"THIS ISN'T A GOOD IDEA, YOUR MAJESTY." Sawyer said to Lucifer as she stood in front of the gates of the old internment camp. "You're not as strong as you once were."
"Thank you for reminding me that I'm getting weaker and we have no idea why." Lucifer said sarcastically, not looking at him. The nogitsune may be feeing off of her energy, but he wasn't that strong to make her that weak so soon — there was another reason that just hadn't come to light yet.
"Your own kingdom is rioting against you because you have feelings for the werewolf and you care for the human and his friends." Sawyer pointed out. "And you know that's the one little reason they will use to try to overthrow you. They won't like you killing one of the last remaining nogitsunes on Earth to save your humans."
"They'll try to overthrow me for any reason they see fit, this is no different." Lucifer argued. It was different, however, she's never had feelings for anyone and she still was in denial that she felt something for Derek — and caring for Stiles, that was different also. She would do anything to protect them and she would do anything to keep them happy and safe. No doubt this was all unheard of to the demons in Hell and they believed that she was weak now and no longer fit to rule. "There's another reason why I'm getting weaker, I just have to find out what it is."
"Maybe it has something to do with the visit you had with your brother." The demon suggested.
Lucy shook her head. "It can't be, that was just an illusion to try to distract me. This is something else."
"Whatever it is, you need to find out about it and destroy it as soon as possible."
"Believe me, once this is all over, I'm going to find out exactly why." She said to him and he disappeared just as Allison's car pulled up to the gates of Oak Creek also.
Allison got out of the car and went besides the devil. "How did you know they were here?" She asked her, shocked, they hadn't called her yet.
Lucy smirked. "This is where it all started." She answered, recalling where this nogitsune got summoned. "And my demons have been keeping an eye on you and reporting to me." The loyal ones that hadn't been trying to overthrow her were still looking out for the pack like she had requested and informing her of every thing that she would need to know.
"Oh." Allison muttered.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Lucy asked her, almost with a tone of worry. "You are mortal, after all."
"Lydia is my best friend, she would do the same for me if the roles were revered, I'm absolutely doing this." Allison said to her sternly.
Lucifer smiled at her as she placed a hand on her shoulder, what looked like a comforting move for Allison — but was really Lucifer looking into her future and how she would die, moving her hand away when she noticed that it would be of old she. "You're a brave girl, Allison Argent. Never change."
Allison's eyes widened as she never really had a moment like this with her, Lucy was always so close with Stiles and she only really talked to anyone else because of him, but that didn't mean she cared about them. But maybe she did.
"I know we never really talk or connected, but stay safe." Allison said and it made Lucifer chuckle.
"I can't die, but I should say the same goes for you." Lucifer winked. "And we did connect, Allison, I didn't kill you in your sleep and I don't plan on doing it ever either, and that counts for something to me."
The hunter giggled, a thought running through her mind as she couldn't help but think how strange it was wanting to be friends with the devil and how she was relieved that the devil thought of her as a friend.
Lucy looked at her. "Strange, isn't it?" She asked.
"Very strange." She agreed.
Before she could say anything else, Stiles' Jeep parked beside Allison's car and Stiles, Scott and Isaac got out of the car just as Kira came on to the scene.
They all stood at the gates looking slightly worried at the outcome of the night and Scott noticed it, causing him to speak up. "We've done this before, guys. A couple of weeks ago we were standing around just like this and we saved Malia, remember?" He asked, and the pack nodded. "That was a total stranger. This is Lydia."
"Like I said to Lucy, I'm here to save my best friend." Allison said sternly.
"And I'm here to save mine." Scott said looking at Stiles.
"Me too." Lucy smiled comfortingly at Stiles.
Isaac then shrugged. "I just didn't feel like doing any homework." He smirked and then walked through the gates.
Lucy rolled her eyes. "And the cute, loving moment's over. Can always trust Isaac to do that." She said sarcastically as she followed him inside, placing her hands into her jacket pocket.
The rest of the pack then followed the two into the grounds, with Scott and Stiles splitting away from them to find Lydia and cover more ground. The rest walked around the corner to see Noshiko standing there with the oni behind her.
"Kira, turn around and go home." She ordered her daughter. "Take your friends with you."
"I take orders from no one and neither do they." Lucifer snarled as she stalked around them.
"When I looked at the game I realised who I was actually playing." Kira said, recalling how her mother was trying to teach her the game of Go, stating she was playing as the nogitsune — but she wasn't. "I was playing you."
Allison raised her bow and arrow and aimed it them. "Call them off." She ordered.
"You think you can take them alive? You think you can save him?" Noshiko questioned.
"What if we can?" Kira asked back.
"I tried something like that seventy years ago. Your friend is gone." Noshiko said sternly once again.
Lucy growled. "Stiles doesn't have to die, neither did Rhys. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to try and save him now." The oni then pointed their swords at her for the mention of Rhys, feeling it was an emotional attack on Noshiko.
"Call them off, mom." Kira said.
Noshiko smiled. "I see I'm no longer the fox now, Kira. You are." Her smile then dropped. "But the nogitsune is still my demon to bury."
"Technically, mine." Lucifer interjected raising her hand. "Call the oni off and we can put the nogitsune down another way, and we make sure another innocent life doesn't go down with him." She ordered.
Noshiko smiled and the oni disappeared, causing Lucifer to growl at her as she didn't listen once again. "Do you realise what you are doing?" She said trying to lunge at her, but both Isaac and Kira tried to hold her back. "How can you be okay with practically sending a teenage boy to his death knowing he could be saved?"
"I will do whatever it takes to end this." Noshiko said sadly. Before she could say anything else, she gasped, causing the group to look at her in confusion as Noshiko lifted her hand and unclenched her fist to show the firefly in her hand losing its light.
"Mom?" Kira asked in worry.
"What is that?" Isaac asked. "What happening?"
Just as Lucy was about to explain that Noshiko no longer controlled the oni before they heard a voice call out of them. "It means there's been a change of ownership." The group turned to see the nogitsune standing behind them with the oni surrounding him. "Now they belong to me." He announced.
"Well, isn't that just peachy?" Lucifer muttered to herself with a snarl as her eyes never left the nogitsune's, noticing the small smirk that appeared on his face after he announced his new power.
The oni then charged at the group causing them to all motion to attack them back, which was nothing knew considering they had to defend themselves and Stiles against them several times already.
The nogitsune watched from the sidelines as they fought against the oni while Noshiko stood hiding in the background having no power anymore.
Stiles and Scott ran down the path, following Lydia's scent. "No, no, no. What are you guys doing here?" She asked them as Scott unlocked the gate.
"We're here for you, Lydia." Scott answered, feeling confused as to why she would ask that.
"Didn't you get my message?" Lydia asked again, recalling she had sent out several messages for them to not find her. "Who else is here? Who came here with you?" She questioned sternly.
"What do you mean?" Stiles asked.
"Who else is here?" Lydia snapped, a tear rolling down her cheek hoping what she predicted wouldn't be happening.
Back outside, the group was struggling to fend off the oni as it was the last tail that the nogtisune had snapped — they were stronger and faster than last time, and they were all unprepared for this, unlike Lucy.
Allison quickly blocked one of the oni's attack on Isaac and shoved them away to give him time to get up. "How do we stop them?" Isaac yelled out.
"You can't!" Noshiko yelled back.
Lucy clawed at one of the oni at the same time as another one swiped their sword across Isaac's stomach.
She growled out as another one tried to hit her with the sword, she blocked it by grabbing the blade with her hand, hissing as it cut her skin, the others joining in all attacking both her and Isaac.
Allison aimed her bow and arrow and let go of it, the arrow lodging itself in the oni's body, causing a bright yellow light to protrude from the wound before it exploded and disappeared in a heap of black smoke.
The group looked in shock, and Lucy noticed that the nogitsune's smirk dropped.
In a moment of distraction, another oni came in beside her and stabbed Allison in the stomach with their sword, causing everyone to gasp.
"No, no, no." Lucy said trying to fight against the constant attacks from the oni. The devil's hearing went quiet and everything else was just white noise, only being able to focus on Lydia's screech that she wished she couldn't hear as it would make the moment less solidified.
How did she not see it change?
"ALLISON!" Lucy roared with a burst of anger surging through her as she watched the oni rip the sword out of her friend's body, using her anger to shove the oni on top of her off of her and charge at it, ripping it's head off.
Scott ran to the gate just as he watched the Allison fall to the ground, catching her at the last moment as the oni surrounding them all disappeared.
Kira ran to the arms of her mother as Lucy and Isaac watched the past lovers. "Allison." Scott whispered to her, grabbing her attention.
"Did you find her? Is she okay — is Lydia safe?" Allison choked, barely being able to bring her voice louder than a whisper.
Scott brushed the hair out of her face and the tear off her cheek. "She's okay. Yeah." He said to her. Scott looked up at Lucy. "Save her, please." He begged.
Lucy didn't waste a second before running over to them and grabbing onto Allison's hand. "Hey— hey, Allison. I'm gonna save you, okay? Everything will go back to normal and you will get to live a long and happy life like you're supposed to, okay?" She said reassuringly — she wasn't sure if the reassurance was meant to go towards herself or Allison at that moment, but it didn't matter.
Allison nodded her head as she choked back a sob from the pain. "I trust you." She said.
Lucy pursed her lips as she tried to hold back a sob of frustration. "Okay, good girl. That's what we need. You're gonna be okay, I promise." She said placing her hand over Allison's wound and taking a deep breath. It was going to be hard considering how weak she was from all the blows and how weak she was becoming in the first place, but she had to try.
Allison wasn't supposed to die this way.
Lucy let her mind take control, and let it call on her divine powers that she had used on Scott's father to show once more to help someone she cared about. She felt the energy flow from her mind down along her arm and all the way to her hand and into Allison's wound and the group watched in astonishment as it began to glow — having never seen something like this before.
Within a second, the light got brighter and Lucy was thrown away to the side by a burst of energy causing everyone to shield their eyes and duck while Lucy was knocked unconscious, both Kira and Noshiko going to her side instantly wondering what had happened for it to react like that.
Scott scrambled to look at Allison's wound and prepared himself to watch it heal like he had done with his father but his heart dropped. "Did— did it work?" Allison struggled to say.
"I— I don't know." Scott noticed that the wound hadn't healed like it should have, but he didn't want to let her know that. She didn't want her to live her last few minutes in fear. He grabbed onto her blood covered hand to try and take her pain, but nothing was happening. "I can't." He started to hyperventilate. "I can't take your pain. Why can't I take your pain?"
"It's because it doesn't hurt." Allison whispered, looking into Scott's brown eyes. While Lucy didn't heal her, it no longer hurt — something she couldn't figure out as a good or bad thing, which she didn't want to waste precious time figuring out.
Scott realised what that meant, and it was becoming clear that Lucy's healing didn't work. "No." He said. He refused to let her life end like this.
Allison nodded and another tear fell out of her eye, which Scott quickly wiped away gently. "It's okay." She said with a sob. "It's okay."
"No, Allison." Scott refused.
"It's okay. It's perfect." She repeated and Scott shook his head as he cried. "I'm in the arms of my first love. The first person I ever loved. The person I'll always love." She weakly reached up and brushed her thumb over his cheek. "I love you, Scott McCall."
"Don't, please don't." He begged, he didn't want her to say goodbye. "Allison, don't, please."
"You have to tell my dad." Allison said, causing Scott to nod his head. "You have to tell him. Tell him-" She then began to take very short and quick breaths before she took her last one and closed her eyes, her hand falling to the side, completely limp.
It was as if the world went quiet once more, the only sound being heard were Scott's sobs as he cried over the death of his first love, reaching over to kiss her forehead.
Chris ran to the grounds and quickly halted, dropping his gun and stumbling to try and catch himself as he noticed the scene in front of him; everyone sharing the same looks of grief and defeat while Scott held the body of his daughter.
Scott could only look up and try to imagine that if Lucy was awake that she would be able to tell him that Allison was going up where she belonged.
