactly forty minutes in."
Dean raises a curious eyebrow at his little brother. "Any survivors?" Sam shakes his head. "No, or not until now, at least, not until flight 2485, for some reason. On the cockpit voice recorder, remember what the EVP said."
Juliet nods her head. "No survivors." The hunters take a minute to think and before Juliet and Sam come to a conclusion, Dean beats them to it. "It's going after all the survivors." Juliet's eyes widen as something clicks in her brain. "It's trying to finish the job."
The three hunters, plus Harlow, make a hasty exit. Juliet shouting a thanks to Jerry as they do.
โข โข โข
Dean, Juliet, Sam and Harlow are all piled into the Impala, except this time, Juliet sits in shotgun while Sam sits in the back with Harlow. The little Winchester watches as the night sky goes by in a blur as the headlights of the impala is the only source of light to navigate the roads.
Juliet turns down the volume of the song that is playing; Rush's 'Working Man'. The huntress looks at Sammy in the rearview mirror as he wraps up the phone call he is currently having.
"Really? Well, thank you for taking our survey, And if you do plan to fly, please don't forget your friends at United Britannia Airlines. Thanks"
Juliet raises her eyebrows at the last part and shoots Sam a 'really?' look in the rearview mirror. The younger man returns it with a shrug. "All right. That takes care of Blaine Sanderson and Dennis Holloway. They're not flying anytime soon."
Dean nods his head, glancing at Sam in the rearview mirror before looking back to the road. "So our only wildcard is the flight attendant--what's her name?"
Juliet rolls her eyes good-naturedly at Dean. "Amanda Walker, Hon." Dean shoots Juliet a smile of thanks, "Thanks Doll." He then glances at his little brother in the rearview mirror. "Yeah, her." Sam smiles in mirth as he nods his head, "Right. Her sister Karen said her flight leaves Indianapolis at eight pm."
Juliet swivels in her seat and looks at Sam, "It's her first night back on the job, right?" Sam nods his head and Juliet lets out a sigh as she slumps in her seat after turning back 'round to face the front. "Well that's great." Dean nods at the sarcasm lacing her words. "That sounds like just our luck, huh babe?"
Juliet nods her head in agreement. Sam looks between the two, "Guys, this a five-hour drive." He then points his gaze to soley Dean, "Even with you behind the wheel." Juliet smirks from the front, "I bet I could get us there if I was the one drivin'." Dean, Sam and Harlow, in unison, shout in protest.
Juliet looks at the three in shock, "Wh- My driving ain't that bad!" Dean scoffs, begging to differ. "Remember that time I let you drive and you almost crashed the car?" Juliet narrows her eyes as her nose scrunches up like a rabbit. "C'mon, that was one time." Dean just shakes his head, "Sorry, hon. Answers still no." Juliet rolls her eyes at him.
Sam chuckles, seeing the similarities between both mother and daughter. "Doesn't matter who is behind the wheel, we still won't make it."
Dean sighs in the front. "Okay, call Amanda's cellphone again, see if we can't head her off at pass."
Juliet shakes her head, "I've already left her three messages. Her cellphone must be off." Sam shakes his head in the back seat, "God, we're not gonna make it." Juliet smirks at him, "Have a little faith in your brother, Samantha." Dean glances at his younger brother as he steps his foot down on the gas pedal, smirking as the engine of the Impala roars. "We'll make it."
Juliet smiles with warmth as she hears Harlow's squeal from the back.

The family of four rushes into the airport, Juliet checking the departure board while Dean is holding Harlow's hand. Juliet's eyes scan the board until her eyes land on the information she needs. She points it out to her Winchester boys. "There. We have thirty minutes until they board."
The huntress looks to Dean as worry flashes over his face, worry and anxiety. The brunette grabs his right hand, the only hand of his being free, and gives it a tight squeeze, silently reassuring him that she's there with him and that he's not alone.
Dean gives her a smile, feeling his nerves and anxiety deplenish away, but only slightly. The older Winchester brother looks to Sam, worry still flashing in his eyes but not as badly.
"Okay. We still have some cards to play." He starts to look around the airport, searching for something. "We need to find a phone." Juliet sees one, a courtesy phone. The huntress quickly points it out and the three hunters run to it, Dean picking up Harlow as they do.
Dean picks up the phone as soon as it's in reach, he passes Harlow over to Juliet as someone picks up on the other end, "Hi. Gate thirteen." The operator on the other side replies, "Who are you calling, sir?"
"I'm trying to contact an Amanda Walker. She's a flight attendant on flight, um..." Dean trails off and looks to Juliet, who is quick to mouth the number to him. "4-2-4."
Harlow looks around as an announcement rings out through the airport.
"Amanda Walker, Amanda Walker, you have a phone call. White courtesy phone, gate thirteen."
As her father impatiently grips the phone, Harlow looks at him as she feels the worry and urgency roll off of him in waves.
"Come on."
Juliet puffs out a sigh of relief as she hears a woman's voice sound through the speaker of the phone.
"This is Amanda Walker."
Dean also breathes a sigh of relief as he clutches the phone closer to him, making sure every word he speaks can be heard clearly.
"Miss Walker. Hi, this is Dr. James Hetfield from St. Francis Memorial Hospital. We have a Karen Walker here."
"Karen?"
Dean bites his lip as he hears the questioning in her tone of voice. He crosses his fingers, hoping that this story is going to sell.
"Nothing Serious, just a minor car accident, but she was injured, so-"
Dean is cut off by the flight attendant, he winces as he hears the disbelief in her voice.
"Wa-wait, that's impossible. I just got of the phone with her."
Dean pauses as he shares a look with both Juliet and Sam before rolling in his eyes in annoyance.
'Well there's the flaw in that plan.'
"You what?"
"Five minutes ago. She's at her house, cramming for a final. Who is this?"
Dean clears his throat, not expecting his plan to crumble down so quickly, "Uh, well...there must be some mistake."
"And how would you know I was here?"
Sam tries to manouver his way around both Dean and Juliet to try and hear what else is being said, he couldn't hear the convesation after him and Juliet shared that one look.
"Is this Vince's friend?"
Dean chuckles awkwardly as he goes along with being a friend of someone who he had no idea existed until now.
"Guilty as charged."
"Wow. This is unbelievable."
Dean then winces for a second time as he hears the anger pierce through Amanda's every word.
"He's really sorry."
Deam hears Amanda take a deep breath before answering, the anger still detected in her tone. It seems whoever this Vince is, he's a right jerk.
"Well, you tell him to mind his own buisness and stay out of my life, okay?"
Dean sighs but an idea pops into Juliet's head and she is quick to take the phone, passing Harlow back to Dean. "Hi Amanda, this is James Hetfield's girlfriend, Stevie Nicks."
"H-hello?"
Juliet smiles and puts on a friendly voice, "Hi, look, Vince is in a really bad way. I mean, the guy's a mess. It's pathetic, really."
The huntress smirks as she hears the hope in Amanda's voice, thinking she has the flight attendant in her grasp. "Really?" The huntress nods her head even though Amanda can't see it. "Oh, yeah. I mean really bad." She hears Amanda sigh on the other end. "Look, I've got to go. Um...tell him to call me when I land."
Juliet's eyes widen as she shakes her head, cursing herself. "No, no, no. Wait, Amanda."
But it's too late, Amanda has already hung up on the line.
Juliet turns and slams the phone back where it was as she curses under her breath, "Damn it."
Juliet shares a look with Dean, a look that says what the oldest Winchester has been dreading. Sam doesn't see it as he looks between his brother and best friend. "Guys, that plane is leaving with over a hundred passengers on board, and if we're right, that plane is gonna crash."
Dean anxiously looks at his brother as his breathing starts to pick up as he sets Harlow down, knowing where Sam is headed. "I know." Juliet is quick to grab her daughters hand, knowing she likes to run off.
Sam nods his head, not yet noticing his brothers breathlessness, continues, "Okay, so we're getting on the plane, we need to find that demon and exorcise it. I'll get the tickets. You two get whatever you guys can out of the trunk." Sam glances at the security. "Well, whatever that will make it through the security." He then looks back at the two other hunters. "Meet me back here in five minutes."
Juliet looks at Dean as his breathing starts to pick up, he looks to his brother anxiously. It's then, Sam clocks that his brother is having some form of attack. "Are you okay?" Dean shakes his head, "No, not really."
Juliet pulls a face, at least he's being honest. The brunette then rubs Deans back in soothing circles as Sam looks at his, now slighly crouched down, brother. "What? What's wrong?" The oldest Winchester brother looks up at Sam. "Well, I kind of have this problem with, uhh.." Dean trails off and looks to Sam, his brother immediately catches on.
"...Flying?"
Dean stands up a bit straighter as he tries to defend himself, "It's never really been an issue until now." Sam raises an eyebrow at him, "You're joking-" He cuts himself off and looks at Juliet with the same expression. "He's joking, right?" Juliet pulls a face as she shakes her head while still rubbing Deans back, "Believe me, he's not. He's actually afraid of flyin."
Dean cuts in as his anxiety starts to heighten.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" There's a pause from Sam as he assesses Deans face. The older Hunter, seeing this, starts to get annoyed that he's not putting his point across. "Why do you think I drive everywhere, Sam?"
Sam sighs as he looks to Juliet, "All right. Uh, I'll go." Juliet looks up at Sam and nods her head, "I'll go with you." Dean looks between the two like they have both grown another head. "What?" Juliet and Sam look at him, the latter being the one to speak. "We'll do this on our own."
Again, Dean looks between the two, perplexed, "What are you both, nuts? I ain't letting Juliet get herself killed." Dean lowers his voice on the last part. The two best friends share a look before Juliet turns to Dean. "Babe, you're not giving us many options here." Sam nods his head in agreement. "Juliet's right. Dean, we can do it together, or Juliet and I can do this one by ourselves. I'm not seeing a third option, here."
Dean takes a breath as he looks between the hunters, "Come on! Really? Guys.."
Juliet and Sam shoot him a look, the older Winchester brother sighs, reluctantly coming to a decision. Harlow smiles innocently as she grabs her fathers hand. "Dwon't rorry Daddy, I'll be there with you to."
Dean sighs, but manages a smile at his daughters words. "Thanks, baby." He hasn't got the heart to tell her that her words have only brought him more dread and worry.
โข โข โข
Dean, Juliet and Harlow sit on a three chair row, Dean having the aisle seat as Harlow sits between her parents, Sam sits behind them. Dean jumps as a P.A voice sounds through the intercome.
Sam pokes his head between the seats and looks to his brother, who is a mess of anxietly. Juliet watches as Dean reads the safety card over and over again. She reaches over Harlow and grabs his hand, "We've got this, babe." Dean takes in a breath as he nods his head. Sam taps Dean on the shoulder, "Just try to relax." Dean is quick to shoot back, "Just try to shut up."
Juliet rolls her eyes, "Just try to act your ages, both of you." She send both brothers a pointed look.
The plane then takes off, Dean jumping in his seat at every rumble and sound. Sam smirks as Juliet looks at Dean, worry in her eyes. She goes to reach her hand out but backtracks as she sees Harlow grab Deans hand and lean up and kiss his cheek. Juliet smiles sweetly at the scene. Her smile widens as she hears her daughters words.
"It's otay, daddy."
The huntress turns to her daughter, "You got him, Harls?"
The five-year old girl turns to her mother and smiles.
"I've got him, Mommy."
โข โข โข
Dean is leaning back in his seat, gripping both armrests like they are his life line. Dean starts to hum to himself, humming to the tune of a Metallica song. Juliet sits at the window seat, pushing two earbuds in her ears as she sets up her EMF meter.
Sam looks over at his brother. "You're humming Metallica?" Dean turns to him and nods his head, "Calms me down." Harlow looks up at her father with a smile on her face, her little hand still holding Deans right one.. "It cawms me down to." Dean sends her a strained smile while Sam sends her a relaxed one. The younger Winchester brother turns to Dean and lowers his voice, "Look, man, I get you're nervous, all right? But you got to stay focused."
Dean takes a deep breath as he tries to calm down his anxiety. "Okay."
Sam nods at his brother, "I mean, we got thirty-two minutes and counting to track this thing down, or whoever it's possessing, anyway, and perform a full-on exorcism." Dean looks around at the other people on the plane before turning back to Sam. "Yeah, on a crowded plane. That's gonna be easy."
Juliet takes her right earbud out of her ear and turns to Dean, reaching her hand out and putting it on his knee in comfort. "Just take it one step at a time babe, you're an experienced hunter, a professional. You can do this."
Sam pats Dean on the shoulder, "Juliet is right, Dean. Who is it possessing?"
Deam takes a deep breath and he sighs in relief as his anxiety starts to calm down. "It's usually gonna be somebody with some sort of weakness, you know, a chink in the armor that the demon can worm through. Somebody with an addiction or some sort of emotional distress." Juliet smiles at Dean, "Good job, babe." The hunter returns the smile tenfold.
Sam nods his head, "Well, this is Amanda's first flight after the crash. If I were her, I'd be pretty messed up."
Dean hums in agreement as Juliet nods her head, "I agree with you on that one Sammy." Juliet watches as Dean spots a flight attendant. He smiles at her politely. "Excuse me. Are you Amanda?" The flight attendant shakes her head with a confused frown. "No, I'm not." Dean nods his head, a sheepish and embarrased smile on his face. "Oh, my mistake." The random flight attendant, who is NOT Amanda, looks him up and down with a raised eyebrow. "Mm-hm." She then scurries off down the aisle.
Juliet, having seen the interaction, tries to restrain her smile. Dean sees it and goes to point it out but a flash of blonde hair catches Juliet's eyes and she cuts him off before her can speak. "Hey, look in the back over there." Juliet's words get both Sam and Dean's attention. Once both sets of eyes are looking where Juliet is pointing, the huntress continues, "That's got to be Amanda back there." Dean nods his head, "I'll go and talk to her." Juliet watches with narrowed eyes as Dean struggles to get up from his seat due to the plane shaking, she bites her lip before standing up, "Maybe I should go do it. Here, hold this." She proceeds to hand over her EMF meter to Dean. "You can be in charge of that while I go and talk to Amanda." Dean smiles and puts one earbud in his ear, leaving his left one free to hear.
"I'll go get a read of her mental state and come back here."
The huntress goes to move but before she can move an inch more, Sam stands up and holds a hand out, stopping Juliet. The Sullivan descendant raises an eyebrow at her best friend. Sam seeing this, huffs out a breath of air. "Wait, what if she's already possessed?" Juliet furrows her eyebrows, "There are ways to test that, y'know?" The huntress dips her hands into the pocket of her jacket and discreetly pulls out a Virgin Mary-shaped bottle of water. "I have my Holy water."
Sam gives her a look, "No." The younger Winchester brother looks around at the people seated on the plane before quickly snatching the bottle from Juliet's hands and stuffing it inside his hoodie. The 23 year old hunter looks down at her now empty hands and then toย Sam with narrowed eyes.
"What was that for?"
"I think we can go more subtle. If she's possessed, she'll flinch at the name of God."
Juliet smiles and clicks her finger, pointing at her best friend. "Oh, nice." Juliet turns to go but groans when Sam stops her once more. "Hey." The brunette turns around and faces Sam, one of her eyebrows raised. "What?" The tallest Winchester brother smiles, "Say it in Latin." Juliet rolls her eyes, "I know, Sam." She goes to leave once more but sighs as Sam's voice stops her once more. The brown-haired huntress tries to refrain from punching her friend in the face. She looks at him and grits her teeth, "What do you want now?!" Sam smiles at her sheepishly, a little scared of the expression Juliet has on her face. "Uh, in Latin, it's Cristo." Sam winces as Juliet sends him a look that would put him six feet under if looks could kill. "I know that! Who do you think I am, Dean?! I'm not an idiot."
The said man looks up at her, a pout on his lips. "Hey!" Juliet sends him a small smile, "Sorry." She then goes to leave for a fourth time, she sighs in relief as Sam doesn't stall her anymore. Although, the young adult does thump an empty plane seat in anger. Sam sucks air through his teeth as he sees this. Dean turns to his brother, a frown on his face.
"Way to go, Sam. Now you've pissed her off."
โข โข โข
Juliet makes her way towards Amanda and walks into the back as the Co-Pilot makes an announcement. The brown-haired huntress watches as the blonde flight attendant is making a fuss over the drink cart and napkins.
"Hi."
Amanda whips around at the sound of Juliet's voice. The blonde smiles politely. "Hi. Can I help you with something?" Juliet puts on a smile. "No, it's okay. My husband is just a bit of an unasy flier. I was just getting him a glass of water, calm him down.." Amanda nods her head in understanding, the smiles still on her face. "Oh, it happens to the best of us." Juliet chuckles, "Of course, with you being a stewardess, I guess flyin' come easy to you."
Amanda laughs as she stops folding the napkins to give Juliet her full attention, not wanting to be rude.
"You'd be surprised."
Juliet feigns a curious expression, "Really? You a nervous flier? I can't see it." Amanda nods her head, "Yeah, maybe, little bit." Juliet tilts her head and fakes innocence. "How is that, being a stewardess, you're scared to fly?"
Amanda, internally closes up, and looks down as flashes of the crash start to plague her mind. "Kind of a long story." Juliet immediately curses herself for being too invasive. "My big mouth doesn't know when to stop, sorry for asking."
A smile returns back on the blondes face. "It's okay."
The hunter raises an eyebrow, "You ever think of other employment?"
Amands shakes her head, "No. Look, everybody's scared of something. I just, uh...I'm not gonna let it hold me back." Juliet nods her head, storing those words in her head to repeat back to Dean in times when he needs encouragement. "Huh."
There's an awkward silence between the two women. Amanda looks up at the brunette, an eyerbow raised in question. "So...?"
"Cristo."
Juliet 'clears her throat' and utters the Latin word. Amanda looks at her in curiosity. "I'm sorry. Did you say something." Juliet internally sighs as she speaks up, "Christo?" The blonde flight attendant looks at the brunette hunter, utterly perplexed. "I-I didn't, I didn't..." Juliet, a bit embarrassed, avoids eye contact. "Yeah, doesn't matter. Nevermind."
Amanda watches as the huntress rushes away, forgetting about the glass of water. The flight attendant blinks in confusion. "Okay..." She then goes back to fussing over the drinks and napkins for the passengers.
Juliet rushes back to her seat and updates Sam and Dean on her interaction with Amanda.
"That woman has got to be the most well-adjusted person on the planet."
Sam turns to Juliet, "You said 'Cristo'?" The huntres nods her head, "Yup." The younger Winchester brother gives her a look, "And?" The brunette turns to him, "And, nothing. There's no demon in her and there is certainly no demon getting in her, either.
Sam sighs, "So, if it's on the plane, it can be anyone. Anywhere." Juliet takes a peek at all the people sitting around her and her family, analyzing every person to see if any of them has a weakness. She's distracted, however, when the plane starts to rumble, Juliet's eyes immediately lock on Harlow as the little Winchester screams and curls into Dean, the said man looks at Juliet as he is quick to grab her and hold her and his daughter to him tightly. "Come on! That can't be normal."
Sam moves to Dean and puts his hand on his brothers shoulder. "Hey, hey, it's just a bit of turbulence." Juliet pulls a face at Sam's way of comforting his brother. Her brown eyes then move to Harlow's small frame. Her motherly instincts kick in and she brushes her fingers through Harlow's hair. "It's okay, baby. Like Uncle Sammy said, it's just turbulence."
Dean hisses at his little brother, "Sam, this plane is going to crash, okay? So quit treating me like I'm Harlow's age." He keeps his voice low, so Harlow doesn't hear him. Sam narrows his eyes at Dean, "You need to calm down." Dean returns the look and narrows his candy-apple green eyes back at Sam. "Well, I'm sorry I can't." Sam rolls his eyes, "Yes, you can." Dean starts to become aggitated. "Dude, stow the touchly-feely, self-help yoga crap, it's not helping." Sam, getting frustrated, groans at his brother. "Listen, if you panick, you're wide open to demonic possession, so you need to calm yourself down. Right now."
Juliet stands up from attending to Harlow, making sure her daughter is okay. She turns to Dean. "Sammy's right, babe. You're no help to anyone if you get possessed."
Taking in both his brother and girlfriend's words, Dean pauses and takes in a deep breath, a long and slow deep breath. Sam nods his head, relief flooding through him now the chances of Dean getting possessed are slim. "Good. Now, I found an exorcism in here that I think is gonna work-" He points to a page in John's notebook, or more spefically an exorcism rite. "-The Rituale Romanum."
Juliet nods her head, "Okay, what do we have to do?" Sam glances between Dean and Juliet before reading the page from the journal. "It's two parts. The first part expels the demon from the victims body. It makes it maifest, which actually makes it more powerful." Dean looks to his brother, hoping he just misheard him. "More powerful?" Sam nods his head in confirmation, "Yeah." Juliet furrows her eyerbrows. "How?" Her best friend glances back down at the page he is reading before answering the huntres. "Well, it doesn't need to possess someone anymore. It can just wreak havoc on its own."
Dean furrows his eyerbrows in confusion, "Oh. And why is that a good thing?"
"Well, because the second part sends the bastard back to hell once and for all."
Juliet turns to look between both of the Winchester brothers. "I like it, but there's just one thing we gotta do first, we gotta find the son of a bitch." Juliet holds her hand out to Dean, wanting her EMF meter back. The hunter complies and gives the brunette back her possession.
The three hunter then start to walk down the plane aisle, trying to find a trace of EMF. Harlow remains in her seat, listening to a Led Zeppelin cassette tape on the walkman -with her headphones on- that Dean has given to her. Juliet tries to ignore the odd looks she gets from the people who are watching her. She sighs as she gets nothing, she looks up and smirks as she starts to form a plan as soon as she sees that Dean's back is turned towards her. The huntress decides to have a little fun of her own, she creeps towards Dean and tries to hold in her laughter as she claps him on the back, making the older Winchester brother jump in fright.
"Ah."
He quickly turns around and glares as he sees Juliet laughing her ass off.
"Don't do that! It's not funny."
Juliet recollects herself and points at Dean's face, "Oh, it is. You shoulda seen your face." Dean just huffs in annoyance. Sam walks up to the two of them, "Anything?" The two shake their heads as Dean replies. "No, nothing. How much time we got?" Sam checks his watch before replying. "Fifteen minutes. Maybe we missed somebody." Dean shrugs his shoulders, "Maybe the thing's just not on the plane." Juliet raises an eyebrow at her boyfriend. "You really believe that?" Dean comtemplates his answer. "Well, I will if you guys will."
Juliet goes to reply when her EMF meter starts to spike out of thin air, Dean and Juliet share a glance before looking up as the Co-Pilot exits the bathroom stall. The two hunters watch as he walks down towards the cockpit. Sam looks at the two, having noticed their little exchange. "What? What is it?"
Neither of the two reply, Juliet instead swallows the lump in her throat and plucks up the courage to say the same words she whispered under her breath earlier...
"Cristo."
A shiver crawls down her spine as the demon makes eye contact with her, except this time, his eyes are as black as night. The possessed Co-Pilot turns back and walks through the door to the cockpit. The three hunters share a look with one another. Juliet smirks as she looks back to the door that the possessed Co-Pilot has just walked through.
"Bingo."

Dean and Juliet head to the back of the plane, the latter of the two asking Sam to stay with Harlow so she's not left alone. Dean almost falls over as the plane shakes once more. Juliet quickly grabs onto his hand and holds it tightly. The father of her child smiles in thanks. The hunter then looks towards their destination, Amanda. Dean sighs, "She's not gonna believe us or this."
Juliet glances at him, "It's the only option we have left. We have twelve minutes, hon."
They approach the blonde flight attendant who clocks them with a smile on her face, she recongnizes Juliet from earlier, she moves her eyes to Dean and assumes that he must be her husband.
"Oh, hi, Flight's not too bumpy for your husband, I hope."
Dean smiles as he wraps an arm around Juliet's waist, loving how Juliet had told Amanda that he was her husband. "Actually, that's kind of what we need to talk to you about." Juliet walks over to the curtain and shuts it, she sends Sam a glance before she does. The huntress then turns back to Dean and Amanda, the latter of the two having an uncertain expression on her face.
"Um, okay. What can I do for you?"
Juliet smiles as she pulls a face before delving straight into it, no point walking around it. "All right, this is gonna sound crazy, like the nuts sort of crazy, but we don't have enough time for the whole 'What goes bump in the night' kinda conversation right now, that and this is literally our only option left."
Knowing that she's starting to ramble, Dean gently puts a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from going off on a spiel. He turns his head back to Amanda, "All right, look, we know you were on flight 2845." And just like that, the smile drops from Amanda's face. It's then Sam comes through the curtain, shutting it behind him. The blonde flight attendant eyes all three of them. "Who are you guys?"
Sam cuts in, having a feeling that Dean and Juliet have gotten Amanda up to date. "Now, we've spoken to some other survivors. We know something bought down that plane and it wasn't a mechanical failure." Dean nods his head, "We need your help because we need to stop it from happening again. Here. Now."
Amanda shrinks back at seeing the serious expression on Dean's face. She tries to brush past Juliet and Dean but the former gently holds her hands out, stopping the blonde slowly, not wanting to scare her. "Woah, woah, woah, woah. Wait a second. We're not gonna hurt you, okay? But listen to me, the pilot in 2845, Chuck Lambert. He's dead."
Amanda's eyes widen in shock as she processes Juliet's words. She looks between the three hunter before looking down and then back up at Juliet. "Wait. What? What, Chuck is dead?" Juliet nods her head, "I'm sorry, but he died in a plane crash." Juliet then furrows her eyebrows. "Now, that's two plane crashes in two months. That doesn't strike you as strange?"
Amanda shakes her head, having too much to process. "I-"
Sam looks at the flight attendant with a pleading and desperate look on his face. "Look, there was something wrong with 2485. Now maybe you sensed it, maybe you didn't. But there's something wrong with this flight, too." Juliet nods her head as she looks at the blonde woman. "Amanda, please. You have to believe us."
Theres' a pause before Amanda nods her head. Juliet sighs in relief asย Amanda starts to open up about what she saw on that flight. "On...on 2845, there was this man. He...had these eyes." Sam nods his head, "Yes, That's exactly what we're talking about." Amanda furrows her eyebrows at the three hunters. "I don't understand, what are you asking me to do?" Dean takes a breath, "Okay. The Co-Pilot, we need you to bring him back here."
Amanda shakes her head, confused. "Why? What does he have to do with anything?" Juliet's anxiety starts to go up, they're running out of time. She's starting to become impatient. "We don't have the time to explain. We just need to talk to him, it's important. Okay?" Amanda raises her eyebrows, "How am I supposed to go in the cockpit and get the Co-Pilot-"
Sam cuts her off, the urgency clear in his voice. "Do whatever it takes. Tell him there's something broken back here, whatever will get him out of that cockpit."
Amanda hesitates. "Do you know that I could lose my job if you-"
Dean sighs, starting to become impatient as well. "Okay, well you're gonna lose a lot more if you don't help us out." The blonde flight attendant hesitates once more, "Okay."
The three hunters let out a sigh of relief as Amanda leaves and goes to the cockpit. As she knocks on the cockpit door, Juliet meets her daughters eyes, with a one hand motion, Juliet silently tells Harlow to quickly come over to them, the five year old does.
Dean and Juliet crouch down to their daughters height as Sam keeps an eye onย Amanda. Juliet smiles at her daughter as, with a nod of her head, she motions to a little cubby hole thats just big enough to fit Harlow inside. "Here's the plan sweetie. Me, your Dad and Uncle are gonna have a few words with the Co-pilot and you're gonna hide over there."
Harlow nods her head, knowing that when her parents are serious, she can't mess it up. Dean smiles at his only daughter, "I want you to put you headphones on and listen to Led Zeppelin until me or your mother come and get you, okay?"
Harlow nods her head. She watches as her parents look at each other as they hear Amanda's voice coming back with way, followed by a much deeper one. Dean quickly motions for Harlow to get inย the cubby hole, he smiles as he sets the headphones on her ears and presses play on the walkman. Dean uses the trolly to hide her.
The three hunters hide as they hear the demons voice. "Yeah, what's the problem?"
Before Amanda can reply, Juliet comes out from her hiding spot and punches the demons meat suit square in the face, she smirks as the demon leans back in surprise. Dean uses that as his opportunity to pin the demon down as Juliet duct tapes his mouth shut.
Amanda looks at the hunters in shock. "Wait. What are you doing? You said you were just gonna talk to him." Juliet looks up at the blonde-haired woman, a smile on her face. "We are gonna talk to him." She smiles as she takes her Holy water bottle back from Sam. She opens it and smirks as she splashes the demon with it, causing it to move around in pain. There's an unexplainable glint in her eyes as she watches the demons meat suit sizzle when the Holy water makes contact.
Amanda, having seen what's happened, covers her mouth in shock. "Oh, my God. What's wrong with him?"
Sam turns to the shocked and confused flight attendant, his softer and emotional side coming out. "Look. We need you calm. We need you outside the curtain." Amanda looks at the taller Winchester brother in shock, "Well, I don't underst- I don't know." Sam gently leads her towards the curtain and guides her outside. "Don't let anybody in, Okay? Can you do that? Amanda?"
The said blond woman nods her head, "Okay. Okay." The flight attendant then leaves, leaving Dean, Juliet and Sam to deal with the possessed Co-Pilot. Dean looks over at his brother as Juliet tries her best to help him restrain the demon. "Hurry up, Sam. I don't know how much longer we can hold him."
Sam quickly flicks to the page in John's Journal that he had marked. His eyes scan the page before coming upon the ritual he needs.
"Regna terrae, cantate Deo, psallite Domino-"
Juliet yelps as the demon briefly breakes free of her and Dean's hold on him. The demon hits them both but the hunter and huntress quickly come back around and both manage to get the upper hand on him once again. Sam picks up from where he left off but before he can resume, the demon breaks free once again, he knocks both Dean and Juliet off of him and pulls the tape from his mouth. Juliet scurries back as the demon grabs Sam by the collar .
"I know what happened to your girlfriend! She must have died screaming! Even now, she's burning!"
Sam sits there, stunned as Juliet recovers from the blow and quickly hits the demon. She looks down at Sam, who is just sitting there. She watches as Dean, who has also recovered, pins the demon back down. Seeing that he's struggling, Juliet jumps on top of the demon, helping her boyfriend out. Juliet looks back to Sam with wide eyes as she sees him still just sitting there. "Sam!"
Her voice breaks him from his thoughts as he rushes to pick up the book and resumes reading the rest of the exorcism. Seeing that Juliet and Dean pinning him the demon down isn't enough, he jumps into help. The demon kicks the book away. Juliet, seeing this, looks up at her best friend with worry in her eyes. Sam looks back at her and nods his head with confidence. "I got him."
The demon then exits the meat suit and Juliet watches as the black smoke slithers through the vents like a python.
Breathless, Juliet looks between the two Winchester brothers. The taller brother out of the two looks around. "Where'd it go?"
Dean and Juliet share a glance before looking back to Sam, the former out of the two answering, "It's in the plane. Hurry up. We got to finish it." Juliet rushes over to Harlow's hiding spot as Sam and Dean chase after the demon. She rolls the trolly covering the cubby hole, out of the way. She grabs her daughters hand and helps her daughter out of the hiding spot before walking over to Amanda. Juliet passes her daughter over to Amanda. "Look after my daughter." Amanda nods her head as Juliet rushes after her Winchester boys.
Just as Juliet reaches the boys, the plane suddenly dips down causing her to grab hold of the back of a plane chair to keep herself upright. She tries to keep down her motion sickness as the plane dips and heaves violently. She watches as Sam struggles to get a grip on John's journal as Dean splays himself against the door in fear. Juliet tries and bites her lip as despite the situation, she can't help but find Dean screaming his head off a little bit funny.
Juliet moves towards the book with wobbly feet and grabs the book and slides it towards Sam. "Here!" Sam grabs ahold of it and smiles at her in thanks before opening the book and finishing the exorcism. Juliet watches as a bright electrical charge runs through the entire airplane. She sighs with relief as the plane levels out.
Juliet watches as various people ask if everyone's okay. Amanda sighs in relief as she watches Harlow run over to her family. She smiles as she sees Juliet engulf Harlow in a hug. The blond haired flight attendant watches as the mother and daughter make their way towards Sam and Dean. She surveys the scene with a smile as both Juliet and Harlow wrap Dean up in a hug as he and Sam come out from behind the curtain.

Dean, Juliet, Sam and Harlow stand in the airport. Harlow is asleep in Dean's arms, tuckered out from all that's happend tonight. The hunters watch as the passengers from the flight are disembarking to the part of the airport which is swarmed with uniformed agents. The once possessed Co-pilot is now sitting in a wheelchair with a blanket wrapped around him for the shock. He's being questioned by a FAA agent. Amanda is also being questioned by an agent. The blonde haired woman turns and sees the three hunters standing there, she mouths a 'Thank you.'
Dean, Juliet and Sam nod their heads in reply. The oldest Winchester brother turns to his girlfriend and younger brother, holding his hand out to the former of the two. "Let's go." Juliet smiles as she takes his hand, interlocking their fingers. The three hunters and a sleeping Harlow head for the exit. Dean turns to Sam, "You okay?" Sam stops and turns to his family. "Guys, it knew about Jessica."
Juliet sighs, "Sammy, these things, they read minds. They lie. All right. I can promise you that's all it was, a lie."
Sam seems to calm down at hearing Juliet's words. "Yeah."
The two hunters smile at him as Juliet rubs his back in comfort. "Come on."

The hunters with an awake Harlow meet Jerry at the airport the next day. Jerry looks at the three, grateful. "Nobody knows what you guys did, but I do. A lot of people could have been killed." He smiles as he shakes their hands. "John's gonna be real proud."
Juliet smiles at him as Dean starts to walk off. "Anytime, Jerry. Look after yourself, won't ya?" The said man smiles as he jokingly salutes her. "Yes, ma'am." Harlow then goes in and hugs Jerry. "Bye, mister." Jerry smiles as he hugs the little girl back with a chuckle. "See ya, kid." Harlow giggles as she runs back to Juliet.
Dean pauses in his steps and makes his way back to Jerry, a question on his mind. "You know, Jerry." The said man looks up at the hunter. "Yeah."
"I meant to ask you, how did you get mine and Juliet's cellphone numbers, anyway? I've only had mine for like six months and Jules hardly gives her number out to anyone."
"Your Dad gave it to me."
Sam looks at Jerry in shock, "What?" Dean narrows his eyes at him. "When did you talk to him?" Jerry shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders, "I mean, I didn't exactly talk to him, but I called his number. His voice message said to give one of you two a call. Thanks again, guys."
Jerry then leaves as the hunters share a look with one another.

The hunters are all gathered 'round the impala, Dean sits on the hood of the impala, Juliet sitting next to him with Harlow on her lap while Sam stands on Dean's other side. Sam shakes his head, "This doesn't make any sense, guys. I've called Dad's number like fifty times. It's been out of service."
Dean ignores Sam and Juliet watches as he dials John's number into his cellphone and presses the call button. He has it so it's on loud speaker so Juliet and Sam can hear. The phone rings before John's voice message comes through.
"This is John Winchester. I can't be reached. If this is an ememrgency, call my son, Dean. 785-555-0179. And if you can't reach him call my goddaughter, Juliet. 785-401-9138. They can help."ย Sam fumes with anger as Dean hangs up the phone. Juliet and him watch as Sam gets into the car and slams the door shut behind him.
Dean and Juliet share a glance before follwing after Sam and getting into the car. Juliet bites her lip as she straps Harlow in her booster seat. She's starting to feel like it's getting out of hand. She needs to tell Dean the truth, but she can't. She has to hang on for a little longer.
Once everyone is all set, Dean drives off with music playing through the speakers.

Authors Note
And that's a wrap for the last chapter of 'Phantom Traveler'. I hope you enjoyed it.
I won't be able to write for a week as I will have no wifi as my sister is going away for a week and taking her hotspot with her, meaning she's taken my only form of wifi away with her.
If some of you are feeling robbed from not having a flash back scene of Juliet driving the impala and almost crashing 'Baby', don't worry I plan on writing it as a oneshot in my oneshot book for this series, the book isn't out yet as I feel like it's too early to post it.
Please let me know what you thought of this chapter, it is a long one so I hope you enjoy.
Please don't forget to vote and comment! I love replying to y'alls comments, actually makes my day.
Keep on being amazing, I will see you all in the next chapter.
Until then, my loves
