The two boys chatted the night away, discovering new things about one another. Never once finding the other rambling on boring or an annoyance. Time seemed so irrelevant to the two young boys lost in what seemed to be an engaging conversation.
The young Salvatore listened silently with an adorable smile on his youthful features when the blonde boy explained to him his favorite color was crystal blue. Most would have thought it would have been a simple plain answer but even at a young age, Ben was very good at capturing attention and make anything trivial the most interesting thing in the world.
The color reminded Stefan of Ben's eyes except they were a dark shade of blue yet was still a soothing color. To Stefan they resembled the deepest part of the ocean, so beautiful yet held so many mysteries within them. The young Salvatore noticed the subtle moonlight seeping in his bedroom. It managed to brighten up his darkened room along with Ben's eyes looked as it also made it look like his skin was glowing. A sudden though popped into Stefan's mindΒ of how pretty his friend looked unde the moonlight but was blissfully too ignorant to fully comprehend the meaning behind the thought.
Stefan's young heart swelled in sympathy and understanding when his friend had told him the color was also a reminder of his mom and how she had made him feel safe and calm like the soothing waters. Though he was young, Stefan understood the loss of a mother and it certainly made his heartache when he saw the other on the verge of crying but still held his sad smile. As if trying to prove to himself that he wouldn't cry or that cryin would make Stefan think less of him.
The two little boys woke up at the sound of a female maid informing them they needed to ready themselves for Benedict's father would soon be arrivingΒ to retrieve his son. It was quite early in the morning judging by the distant sounds of birds chirping and the sun looked like it had barely come out. Stefan was not bothered by the early wake-up but it appeared Ben was not as chirper to be awakened and glared at the maid's retreating form. His lips forming an annoyed pout.
"I want to sleep. Go away please." He emphasized the last word in a whiny tone, shoving himself under the covers and attempting to go back into a deep sleep. He ignored the momentary panic he felt when he noticed he and Stefan were cuddled up together. Even though he was sure he had left enough space between them that they would both have enough space. Something in him told him this wasn't supposed to be normal but at that moment, his young mind had chosen to dismiss the confusing feeling.
Stefan has convinced his friend to get out of bed and to allow the maids to ready him after nearly fifteen minutes of trying to pull the covers off. For someone so small, Ben sure knew how to tighten his grip to his advantage. The final push was promising they would get to have a play date soon and they would get to do whatever Ben wanted that day.Β
The two boys were currently waiting in Stefan's room until their prescense was requested was only when they would leave to face the scolding. "Stefan, we should go out the meadows next time." Ben spoke, now back into his freshly cleaned suit his father deemed was worth clothing for his son. His shoes were tied by Stefan who rolled his eyes with a smile at the request. His blonde hair still slightly wet but was not clicked to the side.
Stefan looked at his friend in bewilderment as if he couldn't believe his words. "Ben, you cannot be serious. We have already gotten ourselves into trouble. Our fathers are furious with us." Stefan could hear his older brother trying to talk their fathers from giving either of them a harsh. If there was by time to be grateful for Damon for being so persuasive and cunning, Stefan was glad for it now more than anytime else.
Ben nodded in understanding of his words but not in agreement. "I know, Stefan. I am aware when my father is furious. He likes to make that known when we are at our estate." The little blonde boy said tiredly but chirpered up at the thought of being away from a place that stopped feeling like home. "I heard it is a beautiful field filled with the rarest flowers and the animals are so majestic. A place time does not define us and we can get lost in a dreams. Doesn't that sound like a pleasing place to be?" Ben softly said his side of theΒ argument, his his tone was hopeful and light.
Stefan professed his words carefully and found himself curious of this so-called timeless meadow. He recalled about hearing his older brother speaking about this field that was somewhat close and how beautiful it was in his eyes. The way Damon talked about it when he usually complained made a spark of curiosity light within Stefan's young mind.
He hummed a melody and glanced at his friend with a grin.
"Yes, that does sounds like a pleasing place to be. It almost doesn't seem like a real place but I suppose we will find out soon." Stefan did not turn his head when he could practically already feel the beaming smile on his friend's face.
"Yes, we will."
