THE MOMENT AMANDLA JONES STEPPED OUT OF THE JEEP, A SET OF SMALL ARMS WRAPPED AROUND HER TORSO AND NEARLY DRAGGED HER TO THE GROUND. Yelping, Amandla stumbled forward before she was spun around. Once her hazel-green eyes landed on the shorter dirty blonde-haired girl before her, she narrowed her stare. "You fucking piece of shit," she hissed, shoving her in the shoulder as Harrison Osterfield walked toward them.
"You're not escaping this," Keilah Winters warned, waving a finger at her best friend.
Groaning, Amandla rolled her eyes. "As I said in the chat, it's the holiday's and it's too soon," she sighed.
"But it's not too soon. Ethan broke up with you so you can figure this out. You need to talk to him," the latter pressed, crossing her arms. A sinking feeling weighed down the blonde's heart at the mention of Ethan and she frowned, casting her eyes to the stone-paved driveway. "Damn, your mom looks good. Mom! You look absolutely stunning!" Keilah squealed, winking at Amandla before running toward Valeria Jones in three-inch heels that were bouncing the sunlight off of them.
The YouTuber could hear her mother and best friend greeting the other from behind as she gave Harrison a small, but forced smile. "I'm assuming she told you about what she and everybody else wants me to do?" she questioned, raising a brow.
Nodding, he snorted as he walked with her to the front door. "You don't have to talk to Tom or tell him anything, but the holidays always do bring people together in unexpected ways." Harrison whispered, giving Amandla a nudge as she huffed, running a hand through her hair.
"I don't know if I have it in me to ask him if we can talk alone. I just—I'm just confused," she mumbled, glancing down at her heels.
"Then maybe talking will help make things clearer, and for the record, I believe in you. You've got this." Harrison spoke softly, reaching down and squeezing her hand reassuringly before pulling away. The two shared quick smiles before the front door of the Holland household opened and a burst of greetings and hugs began to tumble, one after the other.
An abundance of voices could be heard from inside and Amandla felt her nerves begin to huddle up and shake. Why was she so nervous? Stepping forward, she did her best to ignore the increasing anxiety coursing through her veins as Harrison shut the door behind everyone. Taking in a deep breath, she painted a bright smile on her face as a pair of warm arms were encased around her lovingly.
"Oh, Amandla! I'm so glad you and Ri were able to make it," Nikki gushed, using the nickname she'd coined long ago for the blonde's mother.
Pulling away, Amandla kept the same fake smile on her cheeks. "Me too! Did my Mom hand you the gift we brought?" she checked, shooting a grateful look to Keilah as she helped her take off her winter coat.
"Yes, I did," the ginger-haired woman breathed. "You really didn't have to bring anything, but thank you."
"After everything you and Dom have done for us this year, we wanted to get you something to express our gratitude." Amandla replied.
Nikki pulled her into another hug, squeezing gently. "We love you both," she murmured before pulling away and greeting Keilah and Harrison.
Trailing her eyes around the foyer, the blonde couldn't help but notice that her mother had disappeared from sight. Great. Taking a couple of steps toward the living room, she paused when she heard her name being called. Slowly, she turned around and locked eyes with Tom, who was weaving his way around Nikki, Keilah, and Harrison; obvious confusion was written on his face.
"Hi," she squeaked, mentally face-palming herself at how timid she sounded.
"I didn't know you were coming," he admitted, coming to a stand-still once they were only feet apart.
Amandla tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Your mom invited my mom and I the other day," she explained, biting down on her lip. "I uh, I wasn't sure if you knew or not."
"No, I didn't. It's good to see you though," the brown-haired actor breathed, holding himself back from complimenting on how beautiful she looked. She gave him a half-smile, nodding. "Uh, how are you? I-I mean how are you doing? I heard about..." Tom trailed off, not wanting to say Ethan's name in case it triggered anything.
Subconsciously, she winced at the question. Questions about her and Ethan's relationship were going to be asked at some point by those she saw in person, it was only a matter of time, but that didn't make talking about their relationship any easier. The only people she'd managed to talk to about Ethan with had been her mother, Zendaya, and Grayson. They were the only three she felt truly comfortable discussing how she felt with. She hadn't been able to bring herself to talk in-detail with Keilah and Harrison yet.
"I'm doing all right. How are you?" she ultimately replied, although her answer was nothing but a straight lie. It was taking everything in her not to ask if they could talk privately, and she was struggling to keep herself as composed as possible.
Tom frowned. "I'm doing all right too," he answered, unknowingly being equally as dishonest as she was.
Suddenly a pair of arms were wrapped around Amandla's waist and she jumped. Turning her head, she groaned when she saw that it'd been Harry who had snuck up on her. "Oh, you fucking tosspot," she grumbled, squirming as he hugged her from behind.
"Merry Christmas Eve to you too, Scrooge." Harry greeted, laughing.
"Do my ears deceive me or did you just call Harry a tosspot?" Sam retorted, joining the three.
Amandla rolled her eyes and relaxed against the curly-haired twin, who had fallen into another fit of laughter. "Your ears do not deceive you, Sam. Credit goes to Harrison for teaching me all the English slang and insults there are. You have been warned," she responded, smirking as he snorted.
Feeling somebody's eyes on him, Harry averted his attention to Tom. Immediately, he noticed the narrowed eyes and silent glare his older brother was giving him. Gulping, he quickly removed his arms from Amandla and stepped to the side.
However, as soon as Harry had moved, Keilah had taken his place. Squeezing her from behind, Keilah stood on her tiptoes and pressed four kisses to Amandla's cheek. "Hey, pretty," she greeted, causing the girl in her arms to turn her head.
A tiny smile appeared on Amandla's lips and she giggled, "Hey."
"Wanna come to raid the desserts with me?" she questioned, raising a suggestive brow.
"Always." And at that, they flashed the Holland's a wave before parting.
"How is she?" Tom asked Harrison as he walked up to the brothers the second the two were out of earshot. "Amandla, I mean."
Harrison shrugged, sliding his hands into his pockets. "She's okay," he lied, knowing that the last time he opened his mouth, both Keilah and Amandla had chewed him out for it.
Sam and Harry shared glances. "Are you sure?" Sam questioned, crossing his arms.
"It's not my place, guys." Harrison sighed, giving them all pointed expressions.
They all nodded. "Got it."

"SO, WHAT ARE WE DOING FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY? 'Cause I was thinking since you're single now, a strip club could be fun, or just a club in general. Go get drunk, have a one-night stand with a stranger, and wake up with a migraine." Keilah mused, taking a sip of champagne.
Amandla rolled her eyes and leaned against the doorframe that led out of the living room. "I was just going to go out to lunch with you and Mom, and then spend the night watching comfort movies. I really don't want to do anything big or fancy this year. So, that means no surprises. Got it?" she asked, giving her best friend a pleading stare.
The latter scowled. "Bold of you to assume I had any surprises planned," she remarked, downing the rest of her drink.
"Did you?" the blonde countered.
Keilah shook her head. "For once, no. I've been so busy with other shit I haven't had time to plan anything. That doesn't mean Harrison doesn't have any tricks up his sleeve, however."
Groaning, Amandla closed her eyes. "His surprises are worse than yours, please tell me he doesn't," she exclaimed, crossing her arms.
"I don't know. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't," the shorter girl sang, swaying side-to-side as a smirk played on her lips.
"Look, the only surprise I want is for there to be no surprise." Amandla retorted.
The smirk on Keilah's face grew and she shook her head. "We don't always get what we want," she shrugged innocently.
"Tell me about it," the blonde grumbled bitterly, watching as the other YouTuber's face instantly fell. "I wasn't talking about E—I'm fine. Seriously." She quickly defended before Keilah had a chance to respond. Just by the look on her face, she already knew what she was thinking.
Her best friend sighed. "What happened with E was going to happen at some point. You have to know that. Not all good things last forever, and it was time for your story to close. Besides, something better is coming, or rather someone."
Furrowing her brows, Amandla watched as Keilah glanced at something behind her. Turning her head, she nearly jumped when she noticed that Tom was standing behind her. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but I wanted to know if we could talk," he proposed, his eyes darting from the curious gaze of Keilah to the anxious one of the girl in front of him.
"Yeah, sure." Amandla nodded, shooting Keliah a glare as Tom gently took hold of her hand and guided them out of the living room.
The two walked in silence as they weaved their way between people lingering in the hallway, their hands still connected as they turned left and walked up the stairs. A small smile tugged at the YouTuber's lips as she glanced at the photographs she'd only seen weeks ago; every time she saw them, she couldn't help but smile. Each photograph was so genuine and real, and she admired the moments Nikki had managed to capture over the years.
Photographs were an artifact that the blonde loved and cherished very much. They were the keys to lost memories and old friends and family members that she loved and missed.
"I'm sorry for pulling you away from Keilah and everyone else downstairs," Tom began nervously, gesturing for Amandla to enter his old bedroom first. Blinking, she just nodded softly and stepped inside.
The moment the brown-haired Brit closed the door, Amandla gulped, pushing away the nerve to spin around and just tell him everything she'd wanted to since November. However, she didn't. She'd been brought up here for a reason, and not because she had asked to speak to him alone. "I know it uh, it's not Christmas day yet, but I wanted to give you something." Tom confessed, picking up the small velvet cherry-red box with a gold bow off of his dresser.
Turning, Amandla's mouth dropped slightly as she glanced at the box. "Tom, I—" she started, but he stepped forward, shaking his head.
"I wasn't and don't expect a gift in return, truly. This is just something I wanted to get for you," he said softly, holding the present out to her.
Darting her eyes from it and back to the boy in front of her, she hesitantly reached for it. Once she'd wrapped her fingers around it, she went and sat down on the edge of the bed. The cherry-red box was soft to the touch and was the same kind of case that jewelry stores used when packaging jewelry. Biting down on her lip, she opened it up and gasped.
There, resting in the box, was a gold necklace with two small golden rings hooked together. One was slightly larger than the other and had the words 'My sunshine' written in her father's tiny handwriting, engraved along the outer rim of it, while the smaller ring had the words 'I love you' also, in his tiny handwriting, engraved along the outer rim of it as well.
Tears welled up in her hazel-green eyes and she covered her mouth, staring silently at the necklace. It was the most touching and thoughtful gift she'd ever received in her entire life, and the fact that the words were in her father's handwriting made it so much more personal. She hadn't seen his handwriting or heard those words from him since January. She had never been able to bring herself to read any of his letters or watch any videos of him since the funeral.
His death had registered with her and she felt his absence every day, but she was still unable to look at anything related to him without crying. This was the first time she'd seen anything linked to him in a really long time, and it felt so good.
Staring at the words engraved on the rings, she felt as if she'd gotten a part of her heart and soul back.
"Your mum helped me out by emailing a copy of a letter your father wrote you right before he passed," Tom spoke up, staring down at the silent blonde tenderly. Breaking her fixated gaze on the necklace, she looked up at him; her eyes glazed over with tears. "She told me how hard Thanksgiving was for the both of you, especially since you both spent it by yourselves, and I know that this is your first Christmas without him. I just wanted to get you something that might make you smile or remind you that even though he may not be here physically, it doesn't mean that he's gone."
A small tear trailed down her cheek and Amandla quickly wiped it away, glancing back down at the case. "This—" her voice cracked and she cleared her throat, shaking her head slightly, "this is the most thoughtful gift I've ever gotten in my entire life, Tom. I—I don't—"
"You don't have to say anything, Mandy," the actor reassured her, but she shook her head.
Placing the present on the bed, she stood up and wrapped her arms around him. Immediately, he pulled her closer and squeezed her lightly.
After a moment, she rested her chin on his shoulder before dipping her head and snuggling it in the crook of his neck. The hold Tom had on her instinctually tightened, and his eyes fluttered shut. Without realizing it, he'd tangled his fingers in her hair and began drawing shapes on her back.
His actions were small, but Amandla could feel her heart racing against her ribcage faster than it had in years. A flow of electricity and warmth was spreading throughout her body as they remained in the other's arms silently; both of them soaking in the moment.
Every inch and fiber of her being was yelling at her to say the three words she never got the chance to tell him. It felt like the perfect and the right time to tell him, but she was doubting herself. What if it's too soon or he thinks I'm rebounding after Ethan? Or if I'm only saying this because of the gift? She had too many doubts floating in her mind and there was so much she wanted to say to him, right then and there, that she couldn't fully think straight.
"Thank you," she choked out, biting down on her lip. Maybe it was better not to say anything yet.
Squeezing her again, Tom smiled; trying to hold himself back from saying everything he wanted to say to her at that moment. There was so much on his mind and he had several questions, but it didn't feel right to ask them right now. So, he settled on something he'd been wanting to reiterate to her.
"I don't know how you feel and you don't have to say it back, I'm not expecting you to, but I love you, Amandla," he whispered, letting out a shaky breath as he prepared for her to pull away.
He said it. He had said the three words that she was holding herself back from saying.
Just as Tom expected her to, she pulled away and his eyes opened. As she drew back, she rested her hands against his chest while his remained secured around her waist.
Taking in a deep breath, she let it out quietly as her eyes locked with his. "I love you," she breathed, watching as the actor's eyes widened in surprise.
"Wait, what?" he blinked, not entirely sure if she'd actually said the words back or if he was hallucinating what he wanted to happen.
It was blatantly clear to the blonde that Tom genuinely hadn't expected her to say it back by the expression on his face. "I said, I love you," she chuckled, a small smile spreading across her cheeks.
Blinking again, he cleared his throat as he tried to compose himself. "I love you." Tom repeated, tilting his head to the right, still not entirely convinced that this was happening. The thought of her ever saying it back or of her touching him like this again had seemed so unlikely and quite literally impossible to imagine. He never thought he'd get even get a piece of what he lost back, but here he was: hearing the woman he was so helplessly in love with repeat those three words back to him.
"I love you." Amandla replied, her eyes shining brightly as she stared at the brown-haired boy endearingly. "I uh, I wanted to ask you at some point tonight if we could talk because there's a lot I want to talk about with you. Saying 'I love you' was one of the things, but I also want to tell you everything that I couldn't before. I know it's Christmas Eve and the holidays, so I'm fine with postponing that discussion to a later time."
Tom quickly nodded. "I-I want to talk with you more than anything, but I think there's a lot that both of us have to say and I want to have more than just a few hours. So, could we postpone it to the day after Christmas? I want us to be able to say everything we need to and take time to have a true conversation," he explained, subconsciously running his hand up and down her back.
Nodding, she smiled. "That sounds good to me," she agreed, noticing how he was glancing down at her lips. Bringing her hand up, she cupped his cheek and ran her thumb across it.
However, before either of them could do or say anything else, there was a knock at the door. "Tom? Are you and Andie in there?" Paddy's voice could be heard from the other side and the two detached themselves.
"Yeah, you can come in," Tom called, running a hand through his hair as Amandla sat back down on the edge of the bed.
The door opened the tiniest bit and Paddy peaked his head in, making sure he wasn't interrupting anything serious. "I wanted to see if Andie would play video games with me and Landon," he smiled, referring to one of the family's many cousins.
"Of course," Amandla answered, "I'll be downstairs in a second."
Nodding, Paddy turned to leave but hesitated. "I know I'm not really supposed to say anything because I'm younger and it's not my business, but it's really nice seeing you two around together," the youngest Holland admitted, turning to face the ex-couple. "I missed you, Andie, and it's really great having you back around."
A soft and sincere look clouded the blonde's face and she gave the boy a small smile. "I missed you too, Pads. I like being back around," she confessed.
"Good. I'll uh, I'll see you downstairs in a few minutes," he said awkwardly, leaving the two alone once more.
"The entire family, including me, has really liked having you back." Tom spoke up after a minute of silence, rocking on the backs of his heels as he looked over at Amandla. "You're the first and only woman I've ever dated that they love this much."
Glancing down at her hands, she bit the inside of her cheek. "Like I told your mom, I love your family too," she replied honestly, reaching over and picking up the cherry-red case.
Smiling happily, Tom stepped forward and outstretched his hand. "Here, let me put it on for you," he insisted.
As Amandla stood up from the bed, she handed it over. Pulling the necklace out, he gestured for her to turn around. After shifting her back to face him, Amandla bit down on the bottom of her lip as she moved her hair. The cold touch of the necklace and Tom's hands almost made her shiver as he put the necklace on.
Clasping the chain, Tom took a step back and watched as she turned around, her hair cascading over her shoulders as she let it go. She looked beautiful. For a moment, his breath hitched as he watched her smile down at the necklace, her fingers running over the chain.
"You gave me a missing piece of my heart back tonight," she mumbled, holding the rings between her fingers. "This is the first time since the funeral that I feel like he is still here with me. I will never be able to thank you enough for that."
Shaking his head, Tom grabbed her free hand. "You don't have to, and he's always with you," he murmured gently.
At his words, Amandla's gaze raised and she couldn't help but feel at peace the second their eyes locked. "This is going to sound so cheesy, but you're my boomerang," she stated suddenly, laughing as she watched a confused expression cross over the actor's face.
"What?"
"You're my boomerang," she repeated, still laughing as she swung their hands' back-and-forth. "No matter how far I throw you, you'll always find some way to come back to me."
Tom's face dropped at her statement and he felt his breath catch. No matter how far I throw you, you'll always find some way to come back to me. Her words were true. He, Tom Holland, was her boomerang and that fact made his heart swell.
"Well, I should get downstairs and whoop Paddy and Landon's asses on Apex. Thank you, again, Tom." Amandla nodded, heading toward the bedroom door.
A strong yearning tugged at Tom's heart as he watched her walk away. Biting down on his lip, he stepped forward. "I love you," he spoke right as she grabbed the doorknob.
Looking over her shoulder, Amandla smiled. "I love you."

hey everyone!! i hope you all enjoyed the eighty-seventh chapter!
TOMANDLA FINALLY GOT THEIR PROPER "I LOVE YOU" MOMENT!!! YOU'RE WELCOME!!!
the talk that the two of them will have is in chapter 89 and it is very long and very emotional. there's a lot that amandla and tom have to work through and it's not going to be an easy road ahead. there are good/happy moments, but at the end of the day, what happened isn't something small and it genuinely did affect amandla. there's a lot to unpack.
i usually update much earlier in the day, but i have a load of college work to do that's due monday and i had an MRI this morning, which was fun but took a while. i'm updating early tomorrow though! anyway, i hope all of you are having a great weekend!
𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑: thank you all for taking the time out of your days to comment on this story. it means a lot and helps the story be spread to a wider audience &&& gives me the opportunity to grow as an author. all i ask is that people vote on each chapter, please. as a creator, it takes time to write and develop stories. especially social media-based ones because there's so much to take into consideration and the amount of time i've dedicated to finding graphics, screenshotting everything kelsey simone (and other characters) posts, making graphics, etc., is ridiculous. so please, vote on every chapter. it means a lot more than i could ever express.
i hope all of you enjoyed and had an amazing day!
don't forget to vote & comment!
