A few weeks later, the air was crisp and fragrant with the first hints of spring. Preethi and Shubman had decided to take a weekend getaway to a picturesque hill station, seeking a break from their bustling city life.

The serene landscape, with its lush green hills and blooming flowers, provided the perfect backdrop for what Shubman had planned.

As they hiked through the vibrant trails, Preethi's laughter filled the air, her spirit buoyed by the beauty around them.

Shubman watched her with an adoring gaze, his heart swelling at the sight of her happiness. Every moment spent with her reminded him of just how lucky he was to have her in his life.

After a long day of exploring, they set up a cozy picnic at a secluded spot overlooking a breathtaking valley.

The sun dipped low on the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange. Preethi spread out the blanket while Shubman unpacked the delicious spread of food he had prepared.

"This is amazing, Shubman!" Preethi exclaimed, eyeing the array of sandwiches, fruits, and pastries. "I can't believe you made all this yourself!"

He shrugged, a playful grin on his face. "What can I say? I'm a man of many talents. Plus, I wanted to impress my girl."

She chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief as they settled down on the blanket. They enjoyed their meal, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature, sharing stories and dreams as the sun began to set.

"Do you remember our first trip together?" Shubman asked, his eyes sparkling with nostalgia.

"We were so awkward, and I was trying so hard to make a good impression."

Preethi laughed, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "You were adorable! You kept fumbling with your words and tripping over your own feet."

"Okay, okay, I get it," he said, feigning offence but unable to hide his smile. "But look how far we've come since then. We've made so many amazing memories together."

"Yeah, we really have," Preethi said, her voice softening as she thought of all the moments they had shared. "I wouldn't trade any of it for the world."

As the last rays of sunlight dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in twilight, Shubman's expression grew serious.

He took a deep breath, steadying himself for what was about to come. He had rehearsed this moment in his mind countless times, but now, with Preethi sitting across from him, it felt surreal.

"Preethi," he began, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "There's something I've been wanting to ask you."

Her gaze shifted from the fading light to meet his, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "What is it?"

He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small velvet box. Preethi's breath caught in her throat as she recognized the significance of the gesture.

"From the moment I met you, I knew you were special," he continued, his heart racing.

"You've brought so much joy and love into my life, and I can't imagine a future without you by my side. You are my best friend, my partner, and the love of my life."

Tears brimmed in Preethi's eyes as she listened, her heart pounding with anticipation. "Shubman..."

He opened the box to reveal a stunning ring, sparkling in the dim light of dusk. "Will you marry me, Preethi? Will you make me the happiest man alive?"

For a moment, silence enveloped them, the weight of the question hanging in the air. Then, overwhelmed with emotion, Preethi nodded vigorously, a smile breaking across her face.

"Yes! A million times, yes!"

Shubman grinned, relief flooding through him as he slipped the ring onto her finger. It fit perfectly, just as he had hoped.

They both laughed, tears of joy spilling down Preethi's cheeks as he pulled her into a tight embrace.

"I can't believe this is happening!" she exclaimed, her voice muffled against his shoulder. "I'm so happy, Shubman!"

"Me too, my love," he murmured, holding her close. "You're everything I've ever wanted, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

They pulled back slightly, gazing into each other's eyes, their faces glowing with happiness. The world around them faded away as they shared a passionate kiss, sealing their promise to each other under the starlit sky.

When they finally broke apart, Preethi looked at the ring, still in disbelief. "It's beautiful," she whispered, admiring the way it sparkled on her finger.

"I can't believe you planned all of this. It's perfect."

"I wanted it to be special, just like you," he replied, his eyes filled with adoration.

"And this place... it felt like the right setting for the next chapter of our lives."

They spent the rest of the evening basking in the glow of their love, talking about their future, their dreams, and the life they would build together.

Laughter echoed around them, mingling with the sounds of nature, as they celebrated their engagement in the most romantic setting imaginable.

As they packed up the picnic, Preethi glanced back at the valley, feeling a rush of gratitude for the incredible man beside her. "I love you, Shubman," she said softly.

"I love you too, Preethi. Always and forever," he replied, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as they made their way back down the hill, hearts full of hope and excitement for the journey ahead.

After the proposal, with the excitement still buzzing in the air, Shubman took Preethi's hand as they walked back down the trail.

The sky had fully transitioned into a canopy of stars, their soft glow illuminating the path. The evening felt magical, and Preethi couldn't stop glancing down at the ring on her finger, the reality of their engagement still sinking in.

"I've got one more surprise for you," Shubman said, giving her a sideways glance, his smile full of anticipation.

Preethi raised her eyebrows, her smile widening. "Another one? Aren't you spoiling me a bit too much today?"

"Nothing's too much for my fiancée," he teased, emphasizing the new title with a wink. "I thought we'd end this perfect day with a special dinner. There's a restaurant nearby that I've heard amazing things about. Candlelit tables, live music, the works."

Her heart swelled at his thoughtfulness. "You really thought of everything, didn't you?"

"I wanted tonight to be perfect, just like you deserve," he said, stopping to pull her into his arms. He kissed her forehead softly, his breath warm against her skin.

"Every detail."

They arrived at the restaurant not long after, a quaint little place nestled at the edge of the hilltop. It was the kind of spot that felt hidden away from the world, with fairy lights strung across the outdoor seating area, casting a golden glow over the tables.

The soft strumming of a guitarist played in the background, adding to the romantic atmosphere.

As they were led to their table, Preethi couldn't help but admire the view. From the terrace, the valley below was dotted with the lights of distant villages, and the sky above seemed to stretch endlessly.

"This is breathtaking," Preethi said as they sat down, her voice full of awe.

Shubman smiled, pleased with her reaction. "I thought you'd like it. I wanted us to have a place that matched how special today is."

Preethi gazed across the table at him, her heart so full it felt like it might burst. She was used to seeing Shubman on the field, confident and focused, but tonight, there was something different about him.

He looked at her like she was the only person in the world, and it made her feel cherished in a way that took her breath away.

"You're too good to me," she said softly, reaching out to place her hand over his on the table.

"I'm just making up for how amazing you are," he replied, his thumb brushing across her knuckles gently.

"You've put up with me for years. You deserve a lifetime of spoiling."

They ordered their meals, a delicious array of Italian dishes that Shubman knew she loved—fresh pasta, creamy risotto, and a selection of appetizers that made Preethi's mouth water.

As they waited for the food to arrive, they sipped wine and talked about the future.

"I can't believe we're actually engaged," Preethi said, still admiring the ring. "It feels so surreal."

Shubman chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "I know, right? I've been thinking about it for months, trying to figure out the perfect way to ask you. But even when I had the ring, I was nervous."

She tilted her head, surprised. "You? Nervous? I thought nothing could shake you."

He smiled sheepishly, running a hand through his hair. "You make me nervous in the best way. I've never wanted anything so much in my life."

Preethi's heart melted at his confession. She leaned across the table, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "Well, you did good. You completely swept me off my feet."

Their food arrived, and the conversation flowed effortlessly, the two of them talking and laughing like they always had.

But there was something different now—a deeper connection, a sense of forever that hung between them.

At one point during dinner, the guitarist switched to a slower, more intimate tune, and Shubman stood up, offering his hand to Preethi. "Dance with me?"

She smiled, taking his hand as he led her to a small, open space near their table. He pulled her close, their bodies swaying gently to the music, the world around them fading as they focused only on each other.

As they danced, Shubman whispered in her ear, "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Preethi."

She rested her head against his chest, her eyes closing as she let his words sink in. "Neither can I," she murmured. "You're everything I've ever wanted, Shubman."

They danced under the stars for what felt like an eternity, wrapped up in the magic of the moment, the soft music, and the warmth of their love.

When they finally returned to their table, the evening felt like something out of a dream. The night was perfect in every way, and as they finished their meal, sipping the last of the wine,

Shubman looked at Preethi with a sense of certainty he had never felt before.

"You know," he said, his voice low and intimate, "I've always known I'd end up with you. From the moment we met, I knew you were the one."

Preethi smiled, her eyes glistening. "I feel the same. It's like everything led us to this point."

They lingered at the restaurant for a little while longer, talking about their future together—their dream home, the places they wanted to travel, the family they hoped to start someday.

Every conversation made the future feel more real, more within reach.

When they finally left, hand in hand, walking back to their cozy accommodation, Preethi couldn't stop smiling.

The entire day had been perfect, from the surprise proposal to the romantic dinner, and she couldn't wait to see what the rest of their lives together would hold.

As they reached their room, Shubman pulled her into his arms again, his lips brushing against hers softly.

"I love you," he whispered against her mouth, his breath warm and full of promise.

"I love you too," she whispered back, her fingers curling into his shirt as they shared another slow, tender kiss, knowing this was only the beginning of their beautiful journey together.
