━━━━━━━━ Rowan Lockwood has always preferred the quiet chaos of her own thoughts to the noisy mischief of others. She is the kind of Ravenclaw who has always wondered why she was chosen to be a member of that house. Her nature had always been to go against the rules, sure she liked learning new things and getting good grades, but she would never have sat hunched over books for days on end. She wouldn't have missed days at Hogsmeade to study. Think of it, studying has never been her thing, not entirely.

Life at Hogwarts has always been quite boring for Rowan, her friend since first year Sloane Bellingham has always managed to keep her out of trouble, against her will. Sloane is the definition of a perfect Ravenclaw—studious, diligent, intelligent, and creative. For these reasons the two were no strangers to arguments, when Rowan wanted to close the books to take a break Sloane insisted on continuing to study.

Even though Rowan would never admit it—jumping off the Astronomy Tower would be the most stimulating thing she'd do in three long years at Hogwarts, at least until a prank gone wrong sent her across paths with the Weasley twins, the school's infamous prankster duo.

Rowan had never spoken to the Weasley twins, despite nearly half the castle had already fall victim to their pranks, she hadn't yet to have the honor. Although, she had to admit that she admired them—they were not afraid of the consequences or even of Filch's punishments, that man gave her the shivers, even more than Snape's icy glances.

━━━━━━━━ Fred Weasley never met a challenge he didn't want to overcome, or a person he couldn't make laugh. But Rowan Lockwood was different from other girls he'd met—witty, intelligent, and immune to his usual charm. What begins as a battle of pranks and wits slowly turns into something more, as Rowan and Fred find themselves drawn to each other in ways neither of them had expected.

Becoming rivals on the Quidditch pitch and in the battle of pranks, the two do not realize how much the world around them is changing. But as the shadow of war looms over Hogwarts, Rowan and Fred must navigate a world where joy and pain are never far apart, and where love, no matter how bright, may not be enough to save them.
