It's been atleast over three months since Marinette and Winnie had first met and it's been about three whole months since they've became friends.
The two girls hung out anytime that they could.
Going to the movies, hanging out at the park, having ice cream together and at times Winnie would hang out with the blue haired teen at the bakery. Helping out at times as well, refusing to be paid. Winnie would randomly take Marinette on walks, bike rides and had prepared a few picnics for them to enjoy.
Winnie has been in Marinette's room a few times- maybe more than a few and Marinette has been in Winnie's room as well. They even had sleepovers as well, talked on the phone alot and they were always video calls.
They got to know each other better and better, Winnie was even told about the way that Marinette used to be and how she wanted to be better, leading her to cut off her best friend.
Of course Marinette was scared of what Winnie would think of her after that but she was relieved that Winnie didn't just leave or judge her.
Infact, she was proud of Marinette, not too obsessed individuals would want to get better or see a problem with any of their actions.
So she was glad that Marinette saw her wrongs and wanted to right them.
Marinette knew of Winnie's love for art, she also knew of Winnie's very strained relationship with her mother whom had cheated on her dad, leaving him for the man she cheated with. Winnie however does have the best relationship with her father. Winnie knew of Marinette's love for fashion and even didn't mind to be a model for the girl sometimes.
The more time that Marinette spent with Winnie, the more her feelings grew.
She found herself thinking about Winnie just about everyday but she couldn't say a thing. Why would she when the two of them are great friends?
And she'd always feel horrible when she had to disappear or cancel on Winnie to fight an akumatized villain.
Thankfully Winnie never made a fuss or anything and would always seem to just understand when Marinette needed to leave or cancel on their plans.
Since meeting Winnie, Marinette seems to be happier which was obvious to all that know the blue haired teen.
Especially her Kwami.
Because right now, she was laying onto Marinette's shoulder as the teen smiles softly at a small framed picture of her and Winnie.
This smile was a far cry from the creepy one she'd give when she was ever staring at Adrien's picture.
No this smile was soft, loving and filled with affection. Not obsession.
"You really like her, huh?" Tikki asks the teen softly causing Marinette's cheeks to heat up before she groans loudly, hiding her face with her hands. "I- I don't know, Tikki," she replies and the tiny creature rolled their eyes.
She's been alive way too long to be lied to like this.
"Yes you do, admit it." The Kwami hums out as she floats off Marinette's shoulder and moves infront of her instead.
Tikki knows that the teen is struggling as she has never been attracted to the same gender before but love is love, is it not?? Sometimes people forgot because they're too caught up in being negative.
It was sad truly.
The teen groans lowly. "I've never liked a girl before, it's new." She admits with a frown. "What if my mom and dad don't support me? What if Winnie doesn't like me that way?" She rambled out.
Her voice shook lightly with her words. She knew that Winnie was into girls as the girl is a lesbian, saying how her ex had cheated on her. And with a male. A male that she once called her friend.
Therefore she was beytrayed by two of the closest people to her.
And Marinette being the dumbass she is had wanted to see what Winnie's ex had looked like. Why? She had no idea- okay maybe she wanted to see if Winnie had a type or something and if she fit into it.
It took almost forever for Winnie to find a picture of the girl, it was an old picture of when things were good. When Winnie thought she had a good girlfriend and a great friend.
So the picture was of all three of them. It was burned after Marinette saw what it of course as Winnie didn't need that bad energy. How did she even miss that one? She had no idea, maybe it was meant to be left behind for her to show Marinette.
After seeing the picture, Marinette felt as if she couldn't even compare to Winnie's ex. The girl was pretty- of course Winnie is prettier- but Marinette felt that the girl was prettier than herself.
Looks wise, they had nothing in common at all.
She felt insecure.
"I might not even be her type," she adds after a moment as she rests her head on her table with a light thud. "I guess," the Kwami mutters out. "But you don't know that for sure," she added as she plops on Marinette's head.
She goes to open her mouth, wanting to speak again but was instantly cut off as Marinette's phone started ringing.
Both perked up at that as Marinette sat up quickly, the Kwami almost falling off her head from how quickly she did so.
They both knew who was calling as the person had their own ring tone.
Tikki flew off Marinette's head seeing it was a video call and the blue haired teen places her phone on her desk, fixing it as best as she could so that it won't tip over or anything before she answered it with a grin on her lips. The grin only widens at the sight of Winnie who had a bit of paint on her forehead and cheek.
"Hey there pretty girl," Winnie says with a grin of her own and Marinette's cheeks flushed. No matter how mant times she's called that by the dark skinned teen, she still grows shy. "Hey beauitful," she says back and mentally patted herself on her back for not stuttering.
Seems very gay and loving to me, Tikki thinks to herself as she shook her head slightly.
"Are you free later today?" Winnie asked happily, her eyes twinkling as she stares at the girl that captured her heart easily. Normally she's a bold person that would say whatever came to mind but she kept her feelings to herself.
Especially knowing that Marinette was once obsessed with a male and trying to get better, plus the blue haired teen had never been attracted to girls.
Which meant that she could be straight.
Yes she blushed and such around her but Winnie didn't want to assume that obviously meant she liked her.
Plus the girl naturally got flustered over just about anything. "Yeah, I am. Why?" Marinette questions as she brushes her hair behind her ear.
When she was younger, her hair was in pigtails all the time but now she'd have it down and she also let it grew out until it passed her shoulders.
"Have a picnic with me?" Winnie asks as she wiggles her brows, causing the teen before her to laugh softly.
Oh how I love that sound, Winnie thinks as her eyes softened. "Now why would I say no to that?" The blue haired girl asks with a playful scoff, making Winnie let a laugh pass her plump lips.
She didn't the lovesick gaze that was on Marinette's face as she watched her just laugh.
Winnie goes to say something before the sound of knocking is heard on her room door making her tilt her head over at it. "Come in dad!" She calls out as she stood up straight, giving Marinette a full body view of her.
Her face heats up as her eyes trails over the girl. She's seen Winnie in overalls so many times and can never stop thinking of how adorable she looks in them.
Of course they're always covered in abit or alot of paint since that is what she'd wear when painting.
Marinette took in the way her hair was now braided. Was it twists? She couldn't tell yet but it surprised her to know that Winnie had locs under her braids. They were thick too, she was in pure awe of how she hide them so easily when she'd do her hair.
And yes, she did her own hair. She was so talented in Marinette's eyes.
"Your mom is here to see you," she hears and she snaps out of her thoughts to see Winnie's blank expression and her heart ached at the sight. "I'm busy," she replies to dad softly causing him to sigh lowly at her words. "Okay sweetpea," he says and the sound of the door closing was heard.
A sigh passes the dark skinned teens lips as she rubs her temple.
"I wish she'd give up," she mutters as she faced Marinette, a small smile slipping onto her plump lips.
Her mother wasn't even sorry for all of the pain she caused, never apologizing to her nor her father. She'd just say how she fell in love suddenly, how she didn't love Winnie's father and hasn't for years but stayed because 'why not?' She's talk about how she didn't mean to cheat yet she's been cheating on her ex husband for over three entire years.
She'd say how she wasn't sorry for the fact that she fell in love again and blah blah.
The moment her divorce was finished, she married her affiar partner and had the balls and audacity to invite Winnie to the wedding.
Of course she didn't go, she wanted not a thing to do with the woman she'd called her mom for so many years.
Sadly she had no choice but to visit her mom every few weekends or whatever due to the court. Donna would always try to get Winnie to spend time with her and her new husband. Wanting Winnie to get along with the man.
Donna wanted to play big happy family as she lost alot of them when her all of her secrets were exposed.
Her family couldn't believe she'd do such a thing like that when she saw just how badly cheating wrecked the family some years ago.
Moving on, Winnie didn't like Donna or her husband. The man tried acting like her father when she already has one, he acted like he knew her and that they are close. Winnie doesn't know what kind of family fantasy Donna and that man had but she wanted to be left out of it.
Thankfully when she turned 18, she was free to not see Donna and her man again unless she wanted too. And she didn't so, Donna showed up alot at the house.
If Donna was atleast sorry for the pain she caused, something might have could work out.
But then again, she got married after the divorce, like within days and invited her daughter who was trying her best to just cope with what happened while trying to comfort her heartbroken father.
She was heartless in Winnie's eyes to be honest. "I know," Marinette says softly as she ached to hug the girl. "How about we meet up in a hour?" She adds on, hoping to take the girl's mind off her mom.
And it seems she was successful because Winnie's eyes lit up as she nods her head excitedly. "Sounds good!" She retorts and Marinette felt her heart skip a beat.
"I already have everything for the picnic ready so I just need a shower and to get dressed, meet you at the park?" Winnie questions happily causing Marinette to nod her head.
The two soon bid each other goodbye and hung, causing Marinette to let out a dreamy sigh as she flops down onto her desk making the Kwami snort.
Marinette excitedly lays a sheet onto the grass, a smile on her lips as she did so.
It had taken her awhile to find an outfit to wear, it was nice having a friend that didn't think she overdressed.
Alya used to say she did when she felt as if she was just dressing for the occasion. However Winnie believed she dressed as she should, she's a desginer afterall. And since then, Marinette has been branching out with what she wore.
Slowly she stopped wearing the clothing that she did to please Alya. Of course she didn't over do it, starting off easy and all, wearing clothing she made for herself as she is now.
When it came to picnic's, both she and Winnie just wore whatever they want. But they stayed with a theme.
And that was 'somewhat cottagecore'.
The blue haired teen hums to herself as she got the sheet to lay how she wanted it too before she grabs her basket that she brought.
She had brought a few sweets and it's a thing for her to bring the sweets while Winnie brought the savories.
As she rests the basket on the sheet, she missed the group of her classmates too setting up a pinic a bit off from her. And though she didn't see them, they had saw her.
"Hey," Alya says with furrowed brows, getting everyone's attention. "Isn't that Marinette?" She added as she eyed her ex best friend's outfit while the others turned to look her way. "Yeah, it is. Oh, her outfit it so pretty," Rose says from her spot near her girlfriend Juleka who nods in agreement.
Many others agreeing as well, causing the Césaire teen to purse her lips and nod.
"I was gonna say we should invite her but she might be waiting on someone," Cholè states, her hand in her boyfriend's own. She and Marinette weren't close or anything but friendly and polite when it came to each other. "It seems so," Luka says with a nod, kissing his girlfriend's head.
Adrien frowns slightly at that. Marinette hasn't been hanging with the class that much anymore.
He didn't know why but it was obvious it was because Lila always made her way to the gatherings and also because she's now too busy to hang out with them.
Before anyone else can say anything, a dark skinned teen wearing a white dress that clung to her thick, curvy figure. She had a wide grin on her lips as she skips over towards Marinette who laughs at the sight of the girl skipping. She had a basket in her hand, her hair swaying a bit with her movements.
The teens watched as the two hugged tightly, Marinette seemed close to the girl and it annoyed Alya.
Was she replaced?
Meanwhile Adrien felt his cheeks heat up at the sight of the girl and her figure. She was stunning, that was for sure and could be a model if she wanted too.
"Wait, that's girl from Marinette's insta no?" Juleka says as most pictures that she posted had the girl in it. Even the ones on her story as well. "She's pretty," Kim whistled out lowly. "We should go and invite them over," Lila spoke up for the first time.
Her voice held fake cheerfulness that not to many can tell was faux.
But Cholé, Luka, Rose, Jukeka and also Adrien can tell. Only the blonde male doesn't really care and wants things to stay the way that they are now.
Lila's smile seemed real which caused a lot to agree with her. "Are you all dumb or something?" Cholé deadpans causing them all to look at her as Luka bit back a laugh.
"We can maybe say hi but I doubt that they want to join in on a group pinic," the blonde girl says. Was she the only one with sense here?
A few smiled sheepishly at her words as they agreed though Adrien and Lila did not agee. The blonde wanted to know the girl that Marinette is friends with, so did Lila since she's nosey and wanted to just know everything.
The group made their way over towards their friend just as she and her guest sat down on the sheet.
"Marinette!" Rose calls out causing the blue haired teen's head to snap up and she looked at the group almost in utter horror.
Not because she was here with Winnie, not because it looked like it could be a date- even if that's what she wished it was- but because she wanted this to still be a her and Winnie thing.
Her thoughts made her feel selfish but she came here to be with Winnie, not her classmates.
"Hey," she says as a small smile tugs at her lips as Winnie takes the food and drinks out her basket to place them all down gently. She was in her own little world at the moment.
Marinette eyed her classmates and she nearly rolled her eyes at the sight of Lila who stood there with a fake smile on her lips. She looked away from the girl and her eyes accidently fell onto Adrien.
Her brows furrowed in confusion when she saw the odd, dazed almost lovesick look on his face and wondered who it's aimed at. And so she followed his line of vision and nearly choked.
A spark of jealously sparked up within her but she also felt somewhat smug as Winnie wasn't at all interested in males. "Hey Marinette, whose your friend with you?" Adrien asks almost shyly and the blue haired girl felt her eye twitch.
At that Winnie gazed up and she blinks in surprise at the many teens before her. "Maribug?" She calls out softly, keeping her eyes on the teen she hadn't heard at all until now. "Yeah?" Marinette replies softly. "Who these people? Are I high?? Where the hell did they come from? You see them too right?" The dark skinned girl rambled with squinted eyes causing the girl next to her to chuckle softly.
A few of her classmates laughed as well, finding Winnie funny already.
"These are my classmates, no you're not high, they came from somewhere near and yes I see them too," Marinette says as she pats Winnie's shoulder, making the girl sigh in relief. "And you don't get high," the blue haired girl added.
Winnie pursed her lips at that before she lets out a laugh. "Oh yeah," she snorted out before she nods.
"So um, sup?" She says to Marinette's classmates causing them to laugh again. Am I funny? She thinks as she pursed her lips. "We all wanted to know if you two would join us?" Adrien lies smoothly as the others gave him looks.
Was he serious?
But the way he was staring at the girl, they now knew why he lied. She's a pretty girl and probably wanted to get to know her. Couldn't he wait though?
Marinette stiffened at that which Rose and Juleka noticed. Alya had her arms crossed, eying the girl near her ex best friend in distaste.
She wanted to say something but knew whatever it was would come off as just hateful, which it will be.
But can you blame her? Her best friend cut her off and for nothing, now she was hanging out with another girl? Replacing her when she's irreplaceable.
"Oh, how kind of you," Winnie says to Adrien causing his cheeks to heat up as he rubbed the back of his neck shyly at her words. "But nope, also my name is Winnie." She added and he blinked at her answer along with Lila who seems surprised that the girl turned down the invite. "Marinette and I have been both looking forward to hanging out today," Winnie contiuned even if she and the girl hung out just yesterday.
They didn't need to know that though.
Plus she's good where she's at and she's not in the mood for so many people as well. "What she said," Marinette says as her cheeks heated up, causing Cholé to arch a brow along with Juleka.
Are they reading too much into this? Or does Marinette like Winnie?
"Bummer," Kim groans out. "I was kind of hoping to chat with you," he flirts with Winnie as he winks her way and many of his friends didn't know of they should cringe or find him bold.
Adrien casts a subtle glare towards the male as did Marinette before she looks away. Why are I jealous when she's not even into men?! She yells in her mind.
"Oh, I'm a lesbian dude." Winnie states bluntly causing his eyes to widen as a few others laughed at him, Adrien just stares at Winnie. A lesbian? She was a lesbian?
Was she sure? Like positive??
No she couldn't be a lesbian, right? She can be bisexual and not know. Maybe she hadn't met the right male yet, that was possible.
Sudden screaming caused them all to look in a certain direction, seeing a few people running for their lives and so Marinette was quick to get up, tugging Winnie with her.
"Our picnic!" Winnie cried out causing Marinette to laugh. This girl. They are suppose to be running for their lives right now. "I need you to stay here," she soon says to Winnie once she had the girl far enough and out of sight. Her voice held desperation like it always did when had her hide.
Winnie nods her head lightly and watches as her friend ran off.
She def Ladybug, that ass is telling too, she thinks.
