CHAPTER TWENTY NINE ━━ savannah
It had been a couple of weeks after the fall off Woodbury and the rise of the prison. The original group helped grow the community, bringing people in to help them.
And everybody went on frequent runs, especially Michonne and Josie. The pair had travelled near enough everywhere searching for things. From Macon, Atlanta and savannah.
The pair knew there was a whole other meaning for travelling. It was to maybe find the Governor, but they found nothing.
But Michonne and Josie persisted with their usual runs, and they were currently in savannah.
The two rode on their horses, looking around at the train tracks. Josie tightly held onto the reigns, looking up at Michonne. "How long is this run gonna be?" Josie asked, making the woman turn to her.
"Two days, probably. Savannah is a big place. We'll have to cut through Macon on the way back." Michonne answered as Josie let out a hum. "We'll find a place to settle down tonight."
"Yeah, I don't fancy sleeping in the middle of these train tracks." Josie breathed out a chuckled, nodding down to the train tracks. "It would be so uncomfortable."
"Damn right." Michonne grinned, agreeing with Josie. Michonne turned bag around, her gaze narrowing as her eyes landed on a train. "Hold up."
Josie frowned as she looked forwards, frowning at the train. "How long do you think that's been there?" Josie questioned, raising a brow as she turned to Michonne.
"No clue." Michonne answered her, pulling on her horses reigns and pulling it to a holt. "Let's check it out, see if there is anything useful."
Josie nodded her head, clicking her tongue to signal the horse to stop, and the horses did. Josie jumped off of her horse, holding onto its reign's as she moved towards the trees, tying the reign's around it.
Michonne did the same as she pulled out her katana, looking at the train in front of them. Josie then pulled out her sword, waiting for Michonne's signal.
Josie's eyes looked at the train, half of the train was black, with white stripes, and the other half was red with white stripes, the red carts being attached to the main driving cab.
"It looks empty." Josie uttered as she turned Michonne, who nodded her head. Josie moved forwards first, going towards one of the train carts and climbing into it, dusting the dirt off of her knees as she stood up.
Josie pursed her lips as she looked down at the withering mattress on the floor. It looked like that hadn't been used in months.
She turned around, crouching down as she held a bottle of alcohol in her hands. She grimaced as she looked inside of the bottle. It was half drunk.
She put the bottle back on the box, looking down at the shattered glass bottles and bullet shells. It looked like someone was practicing to shoot.
She looked out of the train cart, her eyes gazing over the city of savannah. They were close.
"Josie." She turned at Michonne's voice, looking down at her as she walked to the other side of the train cart. "Find anything?"
"Uh, a half drunken bottle of alcohol." Josie shrugged her shoulders, jumping out of the train cart and beside Michonne. "You?"
"Just a map of Savannah." Michonne held the map in her hands, showing Josie. "Looked like a group used this train." Michonne noted as they walked towards their horses.
"Wonder where they are now." Josie muttered, grabbing her horses reigns and climbing onto it.
"Probably dead." Michonne shrugged her shoulders as she got onto her horse. Josie slowly nodded her head as the two followed the rest of the tracks into savannah.
Josie and Michonne wearily stepped Sirius the dead walkers. This town was literally a ghost town. They had moved towards the east bay, seeing nothing but destroyed boats and a walker wall, which was strange.
'KEEP OUT' signs scattered that specific area, and Michonne and Josie didn't dare to go inside and past the walker wall.
"This town looks like it's been gone for a while, now." Josie uttered, clutching her sword closer towards her as she looked down at the dead walkers. "There are no walkers."
"I know...it's strange." Michonne agreed, holding onto her katana. The city seemed so silent, which was unusual. Josie could actually hear her thoughts.
But the pair had spoken too soon, the familiar growls filling their ears as they walked past the numerous shops.
"Shit." Josie muttered as she looked around, seeing a crowd of walkers making their way towards the two women. Josie's eyes looked around, frantically, until her eyes laid upon a jewellery store, the shutter almost closed. "'Chonne." Josie quickly pulled on Michonne's hand, tugging her towards the building.
Josephine quickly pulled up the shutter, letting Michonne crawl under before she did the same, closing the shutter behind her.
The pair let out messy breaths, looking around at the shop they were in. "We just had to jinx it." Josie mumbled, running a hand through her hair as she looked around.
She ignored the glass under her shoes, looking at the jewellery in the shattered cases. "We should wait till the walkers pass, then we leave." Michonne told her as Josie let out a him, nodding her head.
Josie never let go of her sword, her eyes furrowing at the fallen shelf and the shattered glass.
Then, her eyes widened as she spoke stepped back.
There was a dead man, cuffed to the radiator, bullet wound in his head and his left arm chopped in half.
It looked like this man had gone through it. His shirt was covered in blood, and so were his trousers.
Josie swallowed thickly as she looked away, a pang of sadness striking her. She felt bad that he was left here...to rot.
Why was he handcuffed?
What had happened to this man?
Josie didn't have enough time to question as she heard Michonne call her. Josie sent one last look to the man before moving towards Michonne...
— Madeleine's notes.
Short chapter, ik, it's just a filler chapter.
