GIANNA SAT ON THE COUCH, a blanket wrapped around her and tea in her hands. A movie played softly on the background, she wasn't really watching it. She was distracted by her own thoughts. Yesterday night Lando came by her apartment, he drunkenly told her not to go out with Mason because he was a 'prick' in his words.
Gianna thought it was just some bullshit out of his mouth, but he was right.
She arrived a little late at the restaurant they would meet up at. Mason was already a little annoyed but put his feelings aside. Their dinner was nice until she brought up Lando's visit. His demeanour changed, he was suddenly annoyed and snarky towards her. Gianna was taken back by his response, but she brought the story as some sort of joke, thinking he would laugh.
He told Gianna it was rude to be late, especially when it's because of an ex boyfriend. Mason couldn't laugh and kept making snarky comments, to the point where he got rude. She excused herself from dinner, in which he followed her out of the restaurant.
The two fought outside the restaurant, making their fight a show for paparazzi. It's the one thing she hated about social media these days. Gianna told him that they weren't a match and that she was going home.
In the cab back home the emotions engulfed her. A couple tears fell from her eyes as she arrived at her apartment. Gianna really thought that Mason was a decent guy, that would treat her well, but it was all for show.
So now she sat on the couch, watching some romance movie which made her feel worse. Her friends texted Gianna to come over, but she declined. They already saw the fight around social media, it was horrible seeing what everyone thought about her. The media let everyone think that she wasn't capable of having a boyfriend.
Gianna had put her phone away a couple hours ago, putting it on silence.
She looked up at the television, it made her blood boil watching that romance movie. Gianna turned it off, she stood up and walked to kitchen. She grabbed a wineglass from a cabinet and a bottle of red wine, pouring it half full in her glass. She wanted to make her way to the couch again, but a soft knock was heard on from the door.
Gianna put the glass on the kitchen island and walked over to the door. She opened it slowly, looking around the corner to see who it was.
"Are you drunk again?" She asked the familiar face in front of the door.
"I'm sober darling." She would have melted then and there at the nickname, but reality was still a thing.
Gianna pushed the door a little further open for him to come in. Lando took off his sneakers at the entrance, such an English thing of him to do.
Gianna walked over to the kitchen to retrieve her glass of wine. He trailed behind her. "Rough night?" Lando asked curiously, a small grin on his lips.
"You have no idea." Gianna sighed and took a sip of the wine. "You probably already read how my night has been?" She questioned.
"How could I not see it?" He leaned on the kitchen island. He wore an all black outfit, some black joggers and a black quadrant hoodie. He looked damn good in that basic outfit. Next to her he would look like a god.
"You were right, he is in fact a prick." She leaned her head on her hand. "Is that why you're here? To rub it into my face?"
"Not at all, I wanted to see how you felt." She didn't expect that answer from him. "Guessing from the wine, not so good?"
"It's just fucking annoying that he acted like the biggest gentleman and then like a moron." Gianna drank the last bit of wine, she wanted to pour some more but Lando took the bottle.
"Easy Lister, don't want you doing anything stupid." He grinned at her annoyed face.
"I have made two big mistakes in my life, dating you and not finishing school." Lando acted fake hurt at her words.
"Why was I a mistake?" He asked quietly.
"You cheated Lando." The words hit her with a pang, it was more than a two years ago but it still hurt.
"Okay, can you please let me explain what really happened? Without interruption?" He asked seriously. Gianna gave him a nod and listened intently.
"The day you think what happened is misinterpreted, I wanted to plan something special for you, and I had just gotten a new PR manager. I asked her how to surprise you and where, she helped met plan it. So when you walked in on us in my motor home, it was us planning a surprise for you. I hadn't told you yet that she was a new member of the McLaren crew." He told the whole story from his point of view.
"Why were you guys talking about kissing and keeping it private?" Gianna asked him curiously.
"I didn't want to the you yet what the surprise was about, but I planned for us to move in and give you the key of my new house in Monaco. I told her that I wanted to do the dinner private, so no paparazzi would bother us if I was affectionate with you in public. I hated them for posting pictures of us being affectionate." He explained his answer.
"I don't really know what to say about this." Gianna was no longer leaning on her hand. She walked back in fort, confused on how she twisted reality in her own story. If she had asked him what was going on, then they would still be together, in Monaco happy.
"Sorry, it's a lot I know." He came a little closer to Gianna. She stopped pacing around.
"It's fine, but I feel so stupid." She sighed loudly.
"Now you know." He looked at her with those piercing eyes, she drowned into them.
"I didn't even give you a chance to explain, I'm so sorry Lando." Gianna apologised.
He was so close that she could smell his cologne, he put his finger under her chin to let her focus on him. "Darling, it's fine."
"Haven't heard that name in a while." She smiled, a little blush forming on her cheeks.
"Only I call you by that name." His voice had gotten deeper since two years ago, she hadn't noticed but he was so close to her now.
A phone interrupted their little moment, Lando grabbed his phone and looked at the screen.
"My flight is leaving in two hours, I have to leave." He told her.
"Right, yeah."
"I'll see you soon, have a good night love." He pressed a soft kiss on her head and left the apartment.
Leaving Gianna stunned and flabbergasted about the last couple of minutes. Did he come over to say goodbye or to really check up on her?
But she could already see the headlines, Lando Norris leaving his ex's house.
