08 | Looking for Mr. Right
Trinity scrolled boringly through Instagram stories on her main page, trying to use her phone to pass the time on her last fifteen minute break. She was ready to go home, get in the bed and order some DoorDash. She didn't want anyone or anything to bother her in the meantime—which was hard to ask for since her job consisted mostly of socializing.
Her break came and went, and she clocked back in six minutes later for the remainder of her shift. She'd been here since ten this morning and was scheduled to get off at eight—and the time currently read 6:57. She was praying that her relief would come early so that she could go home.
That didn't end up happening.
She did her last rounds with her patients and made sure everything was stocked up for the graveyard shift, then she went back to the break room until eight o'clock since she had nothing else to do. That's what she loved most about this job—she was basically her own boss. There was no one over her micromanaging or anything like that.
The car ride home was quiet as hell, just like it'd been for the last three days..
Trinity had been trying hard not to think about Amari or the fact that they'd been no contact for three days but it was easier said than done. They were only talking for a month but he'd made the biggest difference in her life already and she hadn't realized it until now.
He ordered her lunch at work everyday and sent her messages throughout her shift so that she wouldn't get sleepy and accidentally doze off, he rubbed her feet when she got home because of how they ached through the day, he cuddled with her at night which always made the next morning a good one—just little things like that made her life easier.
It was crazy that he consumed so much of her thoughts and they hadn't even done anything sexual yet. It wasn't like the dick had her going through withdrawals. It made her wonder if he'd been thinking about her 24/7 the way she thought about him. Did he miss her yet?
She wished he would just text her if he did because her door was open for him whenever he was ready to come back to her. She hadn't missed anyone this badly in a while. He had her wrapped around his finger and she didn't even care. She hoped this no contact thing was almost over.
In fact, she tried to break it an hour after he left by calling him, only for it to go straight to voicemail. She sent a couple of texts as well, but they were all green and both of them had iPhones. She even went as far as stopping by his mother's house, only to get no answer.
At this point it felt like begging and that was her number one pet peeve. She didn't want to seem desperate and the thought of him getting her messages while possibly being with someone else gave her secondhand embarrassment. So, she hadn't reached out in a day or so.
She still constantly checked their message thread that she had on mute in case he decided to send her a text. It didn't seem like he would any time soon though, which hurt her feelings even though she knew this was her fault.
"Best frienddddd!" Miri smiled at her from the couch when she walked in the house, causing Trinity's face to light up.
"Hey stink. You home alone?" She leaned over to kiss her cheek while Miri's arms wrapped around her in a hug.
"Nah, Leila in there taking a nap before we leave later. You still coming, right?" Miri asked, then immediately smacked her lips at Trinity's expression.
"I'm so sad Mir. I don't wanna leave the house. What if he's there? I'd literally start crying in the club and I've already embarrassed myself enough." She groaned in frustration with herself, resting her head on the back of the couch.
"Wow. It's so crazy to see you acting like this but I love it. He got my best friend gone, chile." Miri blew out a dramatic breath, making Trinity laugh.
"I know, right! I was just thinking about that earlier. I miss my baby so much man. I just wanna kiss him and hug him and smell him. And fuck him. And suck his d—,"
"Bitch you ain't even done that yet." Miri interrupted her, making her laugh again.
"So. I still want to. Should I text him on Instagram and ask do he wanna fuck? He ain't blocked me on there yet."
"No bitch. You should go to the club 'cause we all know he gon' be there. And you should wear something super sexy to make him horny or something. Something he can't resist. And if he ain't there, we can go to O Block. They got a kickback happening at Scoota house tonight."
"Hm. I like the way you think. I love a bitch who try to help me get my man back." Trinity raised her hand and Miri gave her a high five before both of them fell out in laughter.
"Go get ready 'cause it's gon' take you the longest. I'll go wake Lei up." Miri told her, shooing her towards her bedroom, and she went to do as told.
It would only take her longer because she had to dress down from work. Usually, it took Leila the longest because she was lazy and waited until the last minute to start getting ready. The two of them were the reason they were always late to everything.
After taking a shower, Trinity touched up her bundles and cut deeper layers into them before curling and pinning them up to sit while she found an outfit for tonight. She wanted to go all out because she really wanted Amari's attention. She couldn't believe she was doing all of this for a man.
Anyway, she ended up going with a black, long sleeved one piece made of a mesh and lace material that left little to the imagination. She covered her nipples with pasties and wore black seamless thongs from Skims to cover her private parts. This was way out of her ordinary but just what she needed. She hoped he would get mad and say something to her.
For shoes, she wore red bottom Christian Louboutin So Kate high pumps since her nails were red French tips. She added to the red by accessorizing with cherry earrings, and a gold and red Van Cleef necklace. She decided not to go with any arm candy since her bodysuit was long sleeved.
After spraying herself down with Kay Ali's vanilla candy perfume, she removed the pins in her hair and brushed out her curls. The girls began to rush her in the midst of doing that, so she ended up forgetting her purse but she wouldn't need it anyway. Her debit card and ID were already in the back of her phone case.
"Now that's what the fuck I'm talking 'bout!" Leila recorded her as she down a swallow of Lunazul and chased it with a green apple flavored Beatbox, then she stuck her tongue out at the camera before laughing.
"That hoe think she slick, tryna get drunk so she ah' get that liquor courage." Miri said from the drivers seat once the video ended, earning another laugh from her since it was true.
"I hope my nigga there or I done did all this for nothing. And if he ain't, O Block will be seeing me! Trust." She repeated the process with the Lunazul and the beatbox, flaring her throat to rid the burning sensation.
"I know that's mufuckin' right sista. He gone love to see you coming. Bitch look bad as fuckkkk." She complimented her outfit choice, making her cockily wiggle her shoulders.
She only hope that their very unserious plan ended up as a successful one.
As soon as they made it into the club, Trinity began looking around for the face she wanted to see. She didn't even pay attention to Miri and Leila as they led her up to the section they'd been invited to, she just mindlessly followed behind them.
A few shots later, one of the men in the section tried talking to her for the second time and she just shut him down with a wave of her hand. She was not here to make friends baby, she wanted her man and she wanted him now!
"Ion think he came. Let me hit that." She reached for Leila's blunt, and she took another pull before passing it over to her.
"So we hitting the O after this?" Miri asked.
"Nah.. my delusional era is over now." She chuckled, though she wasn't in a laughing mood. She wanted to go home now but didn't want to ruin their fun, so she just sat there and scrolled aimlessly on her phone.
"Don't let him ruin your night sista. Come on, dance for me bitch. You ain't got all this ass for nothing." Leila pushed her to stand up, and since she didn't want to seem like a party pooper, she stood up on her own.
All Dere by Moneybagg Yo and Glorilla blared through the speakers of the club, and Trinity pulled all over hair over her shoulder so it wouldn't be in the way and bent over in front of her sister, effortlessly throwing her ass in a circle to the beat. She normally didn't dance around a lot of people because her butt literally caused a commotion every time but she was drunk and sad so she didn't even care right now.
Some of the men mistook her for one of the strippers in the section, so they threw bills in her direction that Miri collected to give to her best friend later. She deserved it! She was putting on quite the show for her girls.
"Bitch it's all there! Nah forealllllll!" Leila turned around on the couch to move her butt against her sister's, though it was almost nothing compared to Trinity's. She was just glad to see her sister laughing.
"Bitchhhhhh!!" Miri shrieked in surprise when one of the overhead spotlights shined directly on Trinity, grabbing almost everyone's attention in the club—a commotion, like always.
Trinity held her bundles up and bit her bottom lip as she made her ass clap against the fence so that everyone could see, listening to them cheer for her from the lower levels.
When the song ended, she smiled down at the crowd and waved both of her hands. Miri passed her a few stacks of dollar bills, and she burst out laughing when she realized where the money came from. Hey, she wasn't saying no to this! Maybe she'd chosen the wrong job after all.
A familiar voice coming from behind her made her head turn so fast she almost got whiplash, and her smile slowly faded away when she saw Amari and Scoota dapping up the men who bought this section for the night.
She wondered if her dancing had caught his attention or if they were just now arriving to the club. That confident shit was out of the window now that he was here. She began to think about how she should've wore something a little less revealing and hadn't drawn so much attention to herself.
He looked so good, though. She loved when he was dressed down in all black. It fit him so well. And she could smell him, too. She prayed he would take her home and put her through the mattress tonight.
"Sista keep dancing bitch so he won't have no choice but to look at you!" Leila whispered to her, noticing him as well.
"Bitch I'm scared!" She whispered back as if she wasn't just dancing in front of a hundred people.
"You don't want him foreal then." Miri waved her off, and she smacked her lips before putting some of her money in Leila's purse and she gave the rest to them to throw on her and the other strippers.
BOP by Big Boogie and Glorilla began to play, and Trinity moved her bundles over her shoulder again, then stood up on the couch. Miri and Leila both recorded her on Instagram with the flashlight on in hopes of grabbing Amari's attention.
She held on to the back of the couch and looked back at her own ass as it moved in a circle, spreading her legs further apart. Her hand moved between her legs, and as soon as she did that, she could feel someone burning a hole through her face. She stopped dancing when she realize it wasn't Amari that was staring—she couldn't even see him in the section anymore.
"Ok y'all I'm ready to go. I'm finna call a Lyft." She said to them once she sat back down, trying to convince herself that this wasn't serious enough to cry about.
"Girl no. C'mon. We can go." Miri helped her up, and both of them held her hands as they walked out of the section. When they made it back to the car, Trinity tested her luck and dialed Amari's number, placing her phone to her ear.
It immediately went to voicemail like it's been doing, and she sighed before powering her phone off. Now, not only was she sad about not talking to him, but she was sad about ruining her girls' night by leaving the club early. She was glad that they weren't upset though.
Although she drunk at least a fourth of that bottle of Lunazul and an entire beatbox, she didn't feel drunk at all. She wished she was though. At least that would've stopped her from being sad. Getting drunk was always the perfect solution.
"It's fine y'all. I'll be ok. I'm finna go straight to sleep anyways." She opened up the back door once they were home, interrupting the girls before they could decide to stay home with her, knowing that they both wanted to go see their boyfriend.
"Sista I—,"
"I'm fine. I swear. If I'm not, I'll call. It's fine." She assured, and Miri stared at her with furrowed eyebrows because they all knew that she was lying.
"You're literally crying. I'm not going." Miri removed her seatbelt and pulled the key out of the ignition, just for Trinity to stop her again.
"And you know I don't even like to be around nobody while I'm sad so please just go. I will see y'all tomorrow and I'll be just fine then. Goooo. Bye bye." She waved goodbye to them both, carrying her heels up the rock pathway that led to their front porch.
She closed and locked the door once she was inside of the house, hoping they didn't follow her. She sighed in relief once she heard the engine crank back up, and she sulked in the direction of her bedroom.
Hesitation came when she grabbed the doorknob, as if she was expecting something or someone on the other side. She slowly pushed the door open and flipped the light switch, only to see that her room was exactly how she left it, and nobody was waiting on her.
The disappointment made her tears fall more frequently.
Her bedtime routine went by faster than she could even blink, and she did exactly as she said she would, crying herself to sleep. She hated that she had to go to bed alone, again.
