CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE ━━ space and relax

The group had been setting up incase the Governor does attack them. Josie just wanted to be on her own, doing anything to protect the prison.

Glenn had tried to speak to her, but Josie had pushed him away, like she was pushing everyone else away. She just wanted to be alone, but she didn't know why and she didn't want to explain her herself to anyone.

What she went through, she never wanted anyone else to have to go through that. But, she had to do that to ensure Glenn's safety.

But Josie wasn't the only one acting weird, so was Rick. After he had practically threatened Tyreese and Roman's group to leave, he continued to scream at the same area.

Josie just sat in her cell, looking after Judith. Everyone else was planning to attack the Governor, and Josie could hear Glenn's voice.

Josie sat on the floor, Judith on her lap as Josie pulled faces to make the baby laugh. Judith's bubbling laughter brought a smile on Josie's face.

Josie felt bad for Judith, having to grow up in a world like this, same for Carl, and even Beth and Tiffany. They had to grow up quick.

And so did Josie. She use to be a careless girl, with her brother, being her sarcastic self and finding the joy in everything.

Now, she had murdered a person. Her brother was dead. And she was scarred—probably for life. But she was glad it was her it happened to, and nobody else.

She looked up when she heard footsteps, seeing Beth with a weary smile. "Hey." She softly said as Josie sent her a weak smile, that didn't reach her eyes. "I can take her, if you want to relax?" Beth suggested as Josie turned to Judith, who held out her arms for Beth.

"Looks like she's missing you." Josie chucked quietly, standing up as she carefully passed Judith over to Beth. "You're really good at this, by the way."

Beth smiled at the compliment, looking down at Judith. "Thanks, Josie." Beth smiled, "And so are you."

"I helped raise a baby Carl, I'm use to the Grimes babies." Josie shrugged her shoulder, her voice slightly raspy as Beth chuckled.

"Well, I hope you're okay. Get some rest." Beth told her, a genuine smile on her face as Josie nodded, squeezing Beth's arm as she watched the blonde leave.

Josie stared at her cell wall, her back facing the door as she curled herself up into a ball. She analysed every crack in the wall and the dents.

She ignored the footsteps growing closer to her cell, keeping her eyes on the cell as she saw a shadow against the door frame, but she remained still. She knew it was Glenn, she could tell his footsteps apart from everyone else's—something Daryl had taught her on the road.

"Where have you been?" Glenn asked, cautiously, looking down at Josie's frame. But Josie didn't move or say anything. She stayed still—motionless, making Glenn sigh. "We need to find out how the walkers are getting into the tombs." He added.

But Josie didn't say anything, once again, making Glenn breathe out, leaning on the bunkbed. "Are we gonna talk about this? "

"Thought you were done with talkin'?" Josie uttered, her eyes remaining on the wall. "Isn't that what you told Rick?"

"Jo, you need to talk about it." Glenn told her as she rolled over, her brows furrowed.

"I do? Or you do?" Josie quizzed, her brow raised. "Because you seem more affected by what happened to me than I am." Josie mumbled, avoiding any eye contact with Glenn.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Glenn questioned, confused by her sudden change of tone.

"What do you want me to say Glenn? How he told he to take off my shirt or he was going to kill you?" Josie scoffed, shaking her head. "How he came up behind me, pushed me down onto the table and pushed himself against me. And ran his hands all over me." Her voice broke as she turned back around, looking at the wall as she swallowed thickly.

"Did he?" Glenn's voice trembled as Josie squeezed her eyes shut, bitting down on her tongue.

"Rape me?" Josie looked over at him, her eyes teary as she shook her head. "No, he didn't rape me." She licked her lips as she sat up, looking up at Glenn. "Does that make you feel better?"

"Josie, i-"

"I had a choice." Josie nodded her head. "I either take off my shirt or he would take off your hand or kill you." Josie sniffled as she blinked the tears away. "And i had heard Merle beating the shit out of you in the other room, whilst I couldn't do anything—when I wanted to help you."

"Jo, I'm sorry..." Glenn breathed out as he held out his arm for Josie, but she shook her head, moving away.

"Glenn..." She exhaled, looking at his hand as he lowered it. "You got your answer." She looked back up at him. "I just want to be alone." She mumbled as Glenn nodded his head, giving her one final glance before leaving the cell.

Tiffany knew something had happened to Josie, and she knew she didn't want to tell anyone about it.

But Glenn was anger driven...he wanted to kill this Governor for whatever he did to Josie. She watched Glenn storm out of the cell block, making her sigh, carefully handing Judith back to Beth as she followed him outside.

Glenn walked towards the car, making Tiffany shout towards him. "Where the hell are you goin'?" Tiffany placed her hands on her hips, looking at Glenn as he turned around. "You goin' to go kill the Governor?"

"No, Tiffany." Glenn shook his head as Tiffany walked towards him. "I'm just going out there." He added as Tiffany raised her brow.

"Then I'm coming with you." Tiffany shrugged her shoulders as Glenn shook his head again.

"I got it." He turned around as Tiffany scoffed.

"By yourself? Are you brain dead?" Tiffany asked as Glenn turned back around. "Genuine question, Glenn. Because how can you think that is a good idea?"

"I can't just sit on my hands, Tiffany." Glenn retorted, frown on his face as Tiffany raised a brow.

"You went on a simple formula run and got the crap beat out of you." Tiffany breathed out. "And Josie was attacked." She added as Glenn's face fell, slightly.

"Are you saying this is my fault?" Glenn asked, pointing to himself as Tiffany scoffed, shaking her head. "I did what I could!"

"I know! And so does Josie!" She yelled back. "So, don't yell at me!" She narrowed her eyes, pointing at him as Glenn breathed out. "Look, Josie is the only family I have left, except from this group. She's like my sister, Glenn." Tiffany spoke softly as she talked about Josie. "And since the start, I knew you'd do anything to protect Josie, and I'm sure Rick sees that you. He practically trusts you with Josie's life, being the only family she has left" Tiffany explained as Glenn looked at the ground. "But this rage..." Tiffany shook her head. "It's going to get you killed, and I'm not going to have to be the one to tell Josie you got yourself killed!" She hissed before turning back around and walking into the prison, leaving Glenn to storm off into the car.

Josie was with Judith all day, feeding her and making sure the young child was okay. But guns started to fire, making Josie jump, cradling Judith in her arms.

"What's going on?" She heard Riley yell from downstairs, making Josie walk out of the cell, walking down the stairs as the bullets continued to fire.

"Take her, okay, make sure you and Tiffany stay in here!" Josie told her, carefully handing Judith to Riley as the Greene nodded her head.

Josie ran towards where all the guns were, grabbing one as she also grabbed her sword, running out of the prison and almost getting shot, making her take cover.

She loaded her gun, looking up at the man shooting down at Maggie from the lookout tower.

Josie squeezed her eyes shut before looking through the scope, firing multiple times as she aimed at the man, successfully killing him as his body fell from the tower.

"Where is everyone?" Josie yelled over to Maggie, who shrugged.

"I-I don't know!" Maggie yelled back over. "My daddy's down there!" Maggie pointed to the other fence, making Josie's heart drop.

"Stay here! Get everybody inside!" Josie yelled as she quickly got up, running towards the gate as Maggie ran towards Beth and Carl.

Josie dodged any bullets firing her way, pulling the gun strap around her as she took out her sword, seeing the walkers move towards the limping Hershel.

Michonne also made her way towards Hershel, swinging her katana at the walkers that piled out of the truck.

Josie looked over to the fence, seeing the Governor with a smirk on his lips, firing his gun into the air.

Josie's face twisted with anger as she swapped her sword for her gun, ignoring the walkers making their way towards Josie as she aimed it at the Governor.

She could do it. She just had to aim for the head, or even his heart. She narrowed her eyes, ignoring her shaky hands as she looked through the scope, getting an aim on him.

Josie fired the bullet, watching as it hit into his shoulder. At least she hit him. She didn't realise the walkers had grown close until she heard the squelching of blood from behind her, making her spin around to see Michonne, her katana raised.

Josie gave her a thankful nod as she turned back to the walkers, firing at every one of them as a car drove past her and Michonne.

Josie ran towards Hershel, as did Michonne as Glenn got out of the car, helping Hershel into the car as Josie and Michonne quickly got in.

Josie breathed out heavily as she squeezed her eyes, looking over to Michonne, who eyed the orange truck.

She had no clue where Rick was, or if he was okay. She hoped he was okay. Glenn drove the car back into the prison, the four quickly getting out as Maggie helped her father.

"You fucking idiot!" Tiffany hissed as she pulled Josie into a hug, the brunette hugging her back. "You just ran out in the middle of gun fire, leaving me and Riley behind."

"I got a hit on the governor." Josie breathed out, a small grin on her face as tiff pulled out of the hug. "Only in his shoulder, unfortunately." She gritted her teeth as everyone looked at her.

Rick was okay. And Daryl was back...with Merle. Everyone had made their way back into the cell block, each person having their own opinion if they should stay, or leave.

"We're not leaving." Rick told them, throwing a gun around him as he told everyone around them.

"We can't stay here." Hershel told him, leaning on the wall beside Riley.

"What if there is another sniper?" Maggie asked from beside Michonne and Josie, shaking her head as she looked at Rick.

"We can't even go outside." Beth added, a sad look on her face.

"Then pricks filled our garden with walkers." Tiffany narrowed her eyes, pointing outside as Rick breathed out.

"If Rick says we're not running, we're not running." Glenn spoke to everyone, hand on his hip as Tiffany frowned from beside him.

"No, better to live like rats." Merle uttered from outside of the locked gate, making Josie squeeze her eyes closed, clenching her jaw.

"Man, shut up. You have no say in this." Josie told him, shaking her head as Merle tilted his, lifting his hands up in defence.

"I mean, we should've slid out of here last night, live another fight and day." Merle cut continued as he leaned on the gate. "But we lost that window, didn't we? I'm sure he's got scouts on every road by now."

"We ain't scared of that prick." Daryl grumbled from the top layer of the cell block, looking down at his brother.

"Y'all should be. That truck through the fence thing?" He spoke, talking about the orange truck. "That's him running the door bell, especially since Jo Jo fired one into him." He told them as Josie shook her head, narrowing her eyes. "We might have some thick walls to hide behind, but he's got the guns and the numbers." Merle reminded them. "And if he takes the fight ground around this place, shoot." He simply said. "He could just starve us out if he wanted to."

"Let's put him in the other cell block." Tiffany scoffed, pointing at Merle with a glare.

"No." Daryl shook his head, looking down at the blonde. "He's got a point."

"It's all his fault!" Tiffany half-yelled, looking over at Josie, who leaned against the wall, looking over at Michonne, who also glared at Merle. "He started this!"

"What's the difference whose fault it is?" Beth spoke from beside Carol, looking down at everybody. "What do we do?"

"I say we should pack our backs and get the hell out of here." Riley looked up at her sister, then Rick. "Now Axel's dead. We can't just sit here!" Riley spoke to Rick, who shook his head, walking away.

Hershel must've had enough as he stood up from the steps, grabbing his crutches and yelling at Rick. "Get back here!" Josie slightly jumped, looking over at Hershel with wide eyes.

Rick stopped in his tracks as Hershel walked over to him. "You're slipping Rick. We've all seen it." Hershel pointed out as Rick looked at him. "We understand why, but now is not the time." Hershel told him. "You once said this isn't a democracy. Now you have to own up to that!"

Rick turned around, looking at Hershel as the man for continued. "I put my family's life in your hands!" Hershel nodded at Rick. "So get your head clear and do something."

Josie stared at Rick, biting down on her tongue as she held the chain around her neck. This wasn't all Ricks fault. He was trying his hardest and he had just lost his wife. Josie would try to help Rick, getting out of her own misery and trauma. She needed to help her people, help Rick.
