Chapter Twenty : King's Landing

Welcome to King's Landing ( a few days later)

King's Landing was truly something as the young ice dragon as she looked around curiously.

Through the smell was foul as they entered through the small town, Lyarra continued on. She had not expected to encounter that many orphans since the population of the North was less than the capital's. She learned from the recent census that her home was still the most sparsely populated region in the continent.

"Why did you bring me here?" Sansa had asked.

"Sansa, a queen has to get to know her people. A lady is not just for birthing heirs, she is a leader too."

"And yet men like Joffrey put them down every time."

Arya rolled her eyes at her sister's statement.

"If that was how you felt all along, why did you side with him? Lady would still be alive if you were not so pretentious!"

Sansa was very much hurt by her direwolf's death, but she simply had to knock some sense into her Arya's skull.

"We were not in the North when the fight happened. People living South of the Neck have to be good liars because everyone wants to hurt each other for an iron chair that isn't even comfortable to sit on."

"We argue from time to time, it's just that we don't see as much of it back home." Lyarra added.

Arya nodded and followed her siblings to the orphanage.

As the sisters entered the orphanage they looked around and saw sickly children everywhere most of them looked dirty and had torn clothes.

It pains the young ice dragon to see such innocent pure children living in environments like this.

Back at home, the eldest Stark made it her mission to take great care of her people and would always visit winter town three times a week much to her mother's protests.

It was her duty as their lady to care for them, every lady and lord had duty as well as kings and queen which doesn't include provided heirs and ruling but to care for their people.

If there was no people who would they rule over, the people were a key part to a kingdom and was very important.

Commoners didn't ask for much all they asked for was a good living condition, plenty of food and fair rules but not ever ruler was kind or gentle.

For instance, King Aerys The Mad King he would burn enemies or traitors with wildfire and laughed as they screamed, rumor has it that he even beat his own pregnant daughter Princess Shaena who had ridden to King's Landing heavily pregnant with her Uncle Brandon's child.

She had pleaded her father to spare her husband and good father but her father had just laughed at her and made her watch as her husband turned to dust before having his guards beat her and throw her in the dark cells for being a traitor to the crown.

Footsteps began to approach and an older woman walked toward them.

" My ladies " the woman said coming towards them bowing.

" Is it always like this " Lyarra spoke up looking around in disbelief.

" Yes, my lady the crown has to fund more important things like their grand feasts, tourney and the king himself likes to drink a lot most of the crown's finances goes to wine and hunts " the caregiver said.

" But what about The Queen she's a Lannister and Lannisters are rich why don't they do something about the poor living condition " Sansa spoke up confused at why The Queen sat and did nothing while thousands of children starved to death.

" Because The Queen is a golden trout she doesn't care about anyone but herself " Arya hissed.

" Arya " Sansa exclaimed.

" What, can we do to help " Lyarra asked.

" There's not much you can do "the old woman mumbled

" We can try what do you need for them " Arya pipe up.

" Well, clothes and food we need very badly the children are growing quite ill from starvation " the woman exclaimed sadly.

" Done, we'll collect the items by the end of the week " Lyarra smiled before stepping out of the orphanage.

" Don't tell me we're going back there again " Sansa exclaimed.

" We are if no one is going to help these children then we are " Lyarra said.

" Yeah, we can't just sit around and do nothing " Arya added.

" I am sure if we talked to The King and Queen they would helped we should stay out of this and besides it's dangerous roaming around in the town along The Queen warns " Sansa mumbled.

" We are high born ladies we shouldn't be out here in the mud and dirt with commoners and now looked my new dress is ruined " Sansa signed annoyed as she saw dirt and mud at the end of her dress.

" How, can you be so selfish do you truly not understand the meaning of humbleness " Lyarra scoffed.

" Don't waste your breath on her Lya, all our sweet little naive sister cares about is being Queen and putting on a good performance for that golden shit prince " Arya snarled.

" Don't call him that " Sansa hissed.

" Why, are you defending him sister he's not a good person he's cruel and one day he'll turn the tables on you and show you his real colors " Lyarra exclaimed.

" Why are you so jealous of me I don't understand what I ever did to you to make you despises me " Sansa cried out.

" I am trying to protect you I am trying to get you to understand that the south is dangerous I told you how people are and how you shouldn't trust anyone but family " Lyarra mumbled.

" Well, you're wrong Joffrey may be a difficult person but there's another side to him you'll see " Sansa said and what that she made her way back to the wagon.

" Stupid girl " Arya snorted.

" No, naive girl " Lyarra signed she knew no matter what she did Sansa wouldn't listen to her so she had to leave her alone and let her little sister come to her.

As Lyarra was settling in to her chambers, Samara helped her unpacked her items, a knock on the door causing them to stop for a moment.

The two friends glanced at one another wondering who could be at the door, " Who is it " Lyarra yelled.

" Little Ice Wolf it's me can I come in I have some important to tell you " Jaime said from outside.

" What do I do " Lyarra whispered looking back at her friend for guidance.

" Don't let him in remember what happened last time " Samara warned.

Lyarra nodded before clearing her throat and found her voice once more, " I'm indisposed at the moment can you come back at another time "

" Little ice wolf there's nothing that I haven't seen before " Jaime exclaimed causing Lyarra to gasp out in disgust.

" He's quite a wanton man for you " Samara commented her nose scrunching up in disgust at hear the knight's words.

" Again, I am not dressed at the moment I am afraid whatever you have to tell me will have to wait at dinner tonight " Lyarra said.

" Alright, little ice wolf see you at dinner " Jaime groaned annoyed before walking away angrily that once again his betrothal was refusing him but this was the last time he would let her freeze him out.

Dinner was a small affair which Lyarra was grateful she didn't want to meet or face new people unfortunately she was seated next to Jaime by request by The Queen who said it would do well for the two to get to know one another which caused the young ice dragon to be suspicious a bit.

A few days ago, The Queen was doing everything in her power to keep her away from Jaime and try to kill her.

Samara had informed her those bandits were sent by The Queen which didn't surprised her at all.

Much to her displeasure, Samara couldn't eat with them her father had said it was just their family along with the royal family to dine alone.

Now, as Lyarra was messing around with the food on her plate next to her sat Arya who was doing the same the two weren't use to dinning in quietness.

"You haven't eaten anything, My Ladies. Is there a problem with the food?" Jaime asked.

"No. If only you could keep your hands off my sister!" Arya exclaimed, noticing that the Golden Knight had wrapped his arm around Lyarra 's waist tightly.

"Arya!" both Ned and Sansa exclaimed. Truth be told, they felt the same way, but they couid not articulate that in front of the Queen.

"That tongue of hers should be cut off-"

"Quiet, woman! Ned, have you tried to teach that child manners?" Robert asked.

"Well..."

"The Septa tried to, Your Majesty. My sister simply has a mind of her own." Sansa covered for her father while giving Arya a steen glare. Not feeling hungry at all, she stormed out of the room, mumbling something about a crow spirit.

She really tends to follow warriors' habits.

Back in her chambers, the young she-wolf was undoing her complicated hairstyle when a feather touched her shoulder. She whirled around, finding Fuyutsuki standing in her room's balcony.

"Tsuki! Where were you off to?"

"Essoss. I had to get something from Asshari."

"Did you ever... pass by Kamakura?"

Spirit of the White Knife, this she wolf really hit me where it hurt

Thankfully, Sansa barged into the room before the warrior couid answer that question.

"Ser Suguwara, could I have a moment with my sister please?" she requested.

The man nodded and exited the room. He knew that he should not have left the Stark sisters on their own, but he realised that screaming came from the door he just walked out of.

He just hoped Arya would be safe there.

"You know that the Queen will not forgive you for that." Sansa stated. She was going to tell her sister, even if it hurt her to do so.

"The Queen this, the Queen that. You've always looked forward to

"FOR ONCE ARYA, LISTEN TO ME!

It's done, the tame wolf has snapped. There was a long silence in the room, Sansa out of surprise and Arya out of shame.

" The Queen is a cruel woman she is the reason why Lady died, I know that now. I don't want marry Joffrey, not after what I noticed about him at the Welcoming Feast, and the confirmation during that fight near the river.

Remember, the king is there and he gets what he wants, end of discussion. Sister, please learn to hold your tongue here, it might get you killed. I have lost my direwolf, I can't lose you too. "

Arya looked at her sister . She did not have any words for that plea, and the fact that Sansa had been carrying the pressure for so long only made her heart ache. With Lyarra's wedding on the horizon, it was 'perfect' Sansa's turn to carry the torch. Soon, she will be will have to do the same, as much a she loathed it.

"I will try, for you. "

"Thank you, Arya."

Sansa proceeded to help her sister undo what was left of her hairstyle, that she herself finding them distasteful. This was not how Starks were supposed to look, they were meant to be wild, like what Lyarra said all those years ago.

Suddenly, a candle lit up in her head.

Where was Ser Suguwara when he was needed?

Meanwhile

The young ice dragon began to felt uncomfortable by Jaime's hands around her waist and decided to make a run for it.

Lyarra stood up, wanting to go comfort her sister but Sansa had already ran after Arya. She knew this was not a good sign, made even worse that Jaime had stopped her from going any further.

" Your graces, I should probably check up on my sister may I take my leave " Lyarra spoke up.

"No, you may not. I'm sure the Red Wolf has her reasons for going after that beast." Cersei replied.

Lyarra let out a sigh she didn't want to be here any minute long.

" Why are so determined to hide away from me little ice wolf we are to be married soon it would do well for us to accommodate with one another better " Jaime whispered lowerly in her ear

" We are not married yet Ser " Lyarra whispered back harshly.

Suddenly, The King started to called her name out, " Lady Lyarra, I hear from my daughter that you can sing and play the harp very well " The King slurred out.

" Um, I am not that good your grace " Lyarra mumbled.

" Sing us a tone " The King commanded.

" That would be lovely perhaps I could join in with you " Myrcella beamed happily.

Laughing began to ring out from Prince Joffrey's mouth, " Sister you sound like a sheer cat meowing "

" Shut up " Myrcella hissed.

" Myrcella, don't talk to your brother like that I am sure he didn't mean to hurt your feelings " Cersei said glaring at her daughter with a scold look.

" He always hurts me emotional and physically I am sick of be his punching bag the same with Tommen " The young princess snarled.

"We will never be good enough for you will we, Mother?" Myrcella bitterly said. Tommen looked up from his food, shocked. He never expected his sweet sister to snap and growl.

"You have always paid more attention to Joffrey, he was your firstborn, your golden son. I have done my best to be the daughter you would be proud of all this time. Tommen, poor Tommen has sought your affections ever since he couid walk! You didn't even give him a chance to train in swordsmanship.

He has always wanted to be a Knight, along with Bran Stark. I have looked up to you for so long, but when Lady Lyarra came along, I realised just how horrible of a mother and a ruler you are.

" How dare you speak to me like that I am your mother " Cersei yelled.

" Don't pay them any attention mother they are just jealous I'll be king one day and I'll be the most bravest skilled warrior out of every king " Joffrey exclaimed.

" Tell me brother does a king cry like a little girl when he is strike across the face by his target " Myrcella commented.

Anger and humiliation formed on the eldest Prince's face, " How dare you speak to your future king like that sister " Joffrey yelled picking his knife and pointing it directly at his sister's chest.

" You are no king yet " Robert laughed.

" Joffrey, please " Cersei pleaded holding onto Joffrey's arms.

Joffrey shocked her off harshly and stalked out of the room in anger, Cersei following after him.

Two servants came into the room afterwards bringing two chairs toward the center of the room.

She went up to the platform with Lyarra, her harp in her arms and started to sing "Two Hearts that Beat as One" along with Lyarra.

Contrary to what Joffrey said, she had a melodious voice on pair with Sansa's. Tommen smiled as he listened to the performance. He had often watched Myrcella rehearse, and it clearly payed off.

Lady Lyarra was quite the beautiful singer just like his sister but her voice was more angelic and gentle.

Ned listened in and a smile formed on his face his niece was much like Shaena in some may ways who also caught on this was A certain golden lion knight who sat there listening in with a smile on his face.

He had heard from Tryion that she was quite the singer she had a voice so angelic and gentle that reminded him of Princess Shaena.

When he was serving as The Mad King bodyguard he would always see her around court flurrying around court along with her twin brother Rhaegar.

Jaime looked up at both of the targaryen twins they would've made a good king and queen, the princess of dragon stone was kind, gentle beautiful the whole package.

He had developed a crush on the princess for a while but never acted on it.

Cersei his sister always obsessed marrying Rhaegar while he at some point when he was a child dreamt of marrying Princess Shaena.

But his sweet sister had said that the princess would never fall for him which was true for the princess had fallen for Brandon Stark.

The two truly loved one another much to the displeasure of Catelyn Stark, the tully lady loved Brandon and always dreamt of marrying him one day but the eldest wolf was set to marry the princess as degree by Aerys claiming Ice and Fire must come together.

As Ned listened to that song, he realized that his niece has truly grown up.

Perhaps it was indeed time to set her free.

The night breeze was a calming opposite to the hall Cersei has just emerged from. She has meant to spend time alone in the gardens, but the sounds of a bamboo flure caught her ears.

She stood behind several pots of flowers, finding across them, a man in dark, kimono style robes. She would have mistaken him for one of her own people if not for the crest that hang from his neck.

He's one of the Stark Whore's corsets, I have seen him at Winterfell a couple of times she thought.

The flutist became aware of the queen's presence, thanks to the shadow of her hair blocking some of the light from behind him. He turned around and gave Cersei a 45Β° bow, as opposed to the Westerosi kneel.

"Your Majesty, I apologise for coming so late to the Capitol. I have been invited to Lady Lyarra Stark's… wedding." he explained.

"No of those words needed, you seem tired from your journey. It is a bit suspicious that you were not found at the front gate." Cersei pointed out.

"The guards had not let me in, and I believe they did not inform you, for you wee busy with matters concerning the realm."

"Aha, the people; you think I care."

This queen is a strange one

Not that he had done much better, having to flee months after his spouse lost their child.

Did you pass by Kamakura

No, he didn't, he could not.

Cersei eyed him with disdain.

"I shall see to your accommodations, good ser, for the sake of my future good sister." she stated and headed back to the keep.

She did not trust this man; he was no Lannister. Even worse, he was a friend of that Stark whore.

She would show him kindness for now.

Much later that night, as Lyarra was being walked back to her chambers by Jaime she didn'tΒ  say a word on the way back which began to annoy the golden lion.

" How long will you continued to freeze me out " Jaime exclaimed throwing his hands in the air frustrated.

" I don't know what you mean Sir " Lyarra answered rolling her eyes.

" Why, must you push me away I am trying to get to know you and you just freeze me out whenever I try to get to know you betterΒ  " Jaime mumbled

" You mean touch me inappropriately or whisper naughty thoughts in my ear that's not getting to know me " Lyarra exclaimed.

Jaime signed knowing his little ice wolf was right he hadn't presented himself in the right way.

" I'm sorry Little Ice Wolf do you think you could give me a second chance to show that I'm not that guy that everyone thinks me to be could you give us a chance to work " Jaime asked offering her his hand.

The young ice dragon was conflicted to accept his hand, some part of her wanted to another one didn't want to take the risk.

She finally made her choices, Lyarra nodded before taking his hand with hers willing to give a second chance to Jaime.

A smile spread across the golden lion's face he was grateful but knew he wouldn't screw this up again which he wouldn't.
