Scott knows all of Stiles Stilinski's friends. The circle is small, and at one point, it consisted of just him. They've gained a few more friends since welcoming the world of the supernatural—but Scott still has no idea who that girl is or where she came from into Stiles' life, and he's worried about Stiles' safety after what he's seen her do, "What the hell are you friends with?" Scott McCall asked his childhood friend as he barged into his home the day after. After what he and Isaac had seen at the school he pondered all night what Lucy was and how she managed to take down the Alpha twins so easily while he himself, Isaac, Boyd and Derek struggled to take them down.
Stiles swivelled around in his chair to see Scott and Isaac in his bedroom doorway. He had just finished packing his bag for the cross country meet that he was going to drive Scott and Isaac to the bus beforehand, and decided to sit down and begin some research on the darach and the devil.
"What do you think, Scott?" He asked.
The beta werewolf shrugged. "I don't know. Is she another alpha?" He asked his friend and Stiles immediately groaned. How could his friend be so dense?
"Scott, really think about this. Remember when all the bad stuff was happening in town with all the animals going crazy before all the sacrifices started?" Stiles asked, "We had a feeling that something really bad was going to come. What could be the worst thing ever to be on earth?"
Scott and Isaac both thought for a moment but then shrugged, what could be worse than what was already happening now? And how could Lucy be the worst thing ever?
"Lucy?" Isaac answered hesitantly. He thought that Stiles was hinting at the fact that she was the bad thing that was coming.
"Precisely!" Stiles yelled, throwing his hands up. He didn't know how else to to explain what she was or what she was doing there, he knew she would be able to do a better job of it. She told him that she was always going to be near and would hear him if he needed her, "Lucy!" He called out, hoping she wasn't lying and she didn't leave him to look stupid in front of his friends, who were giving him strange looks, "I know you're there, come out!"
The girl immediately appeared on top of Stiles' bed, looking bored. "What, am I Houdini now?" She asked, causing the three boys to jump at her sudden appearance. "Hello, boys." She said with a flirty tone.
The human boy turned to look at the devil, "Can you explain to them what you are so I don't have to?" He pleaded her. If he told them she was the devil they would think he was crazy, they already did since he brought up the idea of human sacrifices, but if he said, 'Lucy is the devil', they would send him to Eichen House.
She rolled her eyes at him and then held out her hand. "I'm Lucifer, your favourite, not-so-friendly, neighbourhood devil." She introduced herself. The boys looked at her like she was joking, and Stiles sighed. Her humour made it sound like she was playing around, "Murderer of men and women worldwide—and apparently now, goats."
"You're joking, right?" Scott asked her.
Stiles groaned again, "Scott, I've been giving you hints all day. I literally said to you that people say she's the devil." He said standing up to grab his bag.
Isaac then shrugged, "I guess it kind of makes sense." The enjoyment of violence, the super strength, the claws and the eyes; it all lead to her being the devil, and he was definitely freaking out on the inside about it. However, if he hadn't of turned into a werewolf, this would of been more crazy.
Lucy pouted at his fear, hearing his heartbeat, "Oh, don't be scared. You guys are fun and Stiles is helping me. I don't feel like killing you guys, you're safe." She said reassuringly, and looked at Stiles with a thumbs up, asking if she did good, which she only received a death glare.
"Helping you with what?" Scott asked with wide eyes. This situation was mind blowing, how was he not freaking out about being right in front of the devil? Why was she so human like and not caring at all about causing death and destruction?
"Kill whoever brought me here." She answered shrugging and stood up to follow Stiles. She felt like Stiles could have told his friends about her but she appreciated that he didn't without her verbal permission at the same time. She didn't really care who found out about her but the fact that he didn't say anything without her there made her like him more.
Once Stiles was out of hearing range for a moment she looked back at Scott, "Between us girls, you should probably get that wound checked out." She said referring to his stomach and the blood she could smell coming out of it. He should've healed by now from whatever it was, but he wasn't and the smell of blood was irritating her. He gave her a questioning look wondering how she could tell, she then tapped her nose in response and winked before following Stiles down to the car.
She knew that they would all have questions, but if they stayed in Stiles' room, they wouldn't go anywhere and it wouldn't bring her anywhere closer to finding the person responsible and Stiles had said he had figured out a possible lead to who it was, so she was going to stick by him until he told her.
She sat in the passenger seat of the car and neither of the teenage boys argued her decision and she couldn't tell if it was because they didn't want to sit next to her because they were scared of her. It was the second that Stiles began to drive that they fired questions at her.
"How old are you?" I've lost count.
"What are your abilities?" I'm a woman of many talents.
"Isn't Lucifer a man?" Sexist.
"Did you really make Eve eat the forbidden apple?" It was actually Adam.
"How did you get here?" Three poor virgins were sacrificed in a ritual and I was summoned.
"Are you here to stay?" Depends if I find a reason to stay after I kill who brought me here.
"Is everything in the Bible true?" Most of it is, yes.
"If you were raised by three human virgin sacrifices, does that mean that when this ritual is completed that the entirety of Hell will rise?" No, only myself and my father have the power to do that and I don't feel like raising Hell anytime soon, they're a pain to reign back in.
"Why did you smell the way you did when we first met?" I did literally just come from Hell, cut me some slack.
"Are we done with the interrogation or can we get on that damn bus?" She asked them back as they had been parked in front of the yellow bus for ten minutes while they pestered her with questions. The boys kept quiet, "Good." She added before opening the door and walking over towards the teacher.
He put his hands up to stop her, "Woah, where do you think you're going? This is for the cross country meet up, not Malibu Barbie contest." She looked into his eyes and began to read him.
Coach Bobby Finstock, teacher at Beacon Hills High School, sinner of wrath, sloth and pride. She then smirked at him, it was always easier to manipulate the sinners.
Her eyes slightly turned black, but only he could see as she said to him, "I'm on the cross country team, remember? I'm very fast." She said, compelling him.
He then blinked. "On the bus you get. Don't want to be late." He said and ushered onto the bus, winking at the wide eyed boys behind her. She walks onwards and waves to Boyd, who looks shocked that he's seeing her again, and then goes to sit towards the back of the bus.
Isaac goes to sit next to Boyd, and Stiles and Scott sit in front of Lucy. Stiles still wanted to keep an eye on her, he still didn't completely trust her, as any normal person wouldn't. She was the devil and he would be crazy to completely trust her.
Lucy leaned forward, "You doing okay?" She asked Stiles.
His heart jumped, "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He responded. It was strange to hear her ask if he was okay considering who she was.
She shrugged, "Not everyone responds well with being around someone of the divine, whether it be me or a normal angel or me. I need to know whether or not you feel like you're about to have a mental breakdown being around me." She responded. She could then practically read his thoughts, he was wondering why she was being so nice and caring about him. Lucy rolled her eyes, "I was an angel before I became the devil, remember?"
Stiles' eyes widened, wondering how she could read him so well, "Oh, right." He mumbled to himself and then pulled out his tablet and began to play games on it while the devil watched behind him, intrigued. Technology had advanced a lot since she had been on earth and she was very interested in looking at it and what it could do.
Scott eventually asked Stiles to help him study, all he had to do was read out a word and Scott would have to guess what the meaning of it was. Lucy watched as the werewolf began to zone out and Stiles tried to grab his attention.
Scott rubbed his forehead, "Sorry, what was the word?" He asked, trying to push back the flashbacks from the night before.
"Anachronism." Stiles read.
"Something that exists out of its normal time." Scott answered.
Stiles slid to the next slide on the tablet. "Nice. Okay, next word—incongruous."
"Um, can you use it in a sentence?" Scott asked and Lucy groaned as she was getting bored.
"Yes. Yes, I can." Stiles said, ignoring the devil
behind him, "It's completely incongruous that we're sitting on a bus right now, on our way to some stupid cross-country meet with the literal devil behind us after what just happened—incongruous." He said.
"Hey." Lucy pouted, feigning offence but was ignored by the two.
"Out of place, ridiculous, absurd." Scott answered.
"Perfect." Stiles slid to the next slide and Lucy leant forwards again. "Okay, next word."
"You promised me a lead and so far I've gotten nothing. I'm bored of this." She told him.
"Darach." Stiles then said, he was planning on bringing it up to Scott anyway, but the fact that Lucy had reminded him about the lead gave him even more of a push to bring it up. "Darach... it's a noun."
Scott didn't look impressed, "You have one of those here?" She asked.
"We don't know yet. The druid that we know thinks it might be a darach." Stiles told her and the girl groaned once more.
"Well, this just got a whole lot harder." Lucy then placed herself in the corner of the seat that was against the wall as she looked at the two boys in front of her, specifically Stiles as his expression told her to explain, "They're a pain in the ass to find, especially if they don't want to be found—even for me. If they're planning on going through with the entire ritual then it means they're juicing up for something big and it's going to be an absolute nuisance to get rid of them."
"Can we not talk about this right now?" Scott whined.
"We have to talk about this sometime, okay? We're going to be stuck on this thing for another five hours so why not now?" The human boy asked his friend. The look he received in return made him sigh and then read out the next word, "Intransigent."
"Stubborn, obstinate." Scott answered. The bus then ran over a bump, making the entire thing shake violently, with Scott not prepared to brace for it, it made his side ache and he groaned when the pain shot his side.
"Oh, buddy, you okay?" Stiles asked. He didn't receive an answer as Scott just tried to breathe through the pain, "We shouldn't of come. I knew it. We shouldn't of come." He shook his head and Lucy looked at him confused. She had spent the whole night wondering around the woods looking for souls and sinners to kill so she could regain her strength to her full potential, which she would need to keep up, especially if she was going to go up against a darach at its most powerful.
"We had to." Scott told his friend, "There's safety in numbers."
"There's also safety in devils." Stiles pointed at Lucy.
"Don't forget there's also death in numbers." Lucy added, "It's called a massacre, and the ones who orchestrate them are so much fun to punish. If you want to keep this whole school thing going, the synonyms for massacre are bloodbath, carnage, slaughter, butchery..."
"Okay, Lucy, we get it." Scott told her, and she smiled cheekily at him.
"Do you like frustrating people?" Stiles asked Lucy.
"Well, yeah, I like to bring out the worst in people, especially if I'm bored." She shrugged, "I also like to murder and punish sinners when I'm bored."
"Okay, don't let Lucy be bored. Noted." Stiles said to himself. Scott then groaned in pain once more and Stiles sighed, "Okay, Scott, I'm telling coach that—"
"No. No, no, no." Scott shook his head, "I'm alright."
"Liar." Lucy fake coughed, "Don't lie, Scotty, it's bad for your cholesterol."
"Just let me see it." Stiles put his tablet down and went to lift up Scott's shirt but the werewolf slapped his hand away lightly in refusal, saying that he was fine, "Just let me see it, okay?" He persisted, "Or I'll have to use excessive force—and by excessive force, I mean Lucy."
Scott looked back at Lucy who twinkled her fingers at him and then back at Stiles. "Okay." He said softly and then lifted up his shirt to reveal large, bloody gashes on his side that hadn't healed yet.
"Oh, dude." Stiles said in shock.
"I know it's bad but it's because they're from an alpha. It'll take longer to heal." Scott told his friend.
"First of all, I'm offended if you went to fight more alphas without me. I love doing that." Lucy chipped in, "Second of all, even if they were from an alpha, they should've been healed by now unless you fought them less than an hour ago—which you didn't."
"Yeah, how come Boyd and Isaac are fine then?" Stiles asked but Scott didn't answer his question. The werewolf only rested his head against the window.
"I can't believe he's dead." He suddenly spoke up. "I can't believe Derek's dead."
"Who?" Lucy asked.
"No one you'll like." Stiles instantly answered, "Or that I like, for that matter. He's evil—actually you might like that, never mind, forget I said anything."
Before Lucy could question him more about this Derek character, a whistle was blown as the coach yelled at two students to get back in their seats. The coach looked at one of the students at the very front of the bus.
"Jared, again, car sick? Every ti—how do you even get on the bus?" Jared only groaned in response, "Look at me. No, don't look at me. Look at the horizon. Keep your eyes—keep your eyes on the horizon." Coach Finstock then looked at Scott who looked equally as ill, "McCall, not you too." He groaned.
"No, coach, I'm good." Scott yelled out trying to compose himself, but his face clearly showed that he was in pain.
"Hey, Scott, you're bleeding again." Stiles noticed the red liquid staining his grey t-shirt, "And don't tell me because it's taking longer to heal, okay? Because I'm pretty sure that still bleeding means not healing, like, at all."
Lucy interrupted the boys by tapping them on their shoulder and pointing over at one of the alpha twins. "Hey, thing one over there is listening to your friends' conversation." She informed them.
"Is he gonna do something?" Stiles asked her.
"Not in front of this many people." She answered. "Or me in general."
"Okay, well, what about the two ticking time bombs sitting right near him?" Stiles asked, pointing at Boyd and Isaac.
"They won't do anything either." Scott answered, knowing them better than Lucy did.
"At least not here." Lucy added as she watched Boyd look at Ethan angrily.
"What if they do; are you two going to stop them?" Stiles asked, but then shut his eyes remembering that Lucy thrived off of chaos and how she mentioned loving werewolves fighting, "Let me rephrase, Scott, will you stop them if they do something?"
"If I have to." Scott answered Stiles.
"Hey, I might jump in and throw a few punches, or I might stop them in general. It just depends on my mood." She defended herself.
The bus then came to a stop and Lucy looked towards the front windshield to see that there were loads of traffic, cars were bumper to bumper and it seemed to continue way further down and behind the bend. She then overheard Isaac say that there was a jackknifed tractor a few miles in front of the bus that was causing the traffic.
What amused her the most was that she then heard Boyd beginning to growl, Scott hearing it also and tried to get up. "Scott?" Stiles questioned.
"Boyd. He's gonna do something." Scott told him.
"How do you know?" Stiles asked.
Lucy rolled her eyes, "Look at his hands, genius." She pointed at Boyd's hands, his claws completely out as they gripped the vinyl bus seat in front of him. She then grabbed Scott by the shoulder and shoved him back down, forcing him to sit, "You could barely handle Stiles with the shape you're in, let alone an angry werewolf. Let the big kids handle this one, you focus on healing." She told him before walking over to Boyd.
Lucy couldn't believe she was about to stop werewolves fighting when she loved to watch them go head to head, but even she knew it would be stupid to expose themselves like that on a bus with a whole bunch of humans on it, her father would punish her even more if that happened.
She walked towards Boyd and grabbed his hand, pulling it away from their eyes and crouched down beside him, "Let go." He growled at her, trying to hide the shock he felt of how strong she was when he tried to pull his hand away from her.
"As much as I am all for you ripping into that werewolf, unless you have some brilliant plan that doesn't expose you and the rest of us, I am telling you right now—don't do it." She told him.
"I don't care about a plan. I just want to kill him." He said and then thrashed around in his seat, trying to get away from them as she and Isaac held him down.
"Scott cares." She reminded him. "And I know that you care what he thinks."
"Do I?" Boyd challenged.
Lucy then sighed, knowing what she would have to do in that moment. She grabbed Boyd by the face, forcing him to look into her eyes as she began to compel him, "Calm down." She ordered him.
Boyd's claws retracted and he looked calmer, he no longer looked like he was going to go kill Ethan, "Okay." He said and Lucy walked back over towards Scott and Stiles.
"Crisis averted?" The human asked her, hopefully.
"For now. I didn't exactly give him a time limit on the whole compulsion thing so unless that Ethan kid does something to piss Boyd off, we should be okay." Lucy explained to them while she sat back down.
"Well, we've got another problem." Lucy looked at him expectantly, wondering what could possibly make the situation worse in the two minutes she had been away from them, "Ethan keeps checking his phone, like every five minutes. It's like he's waiting for something, you know, like a message or a signal of some kind."
"How is that a problem?" Lucy questioned him. "Your idea of a problem is very strange to me."
"Because it's something evil though, I can tell." Stiles continued, "I have a very perceptive eye for evil, but you know that." He said to Scott who then looked at Lucy.
"Obviously." He mumbled and Lucy scowled at him, "I don't like him sitting with Danny." He then said.
"Yeah, neither do I." Stiles added.
"Do you want me to do something about it?" Lucy questioned them. Stiles didn't answer, instead he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, "What are you doing?"
"I'm gonna ask Danny and see what Ethan is waiting for." Stiles answered and began to text Danny. Seconds later, a text chime was heard from a few seats in front of them as Danny received Stiles' text. The boy looked back at the three and shook his head, and Stiles' face dropped.
"Nice one, idiot." She told him and Stiles continued to text Danny, pestering to ask Ethan why he keeps checking his phone even though Danny refused.
Danny eventually put his phone in his pocket and tried to ignore Stiles. "Well, that worked. What now?" She asked. She then watched as Stiles began to spam Danny with hundreds of text messages, most of which were just a gargle of words and letters that didn't even make sense, her eye twitching as she heard the continuous annoying sound of Danny's text chime. "Oh." She mumbled.
She tried blocking her ears to get rid of the sound and cursed her very advanced hearing as she could still hear it. She then saw as Danny and Ethan began to talk, the alpha turning around to look at them, Scott and Stiles immediately ducking down and hiding while Lucy couldn't care less and looked at him unbothered. "Very subtle, boys." She said sarcastically.
Stiles' phone chimed and he looked at his phone, reading the text quickly while Scott and Lucy read it over his shoulder.
DANNY: Someone close to him is sick. Might not make it through the night.
"Ennis?" Scott questioned.
"Who?" Lucy asked again. She really needed a briefing on who everyone was if she was going to be hanging around them.
"Does that mean he's not dead?" Stiles asked Scott.
"Not yet." Scott confirmed.
"What a shame." Lucy commented sarcastically.
